Two of our good friends took us to this Italian restaurant in Solvang. I would recommend the lasagna (which was also recommended by our waiter), the red wine sangria and definitely save room for their desserts like tiramisu and the other custard flan-like dessert. The pasta dishes pair nicely with either the pink sauce or the garlic wine sauce. They definitely don't skimp on garlic if you order the garlic toast that you can dip with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The food was delicious and the service was excellent - a quaint place to celebrate good times with great friends.

This place is a nice warm cozy Italian restaurant on mission drive right across other popular destinations in Solvang. There's street parking along the restaurant and a parking lot behind the restaurant. We went late on Thursday night so parking wasn't an issue, neither was getting a table. There's nice patio seating, for a romantic vibe while spots inside provide a much quieter, private, and romantic option. To start off, the service was disappointing and did not live up to the initial promise of the place. The place seemed understaff as the server was running across the restaurant. The bread basket tasted like microwaved bread and not fresh. After we requested butter, we got the cubes, about 10 mins later(on asking twice). We ordered the Penne funghi salsiccia, and it was really good, the sausage tasted great and the portions were generous. However again the service was a downside, and while we wanted to order another dish, but the server never even came to check on us and by then we decided to leave anyways. Also although I don't drink, the wine selection seemed extensive.

It was our first night in Solvang and we wanted to have a nice dinner. We decided to have dinner here. The atmosphere was very pretty very welcoming. The restaurant was very charming. Customer service was fantastic. The gentleman sat us down in a very nice area went ahead and took our drink. Orders came back a few moments later with some bread and took our food order since it was our first time we asked him what was his recommendation. He gave us excellent choices we went ahead and went with that. Our food came out fairly quick. Big portions everything looked delicious once we tried everything we loved it very flavorful very delicious. We truly enjoyed ourselves. We even got a dessert. The tiramisu was phenomenal not too sweet , perfect amount of sweetness I would definitely come back here again while in the area Restaurant was clean bathrooms good

We were excited to come here for the solvang restaurant week but was only told when we got there that the deal was only from mondays to thursdays which was very disappointing since it was NOT mentioned anywhere online on their website or any other website that mentioned their restaurant week deals... However, it was convenient for us since we were staying at the hamlet inn right across the street and were craving Italian. We got the penne bolognese and the shrimp linguini (they were kind enough to let us make substitutions from the clams since I'm allergic to them) and they were fine... what's interesting is that my garlic wine wine linguini didn't taste very garlicky at all... the penne bolognese wasn't anything special either... The ambiance was nice with both indoor and outdoor seating with heaters. Would recommend this restaurant if you're ever in solvang but wish they were more upfront about their deals for restaurant week BEFORE we got there so it left a bad taste in my mouth...

My wife and I decided to try Osteria Grappolo on our final night in Solvang. We walked in and got seated right away, within just 5 minutes of waiting on a weekday dinner time. My wife ordered the Risotto Primavera and I ended up going with the Linguine al Pesce. Both items were so delicious! I personally really enjoyed the Linguine al Pesce (clams) because it was right up my alley and I usually order this when it comes it comes to Italian restaurants. They did not disappoint! The place is quite spacious and has a dim lit atmosphere, which I personally like! The servers were attentive and helped us out with any questions we had! If I am ever in town, this will be a spot I will be returning back to!

Osteria Grappolo is a simple place with a couple of nice patios. The staff was very welcoming and very friendly when I stopped in with my sister for lunch. They have olive oil and balsamic on the tables to dip your bread. The bread itself isn't great, just ordinary bread. The food was excellent. My pesto pasta was delicious! My sister loved her meatball panini. I would stop in again.

Pretty solid pasta and one of our favorite spots that we tried in Solvang! Started off with complimentary bread and olive oil/vinegar. Yum!! I got the penne funghi pasta which had sausage and mushroom with a tomato cream sauce. It was so delicious and the portions were pretty big! My friends got the carbonara which honestly tasted like alfredo, and the clam pasta with a white wine sauce which was delicious. They added an automatic 20% gratuity for a party of 6. If you're in Solvang, I would check this spot out!

The line to get in the restaurant was long but moved very quickly. The server was very nice and attentive. We had the carpaccio as our appetizer and it was AMAZING! I had the penne bolognese and my friend had the lasagna. We were both very happy with our choices. We sat outside on a pretty chilly night but the heater kept us warm enough. It was a great dining experience.

If you like a meaty lasagna, you'll love it here. I ordered the lasagna. On my first bite, I noticed something dense, and hard, so I spit it out and saw that it was just a hardened overcooked bottom layer. The staff was great and got right on making a fresh new one. This is a meaty lasagna. It's served in a really tasty sauce on the plate. The pasta was cooked well (the 2nd time). The service was ok and seemed nice. It was a cold night and the door was left open. I asked staff to close the door and they offered a floor heater. The closed-door helped, but they forgot to "turn on" the heater. The ambiance was cute, we got seated in the wine room.

When in Solvang this restaurant was right in the heart of the tourist part of town. Food was served promptly, pasta perfectly al dente, our waiter was simply fantastic! Great suggestions. Seasonal pumpkin ravioli with a walnut cream sauce was a good meal. Someone in our party had scallops and risotto that was perfectly cooked, great sear on the scallops and creamy risotto. We also ordered the sole dish that was a light flakey fish in a lemon caper sauce. Scottish salmon was served with potatoes, veggies and spinach sauté. The portions were plenty. Our Bday celebration was met with a Happy Birthday serenade and panna cotta. We also tried the cannoli which is made in house , 3 small cannoli in an order. We enjoyed sitting outside and enjoying a great meal in Solvang.

Back in solvang for the end of the year. Overcrowded must I say. Coming to this Italian restaurant as my mood was gravitating to. I saw pictures of different pasta that looked good. When it arrived, I felt like it wasn't a lot for $25. I mean, I cook pasta easily at my own home and put marinara on it and you know what?, it taste the same. The other dish ordered was a linguini with clams and calamari. It smelled weird but it tasted okay. Was it amazing and special? Succulent and delicious? Nope. It was okay. The food quality was decent but the taste and texture was okay. It was a decent ambiance inside and the service was not bad. I ordered a salad too that was pretty good. Better than the pasta dish for sure. The bread? They give you the first for free, wanna refill? They charge you. Additionally a $2.00 is added for using a credit card plus tax and gratuity, the overall experience becomes overpriced. I felt like the amount of money spent in total $80 ish is excessive and to be honest, I've had much better. Another note, I don't think the Parmesan cheese was real, it was an emulsified cheese, not truly authentic. Overall, I understand the price hike, plenty of tourists and it is the holiday month and season. I think the experience is worse than it normally would be, but even then, a pasta is easy to make and the taste can be emulated by myself. Things ordered was the penne pasta with marinara and a linguini on menu, pictures are featured for reference.

I'm so happy I didn't listen to the negative reviews and stopped by on December 31st for dinner around 6 pm. Absolutely everything was great: the menu was pretty big, the atmosphere was super cozy, the appetizers came out fast, the waiter was polite, and the food itself was delicious. A great dinner on New Years Eve that makes me want to come back and eat there again.

There are many gourmet cheeses, meats, olive oils, whole bean coffees, wines and more. The woman behind the cheese counter invited us to try the cheese samples. The shop associate told me that the black color comes from licorice powder yet you cannot taste the licorice, only the lemon. There were many things I wanted to buy but had to have control. I love that a mother and daughter team run the shop and I loved hearing the mother speak Danish to an older woman that is one of their regular customers. This place is non-descript yet just off the main park downtown, and an easy walk from most of the major hotels in town, or the central parking lot - plus lots of street parking as well. It seems rather small, with one area for bar seating and small tables, plus a larger dining area "next door" to the bar, but I like the bar ambiance, so it may be challenging on busy tourist days. Luckily, I travel on non-busy days and have always had a good seat. The ambiance is great, with a typical, colorfully decorated pub feel with TVs offering an invitation to relax and have a pint - or two! The menu is varied, and I had planned for what I wanted, but when the server/bartender/boss offered the daily special as an option, I quickly jumped at the chance. The special was a queso dip with house-made chips, and I had to try it! Sadly, I also ordered my usual, the Cobb salad. Sadly, because after the "appetizer" arrived, I quickly realized the full consequences of the saying "your eyes are bigger than your stomach!" The dip and chips were plentiful in both, and for me would have made a great meal on their own. But I was committed and managed to finish the salad. On my previous visit, I had the mac 'n cheese and the Cobb salad, along with a Guinness dark! That was sooo tasty as well! The food at this visit was great, and the service was as well. Sam, who is the owner, bartender, server, and jack-of-all-trades, is always friendly, professional, and efficient, no matter how busy it is, and this visit was the only one outside the kitchen. If you're in the area, give them a try! And leave room for dessert - I have yet to do that, but you can learn from my mistakes!

The spicy wings had great flavor--more on the spicy side than "hot," which honestly made them even better and more enjoyable. The Reuben with onion rings was done right--classic, satisfying, and the onion rings were perfectly cooked with a great crisp. The bread on the sandwich had the perfect crisp as well, which really brought it all together. And the standout was the spicy melt burger. My friend ordered it medium rare, and it came out perfectly medium rare--juicy, flavorful, and cooked exactly as requested (which doesn't always happen, so that's worth noting). Everything was executed really well, and you can tell they take pride in the kitchen. Easy 5 stars. Would definitely come back.

We also did a beer tasting while we were here, and they were VERY generous with the pours into these adorable miniature pilsner glasses. When we were there, they did a tasting at the front of the store with six different wines. I knocked their grade down a star because they really gave us very little information about the wines -- no tasting notes, and you had to ask before they'd tell you the bottle cost. It just seemed like a customer service oversight. In the back of the store, the owner of the Waltzing Bear Winery poured three selections: two Pinots and a petite Syrah. Even considering I had already spent WAY too much money that day, I purchased a Pinot and a petite Syrah because they were so good! So, so good. The Syrah I'm going to save for a fat juicy grilled hamburger, and the Pinot will match perfectly with a nice ravioli. Good prices, too -- about $33-$45 for most of the wines, and they tasted as good or better than some $100 bottles I've had... Anyway, great store, even though some of the other customers were REALLY snooty. They looked at us (admittedly, the bride-to-be was wearing an incredibly tacky faux diamond headdress/veil monstrosity) like we were small children invading the store. One had an L.A. Times folded under his arm and stared down at us through his glasses, and I wanted to be like, "Um, this might not be immediately apparent, but all six of us are or used to be reporters for that paper...so don't look at us like we're dirt." But I didn't.
