I had a craving for Hawaiian macaroni salad so I went to Ono Hawaiian BBQ. It wasn't busy at all. The place was very clean. After looking over the menu, I wanted to have the kalua pork. I asked the cashier what other item she recommended as a combo, which comes with steamed cabbage and broccoli and, of course, steamed rice. She offered the chicken katsu because it was popular. Since it took some time for my food, I figured that it was cooked to order, which is a good sign. I took my lunch back to work because I wasn't that hungry at the time, but I did have some macaroni salad. I had my lunch an hour or so later. I was thinking that the katsu was going to be dry since it had been sitting in the container. I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't, it was very tender, even after warming it up in the microwave for a short time. Ohhh, the kalua pork and macaroni salad were on point! So good! I'll have to try their spam musubi next time, one of my favorites. read more

Still love this Hawaiian BBQ place!! I alwasy stop here on my way back home after visiting family in the Bay Area. I always order the same thing: chicken katsu plate with no veggies and 2 mac salad scoops. They put more rice under the chicken so I end up with about the same amount of rice. I get three sauces, one pump of katsu sauce with a dab of teriyaki in the middle. I get a large soda with lots of ice because I usually have an extra can of coke from my Mom with me!! Then I set it all up on my passenger's seat and eat it while I drive south towards home. Often there is traffic right here going south so I sit in the traffic and eat my food without getting stressed out. Then I dump the trash when I hit the Goodwill in Soledad!! read more

First the place was so hot..I think the a/c was off. Second the place was down right dirty. Watch this guy with long hair in a braid. clear a table and just push all the food onto floor and just left it there. The food that we ordered was good, but looking at it, it was just throw in boxes. Both the grilled chicken and the white fish were very good. I thought the kids meals were very generous with meat, broccoli, rice, an apple sauce pouch (easy to save for later), and apple juice. We love to get dinner here. The teriyaki chicken is super good. We love their beef plates and their Musubi is really excellent too. The plates come with rice and macaroni salad, although I usually substitute the Mac for green salad or extra rice. The portions are generous meaning there is usually enough left over that I have another meal the next day. All in all everyone loves this place. read more

September 2025 The service here is absolutely terrible. The register workers don't care, on their phones and completely ignore customers. My order sat, ready this go, in a bag for over 15 minutes while the workers played slap ass. The kitchen workers were hustling so this is no complaint against them. We love the bbq chicken and bbq beef w Mac salad. Very good and has become our go to order.

The beef was tough and chewy. I spit out most of it as inedible. The rice was clumpy and unappetizing.

Keiki meal is where it's at. It's perfect for my baby. It has the right amount of meat and rice. The chicken katsu came with 5 pieces of katsu and steamed broccoli. Also my baby couldn't eat it all so I got the left overs. read more

I like that Ono has a mini meal because I don't like getting a lot of food that I can't finish. Their chicken katsu always hits the spot especially with their teriyaki sauce. Every time I go in I get helped right away and never have to wait too long for my food. The girls at the cashier are polite and friendly. Had the BBQ mix with katsu. Katsu was good, but the beef rib and sliced beef were ok, kinda chewy. Pricey for just 1 rib ($17). Consistency is key. As far as my personal experience, this location has always been consistent with their quailty. Reading through some of the other reviews on here, it seems like maybe some of the stresses and pressures of the recent pandemic had some influence on some other yelper's experiences. . However, I feel like given the crazy circumstances restaurants faced and had to figure out how to navigate, some grace should be given to the employees and business owners during it all. . Personally I never noticed the rudeness that others have mentioned. Maybe I got lucky, or maybe I just appreciated the fact that there were businesses that did the best they could to stay open during such a weird time in our history. . All that said, I've always been happy with the quality of the food and the portion sizes. One dish in particular that I enjoy is their island fire chicken. Prior to discovering Ono, I used to enjoy a similar spicy chicken dish from a (relatively) nearby restaurant in San Jose, but their quality kept slipping and slipping to the point where I stopped going. (And that was pre 2020) Once I tried the island fire chicken from Ono, I had a new spot to get some great spicy chicken and haven't looked back! The other chicken options, pork, and beef have all been really tasty as well. . Don't forget to try their appetizers too! . My only reason for dropping one star is that when we get the aloha plates, the salad often doesn't have much dressing on it. However, the times when we ask for (and pay for) an extra to-go cup of dressing, the salads magically have an abundance of dressing on them. It's like entering the land flowing with milk and honey, but in this case it's their house dressing. (Don't get me wrong, the dressing tastes great) I just wish it was more consistent. The times we forget to ask for extra dressing we're often a little bummed at the lack of dressing. But you know what, that's a pretty small issue to have when everything else has held up and always turns out great. read more

For their reasonable price, the quantity and quality of food, I'd say they deserve 5 stars for sure! They prepare food when we call in, chicken donkatsu and fried shrimps were still piping hot and crispy when we brought them home. They got the rice right and we get plenty of vegetables! Their only short comings would be the sauces. Teriyaki sauce was too gooey for my taste and the other sauce(BBQ?) lacked flavor. I've had their chicken katsu and their mix bbq just as tasty. I've also had their spam and egg. Best Hawaiian bbq in Morgan Hill! I love having the order ahead and door dash options from a restaurant and Ono offers both. The food is always freshly cooked and the sauce options are great too. I've tried the mixed platter and the shrimp/fish platter, both were very good. I wish you could swap out the rice for another side dish on the door dash app, not everyone loves rice.
