When going to Outback you know what to expect. Great food, service, at a decent price point. They are prompt with delivering the food and always attentive. This is the experience I receive every time I visit. For starters sometimes I go with the standard blooming onion but today decided not to go all out and go for value and saving some coin. The fresh warm bread and creamy butter melted in my mouth. It being Wednesday I went the Walkabout Wednesday for 10.99. This is a deal folks! You get a 6 inch sirloin, fries and either a coke product or even domestic beer if you prefer. Now that is a value my friends. I opted for the salad instead of the fries because I actually crave the salad. Love the way they mix a layer of dressing in with the salad. This technique I believe makes it. I got the house salad but all their salads are great. Then nicely cooked medium rare steak that is seasoned to perfection. Yum! What a disappointment! We were looking for a stop to grab some predictable but good food last night during one of our Holiday runs and thought that Outback would satisfy our cravings for some bacon cheese frees and chicken strips. Not thinking that it would be a huge ask for a weeknight quick bite. Well apparently it was. Extremely poor service, ripped menus, the atmosphere was dismal and the plate of cheese frees, although hot, came out first missing the bacon. Really?? This location needs attention!Recently relocated to the area, ordered pickup on a Tuesday. Was at restaurant at pick up time, 25 minutes later I received my order. 50 minutes for a cold hamburger/fries. The server for outside had no sense of urgency and I repeatedly had to tell her my name to check on order. She chatted with a friend while several cars were waiting for orders. This location sure needs some improvement. Young hostess seemed oblivious even though the restaurant was more than half empty. Our waiter seemed confused and bothered. The main issues were waiting for drinks as I noticed they were just sitting on the bar. Offered to get them myself. Ordered appetizer and entrees, requesting each extra sauce in advance (salad dressing, butter, sugar, cinnamon, shrimp dip, a1, ketchup, etc.). As each item came out, by a different person, fingers and hands all up down and side, all over each dish. Horrible. No one wants nasty, dirty, hands from all employees all over their dishes and into the food. If a drink is empty, just refill it and save the questioning. If someone is still eating, of course they want tea and water refills. Asked for extra sauces and boxes again after not receiving them. Server should be more attentive and listen to initial requests. More than anything, four different people should not have to assist the server and finger dishes and food. Ribeye was fattier than usual but cooked perfectly. Went for Xmas eve dinner. I used to go to Outback every Christmas Eve as a kid and it was packed...today maybe 5 tables/20 people-ish...we had a Party of 6, went at 5pm and arrived a tad early, 450pm sat right down. Then waited until 510 for a waitress to acknowledge us. Brought us water and we ordered all at once. Ordered a bottle of Wine and 2 beers to start (Fosters, their signature beer). Asked for an update on the 2 beers, they don't have fosters (signature beer mind you) and we moved on to 2 drafts instead. The dinner came out hot and accurate in about 20 minutes after ordering. Had to grab my own silverware off an adjacent table. Come to realize at this time, we didn't get the blooming onion(signature app) we ordered with our drinks, waitress gave an excuse, unfortunately it's a cut/batter/fry dish: either she forgot or just terrible kitchen management, you be the judge. Then the food came out, but I was still without the beers we ordered 40 minutes ago...and changed to basically whatever they had and were willing to put in a glass and serve me at this point. Disappointed at this point as this was my childhood of memories and I was trying to share as a new tradition with my wife and her family. I have fond memories of a different Outback, (Greensboro) My grandparents smoking cigarettes in the bar for almost a decade as a kid. Took my wife to this exact Outback on East Blvd on our first solo date, unfortunately this will be my last visit to this location and am now hoping for a tear down of this building and rebuild of apartments to erase all of my memories. This location was ok. I'm use to going to outback and getting wonderful service and food. I have visited this location twice and it's not horrible, however the quality may change time to time. If you are use to a certain meal often you may have to ask for it to be hotter or fixed. Same for drinks at the bar. I had a drink and I told the bartender it was not made correct nor the correct color. She said something to her coworker and they laughed so I just said don't worry about it. When the other bartender came in I asked him to make it for me and it was correct. The other bartender came and asked did he make it better and I said yes. She stated that she took the lazy way whatever that means. We just had the worse service! It took 10 minutes for someone to take our drink order. Then it took 45 minutes to get 2 salmon, one with baked potato & one with a sweet potato. Our server didn't come to check on us or to communicate that the kitchen was slow, behind or that she was a little behind. We asked for a manager who came to the table like what we were saying was not a concern. Like ma'am we understand it is Friday night but this place is empty. My friend didn't even eat her Salmon as it was still raw. The manager said she would try to do something about the bill. Needless to say she took $10 off the bill for a salmon entree that was not eaten. We wanted the salmon from outback so bad that we drove across town! We came here around 10pm on a Friday night. Our server, Bobby, was very attentive and kept bringing us refills of the delicious pumpernickel bread that Outback always provides complimentary during meals. Neither my mom nor I ordered steak- that's blasphemy at a steakhouse, I know! We both ordered the Sweet Chook O' Mine (grilled chicken sandwich) with fries. We agreed it was one of the tastiest chicken sandwiches ever. It was very juicy and was covered with Swiss cheese and bacon. We also each ordered salads - I had the House salad for $2.99 and she ordered the Signature Chopped Salad for $3.99. The reason why I am not giving this place 5 stars is because the luster of Outback has just dwindled over the years - and for valid reasons. This place was pretty dead for a Friday night. I used to visit Outback all the time when I was a kid. The Aussie Cheese fries appetizer used to be HUGE - now it is much smaller and the price has gone up. The same goes for the Chocolate Thunder from Down Under dessert. It used to be a humongous dessert to share. Now it is a lot smaller and is much more expensive. I glanced at the dessert menu and it seemed that most were $6.99 - I know they aren't huge slices of cake either. There are much trendier and better options in Dilworth to go to if you want a nice dinner, so it doesn't surprise me that this place never seems to be that crowded. read more

Tried to eat there at East Blvd location at 8:00 on a Saturday evening ... stood at the host area for over 5 minutes while no one came over, finally a guy that had been sitting in a booth looking at me walks over, apparently he was the host. We ask to be seated 4 of us and be walks us to the bar there's maybe 7 people inside if that and several employees, we get To the bar booth and it's dirty, so he's like let me seat you in another one. The host brings menus over and we sit and wait another 10 minutes and no one comes over, 2-3 employees including him just walk past us Multiple times. Bartender, multiple servers and the hostess walk past after another 5 minutes so we'd been sitting for a while we finally get up and walk out. We walked to Briixx pizza... they had only 2 people working one being the manager plus the kitchen staff and probably 10 people inside, we get seated we get drinks ... we got food and left before we could have even been served a water at Outback. Probably will never order takeout from this location again. We had ordered 2 side salads with extra dressing (an option on the website), a chicken tender platter, and a loaded baked potato... a small and pretty straightforward order. I placed the order online and arrived when I got a text saying it was almost ready. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is for the girl working the takeout section of the restaurant. I could tell she was extremely busy and needed another person back there, but she kept a smile on her face and was pleasant and friendly with everyone. After waiting about 10 minutes in this room, someone came out of the kitchen and handed me my bag. By the time I arrived home, I realized that half of the order was wrong. The "loaded baked potato" was literally just a potato. The bag did not contain any of the toppings, so we essentially paid $5 for a potato. We asked for extra dressing for both salads, and the bag contained no dressing at all. It was also missing the sauce for the chicken tenders. I wish I had checked the bag at the restaurant, however, I was in a rush and assumed they had packed it correctly since we barely made any modifications or additions to an already small order. There is nowhere online to report missing items, so no chance of a refund for the $5 potato. I love Outback, but would rather make the trip to the one in University next time. read more

Yes, my review for Outback has only gotten worse. Being that it is close to my house, offers curb side pickup, and their commercials look so great, with great offers, I have given them a few recent tries. This past visit brought my review to a 1 star rating. After seeing the commercial for the Steak and Lobster special for $14.99 and up I decided to go for it again. I ordered the 5oz. Sirloin and Grilled Lobster and a fully loaded Baked Potato. And, ended up only being about to eat the Baked Potato, which was cooked to perfection. However, the lobster was raw! Completely uncooked!!! And, the steak was one of the worst peices I have ever received. Complete sinu?? Not sure the spelling on that. But, I was unable to even cut the steak due to the veins and fat running though it. So, based on my dispppointment, I made a call to the restaurant to speak with the Manager. I selected the Curb Side Pickup option, gave my name, my order, etc. and was placed on hold as they were going to get the Manager. After 15 minutes on hold I finally hung up and tried to call back with no answer. They had my name, my order, which included my number and still no call back. Very disappointing. I guess the price should tell me what to expect. With that said, I am moving on from Outback. I would rather drive further and pay more to enjoy, and even be able to eat, my dinner. read more

I had a coupon for a buy one get one free entree where your free entree had to be under $10. I thought that would be pretty limiting but it turns out there are a few entrees under $10 (sandwiches, burgers, small steaks) We started with the chicken quesadilla appetizer minus mushrooms (gross). It was a good amount of food but nothing spectacular and that may have been because the mushrooms are the spectacular part of the dish. Oh well. I got a wood grilled small steak with fries and a salad while my boyfriend got the Steak Diablo. My steak was good, his came with a spicy sauce that he could take or leave. Wait time on a Friday was really good. Unfortunately that's about all that's been good. Family of 6, my wife being a vegetarian, we're used to being a complex order. 20 minutes after our reservation time we were seated by pleasant staff and our waitress got our drinks promptly. Waited over 10 minutes for refills and no bread came out. When it did, it was 1 small loaf for 6 people. Then another 8+ for refills and 2nd bread. Hopefully the food is worth it. 45 minutes later.... Shrimp was room temperature, all steaks were rare, ordered medium rare. They tried to reheat the steak, which if you cut it open, loses a lot. Jamie, the manager on duty had them cook new ones which came out perfect. Aioli for each was 'broken' before it got to the table. Vegetarian taco was woefully light on toppings. The Pico di Gallo was weak. They did include avocado, but that's ALL she could taste. My fish taco had very good flavor, but the slaw was tasteless and the same issue with my Pico di Gallo. Found hair in a shrimp skewer... They replaced it of course. They did get the girls cheesecake as an apology. That's appreciated. My son opted for the chocolate milk shake which he found to be the best he's had (it's the only kind he gets) Rough day for Outback, clearly. Management is the only thing that will bring us back. We came here after a long day with very big appetites. The fiancé sat down at the bar immediately and I ran to the facilities. I say that to say this: I came back and the bartender proceeded to ignore us for the next 15 minutes. Actively! Like, looking alllll the way around us while serving other patrons. Apparently, he said hi to the fiancé while I was gone, but didn't do or say anything after that. Really? We don't even have a water glass in front of us at the very least and we're sitting at the bar. This doesn't look weird to you? Fine. Whatever. Another woman comes out of the back to help and about 5 seconds after that, the bartender comes over to introduce himself to me and asks us if we want some water. Seriously? Whatever. Better late than never, I guess. She comes over right after him and automatically prepares water for us because she sees we don't have any. We place our orders and wait. They have these little food trays that go on the side of the bar to make it easier for you to get to your food. Two of them sat next to us dirty the entire time. But the bartender found new, clean ones and gave them to these customers he couldn't wait to help as soon as they came in. Nothing makes me more annoyed than being ignored and seeing new patrons get super service. What the hell, dude? Is it me? I just got here! What could I possibly have done to you? Anyway, I chalked up the service to an off night because I usually have a relatively decent experience here and just made a note not to sit at the bar anymore. Then I got my food. The sirloin looked fine, tasted meh. The asparagus? It was burnt as hell. I seriously wondered how you could plate that and bring it to someone. When the lady from the back came out to check on us, I asked for some new vegetables. When she brought them back out, she said they were already making new ones for me before she got back there.
