We just recently found this place as we went to Starbucks next door. New and clean place. The food was surprisingly good. The portions are big too :) I like the spicy chicken and really enjoyed the steamed veggies on the side, great combo for me. The gentleman was at the counter on the computer, however, waited for three full minutes to even acknowledge he was there. He finally said I can take your order in just a couple minutes. I went to eat here with my kids today and ordered a BBQ Chicken all rice no veggies and a Mahi Mahi plate. BBQ chicken plate was fine but my Mahi Mahi plate didn't have the veggies or mac. I went back and told the cashier that my plate was missing the sides, as I was standing there she asked the grill guy (Indian guy) that he didn't give me my sides, so he told her that she didn't punch in the order right. I finally sat down and tried the corner of the Mahi Mahi and it was way over cooked and hard to chew, I tried the corner of the other filet and it was the same. So I went back to the same cashier and asked her If I can replace my plate with a BBQ chicken instead (by the way she was very nice and respectful at all times, don't know her name but she had a round ring thru her nostril) There was another cashier next to her counting register money, the Grill Guy came up and looked at my plate and just looked at me and said "I cant do nothing for you!" and I said why what? he said because I ate the plate, I said what! I ate the small corners of each filet and it was terrible! I asked for the manager and he pointed out that the cashier that was counting money was the manager. She just started laughing and said we can't do nothing for you and take your plate with you! So I asked for the next manager up, guess what? the grill guy said his the manager. I asked for someone higher in command and he wrote some number for me to call. I'm like hell no! The Grill guy manager told me "what I am I suppose to do with this plate if you already touch it" Like him saying I can't re-serve it to someone else!! So I stood there and we both looked each other in the eye with out blinking and he finally did the right thing and offered to make me a new plate. I don't understand why customers have to go thru all this drama for a $10 plate, don't these employees know that with out us they have no jobs. I had to repeat my order several times to the cashier and yet my order was incorrect on my receipt. I didn't ask for anything complicated but rather the lack of attention was given to my order request. This issue worries me considering they're cooking the food I eat and feed my family. I like this place... just got back from Hawaii, and no this probably isn't quite as good as a plate lunch there, but all the same it's tasty and you get a lot of food. In two visits I've tried the BBQ beef, the panko-breaded Island white fish, and the Kalua pork. They're all good. There are about 5 kinds of chicken on the menu, which I haven't tried. As long as they don't make them from the feral chickens that are running around on the islands there. Anyway, for my first visit, we got the "Family Combo" or whatever, where you pick three "meats", each served over a bed of steamed cabbage, and it comes with 6 scoops of rice and macaroni salad. Menu says it serves 4, but for us we got about 9 servings out of it (which does include 3 young kids). I think it's geared for a Kamakawiwo'ole sized family. Second visit we each got "aloha plates" which are your choice of 1 or 2 of the "meats" served over a bed of rice, with a salad on the side (which was kind of like a mix of shredded lettuce + cole slaw + edamame, with an asian-tasting dressing). My kids didn't like the salad much, so I ate some of theirs. Again quite large portions. I am not a big fan of the macaroni salad so this seemed like a better option to me than the plate lunch. Not much in the way of ambiance. One thing I am not sure of is what to do if you have more than 4 in your group, because the tables are all fixed in place and there are no tables for more than 4.
