I've eaten at the old shack on Peck Road and Ramona Blvd before they moved to this new location. The first time I tried eating here the chili was warm, thick and crusty. I just couldn't eat it. They gave me another burger the same way and I refused to eat it. I just asked for one without chili and it still wasn't very good. Truly disappointing. I tried going back two more times, about a few months apart. The food was the same as the first time. I'm never going back to this Tommy's. Now I drive to Monrovia for a much fresher meal, which isn't as often as I would like since it's farther away from me. read more

Amazing burger, but I really have to mention the customer service.. I'd never been to any Tommy's before, but I was a bit out of my way, and randomly decided to try it out. I was greeted by a girl behind the counter, named Lidia, who was one of the best representatives that any company could ever ask for. I tried to go through the drive through at 10:40 because the hours were to 11:00 on Yelp. When I pulled up to the drive through window I looked in, and one of the workers pointed to the "drive through hours" on the window which said they close at 10. Ok, I know this a California beacon for fast food. However, I was far from impressed. The burger: dry, chewy, flavorless. The chili that everyone raves about and you have seen on the food network: YUCK! It was flavorless. It reminded me of a flavorless brown gravy-like substance. Not meaty at all. Almost like mole with much less flavor. The portions are big and prices in-line with fast food. Honestly, I don't see what all the hub bub is about. I come drive thru when I come here. They are pretty fast during the lunch rush and even late at night. No matter when I come I always have to make sure I get the chili cheese fries a chili burger and some yellow chiles. They always make sure to top off the container with the French fries and a huge layer of chili which there are no complaints here. There is always parking even though it's right off the freeway. Simply it's juicy, it's meaty and it's soooo tasty! Now that is then smotherd in very nice'n hearty meat-filled chili that has it's own unique flavor that goes back to the original Tommy's. Of course you add some cheese to that bad boy and bingo. It's a good chili to cheese ratio that will be sure to leave you with some cheese paper for later. You know what I'm talking about. Lastly you got the chopped onions, mustard, and a MUST in my opinion, Pickles!!!!!! This is all placed between two above quality buns then eaten almost immediately. I've been coming to Tommy's since I was kid. I've had some good meals and I've had some not so good meals, but I still come here. I can still recall the first time I came to Tommy's and ate a Tommy chili cheeseburger, chili cheese fries and a Coke. The mustard, the pickles, the onions, and the thick tomato wedge combined with the cheese, patty and chili. It's utter junk food junkie bliss! I was about 8 and my dad took my brother and I for a treat. I've been hooked on their chili ever since. Well fast forward to now and I still enjoy Tommy's to this day. If you're going to tackle a meal at Tommy's, you better go hungry. Now, that being said, some of you may not like it, some my hate it, but that's OK. It doesn't make you any less of a person, but you are missing out on what proper junk food is all about. Best things on the menu are everything. The chili dog is good, the tamales are yummy, the breakfast they offer (until 11:00am which is dumb since they open at 9:00am, 2 freaking hours! Are you kidding me!) is good when you can get it. About my only complaint would be the fries and the burgers are sometimes not always hot and fresh. We got Tommy's on the way home from a long day at the beach for dinner. Needless to say, you get more than enough chili. the burgers, tamales and hot dogs are DRENCHED in Tommy's chili and it has a nice kick and spice to it, which is kinda refreshing, considering a lot of places make bland chili that has the same flavor. We got the works, I had the single cheeseburger with chili, tamale with chili and the Fiance got the hot dog with chili and chili cheese fries. Boy, this is not the kind of food for dieters! That's for sure! I thought I was going to have a heart attack afterwards! It's one of those guilty pleasure comfort foods! It's been ten years since I had a Tommy's chili cheeseburger with Chili and they haven't changed a bit. For some they don't like the chili taste then this probably isn't the best place to get a burger but if you like chili bring some napkins because it's sloppy time. The only bad thing was once I ordered at drive thru I was going to park and enjoy the nice evening with my dinner, but no parking once you go through the drive thru. I love their zucchini fries. Most of my stars go there, but I also think their DUI is pretty good. I always make everything to go since the inside looks a bit dirty most of the time. It feels kind of uncomfortable compared to Flames across the street, but location aside, food baits me well.
