I was craving katsu chicken. I wanted to try Ono since I've been to the other Hawaiian BBQ place, and Ono didn't disappoint. The chicken was crispy, and the mac salad had just the right amount of mayo. My mom and Grandma ordered from their lighter menu, and I think I'll do that next time. There are many options on the menu, from smaller portions to lighter fares. The only thing I didn't like was the parking. But every parking lot in Tracy sucks, and I've come to expect that now with every new development. read more

I tried Ono Hawaiian BBQ in Tracy for the first time this week and I have to say I was actually impressed with the food. I had been to the Manteca location before and wasn't a fan and I'm glad I had a better experience here in town. First thing I noticed when I walked in was the modern decor and the cleanliness of the restaurant. I was immediately greeted from across the room by the girl at the front counter, just like they do at Jamba Juice. When I finally went to order I noticed that it was really noisy in the restaurant! All of the cooking/frying noise in the background in combination with the music they have playing, made it hard for me to hear the girl at the front counter when I had questions about the menu. That wasn't fun. I decided on the Kalua Pork & Chicken Katsu plate. I ordered at 5:32 and got my meal to go at 5:41, so almost a 10 minute wait. Although this is longer than most fast food places, I feel that the wait is comprable to what I have experienced at L&L in town. The food was yummy! Not over done or too greasy. I have had some greasy Kalua Pork before and it was nice to get the same flavor without all the oil. I only wish they had more plating options. I like that L&L has mini plates and protein plates, which is usually what I end up getting. There wasn't an option for that when I inquired. Horrible service. Can't take orders correctly. And no concern for customers time. I purchased a number one combo at lunch no macaroni salad. All I got was rice and chicken no cabbage! I called to complain and Vanessa said they'd make it right next time just to ask for her or shift leader. Went in 3 days later for lunch again and I was chastised by the manager Mike Bui. His words were "all we forgot was the cabbage? Well I can't do anything for you or about that." Since my lunch is only half hour I purchased again and left only because I would not have had a meal if not. Fried shrimp was mostly breading. Chicken katsu didn't seem fresh and was over cooked. Mac in mac salad wasn't boiled long enough thus hard and under cooked. The only thing cooked right was the rice which was soft and had enough water. That in itself is usually the one item that isn't cooked right in most fast food restaurants. read more

Came here to get the coconut haupia for my mom. It's a sweet coconut dessert that they make. I have tried the BBQ chicken plates (chicken BBQ, beef BBQ, BBQ Korean ribs) and their seafood plates (varies depending on time of year - shrimp, fish) and they have tasted good as well. Wait time can sometimes be long if you walk-in (15-30 minutes depending on how busy they are) but you can always call your order in ahead for pick up. read more

This place is AMAZING! I have been to my fair share of Hawaiian BBQ places in Hawaii & CA...and this place was a pleasant surprise! First of all, when we go these types of places I usually don't order anything bc there isn't much (if anything) in the way of a healthy selection. This was definitely not the case at Ono! I ordered a wonderful salad that was SO beautiful and delicious. The veggies were beautiful, bright and scrumptious! The lemon pepper chicken was grilled to perfection-so juicy and flavorful! I was FULL with my wonderful salad, but I still tasted the kids chicken katsu and my husband's volcano chicken and they were both just as good! Thought I'd update my review with the quality of food that was purchased at this establishment. I decided to go for quantity over quality. I called another "hawaiian bbq" establishment to get an idea of what they charge for a family meal deal. I decided to go with Ono's since it was much cheaper and I didn't feel like paying nearly $60 for a family meal on a tuesday night. I give Ono's that, they have good prices for that family meal. 6 scoops of rice and mac salad, 3 trays/boxes, half size, of entrees. Although the weight of the tray/box for each entree was quite heavy. I found that the majority of the weight is because they put so much cabbage at the bottom of each tray/box. I decided to order the bbq chicken, bbq beef, and chicken katsu. The katsu was too greasy/oily. It leaves that taste in your mouth of just vegetable oil coating your entire palette. BBQ beef was decent although not very flavorful. Same thing with the BBQ chicken. I found adding more teriyaki sauce did the trick to enhance the flavor. I didn't want to give these guys my business but trying to find dinner in a pinch for 5 to 6 people at an affordable price, this was my only option at the moment. read more

I've had ono Hawaiian in other places like Oakland, Richmond etc... but holy fuck!!! This place is DELICIOUS. My gf and I ordered the family meal. It came with lemon grilled chicken, teriyaki chicken, short ribs, macaroni and rice. It was really really good! Meats were all tender and juicy (we had it delivered and it still tasted fresh). Beware.. this place is probably using people's left over food to serve you. I ordered the seafood mix and was given the fried shrimp and bbq chicken (same plate just no fried fish) mix instead. This is no error of mine but in the middle of eating this, the cashier brought me my correct order and told me that I got the wrong one. Then she reached out like she was going to grab the one I was currently eating to take it, so I was like, "um aren't you going to throw this away anyways? Why don't you just let me keep it? It's not like you can serve it since I ate out of it." She replies, "No, I can't serve it." Then she looks around like she didn't know what to do then goes into the kitchen. Then another lady from the kitchen comes to me and tells me that I can't keep the other plate because it's a whole other order. So I just gave the incorrect order back to her. All in all, yes I got what I paid for. , but what kind of customer service is this? Like you really rather throw it away then just comp one plate? Or is the reason why you want it back is because you want to reuse the food that I ate out of to give to someone else? To start, I would like to say the staff was very pleasant and service was very prompt. So far very good. The down side was the food, the BBQ beef. Although the flavor was ok, the meat was very tough. What came out was a styrofoam take out bin (why not a plate?) with fried and breaded fish and shrimp and some BBQ chucked, some white rice macaroni salads on top of some cabbage. I usually order to go asking for no rice and more Mac salad. That sounds just like i asked. So every SINGLE time i order that, they change my rice to Mac salad but take away the vegetables??? The girls up front waste time, do not pay attention to food that is ready to be served to the paying customers. Mr./Ms. manager, pay attention to your store.
