Went to the restaurant during opening. Place was completely empty, and for some reason no one was out the counter to take the order. After waiting a while at the counter a lady came out to take my order. Ordered the bbq chicken and shrimp combo by pointing to a paper menu on the counter in front and was told to wait about 10-15 minutes. That's fair, so coming back to my order I was told they ran out of sauce for the bbq chicken. I'm not really a sauce guy so it wasn't too big of a deal, and took my order back. The biggest caveat was opening my order and finding a regular Katsu combo, without shrimp. I was a bit confused since I specifically pointed out what I wanted to the lady with my fingers, so the feeling kinda lasted the whole meal with some disappointment. I would get it if the place was busy and getting a wrong order but I recalled ordering with no one else there, so I'm kinda baffled I still had my order messed up Also, they've seemed to run out of the promotional gift card credit with 30$ in gift cards. Ive yet to have any bad experience at this new location. Guess it all depends on what time of the day you show up. I usually get here around Noonish after a quick workout at the gym down the street. Ordered ahead over the phone , well worth the drive from eagle rock. The fish plate is delicious, really good with the tartar sauce they offer My favorite has to be the beef plate , beyond good . The workers are nice and attentive. The parking here isn't great. The biggest con about this Onos is the portion size. They were pretty good the first couple of times we ate there but they have been skimping. Extremely disgusted, my husband went yesterday to pick up dinner for us and come to find out that after a few bites of his macaroni salad there's a hair in it. We've never had a problem at the Ono Hawaiian barbecue on Valley in Alhambra we've been going there for years and never ever have we had an issue like this. After this incident we will not be going back to this location again. When I called to file a complaint there was no manager on duty and there was no supervisor on duty that was very disturbing to me because no matter what there should always be somebody in charge and supervising what's going on checking orders and making sure that things are OK before they are sent out. I asked the other employee for teriyaki sauce and utensils, only got teriyaki sauce. I had to ask for a third time. Upon arriving at home, we realized there was no rice with our order. I looked at the receipt to check if it came with our order and sure enough it was on there. I called to let them know and the female who answered had the audacity to say I can get it another day. Because this is a food chain I do not have high expectations. For the most part it gets the job done but I was actually really disappointed and disgusted. For one, I ordered a Chicken Katsu with a side of short rib kalbi and did not receive the sauce and the side was literally one for 4.90. I also got the BBQ MIX plate the Beef was undercooked, the short ribs were also undercooked, and chicken was chewy from still being uncooked. Only problem was that when I walked in there were no other customer and the cashier asked if me if I could wait. In most instances with places I love to frequent, when I have a bad experience I tend to give them the benefit of the doubt. With that being said, this will be my last visit to this location. The stigma with delivery services had my previous experience less than satisfactory and I decided the safest bet would be to visit them in person to get my food not only fresh but to get a better portion than having them carelessly toss food into a box for someone they don't have to deal with in person. It seems like the portion sizes have dramatically dropped in size, where one plate would be enough to fill you up and have a little later for a snack or even lunch in some smaller peoples case, now you barely have enough food for a guy like me to get full. I got the Kalua Pork and Katsu Chicken meal, however it was more like the recession meal. Half a scoop of the Pork and 5 or 6 small pieces of chicken that was 40% breading and a half a scoop of the Mac salad. If it weren't for 2 scoops of rice, I'd still be hungry while typing this. I get the times that were in and all, with fluctuations in the prices in food and everything but this is just ridiculous. $47 for 3 people? Unbelievable.. After a long day at work I came here with my family to pick up dinner and left very upset. I feel with any restaurant it's all about customer service and for that I give them one star. We were serviced by Lizabeth who was so rude to us. It was like dealing with a child. She was acting very immature at one point when I was about to order she turned around to gossip with her coworker. It felt like she was more focused on social hour than actually working. The macaroni salad is delicious! I'm not even a fan of macaroni salads but this one is great. The lemon chicken well it's a hit or a miss. There are times where it taste great and then there are times when the chicken taste old and rubbery. I wish they would bring back the mahi mahi that was so yummy. The food is decent but service is just horrible. During this covid thing, they did a decent job of social distancing patrons coming in for take out orders. I ordered take out and perhaps it's my mistake for assuming they got my order right but when they called my number and I showed them my receipt with order number on it to confirm. After a long day of work, I thought I got my family's dinner covered. When we unpackaged the food, I found they got my order wrong and what they gave mean cost less than what I originally ordered. I called to see if I could just get a reimbursement of the difference as I didn't want to waste another hour having them remake everything. I even offer to send pictures of the erroneous order. The person on the phone not only was unapologetic but accused me of taking somebody else's food when I had showed the person at the counter my receipt.
