I had high expectations trying this spot. We got the galbi, beef tofu soup, chicken platter, & bossam. Majority of the dishes were just okay to me. Galbi & chicken were more on the sweet side for my liking. Bossam was my favorite! Interior is nice, well lit room. A great selection of food to choose from - easy to order off the iPad on the table. Good service, they assisted us when we needed something.
Ondam was super tasty! Bossam (4/5) - SO good! But i feel like the cooked cabbage they gave was meh - the first few pieces were good - but after that quality declined. Meat was tasty and soft! Seafood pancake (3.5/5) - tasty but a little undercooked. Wouldve been way better with a little more crunch! Good portion size though! We went late on a friday night and the place was BUSY! They didnt even refill any of our banchan - which was a bummer but was understandable with how busy they were! Overall i would come back again and recommend Ondam to others!
Worth a try. Ordering is done via iPad on the table. You can tell they worked hard on their decor. However, it does feel bit cramped with the way the design the layout. We were sat right next to the door/waiting area, so every time someone opens the door, there would be a huge gust of wind coming in. It's very obvious with the wind because of their door type. Food wise, it was okay. I did not like the seafood pancake at all though. Very dough-y and very little seafood. The pricing was on the higher side, so I was expecting better service, but it was also just okay. One of the staff almost bumped into me because she was busy and rushing, but there were no apologies. As I mentioned, the walking space is kind of cramped, so the vibe doesn't really match the aesthetic.
The food was very mid and the servers were too busy chatting with each other and couldn't see us waving our arms around to get their attention lol. The noodle soup was decent but they didn't clean the mussels and you could still see a bunch of stuff stuck on them. The tteokbokki was straight up bad; it had a weird chemical taste. Lots of good Korean restaurants in this area, I recommend a different one.
Soo happy our friend recommended this place! We came at 7pm on a Saturday night so there was a wait but we got seated within 45 mins. And once we got seated and ordered the food came out right away! So service is really fast and efficient. They also have lots of tables inside and I love the vibe inside. We ordered the kimchi pancake, fried chicken platter, and bulgogi noodle soup and the Bossam. All of them were sooo good. No misses here. They serve plenty of banchan as well and free wheat tea. I can't wait to come back and try other dishes!
My new favorite place for Bossam! All the items that we tried were very strong in flavor and well worth its price but the Bossam definitely stood out with its soft delicious pork and white cabbage wraps. If you love the strong flavor of carbonara, I definitely recommend the tteokbeokki. I almost packed up the sauce to go for pasta the next day. The restaurant itself is moderately sized and has a very modern interior. We didn't have to wait to be seated both times we were there for dinner. Restaurant is also open very late so a great option for late night snacks!
So impressed with Ondam, may be my new go-to Korean spot, especially if I want to bring guests. A more upscale Korean experience with similar prices compared to other establishments. Huge heavy doors to the better quality plastic glass looking straw in your ice water, and a pretty gold interior -- positive experiences the last 3 times I've been here! - Fast & friendly service - Parking available in this small plaza (can be difficult finding parking at peak hours) - Great variety of Korean dishes where most are yummy! | FOOD | -- Overall numerous hits, not too salty nor oily! Banchan yummy too. *Tteokbokki -- Get the rose if you like that flavor profile, it's creamy & delicious. If you want spicy, get the traditional normal spicy ddukbokki. I love that both options come with quail eggs! *Corn cheese -- Very heavy on the CHEESE, be warned! *Seafood Pancake - Crispy and yummy, would get this again. *KIMCHI FRIED RICE -- A standout & pleasant surprise. Really enjoyed the smoky wok flavor *Soondubu -- Got the beef tofu soup. Most places are average for me, but I find that Ondam's soondubu was pretty yummy, Would come back for my tofu soup fix. *Bibim-myeon - Spicy cold buckwheat noodle was delicious as well! Loved adding the vinegar and mustard (clear & yellowish colored sauces in the bottles on the table) *Ondam Chicken Platter - Tried it once, pass. Not crunchy and flavor profile for me was whatever. I like Pocha K's chimken much more *Bulgogi Sot Bap -- Tender & tasty bulgogi! Can't wait to come back!
The inside is very cute and looks clean. Got seated right away on Friday at 6PM for 3 peoples The seafood pancake was crispy and delicious. The tofu stew also had a lot of flavor and comes with a whole clay pot of rice. Benchan was also very fresh. Would go again, service was also very fast.
Very good sharing dishes, bossan and galbi jjim, for a party of 5 Pricey but reasonable split between a larger group. High quality dishes. Some might have been slightly overseasoned but still really tasty overall. Would come back to try other items. Ordering is through a tablet per table. Water refills were frequent but service otherwise is only provided when requested by tablet or eye contact.
Upscale Korean restaurant with a nice ambiance. Came here for the fresh marinated crab. Solid service and started off with some delicious banchans. The menu design is cool but ordered with the iPad on the table. The marinated crab tasted fresh and marinade was delicious. Slight sweetness to it with the gooey raw crab. The Seolleong Tang had a rich and creamy broth with some tender beef. Would prefer to have more and an easier salt and pepper shaker. The kimichi pancake had crispy edges but middle was soggy. Would suggest using a splash of the sauce since it's salty. The Ondam chicken had a nice creamy citrus sauce with it but chicken alone was bit salty. Have high hopes for this place and looking to come back to try the galbi Jim and bossam.
The food is amazing!!! The workers were also very helpful since we had a small space but we big backed and ordered a bunch. It has dim lighting inside so if you have sensitive eyes you might like that or maybe not. Food: - bulgogi: 4/5 it was good but def not the star, could go without it next time - seafood kalguksu: 4/5 very tasty but i forgot to say no onions lots of onions - tteobokki: 5/5 wow ugh so good but so spicy HAHA ngl was dying but delicious
Final Thoughts: 4.50/5.0 My sister and I decided to go here for brunch today. I was craving some Korean food and this place has been on the list for a while now. Overall, my experience was very nice. The food was amazing and service was A+, as well. Will be a 5 star from me today and am hoping to come back for their other food items on the menu. Food: Rose Tteokbokki: 4.5/5 Both items that my sister and I chose today were amazing. It's such a comfort food because of the thick hot sauce and then that combined with the remainder of the toppings. This dish comes with the rice cakes, fish cake, egg, and sauce. The sauce is truly the highlight of this dish. It was just spicy enough, cheesy, thick, umami, and sweet. The sauce is typically made from gochujang and then milk or cream is added, so it gives it that rose color. The consistency of this one is just right for me. Other places can make it really thin, but this place made it nice and thick. If we added noodles to this, it would have also been amazing. Very rich and creamy. For the rice cakes, they were also of a good texture. Not too chewy and had a bite to them, as well. Stone Pot Bbibimbap: 4.5/5 Another great dish that we chose here. When the bowl came out, it was sizzling hot and we could hear the sizzling of the rice crisping up at the bottom of the plate. At the bottom, the rice continued to cook and became this nice crispy rice layer. All of the ingredients were nicely plated on top. Combined, the flavor is very savory and umami. This dish is a good balance of all of the macros with the rice, protein, and vegetables. We added the gochujang sauce on top for the additional flavor. This combined with all of the ingredients mixed together was chef's kiss. Along with the bibimbap, it comes with the seaweed soup on the side. Banchans: Delightful The banchans included kelp salad, kimchi, black beans, fish cakes, marinated spinach, and pickled radish and carrots. My personal favorite was probably the fishcakes, kelp salad, and black beans. All were nicely balanced in flavor. I do prefer the kimchi at other restaurants, but this one was also quite good. That is more of a preference for me though. The textures are also nice with the variety of banchans provided to us today. Their policy is that they will refill when the dish is empty. After-Meal Dessert: Yakgwa Upon getting your check and finishing your meal, they do provide you a little packaged yakgwa. This is a Korean Honey cookie. Quite sweet, but it's very small. Just a little sometime to complete the meal or bring with you after finishing. Waiting List/Reservations: Both Available Of note, this place does take reservations beforehand. They only allow this for parties of 5 or more. If you have a party of 9 or more, they recommend calling the restaurant directly for assistance. Parties of 4 or less may simply walk in and are not given the option to make a reservation beforehand. A waitlist on Yelp is also provided, so that you can monitor the crowd at the time. --------- Quality: Made to Order The food items seemed to be made to order. They really didn't take super long to get all items to come out, but they were all piping hot and sizzling, which I appreciate. Their banchans also look really nice, as well. Overall, appears very fresh and to order. Price: Leans more on the expensive side. Their prices do appear to be more on the expensive side. The price range for the main entrees are within $20 to $30 with some outliers being +/-$5. Their larger food items and more expensive food options will also lean more on being around $40+. Service: Very Attentive Our waiter was very attentive since we came through the door. He explained everything well from the menu to ordering items on the tablet at the table. He checked on us multiple times and always made sure we were doing well. This is something he did with every table that came in, as well. Very polite on top of that. There weren't that many groups during the time that we were there, but seems like he would still retain most of this attentiveness even with a larger crowd. Very much appreciated. Ambiance: Modern and Sleek The interior is quite dim lit on the outside, but is lit up well with their lights and lamps on the inside. Fairly big and spacious on the inside. The interior looks quite modern and sleek, which I like. There are screens, windows, Matches the scene quite well. I would come here for a nicer type of meal. Location/Parking: Small Plaza The restaurant is noted to be on San Tomas Expressway and El Camino Real. The plaza itself looks quite small and there are only a few shops next to it. The parking space appears optimal for their scale of a plaza too. My sister and I came earlier in the day, so waiting and parking weren't an issue at all. This is perhaps a bigger concern for the dinner time rush.
Ondam is located in an inconspicuous plaza off El Camino Real with plenty of parking and a lovely, renovated interior. The seating is pretty comfortable for families / older folks and even on a Sunday at 12:15-ish, there wasn't a wait for a 4 top. Every table comes with an iPad to view the menu and order, but you can always flag down a waiter as well. I really enjoyed the banchan here; great variety and flavor, but I'd say the main dishes themselves were average. Bossam (4/5): The pork was nice and tender with a good level of sodium. Accouterments was fresh and while this won't blow your socks off, will scratch the itch. Seafood Pancake (3.75/5): There was a decent crisp on the outside, but I prefer a higher ratio of seafood and green onions rather than mostly batter. Seolleongtang (3.5/5): Broth was nice and milky, but didn't quite have that deep almost funky flavor I want in a bone broth.
Overall this is a solid Korean spot and it's a plus that they're open so late. My favorite is their complimentary barley tea that they give with their food. My favorites are their kimbap and their soups. The pajeon was just okay and I've had better at other Korean places. The banchan was also fresh and delicious and service was fast. Located in a strip mall and the place was fairly busy on a Friday night, but the wait was only 20 minutes. Nice modern decor, unfortunately we were located near the door and it was a cold night, but the food kept us warm. Everything was super fresh and tasty. Good banchan esp the kim chi. Good bulgogi, top level fried chicken and great Korean fried chicken. Will definitely return 5 stars read more
We ordered the Bossam, Seafood Pancake, Bimbap, and the Rose tteokbokki. The ambience was modern and we ordered through a tablet that was attached to the table. The service was practically non-existent besides them bringing food to our table. Other than that, the food was delicious, there was no gamey flavor with the pork, the tteokbokki was creamy and rich flavor. Some things I did note was that the cold noodles were bland, and the seafood pancake batter seemed a little thick, so it fell apart easily when picked up. To add to that, the seafood pancake also had very little seafood. I would definitely come back to try the food again, it is much better if you come with a large group of friends since the food portions are rather large and pricey. read more
Brought my kid here for early lunch on Friday. No wait, we were seated right away. I got intestine soup clay and she wanted Tteokbokki. The best part is we got a full table of banchan . Long overdue review for Ondam! I came here for a friend's birthday dinner back in December 2024, and I've been meaning to write a review but haven't had the chance. The interior is cozy and has a nice dim ambiance. We ordered a variety of dishes: the Ondam bossam, Ondam chicken platter, bulgogi kimbap, and the Korean traditional tteokbokki. Everything was tasty, but my personal favorites were the chicken platter and kimbap. I don't usually go for fried chicken, but theirs was super flavorful and crispy. Wait was around 15 minutes at 1:30 pm on a Sunday. Once seated, we were given a choice of hot tea or iced water. The hot tea seems to be barley tea. Kimchi fried rice was pretty wet rather than fried. Tasted pretty good overall though - spicy from the kimchi and somewhat salty. Only the physical menu says this but there's spam in it so it's not vegetarian. The fried egg on it is slightly runny. Kimchi pancake fell apart pretty easily as far as texture goes. I could taste the kimchi but it was fairly bland/doughy overall. It does come with a fairly spicy sauce to add flavor though. Bossam was amazing - the pork belly was so tender that some pieces completely fell apart as soon as I picked them up. We were given two sauces intended for the bossam - one with tiny salted shrimp and another that looked like salsa and tasted very savory, probably made of fermented soybean paste (doenjang). The dish comes with napa cabbage and large pink pickled radish to wrap the meat in, as well as spicy radish kimchi and sliced garlic pieces. My mom ordered the vegetarian mushroom sotbap which was unexpectedly tiny. She also found it fairly plain overall, as it seems like the intention is to flavor it yourself with the provided sauces. After the check came, we were also given tiny packaged yakgwa cookies and some sweet rice drink (sikhye I think)! read more
Talk about a feast with generous portion and different korean spot. The Ambiance is warm and simple and elegant traditional modern vibe. . The service is detailed with refilling water, bringing lemon for the water, extra napkins, fork. . We ordered though the little kiosk on table and they food will arrive in 10 minutes or so which is cool. The kiosk shows the food picture, price, description, and has the total for your table. When done just let them know to help ring you up as normal. . Korean fried chicken was served on a long platter with 4 different flavors. The ban chan was great to share, don't think their was any refill on ban chan. We got a fish noodle spicy soup. Also a beef brone broth with a big beef bone, which had cleared noodles. . We also got the korean sushi roll which was simple and vegeterian with egg inside. Kimbap we enjoyed our luncheon dinner feast since we did eat late around 3pm. Overall it was an experience. Wow, this spread really felt like a mini Thanksgiving feast--super generous and nicely put together. We tried the raw marinated crab for the first time, which I've always been curious about but a little hesitant to order because of the whole raw seafood thing. That said, Ondam has a clean, slightly upscale feel that made it easy to go for it. The crab ended up being the highlight. The meat was delicate, naturally sweet with a light savory/briny flavor, and had that soft, almost buttery texture that just melts. It felt really well-balanced and not overpowering. The bossam was also a standout. It's tender, flavorful, and a great contrast to the lighter crab dish. Overall, everything felt thoughtfully prepared without being too heavy. This is a really solid Korean spot that feels just a bit elevated from your typical go-to. I'd definitely come back. Plus, the area is great--lots of boba and dessert spots nearby, so it's easy to turn it into a full night out. read more

I have been craving Korean food but not necessarily bbq. Myself and toddler can't eat spicy. This was a nice surprise. We arrived a bit before 6 to a bunch of people waiting outside. We got worried. For our table of 3 we were actually able to get a table right away. The manager was very attentive to our toddler and I thought did an amazing job. She gave her some seaweed and also handed me some napkins when I was coughing. Bulgogi Sot Bap $30 - Comes in a little pot which is really cute. We added a fried egg on top. The pot good deep so there's actually a lot of food. Also comes with seafood soup which my daughter devoured. Japchae #19.99 - Filled with so much toppings. Comes with a good quantity and our toddler loved it. We had it the next day for lunch and it was still delicious. Chicken platter - Comes with 3 flavors and presented very nicely. One taste like orange chicken haha. None of them was super spicy which was an added bonus for us. Comes with cubed pickled daikon and a sweet glaze. The breading was soggy and fell off the chicken. We would try this again as our toddler enjoyed it overall just wished it was more crispy. The ban chan was good and well done. Our toddler loved the fish cake. Two unisex roomy bathrooms in the back. Decor is nice and spacious. Definitely feel luxurious. Located in a strip mall - plenty of parking. read more
A seemingly upscale restaurant with good classic Korean food. The overall service was notably great, with servers who were very knowledgeable about their food and who were able to explain both the menu and the specials when we had questions. The restaurant itself was very nicely decorated with lot of wood pieces/dividers, it's definitely one of the more atmospheric spots in the area. I will mention, perhaps this is exclusive to the evening, but the lights in the restaurant were quite dimmed in favor of the candle-like lights present at every table - not an issue for me but just worth mentioning. The food here is definitely a highlight - most dishes are sharable, and the prices are a bit higher for it (I believe this is a pocha style spot). The banchan is stellar, with a lot of different variety, and they were very good about refilling any that we finished! My favorite dishes of the night were the rose tteokbokki, the spicy and soy raw marinated crabs, and the seafood pancake. The rose tteokbokki especially was really balanced, which I find not a lot of Korean spots can do well - it wasn't too spicy nor too cheesy. We also ordered 2 kalguksu, both of which were very well seasoned and had a lot of seafood in them, and the chicken sampler - which were all super well done and very crispy! I will definitely be returning to try their other menu items! Super generous portions so be sure to be ready to take some home! read more
My friend and I were looking for a late night korean spot to go to after our work social. This place came up on yelp with good reviews so we thought we would give it a try. The place was super busy for it being past 9pm and the vibe was lively. The menu ipad was super convenient and we both loved being able to look at the pictures of the dishes we were ordering. There were so many things we wanted to order but ended up both with the Seolleongtang. It was decent quality. The broth was rich and meaty. The noodles good too. The banchon they had was a great variety and there were at least 8 on the table which we liked. Together we also shared the mandu and the signature kimbap. I would definitely recommend the mandu. The kimbap was good but not my favorite so I would pass on that. A really fun place to go though for dinner or a nightcap. read more
One of the better Korean restaurants that I have been to as they have much more variety to choose from. Gotta love the menu decor; it's like a mini door, which is super cute. 1. Kimchi Pancake (4/5) The pancake is coated in a thin layer of egg, then pan fried, which gave it the nice crispiness on the outside. The kimchi flavor is subtle, but you do taste the tartness. A great appetizer! 2. Regular Tteokbokki (4/5) Traditional Korean rice cake with fish cake in the spicy, sweet sauce. It also comes with quail egg, onions, cabbage, carrots, and green onion. The rice cake was QQ/chewy 3. Rose Tteokbokki (5/5) This takes the regular tteokbokki up a notch as it is served in a creamy, mild, spicy sauce with sausage, bacon and mozzarella. Who can say no to that? ... not me! 4. Tofu Salad (3/5) A simple salad containing spring mix lettuce with light dressing and crispy tofu. Nothing special here 5. Kimchi Fried Rice (5/5) If you like carbs and eggs, this one is for you (ie. taking to myself). The kimchi flavor was robust, but not overpowering. The bed of egg it sits on added protein and gave it a "fluffiness" texture with each bite. 6. Chicken Platter (4.5/5) Aesthetically pleasing dish as it's served on a long wooden serving platter with 3 different flavors (sweet & spicy, soy garlic, and khanpung). The chicken was crispy and tender. The soy-garlic flavor was my favorite as it was more savory. The sweet & spicy flavor reminds me of regular sweet and sour chicken. The khanpung flavor (spicy garlic) was not too spicy and for some reason, it didn't have the same garlickiness compared to the soy garlic one. 7. Ondam Gimbap (4/5) Essentially Korean sushi filled with ham, picked radish (gave it a nice crunch), carrots, burdock root, egg, spinach and crab sticks). 8. Grilled Mackerel (3.5/5) I didn't try this, but one of my friends described it as, "simple and fresh." 9. Stir-Fried Squid (5/5) I also did not try this, but my friends all loved it. They described it as "fresh, has a good texture, and the sauce is addicting (contains green onions, carrot, pumpkin, jalapeño)." By the speed my friends devoured this dish at, I am giving it a 5/5. 10. LA Galbi (5/5) Super tender, juicy, and charred beef ribs that's perfectly marinated Overall, food was very good (5/5) Minus 1 star because of the service. They were really fast at getting the food out to us, but we felt really rushed by the staff. Seemed like they just wanted to get our large party out quick. Additionally, BEWARE ... if you have a large party, they automatically add on 18% gratuity fee. We did not pay attention to this and they did not tell us, so ended up giving another 18% tip, which in total was a 36%, which means ... that could've been another meal ;( read more
The ambiance of this place was nice. My family and I came here at around 11:30am for lunch and there wasn't a wait yet. We were seated pretty quickly and there was an ipad at the table for us to order food, which was really convenient. We got the seafood pancake, seafood soft tofu, bossam, and galbi tang. There was a wide variety of banchan and the food came quickly. I really liked the bossam! The seafood pancake was delicious too! read more

My boyfriend and I visited this place for the first time, and wow, I have no words to describe how incredible it was! I chose Korean food for our date night, and I'm so glad we decided to check out this hotspot. I've been looking forward to it, and thankfully, it was my turn to pick the place. The food looked amazing! Since it was a breezy evening, we were in the mood for some warm soup. I loved that they served us banchan on the side. My boyfriend really enjoyed the side dishes--they were that good! However, the star of the show was definitely the budae jjigae, which is one of my favorite Korean soups. I made sure to introduce him to it since he doesn't eat much Korean food, and he really enjoyed it! We ordered it mild to get just a hint of spice, and it turned out to be perfect. Note: it is hot, but incredibly delicious! The service was outstanding as well. It was really quick, which we appreciated. This place is truly amazing! One small drawback is that the door was a bit difficult to open, but that might just be because I'm weak. Overall, I would definitely go back--it was that amazing! read more

ondam is decent korean food, however, i dont think it's near worth the quality of the price of food esp compared to kunjip as a korean. servers r so busy and it is packed but also i think other places r much more attentive even without the ipad ordering service. it is also soooo loud in the resto so it was hard to hear my friends so if u want to socialize, it is a harder spot fyi read more
So much hype around this place, that really had me planning a whole excursion just to come here for a meal (prob. why it was also just OK for me). The restaurant is beautiful, although small they did a great job with lighting and decor to make it seem spacious enough. There is a traditional feel but in a modern and modest way that felt cozy. Service was simple - everything was ordered via the IPAD and food came out relatively fast. Menu had a unique variety compared to other Korean restaurants that were reminiscent of popular dishes that we had in Busan and Jeju island via our vacay last year. I've heard the wait times at dinner were insane - so the fam/I came on a weekend at an off time (like 130pm) and happily did not have to wait. The in-laws were excited to try the raw marinated crab (at which the hubby/I did not attempt) - but we opted for a few other popular dishes. Food talk: (1) Comp Side Dishes - tasty and good variety. (2) Spicy Pork Gimbap - this was tasty and def. better fresh than buying it at the supermarket. The pork had a lot of flavor and was very tender. (3) Raw marinated crab - personally not a fan of small blue crab, esp. if not cooked. BUT the in-laws loved it and said the flavor was great + quality was super fresh. (4) Fried Chicken Platter - meh, such a disappointment. This came out lukewarm and was just all for show. Such a large platter for tiny, cold pieces of chicken tenders with basic seasoning/sauces. Not worth the hype. (5) Beef Tofu Soup - this was good, very spicy and had great flavor depth + lots of beef as well. (6) Abalone Rice - this was fair, the abalone was fresh with good amount, while the rice was very tasty with the perf. crisp from the sizzling pot. (7) Seafood pancake - this was meh, lots of batter and just not as crispy as other places I've had, pretty light portion of seafood as well. Overall, none of the dishes we ate this time around were amazing enough for us to make a trip back (or warrant an hr.+ wait); BUT if around the area we did want to try two other dishes that we had in Jeju - Spicy Seafood Noodle Soup and Abalone Porridge - seemed like a lot of people ordered this while we were there, so maybe it's something that does set them aside from the other places. read more

Ondam has a very stylish setting and a place where you can come with friends and family to get full for a fair price! The chicken platter was phenomenal! The three different flavors of the chicken was something I've never had before and was very tasteful! Service was very quick because you can use the iPad to order. Quick tip, the parking lot is fairly small, so if possible come 10-15 minutes earlier to find parking. read more

Food is really good and service is so quick. You order everything on a tablet so it's easy to pick what you want that way. Fave items were the pork kimchi stew, seafood pancake, and bossam. It's a bit on the pricey end, but they are going for a more high-end type of vibe. It is very noisy inside and the seating can be a bit tight. There are also no reservations on weekends (including Fridays), so expect a wait depending on the day you go! The parking lot is very small and shares the whole lot with other businesses. You may need to park in the neighborhood and walk to the restaurant if you're not able to snag a spot in front. read more

The Beef Sotbap was the star--tender, savory, and the crispy rice at the bottom was perfection. For something refreshing, the Kimchi Cold Noodles had a fantastic tangy crunch. I also loved the modern twist on the Cheese Rice Cakes; they were perfectly chewy and addictive. Even the banchan spread was impressive, especially the creamy macaroni salad and fresh kimchi. Everything we ordered was really tasty, and the staff were super friendly. We also had a few other dishes like kimbap and rosé tteokbokki that I forgot to take pictures of, but they were all delicious too. This is a great spot to hang out with friends and enjoy good food. * KIMCHI FRIED RICE - 4.5 stars ($20.99): Would absolutely get this again. So delicious! * BULGOGI - 3.5 stars ($37.99): A generous portion, and caveat - I am not a bulgogi person I prefer kalbi. That being said it was just OK, was not reaching for seconds. * PORK BELLY BOSSAM - 4 stars ($49.99): I love how it came with all the different sides, the different textures and combinations really made this a hit. * Jjambbong Kalgukusu - 3 stars ($25.99): Generous portion, good value, but would want to try the Yuk Gae Jang (spicy beef soup - my faaave). * DESSERT - 3.5 stars: Complimentary sweet rice icy soup. Ondam hit the spot on a chilly day in the bay. My friends and I stopped by for a late lunch after seeing good reviews about the bossam. I have never had restaurant bossam before and was really excited to try it out. The restaurant is located in an inconspicuous strip mall. The first thing you see when you walk up to the front is a very heavy, somewhat imposing double door. This motif is recreated on their menus, which is a cute touch. Despite the fact that we rocked up at 3pm, there were still a decent number of parties eating. However, we were seated quickly and able to place our order fuss-free. As we also had dinner plans, my friends and I ordered light (for us). We got the bossam as well as the clam kalguksu. As we waited for those to arrive, we enjoyed the warm, toasty aroma of the barley tea and sampled the banchan that was placed before us. I always judge a Korean restaurant by the kimchi and stir fried fish cakes, and Ondam passed with high marks for both dishes. The kimchi was flavorful in a way that many store bought kimchis lack. It wasn't just spicy sour napa cabbage, but an amalgamation of sweet, sour, funky, spicy, and umami that made for the perfect bite, even by itself. The fish cake had the perfect texture and tasted fresh and flavorful, with no fishiness. So often the fish cake stir fry feels like an afterthought or a day-old prep, but it did not taste like that here. Already off to an amazing start, and our mains hadn't even arrived yet! Our bossam came to the table in a massive plate, with Napa for making wraps as well as wrap ingredients served alongside it. I wanted a bite with everything, so I snagged a Napa leaf and piled it high with the soft pork belly, garlic and jalapeño, ssamjang, and both cabbage and radish kimchi. I had to open wide like a pelican to eat my wrap, but as soon as the flavors burst out between my teeth, I was hooked. The meat is so tender and incredibly aromatic. Though the color almost resembles Chinese style braised pork, the flavor is nothing like it. It is a little herbal and sweet with a deep flavor, pairing perfectly with the fatty but not greasy meat. The pungent, sour, and spicy flavors of the other wrap ingredients keep the meat from being overwhelming, and each bite made me want more. The clam kalguksu was also fantastic. The broth was deceptively light and bursting with flavor from the clam brine. Minus 0.5 points for sand in some of the clams, but I'm rounding up overall because of how good everything tasted. There were plenty of clams, none of which were rubbery and overcooked, as well as. tender potato and perfectly chewy noodles. The rough, hand-cut texture of the noodles picked up that broth perfectly, and it was even more delicious with the kimchi. This probably ties with the chicken kalguksu from hangari kalguksu as my favorite kalguksu dishes I've ever tasted, and I cannot wait to order it again in the future. Ondam is a bit pricy but the food here is INCREDIBLE. It's definitely one of the standout Korean restaurants I have tried in the Bay, and I would love to come back for more kalguksu, bossam, and to try everything else on the menu I have the stomach space for! read more
If you have a party of 7 or more on weekends, show up before 6pm or else you would need to wait for more than an hour. They are best for 6 or fewer. Bulgogi kimbap: 3.5/5 not bad. It is all about the sauce! Fried chicken platter: 4.5/5. Great combo with a good dipping sauce! My only complaint: they are not crispy enough. Must-have!!! Seafood pancake: 3/5. No surprises. Decent. Not a must-have, but still a good option for appetizer Tteokbokki: 4/5. Love the other ingredients other than rice cake. It transforms the comfort food to another level. Beef tartar with rice: 3/5. No surprises there. Can do without. Bossam: 4/5. A lot of meat. My complaint: not enough veggies to wrap. I'd prefer lettuce over cabbage. Wish they provide that. Wood steamer: 3.5/5. Not enough meat for that price. The sauces are great though! Might not order that again. If you haven't had it, it's still a good option to try. read more

5 stars for my first visit here and 3.5 stars for my second. The side dishes are always unique and interesting. This time we had sweet red beans. The beef kimbap was different from the first time, this time it didn't taste as refreshing (maybe missing a garnish) and the rice is a bit mushy. The kalbi was the biggest rip off. It is the thinnest cut of shortrib I have ever seen and you only get 8 pieces. $39. The flavor is more savory than sweet, not a complaint but also not impressed. Seafood soondubu- comes with a crab cluster. Tastes like how it is supposed to. Seafood pancake- very doughy this time. They give you a honey cookie for dessert. Portions are big and should be ordered with family style in mind. Ambiance is amazing! Love the lighting, the setup of the restaurant as every seating option feels very intimate for date nights or group parties. Their chicken, bibimbap and so much more taste good!
