I didn't think much of this place when I walked up because it looks like a place that you drop into for a quick lunch or breakfast sandwich to go. We sat outside and were immediately acknowledged and given menus and crayons for our kid. The waiter came back and took our orders. We had the Challah French Toast, Cesar Salad with blackend Chicken, and the All American Breakfast. I thought I was in the mood for French Toast until I had a bite of the All American! The Brioche bread was toasted and buttered on both sides ( so tasty ), the grits didn't look like there was cheese in it, but it did taste very creamy and buttery. They were great, but didn't give enough. They didn't fill up that little tiny cup it was in, the bacon was regular like any other bacon and the eggs were normal like any other eggs. All together it was a great tasting breakfast. The Challah French toast was good, but not as good as the All American Breakfast. It came with fresh fruit, cripsy bits of corn flakes, some cream in the middle of the French Toast, almond slivers , and a sprinkle of powdered sugar. It had a nice taste. The corn flakes and almond slivers gave it a kick. But in my opinion the All American was so much better. My guest had the Cesar Salad and said it was creamy and the chicken was was moist and juicy. The portion size was ample and he was extremely happy with his dish! We will be back. read more

My husband and I went there for lunch. Excellent service. Attentive wait staff and host/hostess but not overly so. Cobb lettuce wraps/appetizer was so good! It's an appetizer but I got it as main course. Plenty for me to eat and no carbs. Open Road burger for my husband. Really surprised how mediocre this food is. My wife and I travel all over the country. The wings are great nice and meaty. That's it. Broccolini, soggy and drenched in oil. Sweet potato fries, soggy. Bland salmon Caesar with a small container of romaine lettuce, a thimble of Parmesan and a bland salmon filet about 4 oz. Total takeout order for that and 8 wings. 50 ish bucks. We've found the smaller hole in the wall restaurants MUCH better. read more

I went here with my boyfriend last Saturday 9/26 at 2pm. There weren't too many other diners, most chose to sit outside. We sat inside where there was only one other party seated, so obviously there was no wait! The inside was decorated pretty cool. I like how the whole front side opens up to the outside. Great for summer/early fall! As for the food, the free popcorn app they give you when you're seated is so good! I know it's just popcorn, but it's a nice touch if you're a popcorn lover like me. For my entree, I ordered the roadhouse chicken salad. I give that 5 stars! Very yummy and they didn't slack on the protein! My boyfriend got the French onion burger, which he devoured in less than 10 minutes lol. Needless to say he loved it and thought it was great. Only giving it 4/5 stars because the restaurant was just kinda dead and the vibe was quiet. I personally like brunching in a more lively environment. The staff was really friendly and helpful, they were responsive to our feedback and recommended some great options. My fiance visited right around the time of COVID-19 ramping when you could still eat in restaurants. Crazy. Remember those times... It was a little difficult finding the place after our RideShare driver just dropped us at a random corner because his app said to... But, after a brief excursion we were able to locate Open Road. So, it was already an odd feeling inside. But, some of the employees just didn't seem excited to be there - unless that's normal. The pre-meal popcorn is so dang good.. addicting almost. We went to this place on a Sunday noon. The weather was nice and we saw this place opened up in Rosslyn. The reviews were good so we figured to give it a try. The outdoor sitting was really nice and it was in the shadows. The waitress attended to us in a timely manner. We ordered a cappuccino and a latte. Both were very good and we were really happy with the quality of the coffee. For the food we ordered Jambalaya and Salad with steak. Initially, they brought the wrong item and gave us steak and frites but after we mentioned it to them they apologized and changed the item. Jambalaya was good even though I think maybe there were some alcohol left possibly from the deglazing the pan but overall the chicken and shrimp were good. It was slightly spicy which I didn't mind. The salad was overall good. In general I would recommend this place for an outdoor group setting to hangout, get drink and have some American food. read more

What a relaxing restaurant to spend some an evening with friends. I enjoyed a lovely meal with friends from Australia. They appreciated the Peruvian Chicken dish as well as the Nacho platter with some chicken added to it. The Cobb Lettuce Wrap that I ordered was refreshing and crispy good. Y'all, the reviews that state that the Burgers are the BEAST ain't NEVA LIED!!!!! YES MA'AM. The Open Road Burger was medium well thick and juicy OMG I did add mustard and dill pickles and that just elevated, I can't tell you how my stomach was poked out and me smiling after I had engulfed that huge burger need I say I was a fat happy camper!!! in burger bliss. The fries were good to. Its a Yes, Yes for me. I also ordered the Bread Pudding because it was not featured on the Merrifield's menu. It was warm and soft and delish, just another homerun. I ordered the small nachos, that thing was HUGE, I could not touch it until day two I was stuffed from the burger. It was okay. My take aways, having ordered from the Merrifield and Rosslyn locations is that Rosslyn, VA's Open Road Burger is juicy, full of flavor and will put you in a satisfied food coma, the Flash Fried Calamari are simply delish! and that Bread pudding is the Bomb Biggity! I had a fabulous experience at Open Road the other night! I arrived a bit early and before the rest of my party, so I snagged a seat at the bar while I waited for the table to be ready. The bartender recommended I try the Vodka Mojito and it did not disappoint! It was refreshing and the perfect libation to start the weekend. Once the rest of my party arrived, we were promptly seated. The restaurant was lively and the mood of the staff was upbeat. I always appreciate this since it helps set the tone for the experience. The small plates menu has so many great options, so we had to try a bunch! We opted for the flash fried calamari, Mac and cheese, Brussels and blue, and the bruschetta. Everything was absolutely fabulous with the perfect balance of flavors. For my entree, I had the crispy chicken Cobb - this was a healthy portion with the right amount of each ingredient. The rest of my party enjoyed the burgers, which looked mouth watering! I will be trying the French onion burger upon my return. To compliment my salad, I sipped on the Substance Cab. Love the option for 6 or 9 oz pour. From the food, to the ambiance, and service at both the table and the bar, everything was exceptional. I think there's a little confusion with the fact that Salt and Open Road are essentially housed in the same location (Open Road is the bar upstairs with booths near the metro plaza), but my friends and I came in on a Saturday just before the dinner rush. We didn't have a reservation so the host sat us in the bar area but essentially told us we had 40 minutes, which honestly didn't leave us the best impression so far. However, once we got seated our waitress was super kind and the service was amazing. My friends ordered a porter and an old fashioned and really enjoyed their drinks, but the star of Open Road is really the wagyu burger (which I think we mistakenly ordered off the salt menu instead). This is not a burger for the faint hearted, my friends - my friend and I spent literally a minute contemplating how to ingest the first bite. Brioche (I'm guessing?) bun, savory and SALT-y mushrooms on the bottom that complement the rich patty, and crispy fried onions on top. It was so good. My friend and I split the caesar side salad which is definitely big enough for 2 people, and my other friend got the french fries, which were SO GOOD. Price wise the wagyu burger will set you back $21, but the burger's honestly not going to leave you any space in that stomach. overall I found the service great and the food top notch, but the experience with the host at the beginning left a bad taste in my mouth and we'll just be making reservations to avoid this awkward discussion in the future. read more

Open Road is a great addition - the HH prices are great on beers, wines, and apps! I really enjoy their apps; the brussels and blues, the nachos, and chicken bites are all delicious. If I'm in Rosslyn and looking for an after work spot, I'd definitely stop by for a drink and a bite! read more
