Family owned business. They're located inside the Wilshire Galleria next to the food court. They were very friendly and nice. They provide the utmost service. The place was not very spacious but it was intimate. I've constantly been there for their blended drinks, which are so good and refreshing, so when I tried their food for the first time, I just loved the place even more! I tried the chicken pesto sandwich. It was very salivating. All ingredients were fresh and cooked well. Their specialty dressing is the homemade pesto dressing and it's a must try. I was looking for a breakfast place when the line at I-HOP was so long I decided it wasn't worth waiting to use my free birthday meal coupon. I found Orange Tree Cafe with a Yelp search, and I would have never found it otherwise; it's rather hidden, up on the second floor of a mall that doesn't seem to get too much traffic, at least not in the morning. For breakfast, the food was simple and solid: eggs, toast, bacon, and basic breakfast sandwiches, well cooked and for decent prices. I suspect the deals are better (and the food more exciting?) for lunch sandwiches; otherwise, I'm not sure why so many people rave about this. My guy and I each ordered a breakfast special that was advertised on a chalkboard, and came with coffee. One reason we did that is so we would what our meals cost: the breakfast menu doesn't include any prices! Sure, you can ask, but it's kind of frustrating to have to do so. I had the day off from work and decided to go see my girlfriend for lunch, so we drove around the vicinity of her job. She suggested we stop by the Orange Tree Cafe as some of her Co-workers recommended it, and the Yelp reviews looked good (4-5 stars). We entered, and ordered our meals after looking at the menu behind the counter. I ordered a Turkey Panini, and my girlfriend decided to go with a Cobb Salad. To drink I had ordered a Pineapple-banana smoothie and then we took our seats. The guy behind the counter did give me a heads up that there was a price increase as the menu items were changing. Okay, no problem. The place looked pretty quiet as there were only 3 other customers inside, and 2 were about to leave and another gentleman had a drink. So far so good. Shortly after my smoothie had arrived, and after about 5 minutes later a lady behind the counter asked me if I wanted a salad to go with my sandwich which I had agreed. About another 5 minutes had passed before my plate had arrived. I decided to be a gentleman and wait for my girlfriend's salad to arrive. A few minutes had passed and nothing. The other customers had left an still no Salad. We asked what was taking so long, and the reply was that it was being made right now. After about 20 minutes one of servers brought in a piece of Toast. Still more time had passed and still no salad. My girlfriend's lunch break is only an hour long, and it's already been more than a half hour. We asked what was taking so long every so often, and all they said was that it was being made. After almost 45 minutes we asked if we could just get it to go. Shortly after the salad was finally boxed and I asked for a to go box for my sandwich. A lady felt bad and gave us a complimentary hibiscus organic tea drink from their new menu. She's is going to be more forgiving, and try to give them a 2nd chance but unfortunately I don't see myself coming back here again. read more

Came here while waiting for a table at EMC. It's a cute little shop :) I ordered the Belgian waffle with strawberries and bananas and it was so delicious! I had to take it to go but the waffle was light and fluffy. It also tastes good with the honey they give you on the side. The waffles are made to order so it tasted really fresh. Orange Tree Cafe is inside the second floor another random Korean plaza in the heart of K-Town. I never knew there were so many plaza that I get them all confused, being a non-Korean person and such. The good thing, parking wasn't a big issue, since the plaza has their own separate lot, for those who are there for under a half hour, or those who want to stay longer. Before I headed into Orange Tree, I wanted to see if there was anything else I wanted to try or something that may have diverted my attention. Alas, Orange Tree Cafe won my stomach. (And no, I'm not saying this out of spite, just that I wanted something I can eat on the drive home and a sandwich is the option that ran through my head.) There was only two people in the small cafe when I went in at around 6 PM, and the owner seemed kind of surprised that someone would come in at this time of the day. Hey, can't someone just want a sandwich for dinner? With recommendations from Yelp, I went with the Chicken Pesto Panini and a side salad. Panini wasn't scolding hot, just the right temperature for it to be eaten right away. I found out later why there wasn't much pesto in my panini as I ate my side salad; the pesto was on the side, so you can add it in yourself or use it as dipping. Wow! This place is awesome. So homie and Nancy the owner is a lovely woman. Nothing fancy but clean and the coffee and their small menu is so good! The prices of their salad run for $8.50 and paini and other sandwiches for $7.50. Belgian waffles $6. I think they are all fair prices. The Chicken Pesto Panini is excellent. I got mine with a side salad (I usually dislike the type of lettuce used) with their home made house dressing. The dressing is on the side; a green, basil-pesto-olive-oil dressing. I'm not big on dressings so I guess I'm not totally amazed. Con: My sandwich was cold. I get the tomato and lettuce should be cold. But it's a panini! It should be warm to the touch but it wasn't. I also felt very bloated after eating it. It doesn't seem oily though. SO yeah, almost went nuts trying to locate this place, then I saw a reviewer wrote that it was located on 2nd flr of City Center Mall, good looking out! But all the trouble was worth it, I had the Belgian waffle with bananas/ strawberries, topped with whip cream, drizzles of chocolate sauce and sprinkled with slivers of almonds. It was big (the size of the plate), crispy on the outside, while warm and soft on the inside. Parking is downstairs in the garage, you can use valet but I opted to self-park. This cafe is a hidden gem in K-town. This is a very friendly mother-son operated cafe with great customer service. I don't get to go often as I'd like (it's far from me) but they always remember my name when I walk in. I'm kind of a health nut and everything here feels healthy and tastes great. The paninis are excellent and the drinks are fresh. And the reviews about the homemade dressing is spot on, it's ridiculously good. The son working here seems to be more of a health nut (he's pretty ripped, ladies) than I am so I trust his drinks. There are many times when I'll just ask him to make me something healthy and he delivers. Even though I'd love to keep this place MY hidden gem, the owners of this cafe are too sweet and nice that I wouldn't mind if it got bogged down with customers finding out about the place.
