Solid spot for Korean food in Austin. I came to try the Korean fried chicken on a Sunday. The chicken was perfectly crispy, and the tong ddak sauce was very flavorful. We also got the dolsot bibimbap and the black sesame pumpkin swirl bread. I loved the bread. The sesame added a nice nutty flavor, and it wasn't too sweet. There was a honey butter on the side which added more sweetness if you wanted. I thought the bibimbap was just ok. We added pork belly to ours, and the meat was kinda dry. Service was very attentive and I loved the decor around the restaurant. Overall, it was a good brunch meal.
it's mid for the high prices. we were both still hungry after splitting everything too. the workers were very kind and the ambiance is dim for date nights!
I met a friend for dinner after a YELP event at Oseyo restaurant, which offered a refreshing and elevated dining experience. The menu provided a thoughtful balance of bold flavors and approachable options, making it easy for us to find something we enjoyed. To be honest, when I looked at the menu it looked like it was printed in a foreign language. None of the highlighted menu items looked familiar, however, reading the components of the menu items made it easier to make selections. The dishes arrived well-paced, which helped maintain the flow of our conversation. OMG...Oseyo is a visual masterpiece with a Zen-like presence...rock garden, palm tree, dessert plants and aesthetically pleasing outside overhang. Inside the restaurant, the Zen state continued with warm colors and décor. The food stood out for its freshness and attention to detail. Flavors were well layered and distinct, giving the meal a memorable quality. Portion sizes were generous for a dinner. We ordered a fried chicken and chicken skewers as appetizers. The fried chicken an absolutely intoxicating plum sauce. You really felt like licking your fingers. For entrees, we ordered sweet potato noodles with steak and a hot pot with chicken. The hot pot was truly the stand out. The atmosphere was modern and comfortable, lending itself well to feeling relaxed. Overall, Oseyo delivered a high-quality dining experience that felt intentional and well executed food and pleasant dining environment.
This was my second visit and it did not disappoint! The sweet & sour pork ribs, Dwaeji Kalbi, were so delicious. My waitress was attentive amidst a busy Sunday dinner crowd. It can get quite busy even for a Sunday, make a reservation!
Came in on a weeknight and was seated right away. A few parking spots in front and some side parking as well. The inside is really pretty and clean. I had never eaten at a Korean restaurant and our server was helpful in helping us decide what to order. For an appetizer we tried the jjin mandu and these were the best things we ate all night. Definitely a must order! We wanted to try a few different things so we ordered the dolsot bibimbap with tofu, kimchi jjigae, and the bulgogi. The bulgogi was definitely my favorite of the three and had the most flavor. I loved eating it in lettuce wraps with all the toppings they provide. The kimchi jjigae was also good with a nice almost sour broth but we were gravitating more towards the other two dishes. The dolsot bibimbap was my second favorite. It was a great rice bowl with lots of veggies, just wish it had a little more flavor. They provide a sauce to add to it which helped but it was still lacking in my opinion. Since it comes out in a hot bowl, the rice at the bottom starts to get crispy after a little bit and that was yummy too! For dessert, the date cake was amazing! I wish they served it warm but it was still so good. Overall, the entrees were lacking in flavor to me but loved the appetizers and desserts. They also have a great happy hour so would love to come back and try that!
Great spot for brunch - only regret is not trying this place out sooner. Something for everyone. - outdoor seating is lovely, not fully shaded though - seats by the windows for couples is the move - service was super kind and helpful with suggestions - they have mocktails too, try their limeade! - food was 10/10 everything we ordered! Generous portions The fried chicken was super delicious, the ramen was perfect and the fried rice in a hot bowl was really good, some folks may find the "crisped" part of the rice chewy. I loved it though.
THE BIG: Located in East Austin, this Korean restaurant has the vibes to set the mood. Indoor seating primarily with an outdoor waiting area. Street parking available. THE BLACK AND WHITE: I came here for lunch with some co workers when we were co-working across the street at the Malin. The lunch rush was pretty light and we were seated pretty quickly. Food-wise we shared the spicy wontons, the pork belly, and we each go the bibimbap dolsot. Dolsot just means crackling pot which makes the rice at the bottle super crunchy and flavorful. Everything was just alright in my opinion and the meats were very dry. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Just ok korean food and for the damage done of the food served, it was around $65. Relatively pricey for the quality of food you get.
We came here on a Thursday night for a girl's happy hour for drinks and bites. We all got the $10 mango margarita and a few bites - mini mandu, crunchy korean fried chicken bites, rice cakes - all a few dollars off for happy hour, and very tasty. The mandu had a wonderful kick - nice if you like spicy! The menu is on the expensive site (think around $15-20 for a small plate, and $30 for an entree) but the interior is pretty fancy probably justifies the inflated prices. The staff are polite and attentive.
Rating: 4/5 [dine in] Oseyo is a nice-looking restaurant, but the prices are on the higher end. We came for dinner on a Thursday night during happy hour. While the space itself was enjoyable, the service felt a bit slow. It took a while for our drinks to come out, and we had to check in on them. On the plus side, the food came out at a good pace. We had previously tried Oseyo via takeout and did not enjoy it, but dining in was a night-and-day difference. The food was noticeably better this time. Mango Margarita ($10 HH | $16): Wow, this was actually really good. I really enjoyed this drink and found it well balanced and refreshing. I was a bit skeptical since it was the only cocktail on the happy hour menu, but it did not disappoint. That said, we were initially charged the regular price instead of the happy hour price. We tried calling the restaurant around 9:25 PM to address this, but the call went straight to voicemail with a message stating the restaurant was closed, even though the website lists a 10:00 PM closing time. I emailed them that night, and they refunded the difference the next day, which I appreciated and felt was handled quickly. Pal O' Mine ($17): This mezcal-based drink was not bad overall, but the salt rim was way too heavy and overly salty. Tong Ddak ($15): Sweet and tangy Korean fried chicken that was very saucy while still staying crispy. I thought it was better the first time I had it, but my husband liked it more this visit. This time, the sauce was so tasty that we ended up dipping everything in it. The house pickles on the side were also really good. Bossam ($16): Thick slices of pork belly that were soft from the fat yet crispy from being fried. This is best eaten right away, as it starts to get hard if it sits too long. It was great as a wrap with ssamjang and lettuce. Kalbi ($42): This entrée came with rice, leafy greens for wrapping, ssamjang, and banchan. The banchan portions (cucumber, radish, and kimchi) were very small, though they tasted good, and we had to ask for extra lettuce wraps. There was also some meat left on the bone that we had to cut off ourselves. The meat was slightly overcooked, and the meat on the bone was burnt and chewy. It was not terrible, but I have had better elsewhere and do not think it is worth the price.
I mean I'm just speechless! Oseyo is so consistently delicious. We had a table of 8 and seriously tried everything. It was ALL so good!! Can't even pick a favorite because it was all incredible. The waitress was super helpful with recommendations & coursing out dishes. It was all day happy hour on Thursday and was a great vibe. Can't recommend this place enough - everyone needs to experience this place at least once!
Beautiful space and presentation with friendly service. Sadly, the food wasn't anything special. Markedly, the main dish was not served with banchan. This is a great place to go if you're new to Korean food and want something that looks great. But if you know Korean food and this is not your first time, you will be disappointed. The Dolsot bibimbap did not come with banchan. It was a different remix of veggies and lacked the usual myriad veggie options that are standard to the dish. The fried chicken lacked the extra crunchiness that is the hallmark of Korean chicken. We didn't care for the Ddukbokki at all.
Overall this was just an okay place 3.7 to be more accurate. The seating was pretty nice. We came by for the chuseok special menu since it sounded interesting. The whole restaurant had nice seating plus outdoor space. it Was not that busy for a Saturday dinner shift. We made reservations just incase. There is not a lot of parking and once you get it it's hard to get out since it's on a Main Street. One of the items we got was the pork and shrimp dumplings. Presentation was nice but that was it. I expected the dumplings to be minced and stuffed but invest it was a butterflied shrimp with ground pork. Because it was made that way the shrimp was overcooked and chewy. Kind of understandable because you can't fully boil the pork without overcooking the shrimp. The dumpling itself tasted unseasoned and the only thing making it bearable was the sauce that came with it. Big thumbs down on this dumpling. The bed rib soup was more pleasant to eat. It came with veggies and a tomato base like broth plus rice. The special menu may not have came with the side dishes and we had to ask for it. Which all three side dishes came out pretty good. The dark tea tiramisu was also pretty good. Not too sweet. There was not anything else in the menu that really stuck out to me making me less inclined to return since there are a lot of other Korean places that do better for less.
Went yesterday evening to try the Korean Fried Chicken and it was delicious! We also had the Japchae and all of the sides that came with the KFC Bucket. Everything was tasty and my favorite side was the coleslaw (as someone who normally doesn't like coleslaw). The ambiance and architecture of the space was so nice especially the entrance, I really liked all of the natural light and the peaceful ambience. It felt like there needed to be a nice big fountain outside to give it an even more peaceful vibe with the sound of running water. It wasn't too busy which we liked, especially after arriving a few minutes early to our reservation and our server Jessie was very friendly and attentive which we appreciated. I would love to go back!
My boyfriend and I recently celebrated his birthday here and it was a wonderful experience overall! The interior of the restaurant has a cozy, inviting atmosphere that set the tone for the evening perfectly. To kick off the festivities, we ordered some cocktails. I ordered the Oseyo Fashioned 2.0, and if you're a whiskey lover like me, you'll love this one! They also have a seasonal menu so make sure to check that out. For appetizers, we ordered the Silken Tofu and Tong Dak. I'm still craving the Silken Tofu, it was smooth, creamy, and paired with a flavorful soy-based sauce. The Tong Dak, a Korean-style spicy chicken dish, had just the right amount of kick and was incredibly addictive. For mains, I ordered the Ddak Gui, a wood-fired sesame-marinated chicken dish. The chicken was tender, and the marinade had a fantastic balance of sweet and savory flavors. My boyfriend got the Soondubu Jigae, a spicy tofu stew that was packed with bold flavors and comforting warmth and loved it! We ended our meal with the Citron Cheesecake, which you won't believe has a tofu base! It was deliciously creamy and the perfect end to our meal. Throughout our meal, the service was exceptional. Our server was attentive and friendly, making sure we had everything we needed to make the evening special. If you're looking for a cute date night spot or just a nice dinner out with friends/family/colleagues, definitely give Oseyo a visit! read more
I was so excited to try this place with my friend. The restaurant was intimate with a laid back vibe that also promised high quality cuisine. There is some parking at the front of the restaurant and we were lucky to snag one of the few spots. Appetizers: Jjin Mandu- delicious but a little slippery. I did however manage to eat the entire appetizer, so my lack of chopsticks skills did not thwart me from enjoying this savory delight! Ddukbokki- My friend ordered the rice cakes which were flavorful and had the perfect texture. We shared the Bulgogi and Japchae. Both were very good but the Japchae was simply delicious! So if you are Vegan or GF you will love this dish. I am neither and it was by far my favorite!!! read more
I had some of the most remarkable service at Oseyo. Every time I so much as glanced in our wait-person's direction, they made a beeline for our table to inquire as to what we needed. They let us enjoy a leisurely meal without interfering with the conversation and made quick appearances at the table to ensure we were enjoying our meal. I wish I'd asked their name because I would have liked to put it in this review. The food was well-proportioned and delicious. The tuna tartare went beyond the standards of "thinly sliced raw tuna" as they pair it with apples and pickled watermelon rind - a fun texture and taste! The ribeye in the bulgogi was cooked perfectly and the veggies were crunchy. I had my meal with a fantastic sparkling white wine and my date opted for the lime mocktail. I love that you can dress up or down at Oseyo, somehow the ambiance makes room for both without making you feel over/under dressed. read more

We went to Oseyo on a Thursday night for their all night HH! We didn't make a reservation so we had to sit at the bar - pretty spacious / beautiful bar set up! The whole vibe inside is a little darker and very modern! We got the gun mando (fried dumplings) AMAZING! Devoured so quick we didn't get a pic of the appetizers :/ but also got the tong Dak (Korean fried chicken) and also Dwaeji Kalbi (sticky pork ribs) - ALL DELICIOUS! We recommend them all. We also shared the Dolsot Bibimbap with bulgogi and it was enough for the both of us! So hearty with rice and veggies and the bulgogi was super flavorful too. We loved it all and highly recommend. A bit on the pricier side for Korean food - Def more of a date night type of place! Also got the mango margarita- delicious and would totally get again. read more
I came here with a group of friends so was able to sample a lot of food. The inside is sooo cute, love the atmosphere, dark and perfect for a date. I did sit outside and it was a nice atmosphere as well. Our server was helpful and able to talk over the menu and recommend food and drinks. Food came out promptly. Meat quality was really good. Love the banchan, good flavors. Very nice meal, high quality food, bold flavors. read more
Excellent modern Korean food. Definitely not your classic KBBQ or street food, but very tasty and something to enjoy. It's a really nice interior (and they have an outdoor area but we sat inside), covered in wood, plants, and other decorations. Service is really good, as well as the drinks; The food is absolutely delicious and would go back to try something else. It's certainly not "real Korean food" but it is really good fusion and worth giving a try. read more

Food was very good. Staff especially our server Ethan was awesome. He took the best group photos. And remembered all of our requests and needs. Made reservations 3 weeks in advance for a Saturday dinner for 8 for my bday. It's kinda loud. QR CODE for the menu. Lots of cocktails. The Japanese gin cocktail is liquor forward and amazing. Oseyo was such a disappointment. I came here with a party of 7. We had a reservation, but were seated at the long table in the front with another party, which was slightly awkward. Five of us opted to do family style to try out more of the dishes. Jjin Mandu 0/5 - I have no idea how they managed to undercook these dumplings. We each ate ours at the same time and were shocked that every one of us had the same experience: undercooked dumpling wrapper. This is an incredibly rookie mistake. Bossam 3/5 - Not bad, but was advertised as being served with "assorted greens" on the menu so I expected perilla leaves. Ddukbokki 2/5 - Even my American friends could tell something was off here. They said the sauce tastes like it belongs on an Italian pasta dish and I couldn't agree more. Something got lost in translation here. Not authentic and the portion size is SO small. Kalbi 5/5 - This is where the partial redemption begins. The two grilled items we ordered were delicious. This Kalbi is not traditional but it is a beautifully cooked cut of meat. We all agreed this tasted more like American style BBQ. Bulgogi 4/5 - Nothing special but it passes the mark. Slightly expensive for bulgogi. The Banchan were also just ok. The kimchi lacked depth and most of the sides were flavorless. Overall, I would only recommend Oseyo for their "wood grill" menu items. read more
We love any type of Asian food, and were very excited to try this Korean food spot. Reviews were mixed, and I always thought it's a sign that food is great, but service is lacking. We made reservation for 6pm, but probably did not need to as there were plenty of opened tables. Looks like they have back room available for large parties with separate door entrance. Which is nice. Let's start with ambience and decor. Loved everything about it. The chairs were a little odd choice, but everything else was nicely tied together. They have an amazing bar with tons of liquor choices, and it was just a pretty sight to look at. Food on the other hand - meh. Cocktails were ok - we tried mango margarita and tea tonic. Neither was very good. Four appetizers - I would only order KFC Cauliflower again. The rest were bellow mediocre, not even worth mentioning. We ordered bulgogi (chewy ribeye...no flavor) and japchae noodles for main meal. We did not finish either, took it to go and never ate. It was really bland food. Had high hopes for Oseyo, but was ultimately disappointed. Probably will not return. read more
I haven't written a Yelp review in a long time but this restaurant was so bad that I need to. I'm not Korean but Ive had lots of Korean food in my lifetime, so I know what is authentic and what is not. My friend and I arrived to Austin yesterday evening and we were looking for something that would aid with the slight headache and nausea after riding a plane. We wanted soup and this place was relatively close by and seemed to have good reviews. That was our first mistake - we didn't thoroughly check. Our next mistake was not calling for another Lyft after we saw the restaurant. This is definitely not a mom-and-pop shop as it looks extremely elegant and upscaled from the outside. Okay, whatever, we'll spend the money as long as the food is good. We walked into the restaurant and saw no Asians. We knew this was going to be a horrible idea but it was late and we were both hungry - our third mistake. I ordered a soondubu jjigae since it was my go-to. Normally at other Korean restaurants I've been to, we're usually given banchan and rice while waiting for food, but we just got the whole set along with our order. Banchan were pretty bland and lacked flavor - options were spinach, beansprouts, kimchi, cucumber, and some other one I forgot about. Overall, I was not impressed. The soondubu I received was served in a stone bowl and looked right... except I didn't see any large chunks of soft tofu floating around. Very liquidy - more soupy than stewy. Alright. My first bite of the soup (because it definitely was not a stew) wasn't too bad until I realized how salty it was. I drank a lot of water and felt bad sending back the entree so I just asked for more bland banchan since that was much better than the salty soup. There were also no tofu chunks, just little tofu bits the size of the minced pork they put in there. The cherry on top? $22 for the soondubu. I have never seen prices like that. Besides the ambiance of this place, there was nothing upscale about this food at all. Overall, very horrible. Again, it was very salty that I could not finish my food. If you want authentic Korean food, please don't come here. You will not see the price of a mom-and-pop shop, nor will you taste any of that. I am writing this review 12 hours after dining in and my mouth is still dry from how much salt I consumed in my soup. If you want an authentic Korean meal, do NOT come here. Please. Go somewhere else and take a more expensive Uber/Lyft/whatever. Don't be lazy like my friend and me. read more
We've been coming here for years and it always hits the spot for a bit more elevated KBBQ craving. The service is always on point and food comes out quickly! Our go tos are the beef bibimpbap, japchae noodles (has a great assortment of veggies), bulgogi, galbi ribs, and dumplings. We were here last night and the galbi/kalbi ribs were precut! It required much less gnawing and chewing off the bone and there was way more meat than you'd normally get. It was bomb. I didn't get a photo of it but their twist on a michelada was also delicious (they use kimchi for the spice/flavor!). I'd give a bonus star after noticing they not only have a changing table (with diapers!) but a little nook and chair where I nursed my baby Scottie comfortably. Not your typical Yelp review but as a mama of two littles, I greatly appreciate it! read more
Oseyo is one of my son's favorite Korean restaurants. The only thing about this place is that they have limited parking but there is street parking that we found so it's not that bad. The place was really packed and I know why. They food is really good and atmosphere has a lot of energy and very upbeat. The hostess were very friendly and helpful too. Our server was okay. She welcomed us and took care of us but just wasn't that personable. We started off with the Tong Dak which is the Korean fried chicken. Boneless chicken with this Korean sauce. Really good. Excellent. Very moist and tender. We then had the Soondubu Jigae which is seafood soup. Mildly spicy with generous portions of seafood. Clams, muscles, and scallops. Really good. Put some rice in your bowl with this soup and it's really good. Then we had the Japchae, Bibmbap with bulgogi, and the Kalbi short rib. Japchae was really good. bibmbap very good and Kalbi was good but a little too salty. Everything was really good. Really fresh. Excellent dinner. So the service was okay but we did get help with the hostess and other servers so that was fine. The food was excellent. Very fresh and tasty. Very authentic Korean food. Loved the ambiance. Very crowded and busy but lots of energy and very inviting. We really enjoyed Oseyo's. No complaints here. We will be back and can't wait to try other dishes here. Enjoy read more
Thinking -inside- the box is a brilliant thing if you're talking about this kind of lunchbox. The Dosirak at Oseyo is really something worth going out of your way for, especially given how limited the options are in Austin for vegan-friendly Korean food. Beoseot (described as "assorted mushrooms") are the entree, side, and starter you need. The layers of flavor were truly on another level, balancing incredible smokiness, richness, umami, and earthiness. It's evident that there's genuine culinary expertise at play here, shining through in every bite. read more

As a Korean-American, I'm always on the hunt for good Korean food :) The food is decent but the staff here is what makes the restaurant stand out! If you like spice like me, disregard where they say "spicy" on the menu. I literally asked for the spiciest sauce they had on the side and was brought out Serrano peppers in chili oil. The dumplings were unfortunately pretty dry but the kimchi fried rice was pretty good. Add some gochujang or chili oil and it'll hit the spot. Great cocktail menu and overall ambience! read more
Everything was exceptional on my visit tonight from drinks, to food and service. Really just every aspect of our dinner stood out as better than expected. I'm not normally even a guy where cocktails wow me, but the Korea Town drink really was great and very well balanced, and the food was even better. The craziest part was how so many options were accommodating to dietary restrictions. The entire restaurant is dairy-free and many options are gluten-free which is normally impossible to find for Korean food. I got the tuna tostadas and bulgogi dolsat bibimbap, and my partner had the jjajangmyeon, jjin mandu and gun mandu. Everything was seasoned so well, with noticeably optimal levels of flavor and freshness all around. Our waitress was also very personable and had great recommendations throughout service. OMG. Want upscale Korean food? Oseyo has you covered. We had short ribs, bibimbap, mandu (pot stickers) and japchae. All of those dishes were fantastic and had a unique smokey taste. The 4/5 was due to the brine & double fried chicken. Sounds like it would be incredible. Being somewhat of a Korean Fried Chicken connoisseur, I was a bit let down. The chicken wasn't very crispy and had way too much gochugaru (red pepper flakes). read more

I thankfully found this spot through Yelp while planning my trip to Austin, and I am so glad I did!! We ate and drank our way through Austin, and Oseyo was a hands down favorite! The service was amazing, the variety offers something for everyone, and the dishes were absolutely incredible! I cam with a group of 4 with a reservation on the patio which I would highly recommend! Their patio is adorable and so unique. You feel very secluded even though you are on a bustling street, and the social distancing also made me feel super safe! Their menu is a bit intimidating because of the wide variety, but our server was very helpful so that we made the right decisions. Looking back (and this is hard because truly everything was amazing), the Pa Jeon and the Bulgogi left the biggest impression on my taste buds! Their cocktails are also divine, so I would recommend dinner and drinks whenever possible! If you are going to Austin for any amount of time, I would highly recommend you find time to visit Oseyo! read more

I'll start by saying that I really wanted to like this place...When we first arrived for our 830pm reservation, we were brought to the back of the restaurant to wait for our table. The vibe seemed good, and it was pretty cute interior throughout the restaurant so I was initially feeling hopeful. We were seated in a make shift lounge area, and greeted / ordered drinks. My husband ordered their highball mezcal cocktail and it was nasty. Strike 1. We waited to be seated which took 30 minutes (past res time). When we were finally seated we ordered immediately, and the food still took another 30 minutes to come out. Strike 2. Based on the reviews I read prior, I knew it was a risk (very polarized reviews) and so I made sure to only order recommended items from the folks that had given higher reviews (kimchi fried rice, bipimbop and short rib Kalbi). They were sadly all duds. Like MAJOR duds. The worst of all was the short ribs were burnt to a crisp. Like straight-up charcoal Terry Black's would use to BBQ their meat (see photo). We were so shocked that they sent the plate out we made sure to take a picture just for this review. They took it off the bill luckily, but we still ended up paying close to 100 bucks for basically two bowls of rice (specifically kimchi fried rice, traditional bimimbop along with 1 beer, 1 cocktail, and 1 Mocktail). If the food was good, I wouldn't mind paying $200, but it wasn't. It was terrible, and therefore terribly overpriced as well. Hopefully, this review will spare you the time and money to spend at a place that is deserving. read more
Stunning space and surprisingly good Korean food - I remember when Austin didn't really have any authentic Korean food options. I appreciated that the staff adhered to mask and social distancing practices. We were seated outdoors with a cozy heat lamp! The server was incredibly knowledgeable and kind ― she helped me make great cocktail decisions. I was dining with my friend who is pescatarian. The menu is impressively accommodating for many dietary restrictions. Really, I wanted to order everything- I will be coming back with a person who indulges in meat so that I can get pork, hehe. We ordered the mandu (Korean pan-fried dumplings) and the tteokbokki (spelled ddukbbokki on the menu). Both delicious appetizer options, and vegetarian! The entrees are served with traditional banchan (small dishes). My friend wanted fish, and holy mackerel was it good (haha, come on, I had to!) The wild-caught whole mackerel was even better than the menu can possibly make it sound- ASK FOR MORE DIPPING SAUCE. You will want to bathe in it. I am a japchae fiend- japchae is a sweet potato noodle dish with lots of veggies, and I always order it when I can find it on a menu. I liked that they didn't use too much salt or soy, but some people may find this dish a little bland after trying all the dishes with gochujang. The portion was a great size, even enough leftover to take home, which I loved. The atmosphere on the patio was fun, intimate, and of course complete with cacti. I can't wait to come back! Oseyo is a go to Korean spot for me. It does not disappoint. The portions are generous and the flavor is spot on. They also have Korean beer and soju! This spot is a bit more on the pricey side, but the vibe is more upscale. Lastly, the staff is very helpful. Every time I go the service is great. read more

The service was nice, the food was okay. I ordered the japchae, it came out cold. Then to top it off I took home my leftovers only to find a long straight black hair in it the next day. Very disappointing considering I paid 62$ and the overall experience was pretty mid. read more
I went to Oseyo and to be very honest, it didn't disappoint. I came here to experience the old fashioned drink on the menu, to be very honest. However, I'm extremely thankful that Google returned this gem when I went out with a few friends. Let's get into the pros + cons! Pros: - Staff were fully masked up! - Spacious patio in the back - Heaters for the winter (outdoor area) - A lot of parking to the side - Drink program is AMAZE - Decor is personal (I love that) - Smiles + attentive staff - Curated music playlist - KFC (Korean Fried Chicken!!!) - Creative menu + Korean fusion Cons: - Wish they were 24-7, haha - Limited hours during COVID :( Drinks: - Oseyo Old Fashioned (FAV!) - West 32 Reserve Soju - Oki Toki - Paper Crane Food: - Japchae - Pa Jeon - Bulgogi - KFC (FAV!) Summary It was a tremendous experience. I am a stickler for customer service when your boss might not be watching, so it's great that they were very attentive. I could feel several of them smiling through their masks, so that extra effort made me feel welcomed (well-done, staff!). The drinks were SERVED UP! You pay for what you get, and the drinks were definitely great. The old fashioned was a twist they created, and being a snob, I appreciated the cocktail. We tried to do the soju shot at the end, because, you know, "When in Rome." Hahaha. The KFC is by far my favorite. The chicken was juicy, not dry, and the crisp outside! I wish I had more right now, haha. The banchan was really good, too! Flavorful! I'd love to see more variations, but I know it'll change based on the restaurant's artistry! You could tell they took their time with the banchan, which always goes well with the main dish. When you have a place that cares about your overall experience, you take note. The next time you are there, look around. You'll find pieces from the owner's life and heirlooms that give the space an extraordinary touch. Every detail has a purpose + is very intentional. Once you know more of the story behind the inspiration, this place hits different. I'll be back many times before I go back to LA. Absolutely amazing. Went for dinner and dare I say I wish I could come everyday if I could! I was impressed with the quality food, including the drinks. Our waiter was excellent in service. Really impressed by the interiors and overall service! Bravo!! Coming back to try the rest of the menu! We made reservations just in case but wasn't needed for a Thursday evening. read more

definitely check out this modern Korean-American restaurant on the east side! We got the Jjin Mandu (house-made steamed dumplings with pork, beef, & kimchi) & the Bulgogi (thinly sliced marinated ribeye with carrots & onions) and I'd HIGHLY recommend! Oseyo had been on my list for a while to try, so we decided to check them out during Austin Restaurant Week. Pros: -It's a beautiful place. Everything from the decor to the lighting to the landscaping was well thought through to create a great atmosphere. -Drinks we're creative. I had their martini with Japanese gin. Perfectly balanced. Great sake selection too. -Service was wonderful. They were attentive and helpful in explaining their sake and dishes. -We enjoyed the dumplings and the japchae noodles. Both had good flavors. Cons: -Sadly, the rest of our meal was a let down. The bulgogi was just ok, the mapu dubu fine, but the worst was their chicken dish, Ddak Gui. Super bland and dry. The accompanying banchan were all one note. -overpriced for the taste. I really wanted to love this spot but in the end, I'd only recommend some drinks and apps. read more
Oseyo had been on my running list of restaurants to try for a couple years now but finally got around to going this past weekend and I'm so glad I did! First word to describe my experience was flavor everything we tried was packed with delicious Korean flavors from the sweet glaze on the fried chicken to the hint of spice on the steamed dumplings to the wood fire smokiness on the short rib there wasn't one thing that left my taste buds unsatisfied. Besides the food being incredible the restaurant itself is easy on the eyes using natural wood tone elements and greenery throughout along with the attentive service we received. I also love that they have parking which makes it's a breeze to come back here as I'm already dreaming about their fried chicken which they have as a bucket special every Sunday night. read more

Another disappointing overpriced Asian restaurant in Austin. They charge $2 extra for a hot stone bowl with the promise of crispy rice in the bottom, but they put so much oil it just soaks it all in. Very disappointing experience, please save yourself and not go here. Also the kimchi tasted horrible. Weirdly acidic. read more

Was very excited to try Oseyo and Korean cuisine is one of my favorites. Was a bit disappointed though i must say. Upon arrival, the staff wasn't very warm and welcoming as you'd usually expect from a Korean restaurant. Our server was friendly and attentive, but a lot of the other staff seemed cold. The food was tasty, the bulgogi was my favorite amongst the dishes my group got. Definitely a bit overpriced. All in all, most likely wouldn't go back. I'm sure Austin has a bit more " authentic" Korean restaurants. read more

Wow. I was so excited to try this place and to say the least am extremely disappointed. The kimchi stew i ordered was basically inedible because it was so sour (their banchan- kimchi was also so extremely sour which makes me think its been fermenting for way too long or is old). the dumplings were pretty good though. I did call them and their service team was amazing but something was quite wrong with the stew. Also just a note they do charge a 10% takeout tip even when you drive to pick it up! read more

How is parking?
They have dedicated spots right in front and there is use of a small lot next door. We had no trouble on a Saturday night and neither did our friends that we met.
It says there is outdoor seating. Is there a dog friendly patio? Thanks!
I stopped by one day before they opened and the friendly staff came out to chat--they confirmed that the patio IS dog friendly :)
