Really good experience over all. We got here for an early dinner and watched the restaurant fill up with people over the course of our meal. The menu's are designed well, just like the whole restaurant, and I like the added option to order on the tablet. The ambiance was upscale, while still feeling comfortable and not cold. Service was good too! Good variety and texture of banchan. We ordered the beef bone soup, grilled flounder, and spicy pork to share. I got the mixed rice instead of white. Everything tasted good, and was well seasoned, and texture you would expect. Fish was crispy, and salty. Pork was melt in your mouth tender. And the collagen rich broth of the soup balanced everything well. I can't wait to come back and try more things on the menu.
I had high expectations trying this spot. We got the galbi, beef tofu soup, chicken platter, & bossam. Majority of the dishes were just okay to me. Galbi & chicken were more on the sweet side for my liking. Bossam was my favorite! Interior is nice, well lit room. A great selection of food to choose from - easy to order off the iPad on the table. Good service, they assisted us when we needed something.
Ondam was super tasty! Bossam (4/5) - SO good! But i feel like the cooked cabbage they gave was meh - the first few pieces were good - but after that quality declined. Meat was tasty and soft! Seafood pancake (3.5/5) - tasty but a little undercooked. Wouldve been way better with a little more crunch! Good portion size though! We went late on a friday night and the place was BUSY! They didnt even refill any of our banchan - which was a bummer but was understandable with how busy they were! Overall i would come back again and recommend Ondam to others!
Worth a try. Ordering is done via iPad on the table. You can tell they worked hard on their decor. However, it does feel bit cramped with the way the design the layout. We were sat right next to the door/waiting area, so every time someone opens the door, there would be a huge gust of wind coming in. It's very obvious with the wind because of their door type. Food wise, it was okay. I did not like the seafood pancake at all though. Very dough-y and very little seafood. The pricing was on the higher side, so I was expecting better service, but it was also just okay. One of the staff almost bumped into me because she was busy and rushing, but there were no apologies. As I mentioned, the walking space is kind of cramped, so the vibe doesn't really match the aesthetic.
The food was very mid and the servers were too busy chatting with each other and couldn't see us waving our arms around to get their attention lol. The noodle soup was decent but they didn't clean the mussels and you could still see a bunch of stuff stuck on them. The tteokbokki was straight up bad; it had a weird chemical taste. Lots of good Korean restaurants in this area, I recommend a different one.
Soo happy our friend recommended this place! We came at 7pm on a Saturday night so there was a wait but we got seated within 45 mins. And once we got seated and ordered the food came out right away! So service is really fast and efficient. They also have lots of tables inside and I love the vibe inside. We ordered the kimchi pancake, fried chicken platter, and bulgogi noodle soup and the Bossam. All of them were sooo good. No misses here. They serve plenty of banchan as well and free wheat tea. I can't wait to come back and try other dishes!
My new favorite place for Bossam! All the items that we tried were very strong in flavor and well worth its price but the Bossam definitely stood out with its soft delicious pork and white cabbage wraps. If you love the strong flavor of carbonara, I definitely recommend the tteokbeokki. I almost packed up the sauce to go for pasta the next day. The restaurant itself is moderately sized and has a very modern interior. We didn't have to wait to be seated both times we were there for dinner. Restaurant is also open very late so a great option for late night snacks!
So impressed with Ondam, may be my new go-to Korean spot, especially if I want to bring guests. A more upscale Korean experience with similar prices compared to other establishments. Huge heavy doors to the better quality plastic glass looking straw in your ice water, and a pretty gold interior -- positive experiences the last 3 times I've been here! - Fast & friendly service - Parking available in this small plaza (can be difficult finding parking at peak hours) - Great variety of Korean dishes where most are yummy! | FOOD | -- Overall numerous hits, not too salty nor oily! Banchan yummy too. *Tteokbokki -- Get the rose if you like that flavor profile, it's creamy & delicious. If you want spicy, get the traditional normal spicy ddukbokki. I love that both options come with quail eggs! *Corn cheese -- Very heavy on the CHEESE, be warned! *Seafood Pancake - Crispy and yummy, would get this again. *KIMCHI FRIED RICE -- A standout & pleasant surprise. Really enjoyed the smoky wok flavor *Soondubu -- Got the beef tofu soup. Most places are average for me, but I find that Ondam's soondubu was pretty yummy, Would come back for my tofu soup fix. *Bibim-myeon - Spicy cold buckwheat noodle was delicious as well! Loved adding the vinegar and mustard (clear & yellowish colored sauces in the bottles on the table) *Ondam Chicken Platter - Tried it once, pass. Not crunchy and flavor profile for me was whatever. I like Pocha K's chimken much more *Bulgogi Sot Bap -- Tender & tasty bulgogi! Can't wait to come back!
The inside is very cute and looks clean. Got seated right away on Friday at 6PM for 3 peoples The seafood pancake was crispy and delicious. The tofu stew also had a lot of flavor and comes with a whole clay pot of rice. Benchan was also very fresh. Would go again, service was also very fast.
Very good sharing dishes, bossan and galbi jjim, for a party of 5 Pricey but reasonable split between a larger group. High quality dishes. Some might have been slightly overseasoned but still really tasty overall. Would come back to try other items. Ordering is through a tablet per table. Water refills were frequent but service otherwise is only provided when requested by tablet or eye contact.
Upscale Korean restaurant with a nice ambiance. Came here for the fresh marinated crab. Solid service and started off with some delicious banchans. The menu design is cool but ordered with the iPad on the table. The marinated crab tasted fresh and marinade was delicious. Slight sweetness to it with the gooey raw crab. The Seolleong Tang had a rich and creamy broth with some tender beef. Would prefer to have more and an easier salt and pepper shaker. The kimichi pancake had crispy edges but middle was soggy. Would suggest using a splash of the sauce since it's salty. The Ondam chicken had a nice creamy citrus sauce with it but chicken alone was bit salty. Have high hopes for this place and looking to come back to try the galbi Jim and bossam.
The food is amazing!!! The workers were also very helpful since we had a small space but we big backed and ordered a bunch. It has dim lighting inside so if you have sensitive eyes you might like that or maybe not. Food: - bulgogi: 4/5 it was good but def not the star, could go without it next time - seafood kalguksu: 4/5 very tasty but i forgot to say no onions lots of onions - tteobokki: 5/5 wow ugh so good but so spicy HAHA ngl was dying but delicious
Final Thoughts: 4.50/5.0 My sister and I decided to go here for brunch today. I was craving some Korean food and this place has been on the list for a while now. Overall, my experience was very nice. The food was amazing and service was A+, as well. Will be a 5 star from me today and am hoping to come back for their other food items on the menu. Food: Rose Tteokbokki: 4.5/5 Both items that my sister and I chose today were amazing. It's such a comfort food because of the thick hot sauce and then that combined with the remainder of the toppings. This dish comes with the rice cakes, fish cake, egg, and sauce. The sauce is truly the highlight of this dish. It was just spicy enough, cheesy, thick, umami, and sweet. The sauce is typically made from gochujang and then milk or cream is added, so it gives it that rose color. The consistency of this one is just right for me. Other places can make it really thin, but this place made it nice and thick. If we added noodles to this, it would have also been amazing. Very rich and creamy. For the rice cakes, they were also of a good texture. Not too chewy and had a bite to them, as well. Stone Pot Bbibimbap: 4.5/5 Another great dish that we chose here. When the bowl came out, it was sizzling hot and we could hear the sizzling of the rice crisping up at the bottom of the plate. At the bottom, the rice continued to cook and became this nice crispy rice layer. All of the ingredients were nicely plated on top. Combined, the flavor is very savory and umami. This dish is a good balance of all of the macros with the rice, protein, and vegetables. We added the gochujang sauce on top for the additional flavor. This combined with all of the ingredients mixed together was chef's kiss. Along with the bibimbap, it comes with the seaweed soup on the side. Banchans: Delightful The banchans included kelp salad, kimchi, black beans, fish cakes, marinated spinach, and pickled radish and carrots. My personal favorite was probably the fishcakes, kelp salad, and black beans. All were nicely balanced in flavor. I do prefer the kimchi at other restaurants, but this one was also quite good. That is more of a preference for me though. The textures are also nice with the variety of banchans provided to us today. Their policy is that they will refill when the dish is empty. After-Meal Dessert: Yakgwa Upon getting your check and finishing your meal, they do provide you a little packaged yakgwa. This is a Korean Honey cookie. Quite sweet, but it's very small. Just a little sometime to complete the meal or bring with you after finishing. Waiting List/Reservations: Both Available Of note, this place does take reservations beforehand. They only allow this for parties of 5 or more. If you have a party of 9 or more, they recommend calling the restaurant directly for assistance. Parties of 4 or less may simply walk in and are not given the option to make a reservation beforehand. A waitlist on Yelp is also provided, so that you can monitor the crowd at the time. --------- Quality: Made to Order The food items seemed to be made to order. They really didn't take super long to get all items to come out, but they were all piping hot and sizzling, which I appreciate. Their banchans also look really nice, as well. Overall, appears very fresh and to order. Price: Leans more on the expensive side. Their prices do appear to be more on the expensive side. The price range for the main entrees are within $20 to $30 with some outliers being +/-$5. Their larger food items and more expensive food options will also lean more on being around $40+. Service: Very Attentive Our waiter was very attentive since we came through the door. He explained everything well from the menu to ordering items on the tablet at the table. He checked on us multiple times and always made sure we were doing well. This is something he did with every table that came in, as well. Very polite on top of that. There weren't that many groups during the time that we were there, but seems like he would still retain most of this attentiveness even with a larger crowd. Very much appreciated. Ambiance: Modern and Sleek The interior is quite dim lit on the outside, but is lit up well with their lights and lamps on the inside. Fairly big and spacious on the inside. The interior looks quite modern and sleek, which I like. There are screens, windows, Matches the scene quite well. I would come here for a nicer type of meal. Location/Parking: Small Plaza The restaurant is noted to be on San Tomas Expressway and El Camino Real. The plaza itself looks quite small and there are only a few shops next to it. The parking space appears optimal for their scale of a plaza too. My sister and I came earlier in the day, so waiting and parking weren't an issue at all. This is perhaps a bigger concern for the dinner time rush.

Late-night spot for authentic Korean flavors at Ondam in Santa Clara! Get your cravings satisfied with their unique dishes you don't typically see at Korean restaurants. Must Try dishes- Seafood Jeongol A traditional Korean hot pot, so flavorful and hearty for sharing. I love how it is so huge and brimming with various fresh seafood such as shrimp, clams and mussels. Beef Cypress Wood Steamer: This unique preparation involves steaming slices of beef on a bed of cypress wood, which imparts a subtle woody aroma to the meat, also served with dipping sauces that enhance its natural flavors. Raw Marinated Crab: a savory, sweet spicy and umami-packed crab meat that you can suck right out of the shell, enjoyed with a side of steamed rice. Bossam: sliced boiled pork belly served with leafy greens and condiments like radish kimchi, garlic, and spicy bean paste. The wraps are made by layering the pork with the condiments inside the leaves, creating a burst of flavors and textures in each bite. Love the ambiance and vibe in the restaurant. It gets super crowded though so be sure to put your name on their waitlist asap! read more
I came here when it first opened and it was super delicious but I'm sad to say that the quality has gone down since then. The abalone porridge was bland. The beef brisket soy bean soup was too oily. The mushroom shrimp has a different, harder breading now almost like a shell. The kimchi Banchan is flavorless. The radish Banchan isn't even pickled, so it's just radish... The menu is out dated. They don't have the burgers anymore. The service isn't great, it was hard to flag someone down for help. During dinner service, the lighting inside is dark and it's loud. Checked out Ondam after a relaxing day at the nearby Bay Spa. The interior of Ondam is warm and inviting, with traditional wooden touches that were paired with sleek modern design. It feels comfortable and classy. We ordered the following items for 4 people and shared it family-style: Ondam Bossam ($41.99): my favorite out of everything we ordered! The presentation was beautiful, flavors and textures paired perfectly. I loved how the succulent pork belly paired with the crunch of the vegetables! I do wish it came with more napa cabbage though because we ran out of that before the pork belly was finished. Ondam Chicken Platter ($21.99): came with 3 different flavors-sweet & spicy, soy garlic, and kkanpung. Our favorite was the soy garlic! Comes on a long wooden board that is quite aesthetic! Seafood Kalguksu ($22.99): good but a bit pricey for what it is. I think we might opt out of this one next time, but it was nice to try! Overall, we enjoyed our meal at Ondam and would come again! Service is attentive and efficient. The restaurant is located in a plaza and it is easy to find parking. read more
Maybe a 4/5 but extra points because the restaurant was nice. Yummy Korean food, nothing super crazy but it was good! I ordered the mini cheese tteok, kimchi fried rice, beef tartare, fried chicken platter, and a tofu soup I think. My favorite was the cheese tteok, which sounds weird but was surprisingly good. The beef tartare was a close second. The interior was well-decorated and the menu was cool; the restaurant felt upscale. I like that you can order on a kiosk; orders came fairly fast even though the restaurant was busy. I recommend making a reservation if you want to come here, as it can get busy. It was a little pricey, but as expected for a new restaurant in the area. read more
Love Ondam! There's tons Korean restaurants just on El Camino alone and there's many that are really good so it might be hard to decide. Depending on your vibe, Ondam gives off nice aesthetic, date night, lowkey/chill with drinks and great food. Raw Marinated Crab - on a hunt for the best one around South Bay. Saw these on the menu and it was the main reason for coming but they were just okay. Luckily everything else was so on point. Ondam Mini Cheese Tteok - ordered these twice and they're so good. Hard to describe the flavor but explaining here might be interesting. "Mozzarella Rice Cake with American Cheese" sounds normal but I think it had condensed milk. Crunchy, cheesy, a little sweet - it was literally the perfect app. Kimchi Kalguksu - so refreshing with all veggies and I love the thick noodles that it came with! Beef Soft Tofu (level 2 spicy) - great flavors but not spicy enough. Maybe level 3 next time. Tteokbokki - can never go wrong with this dish. Good! Steamed Dumpling - wow.. eaten so many dumplings and these became one of my favorites. Would definitely order these again or order the kimchi dumplings next time... or both.. Ondam Chicken Platter - fried boneless chicken. Flavors: Sweet & spicy, soy garlic, and kkanpung. The soy garlic was my favorite. Plenty of great dishes and many more I would love to try! It does get pretty busy around peak dinner but the wait isn't too crazy. Friday night was around 30 minutes. Service is good too. Can't wait for next time! read more

Stepping into this Korean restaurant felt like entering a beautifully curated space--warm lighting, elegant wooden accents, and subtle traditional touches that made the ambiance both inviting and refined. The food matched the setting perfectly. The bulgogi was tender and flavorful, with just the right balance of sweetness and smokiness. The marinated crab was a standout--briny, rich, and packed with umami, a true delicacy. I missed this taste when I visited Seoul last year. The pork tofu soup was comforting, with a deep, spicy broth that had just the right amount of heat. The banchan selection was fresh and varied, complementing every dish. To top it off, the makgeolli (Korean rice wine) was smooth and slightly effervescent, adding a refreshing contrast to the bold flavors. The service was quick and the staff were very friendly. My little one got extra cookies on the way out as one of the staff grabbed more for her as we left. Bonus points! A truly satisfying meal in a stunning setting--I'll definitely be back! read more
Ondam serves elevated Korean food. We ordered the bossam, seafood kalguksu, and raw marinated crab. I really enjoyed the bossam and kalguksu, but the crab was just okay for me. The service was great, the staff was kind and attentive, and they even gave us gloves and aprons so we wouldn't spill on our clothes. The restaurant has beautiful decor, mixing traditional Korean style with a modern twist. It's definitely on the pricier side, but I'd come back for a special occasion. read more
A lovely sit down Korean restaurant with good traditional korean food! Despite the premium atmosphere the food isn't as pricey as you might expect. The kimchi pancake was only 10 dollars too! The food was good but nothing too outstanding. The kimchi pancake lacked some crispiness, but was nicely flavoured. Should probably go for the seafood one next time. Despite the hype behind the fried chicken platter, I was honestly a bit disappointed. The flavours were a bit bland and it was not crispy as well. The clam Kalguksu was good but the broth not as flavourful or creamy as imagined The beef brisket bowl definitely saved the day though. Definitely add the sauce! It greatly enhanced the flavours! The meat was very tender, and the bowl deeper than you imagine, packed with a lot of vegetables. The banchan was also very good! Service overall was very good! Ondam has become our family's favorite restaurant -- clean, authentic, and beautifully modern Korean food. Every dish feels thoughtfully made and full of flavor. There are plenty of great options for kids too, which makes it such an easy and enjoyable spot for family meals. And the complimentary 약과 (Korean honey cookies) at the end are always a huge hit with our kiddo -- such a sweet touch that makes the experience even more special. Highly recommend to anyone looking for elevated yet comforting Korean food. read more
I came here with my daughter after we returned from a late flight. I received many strange looks because of the time of night and probably because I didn't want to leave my backpack in the car. We were so hungry and needed some comfort foods. The restaurant is modern and inviting. Service was okay. They could've been a bit more attentive rather than me having to ask for things. The food was the best part. I loved the rose tteokbokki however it is very rich. The seollongtang hit me in the depths of my soul. I also enjoyed the abalone porridge although I don't think this is for everyone. It's like old people food but I just love all porridge. Can't wait to come back for more! read more
I like Ondam. When I first opened the door, it felt like stepping into a traditional Korean house (Hanok), almost as if I had traveled back to the Joseon Dynasty. It was an exciting moment for me for a second, experiencing my own culture. The menu design was a nice touch it resembled a Hanok door, adding to the traditional ambiance. Good job! As for the food, it was pretty good. All six side dishes were fresh and flavorful. Each one was well prepared and delicious. We ordered abalone porridge, kimchi pancake, and beef pancake. The porridge was tasty but a bit watery, the kimchi pancake was slightly too doughy, and the beef pancake was tender and paired well with the spicy vinaigrette/green onions. The service was pleasant, the servers were friendly and kept refilling side dishes & our free barley tea, which was a nice bonus. read more
We came here on a weekday night during the winter holidays for dinner. There was little wait and ample seating and we were seated pretty quickly and the ambiance was lively and intimate. We ordered: - Tteokbokki - This was delicious! The rice cakes were soft and very chewy and the sauce was absolutely delicious and creamy, with just the right amount of flavor and spice. - Chicken Platter - This comes with 3 flavors of chicken - Sweet & spicy, soy garlic, kkanpung. I thought all 3 flavors were delicious, but my favorite was the sweet & spicy one. Overall, I had a great time eating here and will be back in the future to try more items in the menu! read more

This was my first time visiting "Ondam" in Santa Clara, CA and I was very impressed! We got to try their seafood pancake, bossam, and their rose tteokbokki and they were all amazing. Everyone at the restaurant was very polite and we really enjoyed the tasting experience. The flavors of each dish had lots of umami. Our server was super nice, generous, and very helpful. I definitely would recommend this place and would definitely return! :) read more
5/5 good food, slightly elevated ambiance than your typical Korean restaurant :) Food: Kimchi pancake: 4/5 Crunchy and pillowy at the same time. Not too spicy and more sour. Korean fried chicken: 5/5 ALSO crunchy. The flavors are all pretty delicious but the middle one with the darker sauce was amazing. Spicy stir fried pork: 5/5 Tender pork stir fried with onions. Decent spicy and pairs perfectly with plain rice. Definitely a dish to share with people. Bulgolgi bat sop: 5/5 Let the rice cook a bit in the bowl. The cronch is worth it. There are so many toppings in the bowl and it fills you up quick. It's another dish that's great to share. Service: Friendly! Our group of 7 got seated quickly but it's always safe to call and reserve ahead of time. Plenty of seating but this place is pretty popular. Side dishes came out quickly but it took some time for the main dishes to come out. Parking is a little tough due to the size of the lot and popularity of the stores in the plaza so try to arrive in off hours. Ambiance: Slightly fancier than your usual Korean restaurant. There are details that try and upscale the place like the decorated menus and the entryway. It's a pretty nice place to take someone for a casual date or if you'd like to bring family members for a comfort meal ( but you have to impress them a bit) read more

Ondam is a sleek and modern Korean restaurant that is great for date night. Ordering is typically done through an iPad but staff will check on you to see if you have questions while ordering. We decided to go with the bossam, raw marinated crab (which comes with gloves) and a side of rice. They had run out of black rice unfortunately, but there was a sufficient amount of banchan offered to pair with our main dishes. The bossam is minimalist in terms of flavor but still packs a punch with the 2 sauces, garlic, and peppers provided on the side. While the raw marinated crab was good, it was hard to eat on such a small table and get all the crab meat out. I would come back specifically for the bossam and try other new dishes. read more

We ordered the Jjambbong Kalgusku, Corn Cheese & Banana Makgeolli- the Jiambbong was very flavorful and spicy. The noodles were perfectly cooked. The portion that they give you is a lot so I strongly recommend to share it unless you have a big appetite. The corn cheese was DELICIOUS. The perfect amount of cheese and creaminess. I love Ondom and the food along with their service. I strongly recommend. The vibes are chill, it's not too loud or bright which I do tend to enjoy. It would be good date nice or a nice food date with family or friends. read more
After watching several TikToks about this place, I decided to check it out--and it did not disappoint! The interior is cozy and modern. As I had an event to attend afterward and was concerned about the wait time, I joined the waitlist on the Yelp app for a table for 2. The app estimated a 20-minute wait with 4 parties ahead of us. I was planning to wait in the car until I was notified that our table was ready, but I decided to check inside since I did not see many people entering or leaving the restaurant. It turned out that most of the tables were empty, and we were seated immediately. I just wish they were able to notify us sooner that a table was available. The waiter was very kind and was willing to answer our questions about the menu. Although our table was pretty small, the waiter was able to bring us an extra side table. Here is our order: Ondam Gimbap (4/5): A great appetizer in a generous serving size. Seafood Pancake (5/5): Served on a sizzling plate--absolutely delicious and went very well with the sauce. Ondam Chicken Platter (5/5): Incredible value for the portion! It comes with 3 favors, and each one was amazing. Steak Sot Bap (3/5): This dish unfortunately was a bit underwhelming. The ratio of meat to rice felt off, and the overall flavor didn't stand out. The portions were huge! We only managed to finish the Sot Bap and took the rest home. Overall, I was satisfied with both the experience and food. Despite the minor issue with the waitlist notification, everything else was fantastic. Definitely worth a visit! read more
If you're looking for a late night korean spot, this is it!! They've got everything you could think of and more! I went went with a party of 4 so we could try more of the menu. Some dishes that were my favorite were the fried chicken platter(super crispy and every flavor was bomb), the braised short ribs(suuuper tender and juicy) everything you would want from this dish. My absolute favorite though was the meat pancake which was very reminiscent of a dish I know as meat jun. Either way that dish was like a cloud!! -- I could've devoured a whole order of that by myself! lol Only slight let down was that the bossam was a little dry for what i'm used to. Staff was great and super helpful with any questions we had about all the dishes. A must if you're ever in the area, you can't go wrong with this meal! read more
Interior and everything about this restaurant is very modern and high end looking. Service is great and we were constantly asked if we wanted more sides or anything. They even helped serve the Army Stew we ordered as our table was too small for our orders and sides. Army Stew - probably the best army stew I've had. The broth was really rich, somehow creamy, and packed with flavor. It didn't taste like just kimchi like some others I've had. The ingredients were also top quality and included both the "cheaper" options like spam and sausage and nice mushrooms and other veggies. Bossam - pretty good, not the best I've had but still really good. Radish kimchi that it came with was flavorful and not too sour, served with a good spread of jalepnos, garlic, lettuce and radish wraps. read more
After missing out on Ondam on Friday dinner because of the long wait, we came back for lunch the next day and were seated within 15 mins. Here are the dishes I'd recommend: - Marinated Beef Sot Bap - Abalone porridge - Mini cheese tteok (for novelty, and if you like cheese/condensed milk) Other dishes are good but pretty standard. The soybean soup was a bit salty for our taste. Service was good and ambience was really nice. They even gave complimentary mini yakgwa (traditional korean dessert) at the end of the meal. Overall satisfied with my meal and would come back to try other dishes if I'm in the area! read more

I came here with my family at 5pm on a Saturday and got the last available table. This place gets busy so come early or put yourself on the waitlist! Also note the waitlist is only available if you're 1 mile away. We ordered the beef tartare to start and it was good, had a sweet tangy flavor to it and lots of sesame oil to balance out. I enjoyed all the banchan that came with our meal especially the fish tofu. The stars of the dinner were the bossam and raw marinated crab! The bossam was so soft and it was perfect when wrapped in lettuce and all the sides that come with it. The raw marinated crab is SUPER worth it, it comes in a big plate, it's marinated so nicely and the crab itself is large in size and so sweet. We also got the algoni tofu soup, it came with a bowl of rice and an egg. The tofu soup had great flavor and had a good amount of algoni. The kimchi fried rice is so unique, it comes out on a cast iron plate and the server will pour the egg and cook it in front of you. It was packed with flavor. I've been seeing Ondam all over Instagram and I am so glad I gave it a try! My group of 6 people came on a Saturday around 1:30pm and did not have to wait for a table at all. I'm not sure how busy it is during the lunch and dinner rushes but you can always join the Yelp waitlist ahead of time. I saw the $$$ on Yelp and was sure that this meal was going to be pricey, but it was so worth every single penny! Every dish hit the spot and was so comforting. The portion sizes are also pretty big which is great for those that are eating family style! My favorite dishes were the bossam, the chicken platter and the bibim guku (spicy cold noodles). The chicken platter was way bigger than what was pictured which was a nice surprise! And I don't remember seeing the spicy cold noodles on the paper menu but we were able to order it through the tablet. I can't say too much about the service except that all the food came out pretty quickly. It's a pretty spacious restaurant so I think they would be able to accommodate groups of all sizes. There was plenty of parking available when we were there too. I can't wait to go back again soon and try some of their other dishes like the spicy marinated crab :D read more

The fried chicken platter is so good. The flavors were distinct and strong. I really liked the sauce that came with it because the mayo had a hint of citrus and that was able to help cut down on the creamy and savory flavors. The bibimbap was good but it tasted like any other bibimbap to me and the gimbap was a refreshing bite. The sides were also so yummy to eat. read more

A year made such a difference. This time we had the Rose Tteokbokki and Seafood Soondubu (seafood soft tofu soup). Best Rose Tteokbokki I've had. It had the right balance of sweetness and spice. The huge pieces of bacon gave it a smoky flavor. It also had quail eggs. The sauce was so good. The Seafood Soondubu was also really good and one of the best tofu soup. The broth was not too spicy and it had a more complex flavor than other Soondubus I've had before. It had clams and shrimp. I think it had both pork and beef, also. They give you an egg to crack in the hot soup and a side of steamed rice. The banchan was also good. I usually don't eat the side dishes when I dine in Korean restaurants but I ate half of the banchan on our table. There were six side dishes: sweet black beans with sesame seeds, strip of fish cake, sweet macaroni salad, pickled radish, spicy greens and kimchi. The fish cake and macaroni were the best of the six. They prepared the fish cakes with onions and green onions; was not fishy at all. Again one of the best fish cakes. Staff were very nice. Food came out quickly which was a night and day difference from the 1 hour that we had to wait for our food a year ago. Price was reasonable for the quality and yumminess of the dishes. Nice dining area. Ondam delivered great tasting quality dishes, friendly fast service in an elegant dining room for a reasonable price. read more

Finally checked this place off my list. My friend and I both thought the menu looked great, so we decided to try it out. We went on a Wednesday night for dinner and it wasn't too busy. I put my name down on the waitlist when I arrived and we only waited about 10min or so? Not bad! Also, you do have the option of putting your name on the waitlist on Yelp or just reserve a table ahead of time lol. The parking situation can be tough since the parking lot is shared with other establishments, but there is ample street parking. The restaurant looked very upscale, from how the layout was. It's somewhat small. You order through the iPad provided on the table. We decided to get the beef gimbap, beef tofu soup, and originally we ordered the marinated beef sotbap, but they ran out so we ended up getting the beef brisket one. It was still delicious and they were kind enough to charge us for our original order of the marinated beef instead. The banchan given were delicious! Very classic, traditional Korean side dishes. The food was tasty. The beef were tender, the soup had good amount of tofu in it. I wish I got the medium spicy level. We ordered the mild and it barely had any spice, so I know next time to get the medium. For the gimbap, there was a lot of pieces for one serving, so definitely shareable between 2-4 people. I think I would come here again to try something else. The price point for some of the dishes are more expensive than others, so something to be mindful about. But I think you're also paying for the experience alongside the food, so it is worth trying. Service was friendly! read more

This place is a treasure in Santa Clara! Beautifully decorated and clean, along with a spacious parking lot, my experience at Ondam was terrific. There was no line on a Tuesday night around 7:30PM, which was even better. Also, it is open very late (~1 AM) which is convenient for late night food! Reminds me of BCD in Southern California in that aspect. There were lots of sides and some unique ones I have not seen before, despite being a Korean restaurant frequenter. In particular, the savory red beans and crunchy vegetable mayo salad stood out. I personally loved the unique texture of the latter one, We ordered the kimchi pancake and bulgogi gimbap as the appetizers. The kimchi pancake was tasty and paired well with the dipping sauce that came by. The bulgogi was larger than expected and was the perfect size for a party of 4. I ordered the pork tofu soup for my main course. I was impressed by the size of the soup, and the rice seemed to have been cooked in light tea. The server was very friendly and encouraged us to crack the egg in the soup, as well as teased us when we mixed up each other's orders (we all ordered tofu soup). It was filling, the perfect amount of spice, and even delicious the next day when I took the leftovers home. Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience! While it it really modern and clean inside, I didn't love Ondam. The food was lacking flavor.... and they kept on forgetting our soju! --The fried chicken platter was a letdown. It looked so cool and was decently priced, but I get it now. It was a glorified chicken nugget. -The seafood pancake was ok. Not that much seafood nor was it crispy enough. -The raw marinated crab was ok. Couldn't eat the claws without breaking your teeth, so that was a waste. Also... they're really weird about gloves here. Only one glove per person! Lots of spice but could use more flavor. read more
