Walked in and sat at the bar due to not being able to make it to our reservation at another nearby restaurant that was flooded out after a deluge. Felt like we were traveling in Europe and just popped in to a local establishment for nosh, drink and respite from the storm. Excellent service and dining experience. Looking forward to coming back and having a proper sit down affair. The red snapper special was seared and crispy with a nice combination of romesco and a basil/mint sauce. The skin on the snapper was delicious. Also had the PEI mussels and frites. Man, that was a lot of fries. The mayo was amazing. Schlumberger pinot gris was great. This is, far and away, my favorite restaurant in Jacksonville. I've visited hundreds of times, and when visitors come in from out of town, I bring them here. I'm sort of amazed that I haven't previously left a review. The food is consistently great, and the staff are always friendly and attentive. I've enjoyed sitting outside at the tables they have there, indoors at a regular table, and when dining solo, the bar staff have done a great job of recommending pairings for what I've ordered. This restaurant EXCEEDED my expectations. I called American Express Concierge to help me get same night reservations at 9:30pm. I was told the kitchen closes at 10pm. So the agent called the restaurant on my behalf. We arrived at 9:57pm and were the only guests. Our waiter, Chris, was exceptionally attentive to us and our requests. Let me start with the fact that the kitchen stayed open late for us! The food was amazing! I ordered the following: - Lobster Mac - It had huge chunks of lobster and was creamy/cheesy - Bread platter - the baguette was fresh and the butter was so smooth. The butter tasted like it was creamed on a Danish farm. -Pan roasted fish - very delicious - Crème Brûlée - I was initially told the list of desserts that were available. So I decided to pass on dessert because I'd only wanted the crème brûlée and it wasn't in the list. To my surprise, when we boxed up our meal, the waiter included the this! I devoured this when I got back to my hotel. This is the second best version I've ever had. Chris even brought out a fresh baguette with containers of butter for us to take away because I loved the bread. Listen, this restaurant is officially a must visit for me whenever I'm in Jacksonville. The decor is understated, but tasteful. There is an outside patio that will be perfect for happy hour. The restroom was clean. They even had a stash of feminine products for life's emergencies. Our entire evening was perfect. This is the level of service that more restaurants should emulate. How have I not left a review for Orsay? Apologies as you have always been one of my faves locally. I've never had a bad meal and I always have incredible service. Things you must order -- Escargot. The last time I had it, it was in shell. For brunch, it was on toasted bread (baguette or ciabatta?) served with cress, mushrooms, lemon, garlic and butter. Oooof. The way the flavors dance around in your mouth...I dream about it. Dessert -- they are always serving something unique and crafted with top quality ingredients. The pistachio dacquoise was something special. Was my first time for brunch and everyone enjoyed their eats. I had the the omelette which was delish too and huge. Dinner is always fantastic -- the duck, cassoulet and boullabaise, and of course, lobster Mac are all fine choices. If you've never been, highly suggest. read more

Handed us menus (rudely) and walked away.... We came to Orsay for brunch and loved every minute! From the moment we walked in, we were hooked. The hostess had the best personality and the server was just as pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu. She kept ordering coming and suggested a tincture made in the kitchen. to spice up our Bloody Mary's. Amazing!! The potato leek soup was silky and full of flavor. We love the Pommes Frites and everyone at our table fought over them. A spinach salad is always a hot but the dressing put it over the top. The tomato tartare may as well have been tuna. The food was great and the staff were excellent but my oh my what's up with some of the customers? It's like they think they are the only ones who deserve to be there. One couple sat at the table next to us and asked to be moved. Personally I thought they had a bad smell under their nose. But rather than tell the staff that they were obnoxious and ruin our anniversary I thought to heck with them. I hope the sun keeps shining for them. I think to make it up to us a bit the staff were extra nice to us and as I said the food was fine. Served very tastefully and the staff actually took us to a nice spot to have a photo of us taken to remember our visit. We got into town kind of late on a Friday night and were looking for a good local restaurant to grab a bite to eat. My boujee cravings were in full swing even though it was 10 o'clock at night, so I was thrilled to see that Orsay was open late with their delicious French cuisine being so highly rated on Yelp. I was even more ecstatic when I got there and discovered that they have a late Night Cap menu from 10pm-12am featuring discounted cocktails, wine, small plates, and entrees! They were still pretty busy at this time, but we were able to score 2 seats at the bar. I got a glass of sparkling cava and we decided to share some plates: Escargot, Onion Soup, Black Truffle Mac N' Cheese, and the Mussels Frites (white wine, garlic, butter, thyme, house made pommes frites). The escargots were mixed with mushrooms, garlic, lemon and butter -- just the way I like them. And that has to be one of the best onion soups I've ever had with the perfect amount of broiled gruyere on top. The truffle mac was super creamy and delicious. The star of the show were the biggest PEI mussels I've ever seen! I love when restaurants serve fries with mussels to dip in the white wine garlic sauce... heavenly. The portion sizes of everything were very generous and I definitely ordered way too much food, but no regrets because they made for some good leftovers the next day. Lauren was the perfect server! It was our first time visiting and we were so excited. She never made us feel rushed and we felt celebrated the entire time. They started us off with a pitcher of water and glasses of complimentary champagne for our anniversary. We started with the escargot, which was good, but not my favorite I've ever had. The bread and butter was yummy too! My hubby got the "cereal killer" drink and I had the pear jalapeño margarita. They were both divine! Went here for a graduation dinner. Everything was 10/10. The appetizers were all amazing, particularly the tartare, marinated olives, and rillettes. I had the stroganoff and it was delicious. I'm honestly shocked I didn't enjoy my food more. I've waited for some time to visit this restaurant and I was not impressed. Maybe I built up my hopes to high. I went for a friend brunch date. I ordered the steak and eggs. The steak was cooked to my liking but nothing that wowed me. The bread/jam spread was more impressive. Who knew you can find such a gem in Jacksonville?! Absolutely loved everything about it. This one of those places that I will be making up a business trip to Jax for. I've been coming here for over a decade, and it used to be amazing but lately every visit has come with issues. The timing of the food is off - everything comes out at once including cold soup and cold entrées. The salads have had wilted yellow lettuce, which I personally think should be served. I sat at the bar, and the bartender had to look up every drink recipe for each of us something you wouldn't expect at a restaurant like tjis. On another visit I ordered soup to go with our appetizers, but it came out with the entrées instead. I told the server I didn't want it anymore, but they brought it anyway and charged me for it, even though I never touched it. The drink selection is excellent, and the bouillabaisse was one of the best I've had. Unfortunately due to the inconsistencies, I wouldn't recommend this place for a special occasion but would for a casual dinner. read more

Now on to the details. When we arrived we all ordered drinks, they make a fantastic old fashioned here, and the Bloody Mary was so tasty! Appetizer, we had a sample of all the devil eggs, they didn't have the 10 dollars egg, but what we had was amazing, highly recommend the 5 dollars egg, with lobster, so delicious, no arguments. The pastry basket was amazing, today we had a savory cheese danish that was out of this world and paired with the sweetness of all the toppings we had.. wait, I can't describe anymore. I ordered the mussels and they were not only super tasty but they were so clean. No sand at all, I also had a side of French fries and they came with this deliciously tangy aioli. Thought the potato chips were really yummy. - Fresh Fish (5*) Today was flounder from NC. An almost impossibly crispy skin. Great flavor. You can eat inside and out (they have heaters). I ordered the escargot , didn't come how I usually like it . It was just okay , came out warm instead of hot. The Mac and cheese was good, made with catavali noodles. It's very saucy but got the job done. The lobster pot pie sounded nice but it's really lobster with a biscuit and veggies. This is my new favorite Jacksonville restaurant for 5 star quality foodies. The atmosphere and food are surely a delight. The service was top notch and impressive. Oh, the food oh boy the food, starting with the Filet Mignon which was so tender and delicious you could cut it with a fork. The Filet was tasty and far better than any specialty steakhouse. The Lobster Mac and Cheese was mouth watering and delectable. Don't forget to try the shrimp cocktail too. The food quality was superb and will leave you desiring more. Four of us set out to enjoy a celebratory dinner at Orsay on a Friday night.  The staff honored the request on our reservation and sat us at a really nice, semi-secluded corner table - our dining experience from that point on was totally outstanding! The service was low-key while being completely attentive; our waitress always wore a smile, and gave us a number of spot-on recommendations :-) I could tell it was going to be a great meal when our appetizers arrived.  We got two orders of the lobster mac & cheese, as well as the French onion soup.  I've had both dishes in many places over the years, but Orsay's rendition of both was first-shelf, and the lobster mac & cheese an absolute thing of beauty!  The dish was rich and creamy, with a subtle flavor profile that was so enticing that I was almost tempted to order another helping :-) Our entrees (filet mignon, beef stroganoff, lamb sirlon, and the pan seared fish) were all excellent, but the pan seared fish totally took the prize!  It was served with bacon, grits, and creamed corn, then topped with a delicous cress - completely amazing! For dessert we all opted for their house-made ice cream with mini creme brulees.  It was a wonderful finish to a perfect meal :-) To sum it all up, the combination of warm, welcoming atmopshere, world-class cuisine and exceptional service totally made our evening; I look forward to returning soon. read more

What a pleasant surprise Our dinner plans had an unexpected change and we needed to find another place to eat.. we just showed up at Orsay, the dining room/reservations and bar were full but we persevered and got two seats at the bar! All 3 bar staff were great; drinks were perfect and the entree recommendations were appreciated for this first timer! I've been to Orsay for special occasions probably 6 times in the last 4 years, tonight I was disappointed. Started out at "happy hour". My daughter had a 52$ filet ordered " medium", was overcooked and had to be replaced. The Irish coffee I had for dessert looked like a regular coffee, no whipped cream, wasn't actually hot and minimal whiskey. We had a 325$ check( for 4 people) and the meal and experience was less than I had grown to appreciate.. service was mediocre. Inconsistent, Overpriced, and Disappointing for Vegetarians I've given Orsay three chances, the first one was phenomenal with just dessert, but the second two were a letdown--especially as a vegetarian. Visit 1 (May last year): My girlfriend and I came just for dessert. The chocolate mousse, the turtle cheesecake, and the mini creme brûlée of the day (a chocolate raspberry one) were excellent and we couldn't wait to come back. Visit 2 (about a month later): Encouraged by the dessert, we came back for dinner and ordered the vegan shepherd's pie and the faux croque madame. The shepherd's pie was listed with mashed potatoes in the physical menu, but showed fingerling potatoes online--and that's what we were served: lukewarm fingerlings with no flavor. The faux croque madame was bland and difficult to eat, it was more like an open faced sandwich with the toppings falling off. Again we ordered the chocolate mousse and it was great, the only good part of this experience. Minor detail - the first time we ordered the chocolate mousse it came with gold flakes and the second time it didn't. Small, but we noticed. Visit 3 (nearly a year later): After a long break, we gave Orsay one last shot. I ordered the pasta primavera, which was just pasta topped with oily vegetables--no seasoning, no effort, just bland. My girlfriend ordered the mushroom pappardelle, which was similarly disappointing: the sauce was described as a cream sauce but came out more like a soup. Extremely thin, almost watery. On the last two visits, service was consistently slow. I feel like we don't ask for much, but on the third visit our waitress checked in shortly after we received our food, but we didn't see her again the rest of the meal. We had been finished eating for at least 20 minutes before a busboy came to clear our table. Another 20 minutes passed before our waitress came by to ask if we were interested in dessert. We originally did want dessert, but after having waited so long with an empty table for the check, we figured it was better to spend our money elsewhere so we wound up at Biscottis. The most frustrating part is that the specifically vegetarian/vegan menu is full of misleading information. The online vegetarian options say they come with fries, but in person they come with a side salad--and the fries are cooked in animal fat anyway. Several "vegetarian" items also include Parmigiano-Reggiano, which contains animal rennet and isn't actually vegetarian. It's hard to trust a menu that shows this little care for dietary accuracy. If you're vegetarian or vegan, Orsay just isn't worth it. The desserts are excellent, but everything else feels like an afterthought. It's disappointing to see a place that presents itself as thoughtful and refined fall this flat on execution and care. read more

Absolutely love this restaurant! We have sat outside, lounge, bar, back or restaurant etc all locations are equally as great and have their own atmosphere. Every server I have had has been thorough, knowledgeable and provided excellent suggestions. All food and cocktails ordered here have been incredible and made with passion and love. 5 stars for Orsay happy hour/dinner! I picked this restaurant for my birthday after hearing rave reviews from locals. We didn't have a reservation since we were planning to sit at the bar for happy hour at 5 pm. When we arrive the hostess notified us that she did have a table available, and we could do happy hour at a table. Amazing! Our server was great. I started with a glass of rose prosecco and my boyfriend had a daiquiri. All of the wine is half off for happy hour. Insane! I knew I wanted to order oysters, so I started with 6, plus the scallop crudo, and a small lobster mac. Our waiter also brought out warm bread and butter. My boyfriend ordered the cheeseburger and fries and all of our dishes came out at the same time. These were the best oysters I have ever had! Seriously! I don't remember where they were from, but our waiter described them as a "boutique" oyster. The scallop crudo was fresh and buttery. I scooped some of it on the chips, but could have eaten a whole bowl of it just with a spoon. On to the lobster mac. HEAVEN! It had huge chunks of lobster meat throughout and was such a treat. There were a few pieces of lobster shell that I had to spit out, but it wasn't that much of a problem. My boyfriend loved his burger and fries and I enjoyed snacking on the fries too. I decided to order a glass of red wine when I was eating the mac and cheese, and was between bordeaux and cab franc. I also ordered 6 more oysters (did I mention they are half off 4-7pm), and the waiter recommended the Cab Franc to pair with the oysters. I thought that was an odd suggestion, but the Cab Franc was peppery and earthy while still fruity. Loved it! Finished with that Bordeaux I was contemplating before plus 2 small creme brulees and homemade ferrero roche chocolates with huge chunks of hazelnuts. This meal was sooo good and the atmosphere is very comfortable and casual. It felt like such a splurge and was really not that expensive at all during happy hour. We will be back soon! read more
