I feel like giving it a 3 is generous but I cannot completely ignore the fact the food for the most part was delicious. It was the difference in treatment that was disappointing. I didn't necessarily need compensation, but more so acknowledgement. Food: The bouillabaisse is decent but nothing special. When they say it's in a tomato based sauce, oh it is definitely tomato-y, a little too much for my liking. Also could use some crushed red peppers. The Lamb Sirloin was a step up. I do feel like the lamb lacked something in flavor but the accompaniment in veggies were delicious. Because of the lack of flavor in the lamb, the did compensate for some but was sadly not enough for the entirety of the meal. The best part was the crème brûlée. The fact their is a petite size is amazing and just the perfect amount. Or maybe in this case, more could've been eaten as it was so good. Service: I sat at the bar where there were different personalities. The initial interaction seems curt and just rushed and rude in general. This same gentleman gave off the same attitude further into the meal. The ladies were friendly. One accidentally spilled a carafe of water, which I tried to catch and pick up promptly as she seemed in awe and embarrassed (as I'd be as well) as I didn't want the water to continue to spill. The spilled water got on both me and another gal at the bar with more going on her clothes while mine went on the phone on the bar and the right side of me. In the end, they comped her drink and profusely apologized to her for the mishap while I was ignored in this whole instance. Spilled happened on both people, including my phone and not a word was said to me. I am about service and just decency. It's what keeps people coming back as a restaurant is an experience in my opinion. We visited Orsay for a quick early dinner on Friday night. They were not too busy, and seated us immediately. At first glance, the building looks fairly small, but it's deceivingly big! It all centers around the kitchen. The decor and mood is lovely. They also had an outdoor eating area. Our server was fantastic. He started out by explaining the happy hour offerings and the specials. We were then given water, and put in an order of oysters. I was very impressed by the selection of oysters. Many restaurants only offer gulf, East, or west coast, however they had one from each coast. We ordered a combination of East and West coast. The vinegar with the oysters was very good, and so was the sauce. After that, I ordered the escargot, scallop tartar, and olives. The escargot were very good. They were buttery and tender and melted in my mouth. The mushrooms with them were also very good. The scallop tartar was light and refreshing. It had a ceviche-esque feel to it. The olives were also very good. My friend ordered the Pan cooked fish of the day which was grouper. The fish was perfectly cooked - crispy on the outside and still moist on the inside. That being said, the corn grits were the star of the dish. They were incredible, unlike any grits I've had before. The thick cut bacon was also a great touch. Overall, we were very impressed with the food and the service at Orsay. I don't go to jacksonville often, and I try to go to new places each time, but I would go back to Orsay for sure! read more

Wow! Where to start? We started with the dressed fresh oysters. A bit pricey but the flavors will give your mouth a treat! We had two orders of the trout spread, another treat! We also share a salad which was perfect! I had the mussels, but didn't want fries so I had spinach and that was also delicious! The sauce for the mussels was perfect! My husband had the duck breast with truffled mash potatoes. That was special. We had a berry cake for dessert and that didn't disappoint! The place is also pretty interesting inside. Not typical French but kool! The only thing I didn't like was the bread. It was a very basic looking bland white bread. Not a real French bread. My favorite place for Sunday Brunch is Restaurante Orsay. Whenever I want something special, and brunch being my favorite meal, this is my go to place. They have the best tasting omelets and other breakfast item. I've tried all their vegetarian omelets and the Champignon (mushroom) et Gruyere Omelet is my absolute fave. Mushroom & Gruyere combined are combined for a rich flavor. The portions are so big that I sometimes take 1/2 of it home for breakfast the next day. They always serve bread with butter & a berry preserve. I usually have a nice breakfast cocktail with my meal, a mimosa or some other special drink like the Corpse Reviver #2 with Absinthe rinse or the Manifest Reviver with St. Germaine Elderflower liquer . On my last visit, our party of 4 shared a Grand Mimosa, a bottle of champagne with bottomless orange juice. Just right. Reseration is highly recommended. Online reservation is very easy and my preference is Park St. vs. the bar area. in the past we've had our Christmas Party in their private Brocade Room in the back, near the bar. It's so private that there's a separate entrace. The food and service is amazing. Jason Eddy and Danielle always made sure we had a nice event. When I think of a special meal I think of Orsay. They never disappoint. This award winning restaurant on Park St. has been around for a while. All my visits have always been satisfying. I went with a large group and we were seated in a side room. The appetizers were all very good. The shrimp, calamari and steak tartare were all excellent. The oysters also great. For my entree I opted for the filet mignon top with seared foie gras. The steak and topping were cooked perfectly. For dessert I tried the sorbet that was a red fruit with coconut flavor. It tasted ok but I could not get past the coconut reminding me of sunscreen. Our service was still good for a large group. We got off to a slow start but food service was delivered with almost all the entrees at the same time. Some minor things that could be improved: Wine list can be requested but a lot of the wines listed were not available. The regular menu does have wines listed but it is not a large selection. The group room smelled a little musty from the AC vent when the air was blowing. Maybe time for a vent cleaning. Linen tablecloth would also be a nice touch for the group room. Parking Tip: parking is tight; don't take a large car down the main parking as it is very hard to turn around. The gym next door to the restaurant does have signs that permit today parking. I was invited by fabulous friends to have a late lunch at a spot they adoré. French cuisine in a local neighborhood I thought was going to be interesting. Thus this was a perfect spot the patio was inviting and comfortable. Simple and relaxed. Every dish was presented beautifully there was nothing that I didn't enjoy. I wanted to taste everything on the menu. To recommend anything specifically would do the other offerings a unjustness. From the head chef to who does the dishes you have something special here. The service was unpretentious, smooth, and relaxed. For example, after she gave us the dessert menus we couldn't find her for about 15 minutes and decided against it just because of how long it took for her to come back. My husband and I had a wonderful dinner here! We started with drinks at the bar. The bartender was welcoming and made a couple of good drink recommendations. I ordered a cocktail off the seasonal menu that was great. When we finished our drinks we were timely sat at a table. We ordered a the Petite Plateau which was loaded with amazing seafood and was a perfect way to start the meal. We added steak tartare which was one of the better steak tartares I've ever tried. We then split the fish of the day and brussel sprouts. I'd order all of the above again. We ended with a bread pudding and amaro. Very pleased with the meal. They have a great Happy Hour menu consisting of many items on their regular menu, just in smaller quantities and for much less cost. We got all the food pictured here for about $70 before tip. A great value! One of the best restraunts just outside of Avondale. They have different rooms that all have a different vibe! This is a great date night option or to have a family/friend outing. Top notch service (shout out to Lauren who knew everything about the menu, food and drink recommendations!) They have an cocktail option called just trust me where you pick your spirit and the bartenders end up making a cocktail of their choice...we ordered two bourbons and got different drinks which I thought was awesome. Afterwards they drop off the ingredients they used to craft the cocktail along with the bartender's name. (Shout-out to April on perfect cocktails!). The menu has something on it for everyone and they had dinner specials until selling out. Ordered smoked trout spread and tomato tartare for appz. The trout flavor was intense and very smoky; it was great but the tomato tartare was the real standout to me. Fresh, acidic, and herby; it just hit every note. Ordered cocktails and they were well balanced and strong but I had to wait 20-25 min for each of them so it was a bit long. I ordered the duck breast for my main and my date ordered steak frites. Duck was fantastic and well seasoned and the beans and sweet potato it came with were a surprisingly nice pairing. The steak frites was probably the standout though. Huge pile of crispy well-seasoned fries and perfectly cooked medium rare steak. Simple and elegant. We started with a nice red wine ($16/glass) and Trois Foie Mousse (very good). I had the Lamb Sirloin which was out of this world good. My date had the Filet, medium. Well her steak was very well done - gray and dry as cotton. They apologized and remade a new one, but my date was bummed because we were not eating together at the same time. Her replacement steak was very 'medium-well' with very little pink in the center. (Don't get the Filet!) We had a total of 4 glasses of wine, 2 champagne, 1 port, 1 coffee, and 2 desserts (bread pudding and cream brûlée - both good). Yes, we had a long list of things - but $500 is way too much. We visited for Orsay's happy hour selection and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The restaurants bar dining and bar section is open and ambiance is intimate but not stuffy. We sat at the bar for happy hour and the bartenders were informative and friendly. I started with the pear jalapeno margarita on happy hour and found it balanced, not sweet, and delicious. I also ordered the scallop tartar and truffle Mac and cheese happy hour selections. The scallop tartar was very fresh, served over thin sliced cucumbers with a nice rich green oil (maybe a pesto oil?) , and served with salted toasty kettle chips. The truffle Mac and cheese is soo delicious that I make sure I get that most visits! I actually prefer their truffle Mac and cheese flavor over their lobster Mac and cheese! Orsay was an okay experience. The sole purpose of visiting Orsay was for their beef Wellington which was the best part of the meal. I have seen previous reviews stating it is $100. As of 7/23/22, it's now $125. You must call 24 hours in advance to place your order. Once you arrive, it takes about 40-45 minutes to serve the dish. They present it to you then take it back to cut it in four. The Wellington comes with a side salad which really helps cut the heaviness of the dish. Recommended for two to share. We took our server's recommendation and just ordered some appetizers and sides, which were all quite expensive. Seared scallops comes with 3 scallops which we joked about getting 2... welp $22. Lobster Mac and cheese $24, my husband loved this and thought there was a fair amount of lobster for the price. Honestly, not sure why we decided on fries but it was $10. It is a large basket of fries but I wish they were truffle parm or something more exciting for $10. The side of Brussels sprouts come with this thick cut bacon that was delicious but the Brussels sprouts were greasy and bitter $14. It came in a ramekin with a hand full of Brussels sprouts and a sprinkle of bacon. For his birthday, they kindly provided him with a macaron. It was a fruity pebble macaron with a salty buttercream. The salty buttercream helped with the sweetness but the macaron was hollow. Other desserts did sound good but we were too full to have any more food. Service was not good; nothing amazing, nothing terrible. The restaurant is dim and gets chilly. The ambiance was confusing. It was so loud that I could not even have a conversation with my husband without asking him to repeat himself. There's a bar area where the television was playing sports. People are standing around having drinks, etc. It was nowhere near the intimate experience I was expecting and would not be a place I'd try to get to know someone because it was way too loud. There is outside seating which may provide a better dining experience. It was a Saturday evening though so maybe it'd be a better experience during the weekday. read more

Great for fancy date night, anniversary, birthday, celebrations, wedding receptions, etc. Pics are from a friends bday 2 weeks ago but was here in March for a small wedding reception. Everything you try is a mouthgasm. It's worth every penny. Try it for dinner and brunch. Go back again and try everything else on the menu.
