You guys are slipping. I go here at least once a week and the quality has gotten progressively worse over the past month. The meat tastes almost microwaved, and you have successfully messed up my personal queso three times in a row. The first time you gave me a bag of broken chips. Not like half-size, but a literal bag of crumbs. The second time (last week) the queso was practically water. And today, the steak meat had a funny taste to it and the queso was burned. I admit, the name has caught my eye more than once. "ONE TACO"... I mean, come on - someone was being creative when they thought of that. I enjoy the name. It peaked my interest. I allowed myself to stop one week night. The pro is that they take credit cards. That's about it. I could go on and on about cons, but in my opinion the two most undesirable aspects of this experience at ONE TACO was: 1) the price 2) the taste I have been to other taco stands that charge $1.50 or $1.75 for a taco. In fact, Freebirds charges somewhere around $1.59 or $1.60 for a taco. I realize that other local taco places like Taco Deli or Taco Shack charge at least $2.00 or $2.50 a taco, but I feel like I'm getting something more delicious from those companies. Now about the taste... the meat in my taco was heavily salted or seasoned with something I'm not quite sure. The corn tortilla was not a corn tortilla at all. It was somewhere between a limp chip from a restaurant and a tortilla that wished it was corn. I'm not quite sure what that was that I ate. You can give this place a try if you want. They might have other menu items that are worthy, but you're honestly better off going somewhere that's cheaper and possibly more authentic. read more

I stopped by their place on my way into work and was not impressed. They have really good sounding tacos so I was pretty excited about my order. Then the lady hands me this tiny bag that I had just paid almost $5 for. I bring it to work, unwrap my tacos and was at once disappointed by the size of the taco. Not because it was small, heavens knows portions shouldn't be as gigantic as they have become, but because I had paid almost $3 a taco for the contents of a $1 taco. I took a bite of each taco to taste...the meat taco was greasy and needed salt. I also ordered a plain refried bean taco whose contents turned out to be an odd looking orange bean puree of overcooked beans dotted with maybe 6 half smashed beans. Maybe next time I will try a taco with egg in it and give it a second chance but thus far....not impressed for the price of the taco. I could have gotten one big taco that tasted better with less hassle for the same price of one of their tacos from a different location closer to work than the measly greasy taco I just had from this place and needed two of just to fill up. Every Woody's has a food option, and this one's not bad in a pinch....say, you haven't drinken in some time but are so excited by the new frozen margs that you drink three right off the bat and need sustenance quickly... (I will note I ate here once before. However, it was during the 2010 National Championship game, and after the Longhorns first drive, all things tasted bitter.) This time I ordered the chips and guacamole, a chili taco, and a taco they had on special. At $4.50 the chips and guac are waaaay overpriced. Ok, so you get an entire bag of chips, but they basically go to waste because you have no desire to eat the guac. It's like avocado baby food with some pico on top. It's not the worst guac I've ever had, but I don't think I'd intentionally eat it again. The chili taco was for my date and at 99 cents is a sweet deal. It's just a little jalapeno chopped up with some cheese in a mini corn tortilla. A couple of those with your beer and you'd be all set. My special taco was Steak, Bacon, and Guacamole, and it pretty darn good despite the fact it had that green paste on it. (To One Taco's credit - on a taco, the guac seemed fine. Then again, the addition of bacon could make a turd tasty.) For under $3 I was extremely happy with the both the size and taste of this taco. Guacamole is so essential; I must stop at three stars. But the other items lived up to expectation, so I will most definitely return for another go around. read more

YUM. I was at Little Woodrow's when I realized how hungry I was. Ooooh - a taco place. I wasn't going to get all worked up about a taco place by a bar that didn't look very traditional. I am all about my Riverside/East side tacos. I got an Al Pastor and Gowalla, and both were exceptional. After scarfing those two down, I even got up to go get another Al Pastor because I just NEEDED another. It's cool that they will "deliver" to Little Woodrows (walk over from the stand) while you are drinking. What a great combo! read more

One Taco is totally fine, but really, nothing overly special. I park in the lot across the street for work every day, so occassionally if I'm having "one of those mornings" I'll stop in for a breakfast taco and it is consistently a very nice breakfast taco. But I mean, hey, let's get real here. They aren't reinventing the wheel and this bad boy is $3. Same for their lunch tacos, nicely cooked meat, very acceptable salsas. Reasonable flavor. And while One Taco is totally solid in it's own right, it's no Torchys, and $3+ for a single taco is a little steep. I'll eat here again, and I will be satisfied, but probably never wowed. read more

I have been wanting to check this place out for a while, I work 4 blocks away, and have tried 2 previous times and they were closed... even during SXSW when there was a great amount of Hungry foot traffic around... oh well 3rd times a charm??? I had to try al Pastor and the Gowalla (beef taco with Guac and bacon...) Both seem a little pricey but that is pretty much going trailer food rates... The Al Pastor had a decent flavor, have had better but no complaint about the flavor, but the pork was way dry in my book (and I prefer the pineapple to be at least slightly grilled but no deductions for this) I tried to offset it with some salsa but only got one tiny portion of red sauce and one tomatillo. so had to use very sparingly. The Gowalla was decent, the beef could use a little more flavor, but it was decent... since the menu said "steak" was in the taco I did not expect shredded beef, not sure if this is misleading or false advertising or what? Love the guac and the Queso Fresca! The bacon was in small bacon bits, when it says "bacon" on the description I expect at least some larger chunks of bacon so I can get more of the bacon flavor. If you are putting tiny portions of tiny bacon crumblings in the taco please denote it as such on the menu, another misleading menu description. Side note: In my mind the expression of their marketing reads that you just need "One Taco, done." as in our tacos are large, almost burrito size but little smaller and all you need is one and you are done. This is not true, and after spending over $9 on tacos I guess I have food in me and don't need much more, but I am not quite satisfied... read more

I came here to use a Lunch Deal coupon, and I was wondering... how can a friend and I possibly spend $20 at a taco trailer? Well... I was proved wrong; it was easy to spend $20 on 5 tacos here. Normally, expensive prices can be justified by an outrageous taco, but the ones here are pretty normal. Basically, everything has their queso fresco in it. The corn tortillas are hot and fresh here, and they are huge. That being said, normally good tacos are pretty petite, so these monstrous things were a bit excessive. I had a Gowalla, and guacamole was squirting out the top, and the salty beef was falling out of the sides. Using too much filling can be a bad thing... unless you are Chipotle (you can never go wrong with an overstuffed guy there). So the Gowalla was meat-heavy, but the Spicy Veggie was boring without meat. It literally only had corn (on a corn tortilla!), hot sauce, and queso fresco. Talk about a case of the terrible taco. The taquizas was a platter of 5 tortillas covered in chicken or steak, tons of melted cheese, and "One Taco" sauce. The sauce was sour cream plus thousand island... I am almost positive. The chicken was alright, and the melted cheese was pretty excessive. The small tortillas did not really hold up to the heavy top, either. One Taco is not one of my recommendations for tacos, but it does the job and fills you up. It is a bit pricey, and the tacos are not amazing, but if the 'cos were a dollar cheaper, they would definitely go up in my book. read more

I got a personal queso ($3), the Adwalla, and the steak taco. The steak marinade was decent, I liked the flavor. The quality of the meat was just decent, sort of gristley. Overall the Adwalla was a decent taco. Lots of people have complained about the prices which are on par with torchy's but a little high for the quality. My biggest problem and the reason this gets 2 instead of 3 stars was the queso. My chips were legitimately stale. It's one thing to not make fresh tortilla chips in a truck, I can understand how that's a challenge. It's another to sell chips that are stale. The queso was just mediocre, I'm pretty sure it's just made with land-o-lakes Extra Melt. I probably won't go back, I certainly would never get chips here again. The tacos are pretty average but I wouldn't go here if I had other options, especially considering the price. read more

Stumbled upon this food truck while going on a walk down W 6th St in search of random places to get a quick to go lunch to bring back to the office. It was about 1:45pm at this point, so they were just about to close up for the afternoon. After ordering, my tacos came out in just a few minutes and the worker at the window as extremely polite and friendly. One Taco is a food truck nestled right next to Little Woodrow's and across the street from Star Bar. I did notice a few wooden outdoor tables in front if you decided to eat there. I can imagine this would be a great stop late at night after making your rounds at the bars on W 6th. Gotta have the late night munchies! I ordered the al pastor and steak taco which were wrapped in aluminum foil and put in a little paper bag for me along with napkins and 4 saucers of their salsa verde. Pretty standard sized tacos for the price. Both tacos were a win for me. The meat was nice and tender and extremely flavorful. My only complaint is that the tortilla did taste slightly buttery, which I personally don't mind. But for those out there who are more health conscious or just don't like the taste of butter, it's something to consider. Their salsa verde wasn't spicy but added just enough flavor to the tacos to tie everything together. Will most likely come back here with coworkers in the future since it's so close by! read more

One Taco is a food truck/taco stand that has counter service only. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The service is fast. You will not wait long for a taco. They also have non alcoholic drinks. There is some seating nearby. If you want something fermented, there is a bar next door. The tacos are corn, flour, or wheat tortillas. They are standard street taco size. A meal is at least two and maybe three. That being said, they are fairly inexpensive. I find the chicken tacos quite tasty. The breakfast tacos are also great for a quick bite. In short, fast service and great tacos. What more do you want? read more

We had this taco trailer on site for a work event, and it was great. They knock themselves out and make some darn good tacos. Pork seems to be their thing, lucky for me. A bit pricey, like most of the Austin food trucks and trailers, but worth it every once in a while. I love the enthusiasm of most of the folks running these trailers--including One Taco--they are excited about what they are doing, and it shows. If you want a bland cheap taco, like some of these reviewers seem to want, there's Taco Bell or Taco Cabana. One and done. No comparisons are necessary, as Tacos come in all shapes and sizes. My favorite of course being the 3 for $1 deals in Tijuana, but I'm not there, and don't plan on being...possibly ever again. I am in Austin, and its my goal to try every truck based meal I possibly can without gaining 200 lbs or going broke. Made two stops the other night after a short round of KUNG FU and Skee-Ball. One Taco was one of them. Had a chicken taco, as steak and chicken were the only options at 1am. I was perplexed by the menu and the choice of ingredients per taco. Nothing was normal, and I made the assumption that pico de gallo or salsa or onions & cilantro would be included on every taco...my mistake. The portions were acceptable, good amount of chicken and cheese, with a hint of whatever sauce they used (chipotle i think?). For $3 though.... I don't think its worth it. Maybe they are better for breakfast tacos... EDIT: Went back with a friend. Got the "Traditional". Much better than the Chicken mistake, but still just a traditional Mexican taco for a bit more than I care to pay for a decent quantity. My question is this.... Soooo good. Don't let the fact that it is a small food truck at a bar! Let chips and queso were excellent. The chips weren't too salty and they were not stale, they were crispy and perfect. The queso has a great cheesy taste with some spices but they weren't too overwhelming and made the queso so good! Now the tacos! I got both steak and one was steak with chorizo. O man, I am dreaming of these tacos. The steak had this creamy avocado sauce that plus cheese in a perfect size tortilla. The tortillas weren't too thick to make you feel guilty. Just the perfect meal and size. The chorizo and steak taco was meaty and full of cheese as well with some pico and was well seasoned. The price isn't bad either, 4 taco and a large chips and queso for $21. The only downside is the chips weren't really that large and we definitely needed more to eat the rest of our queso! Would 100% eat here again. I would actually go to Little Woodrow's just to eat there. read more

Went to visit a friend of mine to Austin, and we went to 6th street to Little Woodrow's to watch a game and have a beer, and to my surprise there was a new taco stand called One Taco. I got hungry after a while and decided to try them and Ohh My God!!! These are one GOOD tacos!!! Just to give you an idea I tried 4 different kinds and had 12 tacos in total. I really recommend the place and definately think they bring something different to the table as to the rest of the options in downtown. I think the corn tortilla is completely different as to the rest of the taco stands and really made me remember the ones i had back in Mexico. I thought I had reviewed this restaurant when I was in Austin but it looks like it may not have gone thru. I was working in Austin for about a month and was introduced to this small place by work associates when I was looking for lunch. It is small but the staff are great and the food is simple yet fantastic. The guys even remembered my name since I was there pretty much every day for lunch or dinner. I had them modify the tacos with no cheese or sauce and combined with other clean eating I did while in the city, I actually lost bodyfat, and I was eating 3-4 of these tacos a day. That's not something that one might associate with eating tacos every day for a month, but the chicken and steak are very tasty and pretty lean. If I'm ever in Austin again, I will absolutely be back. Good stuff, guys!! read more

We've been here twice: once at 9pm when we were starved and wanted tacos, and once for a late lunch and a beer from Woodrow's next door. The guy in the One Taco truck invited us to take a seat at the bar and he'd deliver our tacos to us, he said. And true to his word...! I've had the same pair of tacos twice now--one Steak, one "Relax," which is One's veggie-and-refried-bean option--and I really enjoy both! The steak is scrumptious, but that veggie option is also tasty and filling. One of my dining partners, visiting from NYC, heartily recommended the al pastor after trying it, and my husband confirms it's now his fave as well. The tacos themselves are priced to move, and the folks in the truck are friendly and courteous. We live nearby, so I'm stoked to try their breakfast tacos too! read more

We arrived in Austin late on a weekday night and were walking around downtown trying to find a place to eat when we stumbled upon one taco. David is such a friendly guy, he told us all about the tacos and gave great suggestions. I tried the Norte and Bandara- I loved the bandara with chicken and sliced avocado on top. He gave us a bunch of hot sauce (the red is very yummy, and the green sauce adds a kick which was great for those that like some extra spice!) My fiancé tried the two other tacos, one with pineapple which was such a unique flavor - I highly recommend if you're interested in something different. He also got the one with bacon, you could really taste the bacon and combined with cheese made a delicious pair. I would recommend one taco for good food that hits the spot, but also for great, friendly service! read more

This place sucks, their al pastor taco had pork that was old and crusty and had clearly been sitting around all day because it was dry and crusty. For some reason they decided that adding pineapple to an al pastor taco was a good idea, maybe because the pork was so dry, but putting pineapple in an al pastor taco is retarded. read more

One Taco was the beacon of light at the end of the tunnel for me. It was like, duh, no brainer! I ordered a fajita taco and a pastor taco. These two tacos made me moan in mexican food pleasure. Best tacos I've ever had! I went back the following day because I loved them so much. Both times I got the original chicken taco and the gringa taco. They were consistently delicious on both days. The meat seasoned wonderfully and cooked perfectly. Everything in the tacos was chopped small, so they're easy to bite into and you don't end up pulling out a bunch of the filling at once. Wow - what the hell happened here with the 2.5 star rating on YELP??!! Very confused. The truck was parked outside Starbar and after a few toxic concoctions, this little piggy needed to fill his belly. I tried the Al Pastor Gringa and the Steak Gowalla....no pineapples on the Gringa BTW! I thought it was very good. Not over the top to die for but damn good for late night tacos! Friendly staff and efficient service including using an IPAD as the checkout screen for your credit card orders. Will definitely be back and I hope more people try it (late night of course!) and help this local Austin eatery improve on their YELP score rating! read more

Ate at this taco stand on a Thursday night without any alcohol inducements and I originally was quite pleased until I read another review and figured out that my Gringa taco had no pineapples on it?!?!?! I originally thought I just scarfed down the taco so quick I didn't notice but now it all makes sense. It seems they don't put pineapples on the Gringa despite the menu. WTF I'm not one to ordinarily gripe about pineapples but that was half the sell of going here and THE MENU STATED THAT PINEAPPLES WERE TO BE HAD. Came here late one night for some snickity snacks and realized there weren't too many veggie options. No matter tho! Got the cheese quesadilla for 2.50 and it was YUM YUM. Like, yo, what is the situation with these low ratings? It's good! And it's cheap!! Love cheap! And it's between three bars, which is always fun. But yeah, the cheese quesadilla was the perfect size and was actually WAY tasty for just being a quesadilla. Very cheesy, which is good. Also, this place has kickass sauce.
