The service was top notch! Our waiter was fabulous and anticipated every need before we needed it! The food, though, was subpar at best. Nothing tasted fresh. The pancakes weren't even hot enough to melt the butter. Some of the lettuce from my salad was brown, the avocado was all brown and there were spoiled tomatoes. The breakfast potatoes were overly greasy and tasted like stale grease. The grilled chicken was very poor quality with a lot of grizzle and tasted like it was frozen. Overall, not worth the $100+ for a family of 4. The whole place could use a good deep clean as well. They have cute decorations up but it draws attention to the dirty ceilings. The bathroom was also dirty from top to bottom. read more

I stopped in for early dinner on Friday around 5, no customers, one waiter who seemed 1. The menu prices were well above those on the website. confused that I was therel 2. I opted for the lemon baked chicken which finally arrived 45 minutes later as I was debating walking out. 3. The chicken was burnt, over cooked and swimming in a 3/4 inch broth that - can't even guess what it was - not lemon with mushed, I think yellow sweet pitatoes. I waved over the waiter and he and then the manager assured me their customers love it. It had no identifiable flavor, they would not budge on a credit or discount. I reluctantly paid the $25 bill and took the chicken home. My dog sniffed it and walked away. A no return place, when I left, there were two elderly ladies and that was it. read more

I decided to take a trip to my childhood diner, Omega Diner. I arrived around 9:45 AM and was served at a table immediately. All the employees were very friendly, and the overall environment felt so warm and comfortable. They do this thing where they decorate the entrance area to celebrate the seasonal period. This year's Halloween set was really cute, and even the inside featured strings of colorful clothes and decorative spiders hanging from above. When I arrived, it was quite early, so there wasn't a huge rush. However, from what I remember, even during golden hour, service is still extremely fast. I got served within 5 minutes of being seated and got my drink instantly.  I ordered a simple coffee with a plain bagel, butter, and mozzarella sticks. Everything was decently priced and actually really cheap for how overpriced food is right now. The total was around $17, not including the tip. (The mozzarella sticks are my favorite) The whole atmosphere was so homey and still felt the same as when I was younger, getting omelets with my mom. Overall, I'd recommend this place anytime; it's a perfect place to go to have a meal with your parents, partners, grandparents, or anyone. Even if you can afford a restaurant, this place is a great alternative and has a captivating energy that anyone would enjoy. read more

I always come to the omega diner when I'm here on vacation. The matzo ball soup and eggplant Parmesan is still the best. They made my mom's liver without onions and flour because she's on a restricted diet and we really appreciate that. Our entrees came with a soup or salad and a dessert with a choice of rice pudding ice cream, or a cookie. They have one table outside surrounded by pretty flowers and I appreciate that our server did not forget about us out there. read more

Where to begin? First of all, let us admire the snakeskin seats that greeted me upon sitting down at this diner -- very fashionable aesthetic, don't you think? I also noticed leopard print seats as well so we got some fashionistas running this New Jersey diner on Route 1 and I am here for it! I ordered sausage, bacon & mozzarella cheese omelette that came with home fries & toast with hot chocolate with whipped cream. The bacon was super crispy, the sausage was flavorful & diced small the way I like it and there was an ample amount of meat and very generous amount of mozzarella cheese which made for an absolutely delectable omelette! The home fries were great especially with the salt, pepper & ketchup I added to them -- a diner staple that did not disappoint. Last but certainly not least, the hot chocolate with whipped cream was very chocolatey and piping hot. I would be remiss to not mention the absolutely gigantic and enticing cookies that greeted me as I exited the diner. Will definitely be grabbing one next time! I came to Omega Diner for a Saturday Men's Fellowship with my church. It was 13 of us and we had the back room to ourselves. Our waiter was attentive throughout our duration there, especially for a large group. I ordered the mozzarella and sausage omlette, which was a pretty generous size. I loved how cheesy it was, and the sausage was cooked well. It came with home fries and toast, and I ordered a side of crispy bacon as well. For dessert, I ordered the cannoli cheesecake, and I was blown away by how generous they were with their slices. It tasted as good as it looked, and it wasn't overly rich. read more

The service was great. The people were all exceptionally friendly and everything went downhill from there. I paid over five dollars for a very small iced mocha latte that was flavorless. No exaggeration, it was like non-fat milk with a tiny bit of tan colored dye in it. I got the corned beef hash with eggs, over medium and rye toast. The home fries were completely tasteless. I know fried potatoes are supposed to just be fried potatoes, but I've still had some really excellent fried potatoes. These were "meh" at best. The corn beef was mediocre. My eggs were brown on the outside suggesting cooked well done but the inside contained all the runny white stuff. Really unappetizing . Not a good experience at all. But very nice people read more

Going to the omega diner was standard like any other diner. When I went, the restaurant was decorated for Halloween, adding a fun festive feeling to my meal. We were sat quickly at a booth and our waiter quickly asked us for our drinks. I got the Cobb Omelette with home fries, white toast, and water. The omelette was good, having a nice balance of cheese, grilled chicken, and mushrooms. The chicken was cooked extremely well and was flavorful in the omelette. The home fries were undersalted but a great texture. I spent a minute looking for butter before I realized my toast was already buttered, what a nice surprise! I thought this restaurant had a classic NJ restaurant diner feeling. It was busy with families and groups of all ages on a Sunday afternoon. The menu was expansive with choices from breakfast food to steak. Anyone can find something to eat while chatting with a friend under the soft early 2000s music in the background. Finally got a chance to check out this diner last weekend and I'd say it's pretty solid for nj diner standards. I usually stick to just breakfast foods at diner and they serve up some tasty breakfast sandwiches and omelettes. The portions are big, food tastes fresh, and the service is good (frequent coffee refills and friendly staff). Can't ask for much more. On Monday, I visited this diner around 1:00 in the afternoon. There were plenty of places to park and it was easy to access. Meals cost about $10-20 per person, depending on your order. When we entered, the hostess was busy seating people due to it being the end of a lunch rush, but still greeted us with a quick smile. Despite it being the end of the lunch rush, we were seated after around 5 minutes. The diner was lively but not overwhelming, and the tables and floors were seemingly clean. It was decorated for the Halloween season and some of the servers were also dressed for the occasion. Our server arrived within a few minutes to take our orders. Although it was busy, we waited only about 8-10 minutes for our food. The quality was okay, nothing that made it stand out just your typical diner-style food. The diner offers a wide-ranging menu with standard items. We ordered French onion soup with a side of fries and ordered a Belgian waffle with a side of bacon. The waffle was standard just your typical diner waffle, and the fries got cold fast. The soup was the best item we had, but still just average. For those with dietary restrictions, there were vegetarian options and a "heart-healthy" section. Overall, my experience at Omega Diner was alright at best. The Omega Diner is in North Brunswick. I would say the cost is average for a diner in the area. My girlfriend and I went around 12pm on April 17th. The service was pretty good, the waiter asked how I like my bacon cooked which was a nice touch. The outside is extremely ugly, but the inside has it's charm with it's snake skin booths and faux-marble tables. There was no wait to be served or seated. The cheesecake was good but nothing to write home about, but both me and my girlfriend's eggs were overcooked. The pancakes were not good, they resembled school-cafeteria food in both appearance and taste, which is never a good thing. The bacon was really good. I don't believe they have a student discount but I could be mistaken. The bathroom is crazy looking in a good way. read more

I haven't been to the Omega in quite some time and it was not a happy reunion. Service was sporadic to the point of intervening in a server confab behind the counter and delivering our own drinks. My cheeseburger belonged in a burn unit and the less said about the oil slick that accompanied the side of fries the better. If you can't master a cheeseburger what's the point of being a diner in New Jersey. Two disappointed stars. read more

And we had to pay extra for the broccoli The Mediterranean Panini the sun dried tomatoes were just that big circles that you couldn't bite into it's a sandwich a knife shouldn't be necessary. Maybe if they diced them it would work but terrible choice. Everything was sticky from the floor to the table. If we hadn't been traveling all day we would have gotten up and left from the first few minutes. But we didn't and $60 later for what you see in the photos. ... result is this post and a hope they clean the place and bring the prices down because you are not a 5 star restaurant and no one should pay that much for 2 people in a diner. Here it is nine years later and it is still the same diner. I read my last review of this diner and it mirrored my experience this time around. I visited with a co-worker during lunch time since we were in the area. It was busy. I decided again to have breakfast. My co-worker began with the matzah ball soup and a tuna wrap with fries. I ordered the French toast with strawberries and a side of turkey sausage. The matzah ball was the size of a softball. No exaggeration. She loved the soup which was big enough for a meal. She took the tuna and fries home. My French toast was ok. Three regular slices of bread which came with a very minimal amount of strawberries. Disappointing. It wasn't hallah bread or Texas toast bread. Nothing exciting. Once again the sausage links consisted of four and they had been cooked hours ago. Once again we never got the obligatory visit asking if we wanted something else while we were eating. It would have been nice to have a refill on the coffees. Service was average and not friendly. Prices were reasonable and there was plenty of parking. It's a very typical diner experience in NJ. read more

I dropped in here pre-pandemic while I was on my way to Do some work in Princeton. It was very good, and the atmosphere was fun in a disco/bowling alley sort of way. I even wrote a great review. Tonight, when I knew I had to drive by Princeton, I went out of my way to eat here again. Sadly, it was horrid. I ordered the chicken and waffles thinking I would get some great fried chicken and a waffle for desert, but what was served was some crap I could of picked up at 7/11 and thrown in the hotel microwave. It was extremely disappointing. I would have been embarrassed to serve that at a sit down restaurant. Most people don't leave home and go to a place just to be served a hot pocket. What a bummer. Good New Jersey diner food at a reasonable price. Quantity is never an issue and quality has never been a concern. Service is always with a smile and the management is accommodating. Probably slightly nicer ambiance than many diners in New Jersey. If you're looking for fancy gourmet meals served stylishly on oversized plates, then look elsewhere. In many other states you will be hard pressed to find any restaurant as good as a New Jersey diner, of which Omega is a fine example. Give it a try and see for yourself. read more

As long-time customers frequenting Omega Diner in North Brunswick, we recently had a very negative experience there. The food is consistently good and the staff are pleasant and provide an enjoyable time. On our recent visit to Omega we were "greeted" (not) by a new host/manager (K) and seated, but not really. since he walked several feet ahead of us to a booth and did not even check to see if we followed him. He had grabbed two menus, took off to drop the menus on the table and walked away before we even got there. We watched him seat 3 other tables in the same manner. He was rude, unpleasant, and unwelcoming. He is not a 'good face' for this dining establishment. If we had not enjoyed consistently positive dining experiences there prior to his appearance on the staffing scene there. we would not be returning. I came to Omega Diner with a large party reservation. We were in the private room in the back. The service is friendly. They often came in to make sure we were okay and they were prompt to take all our orders. The food is average diner food. I got the panini. It came to us at a decent time, considering our large party. I wish there was more flavor to the panini, especially the chicken inside, and I wish the French fries would be crispier. The pickle and coleslaw on the side was subpar/plain and not really memorable. Overall, it was alright for diner food! You pay at the front cashier. We told them what our entree was and paid for our own meal. For a big group, this is a convenient option in terms of splitting the bill. I would come back again because of the maintained space, high volume and cordial staff, and the decent diner food. read more

The atmosphere as soon you walk in is so welcoming. The staff is kind and helpful. Service is great from start to finish our waiter was helpful and checked in the right amount of times with our interruption. The food was good I offered the chicken soup and the chicken Caesar wrap I recommend both. My boyfriend had the French onion soup and the grilled cheese always a classic. Used to go here all the time, enough to have a frequent flyer card. One of the last times we went, we had sent $200 and was supposed to get $20 off the next meal. The hostess told us that that was on hole until after the pandemic, hold on to it, we won't forget. Gave us another card and we accumulated plenty of points on that one as well. Went today, 10/15/23 and was looked at like we had 3 heads from the cashier. The SAME hostess that told us they would honor it later, said "oh we don't do that anymore, sorry. Every time you come it takes something off. See? You got $2 off". So, we got ripped off of $20 + dollars. In addition, they charge a fee to use a credit card , NJ has a law that it must be posted and show that it is not more than the credit card fee they are paying. No where to be found. I give 1 star due to the food, but to be fair the waiter was excellent and courteous, if I had to rate him only, he would get a 5. We got there late morning, on a weekday. I hadn't been to the Omega since 2009, but I always remember the food as being good, but not this time. To be fair, the other 2 members of my party had no complaints. We had breakfast. I sat in a booth on the northeast side of the diner, and when I sat down the first thing, I noticed was a smell of a mercaptan. I was sitting across the table from my other 2 friends, and they apparently did not smell it. It seemed to be coming from behind me and took away my appetite, but it did disappear in a few minutes, so I didn't say anything. The breakfast: I couldn't eat mine. It tasted like some bad cooking oil, I think, and I couldn't put a bite down except for half of my toast. The coffee was good, but I was perplexed at the potatoes and omelet, so I took it home in a doggie bag. When I got home, I had to dispose of it. Again, to be fair to the Omega, my 2 friends seem to relish their meals, and they had a variation of what I had, and I didn't want to spoil my friend's birthday, so I kept my mouth shut. I have no qualms with the Omega because of past good experiences, but this visit unfortunately was not one of them. read more

The service was slow and the staff unfriendly. Our waiter was not helpful at all. We ordered omelettes which were dry and came served on plastic plates. The western omelette came with no cheese, even though it was in the description that it had cheese. The hashbrowns were overcooked to the point of being crunchy, not just crispy and the toast was pre-buttered which I actually think was margarine. It did not taste like butter.
