I deliberately didn't read my previous review before coming back here for a second time. I wanted it to be totally objective. Upon entering we were properly greeted and seated. I was so impressed with the menu. This time I looked at it carefully and saw a wonderful assortment of small plates and ramen. Oramen really does do Japanese tapas. The Tan Tan Ramen was delicious, quite spicy, and very filling (but I ate the entire bowl!). My friend had the Yakisoba and wow it looked and smelled amazing. Very generous portion too. We started off with shishito peppers -- perfect -- and squid gyoza which was also excellent but it should have been served with dipping sauce, because they were dry. Once requested and delivered, the squid gyoza was wonderful with the ponzu-like dumpling sauce. So, I upped my opinion of Oramen. I shall return! read more

My friend and I came here for dinner on a Wednesday night and were seated within 10 minutes. The space has a bar in the front with some tables and a larger space in the back with more tables. We ordered the shoyu ramen and the spicy vegetable ramen. The flavor of both of them was excellent. The spicy vegetable ramen has very good spice (don't get it if you are not good with spice). The pork in the shoyu ramen was excellent and melt in my mouth. The noodles were chewy and delicious. The only reason I am giving 2 stars is because the food I ate proceeded to give me bad food poisoning. My friend was fine after having the spicy vegetable ramen. I am sure it was my dinner that made me sick since my other meal that day was a catered lunch that was shared with others at work and everyone else at work was fine. The tempura cauliflower was delicious which is so crazy for me to say because I usually don't like cauliflower. The takoyaki was DELICIOUS. The vegetable gyoza and truffle fries were also very good. The fries come with this sauce that I could eat with a spoon. I had the spicy miso ramen as my entree and also got the nigori sake. So good and crunchy and unique. The shrimp wontons were flavorful and spicy, but I wouldn't order them again. Also enjoyed the tonkatsu ramen which goes down smoothly, while the short rib ramen was much too salty, though the broth was delicious. This was a great find! We were at the Rubin and decided to grab some lunch when we were finished at the museum (also amazing, btw). We walked past and noticed their lunch specials - $15ish for a ramen combo or a 3-roll lunch. Both of these are amazing specials and if you're hungry, significant savings off the a la carte prices. This being said, we weren't hungry enough to tackle the specials. I had a shrimp tempura roll and the cucumber salad. Both were yummy. The cucumbers were cut in a way to maximize the marinade's contact with the cucumber itself and really punch up the flavor. The roll was good - well wrapped, fresh ingredients. TBH, shrimp tempura rolls are hard to mess up, but I love them so much. My husband had the shortrib ramen. It was SO good. Noodles were perfectly chewy. The meat was spoon tender. And the broth. Wow. The pages go on and on for this ramen joint. A little fancier and pricier than some others. Not quite a steal you would find on St. Marks and probably would find tastier options but we were both satisfied with our $15-20 meals. He went with a spicy chicken ramen and since I don't really love ramen that much because it makes me feel incredibly bloated, I went with the yakisoba pan-fried noodles with I believe pork, shrimp, brussels sprouts, cabbage, and bonito flakes. After I reassured my new little friend that my dish wasn't moving from the fish flakes, we dove in. The portion size was pretty huge and I could easily have saved the other half for another day but I went in. Lots of little apps are on the menu as well like pork buns but for $4 ($6 if its shortrib) a pop that's a bit insane. They also have a long list of sake and japanese beers. If you're expecting traditional then you'll be disappointed like me. The name should've been spicy noodle. A far cry from what's pictured in their menu. Okonomiyaki. It's a hard dish to get right. It was so cold today, about 25 F! It was the perfect day for a hot bowl of ramen! I met up with my husband near his work and decided to have ramen for lunch. We arrived a little bit before 12 PM and the place wasn't filled with people yet. After placing the order, the food came out very quickly! The wait staff members were very nice, especially one of them said "wait! Don't take pictures yet!" then he put down the gyoza and said, "now it's time!" We shared a pork bun! It was not bad but I did wish the pork belly was more tender. I got pork gyoza set with tonkotsu ramen. Gyoza skin was paper thin and the filling was very tasty. The noodle was straight noodle, which was very soft. Tonkotsu ramen broth was thick and flavorful! I want to show you some of the best ramen I've ever had from Oramen in the Chelsea district. I got a classic Shoyu ramen (my favorite!) paired with a Lychee martini. The broth was delicious and the pork was cooked perfectly, but the best part about this place was the service. When I was stuck between two drinks, the waitress was kind enough to offer her expertise which led to me ordering the perfectly sweet cocktail pictured above. We started off with some super cute canned sake - I got the glass panda sake container, which was super cute and I took it home with me. The sake was surprisingly very good as well and I usually don't even like the taste. It was dry and refreshing. We also shared the spicy tuna tacos which was absolutely amazing. It had a decent crunch from the taco shell and the seafood filling had great flavor and a soft, chewy texture that melted in your mouth. For my main, I got the tan tan men, which had a very flavorful and rich broth with ground pork pieces. Overall, it was good but our only complaint was that the broth was too salty - thus giving it 4 stars altogether. The gyoza was flavorful though ($7). We both had a yuzu drink (half and half - peach tea with lemonade) which was so good!! It complemented extremely well with the ramen since it was a bit saltier. This is an awesome lunch spot. A friend and I came here around 1PM and it was very busy, however, seats turn around at a good pace. Got our menu, order and food in fast. They have a special lunch set menu which is an entree and half sized appetizer (in terms of size). I ordered the Gyoza set with Shoyu ramen and my friend got the Tan Tan Men with the fried chicken. We both enjoyed our ramen tremendously and the side dishes with it were superb. Gyoza - on the smaller side but full of meat. Nicely pan seared and well seasoned. Comes in three pieces. Fried chicken - Freshly fried (nothing reheated here), nicely seasoned and good chunk of meat! Shoyu ramen - Good portion, comes with an egg, piece of bok choy, heap of noodles, two pieces of non fatty pork chashu and topped with scallions. Delicious all around! It's a small, intimate spot. We came in hungry, my beau was in the mood for ramen and I was in the mood for sushi. Luckily, I found this spot because they had the best of both. We were seated pretty quickly and ordered right away. We had the shrimp and chicken dumplings, Short Rib Ramen, Dynamite sushi roll, and the salmon avocado roll. Everything was prepared quickly. My only thing was that the dumplings came out after the ramen and we wanted the dumplings as an appetizer. The dumplings also came out a little burnt but still very tasty, especially with the sauce it came with. The ramen was one of the best ramens I've had in my life. It was extravagant, the noodles were soft, the egg was perfect, the vegetables still had a little crunch to them, honestly just delicious. The dynamite shrimp was also very good, the fish was fresh and the salmon had a nice color to it. You only get 6 pieces in the roll but the roll is pretty big. It's also safe to say I wish I ordered the ramen. I'm still dreaming about it. Definitely my new go to spot for ramen. read more

The baby octopus snack was very delicious. Amazed at how they were able to preserve the flavor of the octopus and other items that accompanied it after frying. The Shoyu ramen I ate there was hands down the best ramen I'd ever had. The flavors were incredible! The pork was just right, and the noodles were made to perfection. My dining partner got the spicy chicken ramen, which was very good as well. Even though we didn't plan to do so, we decided to go ahead and order the mochi dessert. I'm never a fan of fruit-flavored desserts, but the mango flavored mochi piece won my over. For sure, plan to come back to this place again. read more

Surprised by this place! I was looking for a ramen shop near SoHo that I hadn't been to before. This was a pleasant surprise! The service here is decent -- at first very quick and attentive. Toward the end of the night, we had a hard time getting the server's attention. He had forgotten to put in our order of truffle fries, and it came AFTER both our pork bun appetizer and ramen had already come out. Also, be forewarned -- the truffle fries portion is TINY. Omg, the put a little plate of it on top of a bowl to make it appear large... but it's literally only one serving of fries (like if you got a side of fries with a burger) for $8!!! Expensive!!! The ramen was very tasty! Surprisingly, my favorite was the tonkatsu. The chashu was perfect! And the broth is very flavorful -- this was the surprise as I usually prefer spicy miso over tonkatsu broth. This is my favorite tonkatsu broth so far in the city :) The spicy miso was a bit disappointing. It was way too spicy for me and burned my lips :( I couldn't get my flavor as my palate was burned from the spice. I think it would have been an okay dish otherwise as the components individually were quite nice. The pork buns were also very good. I liked the two complementary sauces in this and the chashu again was quite perfect. All-in-all, I would come back for the pork bun and tonkatsu ramen. Solid spot! read more
