Kens a good dude and I've followed him from another sushi restaurant in Alhambra to his own place here in Arcadia. He has some good sushi and I enjoy his charisma he has and the quality of fish he deploys. He has some days where he slices up a whole tuna to showcase his workmanship. His place is good for bar seating as well as large group get togethers. I personally like all the Toros I can stuff down my throat. The premium chirashi bowl is a good item to get if you like variety and on a budget. The most entertainment is sitting at the bar and conversing with Ken and his team of sushi chefs. I used to come here at least 3-4 a month because their prices are reasonable. I have been coming here for years until my family and I got food poisoning from eating their chirashi bowl. It was the worst for my mom because she had diarrhea and vomit throughout the night. I'm just really disappointed at this place. If you know your fish went bad and the fact that you still serve it to your customers trying make a few bucks off them is totally unacceptable and unethical. Had an incredible dining experience here! The sashimi was super fresh and absolutely top-notch, with the sweet ebi being my favorite. I also tried beef tongue for the first time. First of all the place kind of smells, the soya sauce is actually sweet, they use Sriracha for as a hot sauce, wtf?! the hand-roll is made of string of fishes and I am disgusting rice. First of all, I would like to say that this has been one of our go to spots for one of the best sushi in town. Excellent food, and it never misses a beat. However, just the other day we had ordered for takeout. The issue began when, we ordered a spicy salmon roll and a Negi toro roll and one salmon bowl. The lady on the phone had a hard time understanding what I was saying, quite simply, and she did not repeat back my order. She simply just acknowledged the order and gave me a timeframe to pick up. Upon arriving at the store I said I was there for pick up and they did not clarify or repeat back what I had ordered and simply just gave me the check to pay for and the bag. At the time of purchase, they did not hand me an itemized receipt at first. They just gave me the total amount to pay for and I did. I briefly just looked into the bag and saw that there were two small trays, and a larger tray that fit the general description of what I ordered. In order to not hold of the line, I quickly left. By the time I came home, it became clear that when I took out the food that one of the rolls ended up being a veggie roll and not a Negi roll. they had confused my order for the Neji roll for a veggie roll. Obviously that is not what I wanted and it was quite disheartening to see the change for a delicious sushi roll for an expensive order of rice and salad . I immediately called back and told him what had happened and one gentleman had said that they would just give me a new roll if I just came in another day and I agreed. Fast-forward the day after I ordered more food on the phone and told them the situation and they said it was fine. Upon arrival, the same woman who had taken my order the day before, had basically refused the order request citing that the error was not an actual error. She was saying that, she knew what she heard and I had paid for a vegetarian role. This much is true. I did pay for it and it was not an incorrect price, but the fact was that she had misheard and did not do her due diligence and repeating back the order correctly. Overall, the staff does not repeat back the order and stuff like this can happen. Because of this, they have now lost a dedicated customer and we no longer plan to return unless the situation can be rectified. read more

A really solid choice for sushi in the area. As others have mentioned, lunch is definitely the better option price-wise. I got the deluxe chirashi for $30 at lunch which is cheaper than the $40 dinner price tag (although I'm not sure if they give you more at dinner). Still came with uni for example, so I think it's a great deal, plus they give you more than enough to fill you up. I ended up with a lot of leftover rice and was quite satisfied with the quality. Only bad thing is parking here. The lot is shared with a bunch of other stores / tea shops and is nowhere near enough to handle all the people that come here. We ordered several a la carte sashimi, including salmon, yellowtail, mackerel, Aji, etc. it was just ok, cut size was above average on some fish for the price, but the quality and freshness was not great. I would rate it just slightly above buffet-grade. Kumamoto oysters were good. Halibut on house oil and spicy tuna on crispy rice were good, but nothing outstanding. Seating was comfortable for larger parties. The waiters were pleasant, taking my order, but rarely came back around to check-up on anything unless I waved for them to come by for every little thing. Automatic options to check off 18%, 20% or 25% tip on the final check. I felt obligated to choose one of the tip options, which I don't mind but the service could've been more proactive. Even I tipped very well, there were no thank you come again or any words. The way one can tell whether an Asian restaurant knows how to "restaurant" is by the way it serves its rice and hot tea. It's what I call the "Las Vegas Standard" in the luxury hotels. This Opus restaurant's rice is hard and cold and of very low quality, whereas the standard should be soft and warm and fluffy. I came here for a casual dinner with my mom and my best friend's mom. My mom got the terriyaki salmon with sashimi on the side, my friend's mom got the unagi don with sashimi on the side, and I got the salmon ikura don. All looked amazing and fresh! I definitely really enjoyed my meal because it was sooo fresh, none of the stinky fish smelling sushi. This place is so worth checking out and you definitely aren't breaking bank for what you're getting. I definitely want to come back for their omakase because I heard that was amazing. My boyfriend and I are huge sushi fans, and we definitely have several "go-to" sushi restaurants. This time however, we were interested in trying a new place. Thanks to Yelp, we found Opus! After looking up the location, I realized that I pass by Opus almost on a weekly basis but never really paid much attention to it (I honestly have been missing out all my life). To start off, be forewarned that the parking lot is kind of small. Luckily we were able to catch someone leaving right when we pulled in. The restaurant itself is clean and pretty spacious. Most importantly, the food is good! Yes, it's pricier than your average sushi place but that's because of the high quality of fish you get. My boyfriend and I definitely over ordered and spent much more than we expected, but we really enjoyed our food! We especially loved the sashimi, grilled squid, and bacon wrapped asparagus skewers. To be honest though, we didn't enjoy our cut rolls as much. It was a little mushy in our opinion, and we much preferred the sashimi. Other than that, the food was great! All in all, we very much enjoyed our dinner at Opus. We will return again (just not too often as it can get pricey). Lastly, shout out to Torres for taking care of us!
