All time favorite restaurant ever, period. I love this place. The food is wonderful and constantly changing. The quality is outstanding and the service exceptional. As many have said the hanging salad is great and the "camping trip" with the fish cooked on the stone is super cool. Everything I have had from here is great. The wine list while small is select and top notch. I cannot say enough about this place, I drive 70 plus miles to go here for the $29 pre-fixe and it is worth every penny. read more

The food was excellet - as always, but I was disappointed that the request I had made at the time I made the reservation was not adhered to. I asked to be seated away from the live music because my guest does not appreciate music during dinner. I had also mentioned that we were celebrating her 70th birthday and no special attention was made as in past experiences. Unfortunately, we were seated closest to the musician and directly under the speaker. It made for a very long evening of trying to hear each other during our conversation. read more

Owen's Bistro was a wonderful restaurant. The staff was so willing to ensure our dinner was pleasurable. The food was outstanding. My husband loves whiskey sours and the bartender last night made superb whiskey sours. If you are looking for quality food without the chain restaurant feel Owen's Bistro is the restaurant for you. Lovely experience from the service to the food. I ordered April's pre fixed menu and an order of Brussels sprouts and everything was delectable. Started with the brussels sprouts, that were recommended by the patrons dinning at the following table, and they were great tasting. Next dish was a carrot soup that was simple yet delicious. The main course was a rack of lamb that was cooked perfectly with impecable seasoning accompanied by heirloom potatoes and pees. For dessert I was presented with two mixed berry skewers and banana pieces on a plate of melted chocolate for dipping. The wine was also very good. I had a Malbec and a Cabernet. If you like scotch they also have a few good ones including Macallen and Balvenie. read more

Chef James and Denise are our go to people when we want to experience fine dinning in the local area. Chef James is always creative and his use of seasonal staples and his imagination are extensive, he never fails to delight. Denise is always sociable and makes you feel welcome we have had the pleasure of celebrating many special occasions here with our family. I highly recommend this establishment. Our family enjoyed a beautifully decorated table for a birthday celebration wonderful music and of course delicious food starting with asparagus soup, cheese bread, wine, wine and more wine! There was an array of meats, filets, rib eyes and the best was the venison chops. Also really enjoyed a drink called strawberry fields. WOW! I don't think there are enough words in the English language to express what a jewel Owen's Bistro is. It was the reviewers on Yelp that helped me find this place. We attended wine night on April 25th; as we arrived we were greeted by Denise, who will instantly brighten your day, as she did ours. The evening started with wine on the patio with the other guests, it is such a lively casual atmosphere. Some of the other guests greeted us and made us feel connected right away. As dinner began inside, the Chef introduced each course, giving us his thought about why he wanted to make the dish and what it consisted of. You could tell the pride that he took in every beautiful bite. It was Art on a plate, not lacking of color or flavor. As the evening continued, we chatted and laughed with people we were sitting next to and can't wait to see them again when we attend future events. To top off the evening, desert consisted of what the chef called a combination of Baked Alaska and Smores...all I know is that this was unlike anything I have ever tasted and it was wonderful! This is really the only fine restaurant in Chino Valley I have found (unless you count Pizzaiola which I find to be something of a joke). Their Thursday/Wednesday night prix fixe is an excellent value -- appetizer, entree, and desert for $22.50. The location is very quaint in downtown Chino. The mushroom tortalecci (?) was good, and the pork tenderloin was also tasty The spinach salad was spectacular. Will definitely go back, frequently. read more

From the outside, Owen's Bistro looks like a large restaurant, but once you get inside, it's clear that it's a small, cozy restaurant with a lot of character. Denise greeted us with her genuinely friendly personality. The servers were knowledgeable about the food and wine and were willing to give recommendations. Augustus was fantastic! The prix fixe menu had plenty to choose from. Everything sounded really good on paper. When our order arrived, It was beautifully presented and tasted better than could have been imagined. The fried Brussel sprouts are incredible! We ordered the cheese platter for dessert, but the tables around us were served beautiful desserts. They all ate them with smiles on there faces. While we were there, a solo guitarist provided great ambiance. All in all, a terrific experience and a pleasant surprise! We'll be coming back! read more

Such a quaint rustic family owned restaurant. The owners were cooking and serving tables because we went on a slow night, Thursday. The weekends are busy, so says the owner ... glad we went when it was not busy. The wine recommendation was amazing. The Pork Belly and Lamb Chops were phenomenal! I was happy with EVERYTHING. I was so excited to come again and eat here with my friends but when we arrived the entire place was closed down (even though the sign said "open" and all the lights were on... We called and called and called. The sign was even out and said "Open Tuesday through Sunday, 5:30pm to 10pm"! I hollered through the gates and no one answered. This place was soooooooo good!!!! Came here for dinner for a girl's night out. We ordered the Brussel sprouts and the cheese bread. Both were so good we ordered a second round of each (don't judge!!). I also had the tomato bisque soup, filet mignon, and coconut cheesecake. Seriously one of the best meals I've had in a LONG time. We are going back at the end of the month for another night out!! I wish their menu didn't always change as I would love the Brussel sprouts and bread again BUT I am excited for the beef Wellington they are supposed to have when I'm there!! I came here for my birthday and had the best meal I have had in a while. They have a Pri Fixe 3 course Menu for 26.95 that is most delicious. I got the deep fried brussell sprouts with a Parmesan cream (it sounds weird but is so yummy) my main course was a pepper crusted steak that was cooked to perfection and served with a blue cheese cream sauce. Dessert was a peanut butter chocolate mousse. I love this place as it is family owned and run, the Hostess is married to the Chef. I will come back soon. read more

Welcome to the only reason I ever go to Chino. Owen's Bistro is a hidden gem in a city not really known for good cuisine. Both my wife and I are huge fans of this establishment. We've dined here at least a half a dozen times already and Owen's has yet to disappoint. This little restaurant is run by a husband and wife team. She runs the front end and he runs the kitchen. They run a pretty lean operation which in turn allows us to dine on 5 star cuisine at half the price! Don't confuse this with crappy service as Denise is very pleasant and attentive. The meals are prix fixed 3 course meals that allow a few selections per course as well as add-ons that cost a little extra. The wife and I often make a mistake of adding on side items since we love the food, but really the 3 course meals are portioned perfectly and ordering extra always puts us over the top. All the food is seasonal and selected daily by the chef and everything is made from scratch as should be expected of a high-end establishment. Tuesday's are past a nights, which are offered at a discounted price, but not discounted quality. The pastas are handmade is frankly much better than any other pasta we've had in the area and even better than pastas we've had in restaurants in Boston's North End and other Italian communities. The gnocchi is especially good. They don't always offer it, but it is the best that I've ever had. It's just one of those items that you are always in search of a good version of, but rarely find it. Well, I've found mine here at Owen's. The food is refined, yet the presentations are usually reserved. The food exhibits an excellent knowledge of flavor profiles and often contains flavorful subtleties that excites the palette. There may have been one or two dishes that have kind of missed their mark, but no matter what we order, the results never cease to amaze us. At the end of the night, we are always happy campers after dining at Owen's. They have limited seating, with only half a dozen tables indoors and a small courtyard of tables outdoors, so I always make sure to call in a reservation in advance. If Owen's were any other place than Chino, they'd be booked up weeks in advance, but as it is, reservations should be pretty easy to make. read more

Disappointed. Went there on Valentines day and after 4 hours of terrible service I was hoping for a much better experience for my first time there. The food looked good but since it was mostly cold and one food server for the entire restaurant was missing in action I could not enjoy this expensive dinner. To make matters worse was when the food server did show up to tell me that the amount of tip I graciously left her was slightly less than the usual 18 percent. She charged my card the difference. Went here with my lady for their 9 p.m. late supper and let me say, their food and service are outstanding!! Denise and Jim (Owners) are so very welcoming and engaging. I've learned that Chino has a few hidden culinary gems with Owens Bistro being the only one in the genre of fine dining. This establishment trumps all of the high end, well established restaurants that I've been to and I've been to plenty. It just blows me away that this establishment is in Chino...CHINO!!!!! We made reservations for 7:00 pm, but arrived about 6:50. Although the dining room was only about 25% full, we were told that they needed to "set up" our table and we would be seated at 7:00, which turned into about 7:03. The ambiance was nice, although I felt the hostess (owner) was a little condescending. I'd read that dress was 'casual', but we felt that maybe our jeans and sweaters weren't good enough. Anyway, food was good, my Napolitano pizza was very tasty, and more than I could finish. My husband ordered the "camping trip", which is salmon served on a hot rock, with salad. He enjoyed it. We are not drinkers, but after tipping the server and musician, dinner for two was $65. I'd consider this a "special occasion" restaurant. read more
