My husband and I came here to celebrate our anniversary last night. Cons: Portions are very small. Prices are high for what you get. Service was slow. Although there were a lot of drink choices there weren't a lot of different alcohol options. Meaning no cocktails with vodka or rum. Pros: Ambiance outside was nice. Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. Good amount of different food options. Overall it was a good experience but it wasn't a great experience. I don't mind paying a high dollar for food or drinks if it's warranted but the two meals my husband and I ordered were extremely small. read more

All I can really say is THANK YOU. Thank you for being a genuine, family oriented, classic restaurant. We procrastinated on dinner plans and it was getting later and later. We were going to just settle for wings & pizza at our local bar. Someone had the bright idea of taking us to Owens Bistro. They were technically already closing but they decided to serve us anyways. That right off the bat was awesome. We were so excited to find a nice place to dine so late. Walking in already felt like home. The interior was decorated so simple but the chairs and tables were beautiful. A small dining area but that just shows that you guys want to give the best service to all of your customers! The food was beyond anything expected. The owners obviously have so much restaurant experience. Wine glasses acted as a tool to really let the wine breathe. We all ended with food comas. Wow the food is pretty amazing here. The rib eye was melt in the mouth good. Even the grilled onion on top was delightful! Their Brussels sprouts was one of the better ones that I have tasted and I order a lot of Brussel sprouts wherever I go. Shrimp was fresh, plump, and cooked just right. They must watch temperature closely as it was just cooked just right and not over cooked like many places do. I can't believe the quality of food is this good. I'm sure to be back! atmosphere is relaxing and beautiful. They have live music here on Friday night out on the patio where you can request music. I am so happy to have found this hidden gem. Been wanting to try this gem tucked in the heart of Chino. We went for Mother's Day and also to celebrate my birthday. This is a small restaurant with a nice bar. Food was okay. We got a variety of dishes from steak to chicken and sides such as the Brussels sprouts. I think the best thing we had were the Brussels sprouts. I wish they made Mother's Day more special. There was no added special touch so that was kind of disappointing. Our server was great. I probably would never go back. read more

I went here for my anniversary and it was perfect. I had the steak and had some wine recommended by the owner. I don't drink wine but it tasted amazing. We also had the charcuterie board with olives. The staff was friendly, the drinks were good, really cool vibe, but when I order a filet mignon for $37 with no sides, I expect zero fat....half of my steak was fat and thrown away.....the sides and appetizer were really good. This spot crushes it every time we dine. The juxtaposition of a classy bistro in a dirty Chino alleyway almost makes me feel like a Bruce Wayne leaving the theater when we walk through, without the Joker taking my parents of course. ​First and last time at Owen's Bistro. We had dinner here on New Year's Eve. The service was horrible, the food was just okay and price, well it just wasn't worth it. Another issue was the fact that they wouldn't open the door or bar area before they were ready to sit us down. It's not like they didn't have the room to serve drinks in the waiting area, it was New Year's Eve! So, the night started on the wrong foot. We sat down, and we didn't get a drink menu or speak to the server for at least 10 minutes, then it took another 5 minutes for the only server take our order. It just wasn't a friendly atmosphere. ​I should've ​read more reviews on​ Yelp before eating here​ because we were never offered any refills on our cocktails or drinks. The main course: The filet mignon was served rare, which I'm okay with, but like most steakhouses​, the server will at least come back to your table or will wait until you cut into your steak to ensure it's cooked to your likings. Not this place; no options or service here. My wife and her friend do not eat cold blue steaks. So, we had to stop on the way home to grab food for the ladies. Real bummer after you fork out a few hundred on dinner! So, if you want to spend $75 bucks per head, no customer service and have no options with your food, this is your place read more

An expensive mistake. Yelp reviews usually don't let me down when I'm looking for a new venue, but this time they did. It's really hard to find good fine dining places in the IE that aren't franchises like Fleming's or Paul Martin. Usually we have to go all the way to LA or OC and it looks like we're going to have to continue doing so in order for it to be worth the money spent. The ambiance and decor inside is very nice, and it's called a bistro correctly because the venue is pretty small. The bar itself only seats about 6 people and you have to walk through to pretty much the middle of the restaurant to get to the host area. The service was average. We barely saw our assigned waitress. We were served water by someone else and sat there waiting for her for a while. When we first saw her we already knew everything we wanted to order, but we didn't get to tell her because when she came up she saw us looking at the Tomahawk steak the table next us was eating, said "Well I guess I don't need to tell you the specials" and walked away. I could understand if the restaurant was busy, but there were only six other parties there besides us, and three of them had either already been served their entrees, or were just sitting around chatting because they were completely done; and there were two other waiters besides ours. The only other time we saw her was when we placed our main order and we were taken care of by other people the rest of the evening, including paying the bill. When it's time to pay the bill it's super awkward because they stand there watching you to wait for you to fill out the tip and take the bill from you. My fiance said he could barely do the math in his head because the guy was standing there watching him the whole time. The food was the biggest let down. The menu was very limited, which was not a problem. The garlic cheese bread that we started with tasted bitter, I think they just cut up fresh garlic and put it on top without roasting it or anything. There were four different entree options: beef, lamb, sea bass, and lobster, and each had the same sides and the same sauce. I've never been to any place, especially fine dining, where four different proteins were accompanied by the same sauce and sides, not even at a place like Applebee's or Chili's. Even so, we still went with it and ordered the sea bass and filet, as well as truffle risotto and scallops as add ons. My fiance said that his sea bass tasted like a fish stick, and his scallops were undercooked. I ordered my filet medium rare, and it was cooked "properly?," but it tasted dry. I don't know how it happened, but it was pink in the middle and super dry at the same time. I couldn't even finish the risotto, it was overcooked like a huge batch was made earlier in the day and not to order, and it tasted tangy and pungent at first, but I just figured that was from the truffles or maybe the type of parmesan the restaurant was using. Before I got halfway through it I had to stop eating it though because whatever was in it was making my whole mouth tingle, and my mouth was still tingling by the time I went to bed. We both had the same sides: carrots, green beans, and potatoes. There were no options to substitute sides, which was disappointing because I don't like green beans. Either way, all of the veggies and potatoes were over salted. Yes, we could have complained, or sent the food back, but we didn't know when we were going to see our waitress again, and with everything that had gone wrong it seemed very unlikely that any improvements would, or could, be made. I'm glad that there are a lot of people who have been here and enjoy it, but I've had way better for the same price elsewhere. This establishment, to me, seems like some nice looking place with over priced food to make people feel like they're getting legitimate fine dining by paying the price without getting the full experience. read more

The Master Fat was incredible as well. We both got the chop and it was cooked to perfection. Literally melting in our mouths. We didn't stay for dessert because we were committed to Milky Buns over in Spectrum but we will be back to try that as well! The ambiance and decor is perfect. If you're looking for a "chefs table" type of experience this is it, at least in my mind. Especially if you can want that feel without the huge price. This place is amazing. You can feel the passion, love, and care put into making your experience feel special. You may have seen "best food in the inland empire", and its absolutely true! I'm no critic, but I can say hands down this is a place to eat, drink, and enjoy good company. The bar offers delicious cocktails, the wine recommendations are fantastic, and the food is incredible no matter what you get. You can also ask for the chef to make you something special, his choice or yours. Its so nice to have a place like this, where you can make a regular habit of splurging on a night out. Goood morning!! Another little gem for you!! Owen's Bistro! You really wouldn't think you'd find beautifully plated and wonderfully crafted American & Italian food in the heart of nowhere Chino. Perhaps, that's what really makes this place a diamond! Our dining experience started with 3 course prix fixe ... well priced at ~$25. What more can I say about their ever so light & creamy cauliflower (yes, cauliflower!) soup except that inhaling the scent gives you a wonderful anticipation of the taste ahead -- and delivers with bright hints of cauliflower flavor. Or .. perhaps I could go on about their uniquely crafted suspended salad with chopped romaine lettuce balanced by a light crispy wafer? Did I mention their Pecorino cheese (made from ewe's milk) gives it a nice sharp palate teaser and their light tang dressing a perfect complement? Oh yes, it was enjoyable! I couldn't stop without delving into the main entrees. +Salmon on the a large rock glazed with bacon sauce and hugged by a bed of earthy greens. The large (but well sliced) salmon sits a top the rock to keep a nice crispiness (and an interesting conversation piece!). The bacon sauce was a little over done but perhaps that a matter of preference-- I could do w/o the saltiness and sharp flavor of the bacon -- I felt it interfered and took away the the central flavor which was the salmon. However, it was nonetheless, enjoyable. The fresh rustic potatoes were great additions to the salmon -- it grounded the exotic flavors in this entree. Perhaps, it could've been done with a little less greasing - and as a topper instead of tossed in the greens (but hey.. surprises are nice). +Pork shoulder was my crowd pleaser of the meal. I can almost picture my fork gathering away a piece of that delicious meat -- not too salty and didn't err on the bland - just perfect. Chef used a liquidized pepperoni sauce.. which I never knew existed but it was THE perfect sauce for wonderful chunks of meat. =0) The bed of cooked spinach and panzanella salad were nice touches that didn't detract the entree -- but didn't exactly enhance it either. ... meal ends with dessert cheesecake + greek yogurt w/ pistachios in honey and sauteed peaches. I think I liked the cheesecake better as it was soft, fluffy and lightly sweetened (who could not love??) .. the other .. was a little too "easy to make" .. though it was good and artfully plated - eating it made me think that this was something I could do at home. --- the little details were nice too -- like the constantly refilled cool cucumber water and the lightly crispy and buttered french bread (starter). Menu is seasonal -- which makes this little bistro, a special one. It's inviting, cozy and just the right place to take a date or intimate family gathering w/o breaking the bank (it's even cheaper than DineLA w/ better food and sizable portions!)... it truly lives up to it's "bistro" namesake (a French word for small cafe that's well priced with a simple menu). au revior! :) - it is an Italian / Am restaurant after all. =0 ) PST... Let me tell you what is good here. Everything. All of it is good. The best part about Owen's Bistro is you come in, and you honestly don't have to look at yelp reviews. Just order what you want to order, and you WILL NOT be disappointed. I have been here twice now. The patio area is an absolute treat in the Inland Empire. This is definitely my go-to "fancy" dining spot from here one out. The hostess/ owner/ waitress (forgive me I am terrible with names) has always been wonderful with conversation and is very knowledgeable with wine. I've always brought a bottle to be corked, and it's always fun to wine chat with her. She'll usually decant something for us, which is a treat, and rarely offered. If you are looking for recommendations, you came to the right place. My wife and I had the brussel sprouts the first time we came here. My god their the best brussel sprouts I have ever had. I cannot come here without ordering these. The master fat appetizer also looks amazing, as does the garlic cheese bread. For entrees- really you can't go wrong here. Scallops are amazing, campfire salmon was amazing, my wife absolutely loved the cajun pork dish (forgive me if the name is incorrect). Nothing has blown me away in dessert land- probably the most room for improvement here, but its always good. This is truly a "treat yo self" type of place. My girlfriend and I decided to stay local to celebrate our anniversary. Owen's Bistro really tries hard to be an upscale fine dining restaurant but the quality and taste of the food does not match the price. I don't mind paying a premium for good food but this restaurant misses the mark for service and food. My bill came out to $90 for 1 appetizer and 2 entrees. My girlfriend got their salmon plate. It was uninspired where they cooked a Salmon on a hot rock surrounded by spring mix you would find at a grocery store. She felt the salmon was over seasoned. I got the Lobster Risotto. It was extremely bland and lukewarm. I would save your money and avoid this place at all costs. Don't believe the high rating for this place. Nothing worse than that feeling of regret after a crappy meal. read more
