Eating out during the pandemic is always strange. We were at Opa to celebrate a friend's birthday dinner. This place was PACKED - plexiglass between patrons at the bar but I genuinely felt like the tables and booths near the bar (where we were seated) were squeezed together and there wasn't much privacy or a 6 feet distance between parties. Ditto on the group of drunk men at the bar who kept on repeatedly trying to interrupt our conversations. My friends ribeye steak was excellent and my fettuccini Alfredo was delicious. Massive portions. However, one of my ladies ordered the mixed grille option and she wasn't too happy. The chicken Kabob was extremely dry and she was struggling to get it off the skewer. She ordered a side of tzatziki sauce but was given a side of sour cream instead. My friends and I have spent a good portion of our lives working in the service industry and we would have much rather been told the truth (we don't have tzatziki here; not an option) then been provided something else that clearly wasn't tzatziki. The apps we ordered (hummus and baba ghanoush) weren't great. The pomegranate mules were amazing though. Place was packed on a Friday night. Like any other busy bar/restaurant, it will take some time to get the check during peak hours. Some perks, some dishes were great - not the most authentic experience but still enjoyable. Slightly concerned about the lack of social distancing here but that's more so on the patrons and not the staff or restaurant owner. I've had some fond memories here pre-covid and think it's a great option for a date on a night that isn't very busy. read more

Made a reservation, got to the restaurant, was seated, and nobody came to the table for over 35 minutes. Eventually, we just got up and left. And when we informed the hostess of this, her reaction was "Sorry about that. Have a good night." Unreal. I will absolutely never go back and will tell anyone and everyone I know to avoid this place. Service was good, could see the personal interest being taken by the owners of the business -- this could be a factor... We ordered chicken in hummus, Baba Ghanoush and bird's nest... Bird's nest was the best of the lot... Juicy chicken pieces indeed... For main course, I had a Kafta which was also good but the rice was a little hard... Quantity of food is sufficient for one person though we shared given that we had taken appetizers as well... Place has live music, people sitting around the bar and smoking Hookah - this is not your Saturday ... Belly dance was not there which was a bummer!! They charged us 20% for gratuity on the bill, the server also said that the bill can't be split by more than 8 due to technical challenges in the system!! read more

We stopped by Opa for dinner tonight, while staying in Providence for just one day. The food was absolutely amazing, and the service was even better. It is a beautiful place with romantic atmosphere. We were warmly greeted upon arriving, promptly seated. They bring you Lebanese flat bread and oil/vinegar dip to start the meal. The dinner was generous portions. I really tried to like this place but I feel like it's really more your cup of tea if you are Lebanese. It definitely is well loved by its frequent attendees. They make a lot of effort to cater to their people with Sunday night live music with a band and tables get all booked up and reserved rain or shine. Kudos for that effort. I wasn't too impressed with the food honestly. We ordered the bolognese pasta and mixed grill plate. I really disliked the rice and it's cinnamon flavor, quite dry. Very disappointed with the unprofessionalism of this establishment. We traveled from Boston to come here and enjoy a nice Lebanese dinner as a family. We were led to a table and given menus and that is where the service went down hill. The restaurant was not busy or packed at all for us to be have left unattended to for the amount of time that we were. We sat for over 10 minutes while a couple that arrived after us were sat, attended to, and given drinks. We felt highly discriminated against as were the only black people in the restaurant at the time. When we spoke to our supposed waiter "Eli" about his unprofessionalism he was very rude and unapologetic for his behavior. I made reservation for dinner with my girlfriend. Both of our orders of lobster ravioli wer undercooked. We sent it back, and both orders came back still undercooked. We ate it because we were starving by this point. Our hookah was hitting extremely harsh. They fixed the coals a few times but it was still to harsh. If you could give a zero-star rating, that's what I would give Opa. I went to Opa on a Friday and ordered a Stoli blueberry and soda cocktail. It was my first drink of the night, and because that is my only drink of choice, I know exactly what it takes like, no matter how strong or weak the drink. I tasted my drink and immediately realized that it wasn't Stoli brand vodka, and politely checked with the bartender that it was the drink she had made. With a bad attitude and a nasty look, she told me it was definitely Stoli. Having worked in the service industry, I know there are establishments that empty top-shelf bottles of liquor and refill them with cheaper brands to make more money. I had a feeling this is what Opa was doing, so I figured I'd ask and they'd correct me if I was wrong. I asked to speak to the manager and I confronted him about it. I recently worked with Opa to cater my engagement party. I cannot say how happy I was with the entire experience. I can truly say one of the highlights of my entire party was the food. We had an arrangement of salads, rice, pasta, a carving station with several different meats, and an entire fish, plus many more platters. It felt like our home turned into a five star restaurant. My guests talked about the food and staff for days after the party ended. The owner and his entire staff were there before my guests arrived and even stayed to clean up at the end. They treated ever guest with respect and made sure everyone was satisfied with the food and drinks. They were very attentive, always making sure the myself and my fiancé had enough to eat and drink. I would honestly recommend Opa to anyone looking for amazing food and a respectful staff. read more

federal hill can be iffy at times. I walked into several places and was informed of their 2 hour waits despite 3 or 4 open tables....and on down the road we go.... Ended up at opa...the decor is pretty drab and looks fairly depressing but I was impressed with the overall experience. food was great...I went with the mini meatballs and spaghetti....meatballs were fully cooked and the sauce they used on the pasta was flavorful. My girlfriend got some chicken over rice thingy and it was tasty from the few bites I stole from her dinner was under $50...plus points for that downside? the bathroom is a single unisex and I didn't want to feel guilty about leaving the seat up...wish they had two bathrooms to avoid this horrible depleting process of lowering the seat to its resting place. good experience for the money and no wait....5 stars for federal hill read more

This is one of those tough calls when reviewing the restaurant. They were some service difficulties, but during this pandemic I have generally laid off of being critical of service problems. It was clear they were a bit short staffed. The food was good, not great. The calamari was rubbery, the beef Shawarma tasted a bit like the steak in a steak sub, the chicken Shawarma was excellent. The dessert cheesecake was not very sweet which was very much to my liking. The hookah was an enjoyable addition but as with everything at opah was over priced at $65. For two entrées one appetizer and a couple of cocktails with tip and hookah we got very close to $300. It really wasn't a $300 meal. But it most assuredly wasn't bad. read more

WOW - best hummus we've ever had! Recently on the 17th Annual Federal Hill Stroll, Opa had several dishes for sampling, but the Hummus, we both agreed, was the best we had ever had!! Stopped by Opa with a friend who has been saying I needed to go there with her for a long while. There were a variety of Mediterranean dishes on the menu that looked like they were worth trying, but since my visit to Greece nearly 30 years ago, I've been on an endless search for souvlaki like they sell on the streets of Athens - so I went with that for my entree. We started off with hummus as our appetizer. It was creamy delicious and a great start for our meal. The souvlaki was served with a side of saffron rice and a small Greek salad. The salad was lightly dressed with olive oil and vinegar and topped with feta. It was very refreshing and fresh and I would have liked a whole bunch more. The rice was passable but not fantastic. The souvlaki was a bit dry but the flavors were okay. My search for what I had in Greece continues. While the menu did have a very nice variety, the pricing seemed just a bit spendy for what seems to arrive at the table. The service was friendly and helpful and we were waited on by a gentleman who appeared at least, to be "in charge" at the time. I'm not sure if it was the owner, manager or just someone who is a true service professional - sadly a rare thing in today's world. My only nit picky issue was with the bus boy, drink server, secondary server. It may be my age or upbringing - but when you refill my glass or bring my plate and I say "thank you," the proper response is not "no problem." Try "you're welcome." I'd like to give this place a try when the dancer is on the clock although loud electronic music would rub me the wrong way at dinner and I cannot tell from the other reviews if those are simultaneous happenings. read more

The hummus is very good, but I didn't eat most of the Mediterranean Pasta that I got, it didn't have much flavor. I'm all about garlic and olive oil, but I could have made it better in my own kitchen. Maybe I'm just not into Mediterranean food. As for the people who run the place... I used to live upstairs and they would start blasting music around 1am until 3 and 4am. On weeknights. So if you're drinking at 4am on a weeknight, this is probably the place to do it. They also used to put a table in front of my front door EVERY day, so I'd come home from work and have to kick a table out of the way, OR kick some nice couple out of the way just to get in. Not fun when you have groceries or laundry in hand. If you're the person who's table is infront of the door to the apartments upstairs, just watch out, you might have to move a few times during your meal. read more

I read so many different reviews and many where positive, I decided to give opa a try. My husband and I made reservations on a Saturday for 7:30pm. When we arrived the hostess greeted us by saying " so we have a big party coming in tonight so you would have to get out by 9" appalled by this statement I was speechless. I sat down and was so irritated by her comment. How can you tell a customer to be out by a certain time because of a big party and why wasn't I told this on the phone when I made reservations. So we decided to go to Opa on Atwells Avenue in Providence because my best friend wanted to try something new it went there with my best friend even though the Ambiance was nice, service needed work it took us a long time to get off food my friends food was burnt we had to send it back and get another one. My food was very very good but the restaurant was 80% empty so we couldn't figure out why it was taking so long to get out food because they were not super busy. The drinks was small and kind of overpriced not that much alcohol in them at all. And basic food like shrimp alfredo with vegetables was $26 and you can get something like that at Chelo's for 12 bucks 13 bucks so I felt that the food was good but wasn't worth the money I was spending. read more
