Should've read these reviews before I called to schedule with these idiots! They scheduled me for next day with a window of 10am-12pm show up time. 12:30 comes around and I didn't a courtesy phone call or anything so I called to find out where my tech was. Orkin informs me that they emailed me that the appointment wasn't available!!! What!!!! I spoke to 2 managers that didn't seem to give a damn about me as a customer with urgent pest issues. Told me the next appointment was for 6 days out. The Hayward location is sloppy ran and this is why this orkin location has terrible reviews. read more

Orkin, an absolutely horrible experience. Everything went wrong. We purchased their service and paid for a start-up fee and on going maintenance. They first send us two guys, very polite but clueless, they were not adequately trained. They put half dozen traps. 6 days later and after 4 visits, 3 of which were no shows (they gave us a 2 hours window but nobody showed up and no warning). So we ended up waiting 6 hours for nothing. After 5 visits, the smell of a decaying animal was absolutely unbearable and prooved that they had caught one. They could not find it. Three days later and with another missed (no show) appointment they brought some deodorant bags to aliviate the smell. They could not remove the carcass because they could not locate it. We are so very very done with Orkin. read more

I had made an appointment to get rodent control work done between 12-2pm. This unprofessional agent Robin calls as if people are sitting on their hands and waiting for Orkin. Instead of requesting, tells me that she will come at 2p so it will be a 2-4p window. When I say I have another appointment, as if it was in a non English language she repeats the same thing. This is a terrible company and hope they get the least business than others. Whoever runs this company should find another job. read more

I found Orkin to be a waste of money, I signed up for 1 year contract for a rodent problem and I found my self doing all the work of emptying traps. Exactly what I was doing before calling Orkin. They tell you to call and they empty traps and be days before they could get to my house so I was forced to empty so wouldn't smell dead rodents in traps. Called to get more traps service rep shows up no traps wasn't on his call report, so got another appointment same rep shows up still not traps and now another appointment..... I have used Termnex before for for termites 1000 percent better service... live and learn... My advice if you have a rodent issue contact a local exterminator who can get to your house sooner.....and have traps.... read more

I had been using an exterminator called EcoShield to control bugs at my home. EcoShield apparently was acquired by Orkin, and Orkin got my credit card information from them. Orkin showed up twice. For what should have been the 3rd visit, no one showed up but I was billed $165 anyway. I phoned Orkin to let them know. The phone rep said she tried to send a technician twice, but again, no one showed up. So I fired Orkin in favor of a small local exterminator. I asked for my $165 back but it was never refunded to my credit card. Today I got an email alerting me to my next Orkin visit. I had to call them and remind them I had fired them months ago and they still owed me $165. Now they say it's "too late" to refund my money. Don't hire Orkin. They can't be trusted to show up or to refund your money for non-service. This was Orkin branch #438, which I believe is based in Livermore, CA. read more

Made an appointment and Anna, a Senior Inspector showed up for inspection day. The reason why I choose Orkin because of what was provided and the actions that took place while she inspected my property. She was very thorough with the Termite Inspection. She provided a very informative termite report which included pictures of the areas that are infected and non infected. She broke down our options of treatment and also financial options as well. A service appointment was made in less than a week for treatment which is such a relief because when you want a solution and want to get rid of the pest and in my case, Termites, you want to feel the urgency to remedy the problem. Service technician Kelli showed up and he was on time and did such a great job! He too, was informative and applied quality service! I am very pleased with my overall experience with Orkin and happy with the results. Thank you Orkin Team! read more

This low review is not about the tech that comes to the house, it's about their customer service and manager. First off the company never calls to notify you the tech is coming to the house. I have pets and a locked rear yard. If they don't notify me the yard is locked. I went on vacation and the tech called (that time) I told him to skip a month as I was not going to be there for several weeks. Tech said can't do that, he'll do the front and call when I home he'll come back for the yard, which he did. Week later a different tech shows up, no call. I told him skip me this month the other tech was here a week ago. I told him I'll call the company. Got nowhere with customer service, I was told I had to have the service, you can't skip a month. I told her with this lack of customer service I'll cancel if that force me this month. This morning door bell rings, open the door first thing the tech said was did the company notify me he was coming. Nope no call. I told him I'll cancel if they push it. He calls his manager, no skip per him. Well go do it and tell the manager to then cancel my account. Oh I also received a 60 day over due notice upon my arrival home from a 5 week vacation. I guess the office can't count days! I also signed a 6 month contract when I hired them. It was for every other month service. Guess what they continued service after the contact ended. Poor service. I had a service scheduled on August 10th. I took time off from work in the morning. I got a text on the day of the service that they have rescheduled my service. On the day of my rescheduled service, I had a 8-10am window so I took time off again. I waited till 9.30 then rang the branch and was told technician is on the way. Then the technician rang me and said he will be there in 10-15 minutes. No one showed up till 10 am so I rang the technician again. He said he will be there by 10.15. Again no one showed up till 10.30. I called the technician again and he said he will get there when he can. I called the branch and told them to cancel my account and was assured account has been cancelled and no payment is due. I got an invoice the next day saying I owe $146 for the service which never happened. I am sick of this company. They have no regard for their customers. Please dont use this company for your pest control needs. read more

This company is sloppy and unscrupulous. Stay away. We called Orkin because we suspected bed bugs in our house. The inspector arrived on time, and spent a lot of time in one bedroom, and only about one minute inspecting the second bedroom. He claimed that the second bedroom had bed bugs, and showed us a picture on his phone of the supposed 'bug.' He described the heat treatment to us as heating our house up to 230 degrees Fahrenheit. I realized soon after that the temp must be wrong - water boils at 212! Every other company states around 130 degrees. He couldn't even get the description right. Since Orkin was ready to charge us more than $5K for a heat treatment, we decided to get a second quote with a second inspection. The second inspector found zero bed bugs in the entire home, and even showed us the brown crumb in the exact location where the Orkin inspector had said there were bedbugs. It was a brown crumb, not even a bug. Since we still weren't sure, we called Scen-Tek to get a canine inspection to make absolutely sure that we did not have bed bugs. The dog found no bed begs. In sum, Orkin did a slap-dash inspection, didn't even stop to make sure that their "evidence" was indeed a bug, and was more than happy to try to charge us thousands for a treatment that we did not need. To top it all off, I am 8.5 months pregnant, and this inspector (Johnnie Peraza) felt fine looking me in the eye while I was on the verge of tears to tell me that we had a (false) infestation, and that we would have to do a lot of work and spend thousands in a rush treatment job before the baby arrived. Shame. Do not hire Orkin, and avoid this particular inspector if you do call them. read more

Friday: (3/29/19) Made an appointment because I came home to a new roomie and I lost my sh*t. Sadly there was no availability until the following Monday- I was desperate and was willing to pay the upfront charge at the time of service. Saturday morning (3/30): I call to cancel because my landlord says he'll take care if it. Rep claims she will contact that office, and I will not be charged because there will be no service. Monday Morning (4/1): Missed calls from a manager, and a tech because the tech cannot get into the building. Not only was my appointment not cancelled, but my card was charged $260. I called back to clear things up & there was "no manager available".. BUT, they claim they'll refund it.. *Update: A "manager" offered a discount & questioned why I was asking for a refund if there was no service, and claims he saw no charge so I sent a screenshot of bank statement. After going back & forth for nearly a week, speaking with different reps getting different stories, I got my money back today (4/9/19), about 8 days after the initial charge. read more

Bites, bites, bites!!! I am one of those people who does everything possible in order to avoid using chemicals. Unfortunately, I didn't have any other choice. I was being bitten alive at night, in bed and on my couch. I had the good fortune of coming home one day and saw the Orkin truck parked across the street from my house. It felt like my prayers had been answered. To top it off, there was this charming man named Julius Kabera who set up an appointment with me on the spot. Mystery of mystery, when he came back and thoroughly checked the house. No evidence of any creatures. My suspicion is that the mouse that died in our house, while I was out of town, was carrying mites or fleas. It took 2 treatments, 2 weeks apart by Julius to solve the problem. Thank you, Julius for your amazing service. I feel fortunate to have a savior like Julius. Be sure to ask for Julius Kabera if you have a pest problem. read more

I want to begin by stating that Orkin is the absolute worst!!! The representative who came by was a statesman. Johnny was his name and he was wonderful. He knew his business, was very prompt and totally businesslike. It was because of him that we decided on his company. He did a thorough inspection of our home and found that we had bedbugs in only one room. He explained how the creatures could migrate and that it would be best to treat the entire home for best results. He even gave us insightful tips on how to eliminate them. Then came the nightmare. The next time, two guys arrived and treated the house, or at least they said they did! We were told to stay away for about 4 hrs and to encase the mattresses with bedbug proof covers. But before that, my wife noticed 3 moving bugs on the supposedly treated mattress. We were told that the mattresses would be treated directly by the exterminators! No sooner than that very evening my wife tried to sleep and was attacked by several critters. She was unable to sleep due to the disruption and also noticed not 1, not 2, not 3, but 6 bedbugs that she personally had to kill! She also saw 3 bedbugs crawling on the headboard, which we were told was personally treated. We called the company the next day and were informed they would be back in a week. They came back but still no relief! We received a call from them after the 3rd week, STILL NO RELIEF, and they responded by setting up an appointment to send over a canine to do an inspection. They called on Oct.18th, set up an appointment for Mon. Oct.21, between 10am and Noon and Voila!- NO ONE SHOWED UP! NOT EVEN A FREAKING PHONE CALL! This is the most unprofessional, infuriating and backwards company that I have ever dealt with. We spent $2,750 for the indecency of being inconvenienced and ridiculed by these charlatans! If you have pests or insects, do yourself a favor and call Omega or Clark or Western or ANYBODY else but these characters. read more

In their office is a banner which they all signed saying "Auto-pay is the way they stay". TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT & CUSTOMER SERVICE MIXED WITH INCOMPETENCE, EMPTY PROMISES AND OVERPRICING Such a horrendous experience and it's not done yet. A property I manage had three units with bed bugs. Their rep, Pram, signed us up for a $4790. (let's just call if 5K) heat treatment. A week later I took a video of a live bedbug moving around. He wouldn't come out to look at it until four days after and THEN HE WOULDN'T BELIEVE THE VIDEO!! And he says he didn't find any bugs that's because they come out of one particular wall at night! He made us wait two more weeks before someone would come out to inspect again. He never told us that 90% of the time the heat treatment doesn't kill all of them and a liquid treatment needs to be done up to five times afterward (we're on liquid treatment #4 some seven weeks later). Because of Pram not believing that the video showed live bed bug (clearly it does) we were forced to wait and of course there are bites and sleepless nights and I'll spare you all the hellacious details. The heat treatment wasn't done properly in the first place because they didn't lift up the couch cushions where I had been sleeping to avoid the bedbugs. Not all the dresser drawers were opened up (they never told us we should open drawers). There is a serious lack of communication all around. They told us to leave all the clothes and rags there to be heat treated. I left a wet rag in the kitchen and it was still damp when I returned. That couldn't have killed any bedbugs in it! Thought it was 120-140 degrees inside the places for 3 hours! I am so mad I can't even see straight because I've already been down there with IN PERSON WITH BAGS OF LIVE BEDBUGS begging them for to help. Yesterday I went down there with a live one and the manager, Ken left a voicemail saying it was dead and he really needs to see live ones! I took a video of the bug in the bag because I KNEW HE WOULD PULL THIS B.S.! Scheduling spraying has been a nightmare with people showing up at the wrong times AFTER I CALLED TO CONFIRM. I've asked they not this incompetent guy to liquid treat again because he was there for ten minutes and didn't understand what we were telling him. I requested John a"JLo" as they call him as he had done an excellent, thorough job spraying. They sent Ken the manager instead who decided not to spray because we weren't "ready!"!! No one told us what we needed to do to get "ready". Then the poor incompetent guy came by anyway because they never cancelled. Typical Orkin Hayward, again and again. When Ken was in the apartment three days ago, he said we needed a new heat treatment because of the couch issue and the other issues I had tried to communicate with him earlier and he wouldn't listen. I was pleased he agreed we needed a heat treatment. Didn't hear anything for three days until... Today, Ken calls me right before he conveniently left on "vacation for a week" to tell me the bug I brought in was dead and HE NEEDS TO SEE MORE LIVE ONES and we will need to wait on this!! What!? Thank God I have the video of the bug moving around minutes before I drove it all the way down there because I can see where this is going with these a-holes Me: Why didn't you tent the house? Ken: Because we don't do tenting. And we're so good at treating them we have a 100% success rate Ohh.... read more

TL;DR Do not waste your time with Orkin. I waited 4 hours for a no-show despite calling multiple times to confirm the appointment. I have been waiting for the inspector for 4 hours and have called 3 separate times today to confirm the appointment and get a better ETA. Each time, the call center assured me they have reached out to the inspector and will have the inspector text me an ETA. The inspector never contacted me and when 5pm (end of the appointment window) rolled around, there was no sign of an inspector. I called the call center to see if they can contact someone and they tell me that the regional office dispatching the inspector was closed -- there was nothing else they could do. I ask to speak to a manager said and the manager offered to reach out to the branch manager. 30 mins later the branch manager calls me to tell me that the appointment was not in the system (despite I having called them multiple times to confirm). read more

Something happened to this place between 2010 to now and not for the better. Recently I became aware of termite damage in my garage. The inspector agreed but also said I had mold on part of the inside of the roof. The work would cost over a thousand dollars. My next estimate, inspector says,"no mold", "termites were long gone", "you don't need to hire us, you have no work"! We love Tuan Nguyen, he is literally the best! He always calls the day before he comes to remind us to unlock our gate and keep the dogs in the house which is much appreciated. He cleans all the spider webs each time he comes (on the house/fence/bushes/garbage cans/etc.), so it always looks better after Tuan's visits. We had a rat problem in our garage and Tuan set up traps and patched holes around our house and the problem went away the next week or so. We had mice in the garage and he came by to take a look when my husband was home (I was not) and my husband asked him to just look around outside and the garage... which i was not okay with as i am scared to death of rodents. I called Tuan (yes, i have his personal cell phone number) and he happily came back a few hours later and walked through our home (moving furniture with us to look for droppings) and luckily there was no sign that these rodents got in the house, but i wouldn't of been able to sleep until Tuan came back! We appreciate Tuan so much and are so lucky that he services our home! Thank you!!! read more

I informed him that I had cancelled two days before. Just now I get a call wanting to follow up on the inspection. WHAT! The inspection never happened. I had a free termite inspection byRenRen and he was so thorough. We have a wildlife critter problem in our basement area and he pointed me in the right direction to have my problems solved. We are set up for cages to capture, a person to cement all the applicable areas and a clean-up crew to remove all the waste. Orkin seems to be able to solve all my problems. I'm sad to say my experience with Orkin was not favorable. William, the tech was kind person and a nice man. My issue isn't with him. I think he is working in a system that over sells by phone and doesn't do what they say they will do. When I signed up for Orkin, the guy on the phone described how they crawl around the house, find all the access points, remove the scent, etc etc. The description of the service was so glowing. After seeing what they planned to do for the huge fee of almost $1,000, I decided I could better handle it myself. (They basically laid mouse traps all around my kitchen with Nutella on them.) They didn't truly inspect my property for other areas for critters. When I called this morning to cancel, the guy in Charlotte was so incredibly disrespectful and not helpful at all. He claims he has no idea where I mail the cancellation notice and made some degrading comments. I'm sad to say, I am just not a fan. I did find an address to cancel service. On 4/25/2019 an Orkin employee entered our property to spray. I reminded him to close the side gate when he was done. A short time later he left with gate not closed. Latter, I let my dog loose in the backyard and he got out. It took over 30 minutes to find my dog. I was very scared. He could have gotten killed. This is the second time this employee left the gate open. I believe closing a gate is part of the job. Even when I reminded him, he did not do it. I phone the company to complain. The man who sprayed called me back to say he closed the gate (he lied). He wanted to argue with me. A 20 pound dog cannot open a closed gate. I don't want this person on my property again. I think that is reasonable. I called the company to request this. I was assured that his supervisor would call me back. Three days later, no one has responded. I guess they don't care. read more

Idiots they kept calling me asking for my credit card but I kept telling them I already paid and that I even have my receipt and they still never fixed it in their system. Anyways the guy just look around my house for 10 mins and charged me $95 to tell me I didn't have any pests. He didn't even check thoroughly. And if he stole the money that's not my problem. I would rate negative or 0 if allowed here. Took forever to setup inspection appointment, no follow up. When it's the time for actual treatment day, NO SHOW. 2nd appointment made, no follow on ETA, no pick up after calling multiple times and leaving a voicemail. They need to understand customers need to spend time in making internal arrangement and preparing the house for them to do treatment. Each NO SHOW, it's waste of time and efforts. It doesn't seem that they care. They also need to understand the urgency when someone calls for pest control help. Providing the service 1 month later or with no follow up is like telling the customers "I'm totally ok with the insect infestation to continue at your place". I didn't go with them in the end, as I wasn't sure what I was getting involved in. Worst customer service ever. I told Orkin that I have locked gates so needed to have an appointment for bait station inspections. I stayed home to unlock the gates for three appointments and was stood up for all three of them. As my annual fee was becoming due, I called and asked for an inspection. I had Orkin Pest Control to take care one of my rental apartments in Oakland. There was a complaint about fleas that were bothering tenants dog. I schedule Orking pest control immediately for one time treatment -$200. They kept coming for over six month for regular check up $100 per visit. I kept it going just to make sure nothing like that will happen again. When I tried to terminate the monthly visits - they told me it should be 30 days advance notice, and they have to continue with inspection that already scheduled. On the last inspection visit - the Orkin technitian told my tenants that this is his last visit and they might get pest infestations again. What the hell??? You don't discuss business with tenants - you discuss it with Owner who pays your bill. Of-cource tenant complained immediately saying that they need service to be restored!... I WILL NEVER USE ORKIN AGAIN - EVER!!! read more

I would give them 0 stars if I could. I spoke with the pest controller who would be coming out to see about our budding rat problem (a rat in the garage) on the same day he arrived. Upon arrival, while standing below the front porch, he claimed that he was told he would be dealing with mice, not rats (even though I talked to him over the phone about an hour before) and that he would be leaving immediately unless we signed up for a year long contract that cost $300+ a month. When I told him that was ridiculous, he left immediately, not having even stepped onto my porch. When I called Orkin dispatch, they told us that "he had inspected our house, and found there to be a massive infestation, and since its 'he said she said' there's nothing we can do." Laughable service and userus prices, I doubt there's a single worse pest control company anywhere in the Bay. It's a shame, too, because 5 years ago they dealt with a similar rat problem for us within a single month, very professionally, and didn't try to shove this prescription service garbage down our throats. They deserve zero stars. I called main number and got a quote to treat rodent issue (rats). $395. When they got here I asked the guy if he was gonna go up on the roof to seal entry spaces which other companies identified. The technician said "I don't have a ladder tall enough in my truck and it was too high". I started laughing. I said isn't this your job to treat rodents? He said you'll have to speak to my mgr. So I did. He started quoting extra charges above and beyond 3 entry points the size of a quarter. This was never mentioned on initial call. Then he says the 800 number was located in Georgia and whatever they said doesn't apply to California. What a total 3-ring circus. These guys are a joke. He then goes on and says they normally don't go up on roofs. I just broke out laughing. He said it doesn't appear this deal was gonna work and asked the technician to leave and weren't gonna charge us for plugging up some holes. These idiots are the absolute WORST. Clearly a joke. You'll be so frustrated with these clowns. Good luck if you try them! LOL. read more

Broudy S. We have a rat problem in a detached garage. Called Orkin, they put out traps and the rats ate the bait and the traps did not engage. They came up with all kinds of reasons why they were not catching rats and not looking at the fact that their traps don't work. I have been with Orkin since 2014, and I signed up for monthly service and paid annually. We hired Orkin for mice control! Everything is fine until Orkin changed its service rap. in my area summer 2017. The new service rep. is Bharat. Bharat did not do his diligence to check the crawl space every month during his visit, and it leads to a bad massy rodent infestation in the crawl space. I asked Bharat to clean up the mass and rodent droppings but he refused. He said it will be extra charge for clean up. I contacted Orkin office in Hayward and spoke to April and Pona. I informed them that we are Orkin's contracted customer and If Bharat has done his job to check the crawl space activity on every visit, we could have an early detection and won't lead to this big mass! Orkin should clean and disinfect the crawl space without additional charge. The office still insisted an extra charge of $600 for clean up. I was very disappointed on Orkin's unprofessional service in every way. I canceled my service in December 2019. I have to reach out to it's regional manager to get my refund for the reminder service months. After I canceled the service, Orkin still keep billing me for monthly service and odd job fees. I called the 866-944-4012 number several times, and they told me its an error in billing and they will correct it. I can disregard the invoice. But 2 months later I received a letter from collection agent for the past due amount. I called the 866 number again, and they said it an error on their end and will correct it. I hope they really will do so! This company is very unorganized! Their phone voice recorder said " we are not happy until you are happy!" It is absolutely untrueAnd, it's not happening with Orkin. Called Orkin on a Saturday made an appointment to come spray the outside of our house on Monday between 10-12. No one showed up. I called again around 2:00 to tell them no one showed up. The lady I spoke to on the phone said she is going to call a manager in the field to see where the person was. Never got a call back and still no show. For a 275.00 quote go to someone else . I also stayed home all day waiting because we have a fenced in back yard. I will never use them again!! read more
