First of all, Otto makes thin crust pizza, yay!! My friends living in Cambridge said they are fans of Otto, so of course I had to try. The Yarmouth location is great for post-L.L.Bean shopping, and has plenty of street parking spots. Otto shares the same building with a very cute coffee shop, and a high-end bodega. The manager was super awesome, he saw our confused face and offered us a free slice to try out. We ended up getting 3 more slices of mash potato bacon white sauce (their specialty!), mushroom and bacon (a bit salty, too much bacon, too little mushroom), and their weekly special (tomato sauce spinach - so good!). We grabbed the bar seats at the front, enjoying our pizza in the sun and people watching (j/k, there are not that many people in Yarmouth). I always hope for it to be better than it is. The crust was good, the sauce was ok and the cheese was barely there. The topping was skimpy, also. I am always hoping for a NJ pizza experience, but that is not what you get. There was no string to the cheese, it all kind of sat flatly on top of the pizza. There was no zip to the sauce or that tasty, pizza taste. I'm sorry to say, the pizza wasn't delicious-and for the price, it should be. It should be great. I hate dogging on local restaurants during these times, but this location really needs to up its game. I'm assuming their fresh pies are better, but the slices are inedible. Stale AF! I had to throw the second slice in the trash unfortunately. The kitchen looks unsanitary, and the workers were eating while they were preparing food. I know it's difficult to find good staff during this time, but upper management should keep an eye on this place. I tried twice and was disappointed both times. This review is basically for the Yarmouth location, but I've been to couple of of other Otto's as well. Yarmouth location is an absolute monster. Otto in general is THE best pizza in the state I've seen so far. No-fuss, casual pizzeria, mostly take-out operation, no rings and bells... Just a great dough, quality ingredients, happy faces, never disappointing consistency. I'm lucky that I work 15 minutes drive away, and live 30 minutes away. Very disappointed! After loving this place for years our last order saw a notable quality drop off. The previously exquisite Caesar salad now has "Sysco" croutons. The lettuce, in a time of fresh local abundance also has a "Sysco" limpness. Not sure if it was due to the bummer salad but the pizza tasted off too. Worse, when we contacted Otto's headquarters to inquire there was no reply. Perhaps the chain has changed hands or has a new management directive to up profits? Not impressed. I called in an order with the intention of having it delivered...until I found out it would take an hour and a half! Ridiculous. So I changed it to a pickup, which I was told would be ready in 20 minutes. When I showed up twenty minutes later...no pizza. Employee on the phone changed it to a pickup, but never bothered to tell the guy making the pizzas. Nobody even apologized, nevermind comping me anything. The two people working made it obvious they didn't want to be there and couldn't even manage a smile. It felt like a funeral. As a patriotic American, I spent the July 4th holiday weekend eating pizza. Not American, you say??? That's Italian, you say??? Well, I beg to differ. Surely true Neapolitan pizza is Italian. But the pizza many associate with is the kind that came to New York City in the early 1900's and adapted to suit the tastes of, well...Americans. Now don't you hate reviews from people who live in New York and begin their reviews with, 'I'm from New York and I know pizza'. Well, I was born and brought up in that very city, ate tons of pizza from about age six on and I would suggest that those reviewers mean to say, 'I'm from New York and I (may) know New York style pizza.' If you're not aware of it, you might be surprised at how many styles of pizza there are in this good ole U.S. of A. It makes for interesting reading on the Internet. Or, look for a copy of Ed Levine's very fine book, 'Pizza, A Little Slice of Heaven'. Just don't do it on an empty stomach. Otto's opening in Yarmouth was announced as part of the transformation of Handy Andy's store. Sadly, a neighboring pizza place closed on word of the arrival of Otto's but I, for one was excited about this local expansion of the Otto 'empire'. As opening day of the new Otto's approached, I considered camping out as if I wanted to be first in line for tickets to a sure to be sold out Dion and the Belmonts concert, or perhaps a Springsteen concert, but alas I decided to wait awhile so that any opening kinks could be worked out. So each day I'd pass by, patting my tummy as it rumbled with pizza cravings. But by Friday of this holiday weekend, I could wait no longer. And rather than calling in an order for a large 16 inch sausage and Vidalia onion pie, I opted to go in person, place the order and observe the goings on while I waited. It was very busy but the abundant staff took orders, spun the dough, made the pizzas and even checked virtually each one to insure that customer orders were correct. One little order misstep was corrected with an apology and an offer that simply couldn't refused. Nice job! Anyway, after cocktails and anticipation at home, I heated the pizza stone and placed four of the slices on it till the thin (but not cracker thin) crust crisped and the toppings melded together into perfect harmony. One observation was that while some slices had lovely little pools of sauce on top, others seemed to be a bit lacking. Duly noted though perhaps this is purposely done so that each bite is slightly different. At 19 bucks, this dinner for two with a few slices left over for lunch (who am I kidding, we polished them off before bedtime) was a very fair price. Being a slice kind of guy though, I set my alarm for 11am on Saturday, just as a reminder that slices would be available shortly thereafter. Made my way down there at about noon, surveyed the trays of pies already sliced and ready to go, and not immediately seeing a plain cheese slice, opted for pepperoni. Couple of really good things about Otto's slices...apparently they make a slightly larger pie to cut slices from. Perhaps 17 or 18 inches. And they cut each pie into only six slices so each slice is on the enormous side. So, if this is true, I would hope that they would eventually offer this larger size pie. The pepperoni slice was literally loaded with layers of the spicy discs and served hot on a paper plate. Only thing missing from the old days in NYC was a piece of wax paper between the slice and plate. This was a scrumptious, foldable, belly filling slice, most worthy of the $3.85 price tag. Upon returning home, my partner implored me to schlep back down to get her a slice of Otto's signature pizza, the mashed potato, bacon, green onion. Warm enough for eating upon arrival home, I heard the word 'delicious' uttered at least three times. Ok, it was the Fourth of July, so for dinner I had to make ribs (I guess) and wait until Sunday lunch for another foray into pizza bliss. Tick tock, tick tock. Upon entering Andy's and proceeding to the back of the store where Otto's is located, the young lady behind the cash register greeted me by name, having remembered me from my earlier visits. Nice! And the General Manager, Vinny (perfect) introduced himself and asked for any suggestions or comments while also suggesting the mac and cheese slice which was a special. But I was there for a plain slice, meaning just sauce and cheese. Paid my $3.25 (plain slice is less than one with toppings), and did my best Tony Manero strut down Main Street, devouring this totally satisfying slice without getting a morsel of one of the dollops of very fresh tomato sauce on my shirt. Loved it! I think that slices are the way to go for newcomers due to the extensive selection available. Then you can choose your favorites for the whole pie experience. Hi, I'm Mike and I am a pizza snob. Now that we have that out of the way, I was THRILLED to learn that Otto had opened a location in Yarmouth. While seating is less plentiful than the location in Portland and the beer menu is much smaller, the pizza is dead on. Parking is more convenient and I can get in and out in no time flat. I have tried so many different pies on their menu (including my on take on a few of their options) and have yet to be disappointed. I love their red sauce, not too acidic, not too sweet. I actually like to add it to some of their pies. The Mashed Potato/Bacon/Scallion is the "go to" for most people but the Sausage/Broccoli Raab/ Red Pepper Flake is lights out. Thin crust pizza done to perfection. Prices are in line with quality ingredients and a solid product. (read - don't go in expecting to pay for a frozen dough experience) The staff in the Yarmouth store is friendly, prompt, and provided an exceptional level of service. I'd prefer to drive the 20 minutes down to get my pizza here than from almost any pizzeria in the Midcoast region. read more

We've stopped by a handful of times and have loved every experience. We initially started with a slice of their Mashed Potato, Bacon & Scallion pizza. I was blown away that it translates so well into a piece of pizza. A great pizza comes down to the crust and Otto has nailed it. Crispy, flavorful on the outside while still soft and floppy so it's able to be folded and eaten properly. We've tried at least one version of all the proteins and most of the veg options so far. Their meats are very tasty and all the veggies are fresh and cooked perfectly. We've enjoyed the Kalamata Olive, Red Pepper, Garlic & Asiago pizza most of all, but request it with white sauce instead of the red. Add some pepper flakes and a pinch of salt and it's pizza heaven. Service is top notch and fast. I also appreciate how they've started to check each pizza with you to make sure you're happy with the pie before you go. read more

We have now tried Otto's 3 times, each time, a different location& I can say confidently we wont try for a 4th time! I can see that so many people love it& that's great. Here's my thoughts. Thin crust-great....but not crispy, more flimsy. The sauce-Ugh, chunky, but not that the tomatoes are chunky, but the application is dolloped& then tomato water sort of run in btwn the dollops. I don't want to sound mean, this is honest& I appreciate honesty on reviews!! Also, the caesar salad was just yellow romaine inside pieces, the dressing was okay. Man, that's some good pizza! Hubby and I split a pie with chicken, carmelized pears, and fontina cheese. Now, I'm usually a traditionalist when it comes to pizza, and tend to go for basic toppings like pepperoni or loaded veggie, but this just sounded so fancypants, I had to try it. Turns out, the fancy toppings worked perfectly together, and the crust had the most sublime crispness to complement the creaminess of the cheese. We ate in a state of bliss. I LOVE OTTO Pizza. My husband thinks it's just ok and overpriced. I can talk him into it about once every 3 months or so...tonight was one of those times. Yup, we ordered at 6:40 and the estimated ready time was 7:50. And it stayed that way... in prep mode for the next 25 minutes and then he left to pick it up early in hopes it might be a mistake. Came here at 7pm on a Saturday because the yelp reviews looked good. The pizza was okay, not really my style with thin crust but the rest of my family enjoyed it. I'm giving 3 stars because it was expensive for pizza ($100 + tip for 3 pizzas) and the lighting inside was awful. Apparently a breaker was broken so the lights weren't working. We pulled out our phones and checked our trusty Yelp app and saw Otto Pizza so we thought we'd give it a try. My wife called and ordered a onion, half pepperoni and half sausage pizza. We arrived and I went in to get the pizza. The Otto employee asked my name and what I had ordered. I told him my name and said an onion, half pepperoni and half sausage pizza. The order was incorrectly taken and I received everything but the sausage on the pizza. He offered to fix it but we were hungry and just driving through so I took it as is. I liked the crust and the cheese but the sauce was put on the pizza in clumps and not spread over all the pizza. The sauce was tart which over powered the toppings.
