I didn't have super high expectations coming in, and the food wasn't too bad. But I'd say, relative to Panda Express...50%. Everything is 50% saltier, 50% sweeter, 50% more oily. And probably double the price. There were no dishes we ordered that were out of this world. The sea bass dish, at $30, was high quality but didn't feel worth $30. The other dishes were also expensive but pretty meh. The biggest disappointment was the crab rangoons, which had too much crab and not enough cream cheese. I do give them props for having a great online ordering system. It was easy and seamless and the food was ready on-time. The last time I went to a PF Chang was over a decade ago, in my 20s. I'll look forward to going again in my 40s. I just think they're caught in the middle - too classy to compete with Panda and not upscale enough to compete with Tao or think your upscale fusion restaurant. This chain is a go-to restaurant for gluten-free family dining for us. We shared the lettuce wraps, tasty and crowd pleasing, this is always a solid choice and it's a signature dish for the chain. I usually get the shrimp with lobster sauce but today I had the Mongolian beef and was delighted with it. Mom had her favorite pad Thai. David ordered Singapore noodles. Everything was delicious. We even had dessert -- chocolate soufflé for me. I love that our server warned against the vanilla ice cream-- it is not gluten-free. The overall experience is thoughtful and consistent-- the decor is seamlessly carried through the restaurant and this adds to the pleasantness. Yes, I mean the restrooms. Had the most wonderful server named Julia. She is a winner. Gets a 10+ and 4 star rating. The restaurant is also very appealing. New menu we really liked with a price starting at 16.99. Easy access from the road, lots of insight parking, beautiful setting with a man made pond close to the building. My first impression was not positive, I did not receive a greeting from the hostess when I entered and reception was not very warm. I've gotten use to that since I am often alone when I eat out but I still don't think that should change how patrons are received. I almost walked out, glad I didn't. Waitress was awesome. Liz was super friendly and really made me feel welcomed. Throughout my visit she was attentive and very professional. She made me feel valued as a customer. I haven't been here in over a decade. The first time, I couldn't bear to eat because, unbeknownst to me, I was pregnant. Ever since, I've wanted to come back to give it a real try, but the opportunity never quite presented. Until today. My husband knew I regretted not having a full experience here so he arranged for us to have lunch. First things first, the service was excellent. Our server was really nice and friendly. I wish I'd noted her name; she mentioned her sons also work there with her. She was wonderful and deserves a shout out! Now the food! We got the northern style ribs, crab wontons, Mongolian beef with fried rice, sesame chicken with steamed white rice, beef and broccoli with steamed white rice, and a kid's chicken meal (sweet & sour chicken, basically). All of our entrees were lunch orders because we didn't want to overdo it. Our server gifted us a chocolate soufflé after discovering we were here for a 'redo' of our original visit. All of the food tasted fantastic and despite that we were all very full, we left with a good amount of leftovers. I do feel the fried rice was even better after reheating (yes, I am digging into the leftovers this evening lol). If I could do it all over, I think the only thing I'd do differently is get an order of their lo mein to try. I think overall this was a great value for delicious food and top notch service. I had Kung Pow Spicy Chicken... it was surprisingly bland. Typically I avoid eating the red peppers but there was no spice at all so I ate the red peppers which gave it the spice I expected to have in the chicken. Virgilio insists on having rice and not white rice so he picked out a dish that came with fried rice, I think it was braized beef. It tasted to me like safron, something sweetish in flavor with a mild kick at the end. I didn't care for it but he seemed to like it. I had a coconut majito and he had another majito. He ordered a second, I did not, the waiter brought the one I had ordered and said oops... Virgilio always says he will keep whatever the oops was, in this case a majito he had just told me he didn't like. If the waiter were any good at all he would have scooped it up and gone and gotten the right thing. Appatizer was chicken letuce wrap which was tasty. Including tip it was a bit over $100, I asked Virgilio if it was worth it... he said no. I completely agree, heck we could have dined at Panda Express and the food would have been just as tasty. Granted the atmospher wouldn't be the same but we would have saved $80 to spend on drinks elsewhere. I don't know what happened to PF Chang's but it's definitely not the same as it used to be. The menu has changed quite a lot over the years and the food has changed too! I've tried multiple locations but it's still not as good as it used to be. The dishes were very salty or too sweet. The rice is so dry! I always order the chicken lettuce wraps which you can't go wrong with. The waiters and waitresses were really friendly here. I wouldn't recommend the cocktails though. PF Changs is one of my favorite dine in Asian restaurants. It's the first place I'd ever had lettuce wraps and used chopsticks that weren't wooden. It will always be a favorite of mine. Our latest trip was just ok. The waiter was training a new guy, and understandably, it was going to take them some extra time to do things. I was dining with my mom who is diabetic, so to try and save her some money and help with her sugar, I offered to split a lunch bowl with her. We opted for the sweet and sour chicken (she doesn't try new stuff often and she was familiar with this) and also got some potstickers. The waiter was confused by us splitting a smaller portion rather than a dinner sized, but we assured him that it would be enough since she wouldn't be eating much of the rice. I was a little disappointed in what we got. Not the size, mind you, it was a good proof or us. But the vegetables didn't even seem cooked and the chicken was in such big chunks that it required a knife, which of course isn't provided so we just struggled through with our forks. Hmm. I have eaten at this location of PF Chang's many times since my last review, so it was definitely time for an update. My dad and I went for lunch today; however, it unfortunately wasn't the best meal we ever had. Can I start out by saying that the restaurant was FREEZING? Now, it is January in Chicago, but we were sitting nowhere near the door and I was so cold that I couldn't take off my down coat all throughout the meal. Dad is usually not cold but said he too was uncomfortable. Crank up the heat! Ahem. We started with crab rangoon, and it is nice that you can choose 4 or 6. The fried pouches come in a pool of sweet chile sauce; they tasted slightly fishy but we still had no trouble finishing them off. For an entree I ordered the crispy honey chicken, which is tasty but it's unfortunate that it doesn't have any kind of vegetables to accompany it; just comes on a bed of crisp rice noodles. Also, the kitchen should learn that foods meant to be eaten with chopsticks are supposed to be bite sized; some of my pieces of chicken were 3 and 4 bites big! Way too unwieldy. My dad ordered the pepper steak, which he enjoyed, and it presents as a pretty plateful of colors, but I will point out that we have had some confusion in recent visits when ordering beef dishes here in regards to spice level. Usually he gets Mongolian beef, which isn't listed as spicy, but last time he ordered it, it came out very spicy, so someone apparently messed up. He told the waiter on that occasion and it was remade. So today he ordered the pepper steak and double checked that it would not be spicy, even though it does not have the spicy symbol on the menu; the waiter said, "it's a little spicy"...why is there this discrepancy? Isn't that the point of the spicy symbol? In the case of today, the waiter specified that it not be made spicy, and Dad said it was fine. There were little pieces of pineapple in the dish. I would probably have them leave the pineapple out next time but still good I ordered the salmon and it was cooked perfectly. The "signature" lo mein is a perfect stand in for a university dining hall dish and made me wonder, "who was so desperate to feel famous that they made this and then signed it?" I was very impressed with the updated Covid menu selection. There were still plenty of options to choose from! I suggest making a reservation beforehand to avoid a long wait on the weekends. My husband and I made a reservation for 4:30pm on a Saturday, and it was almost at full capacity regardless of the early dinner time. We had the shrimp tempura roll as an appetizer. It was amazing! I was very impressed! Only critique is that the middle pieces could have had more crunch to them. I ordered the vegetarian lettuce wraps as my meal and was pleased with the temperature, portion, and presentation. My husband had the sweet and sour chicken with brown rice. Went here for lunch and the place was practically empty. After eating at the Chicago location, this place was a let down. Had some of the worst service I've ever had, and the food was mediocre. Our server was not cordial, in fact, he seemed to resent the fact that we were there, or, that he was there. I asked a question about a dish, and he said that he didn't know, and he obviously didn't care enough to find out either. We were not ready to order, and I guess our waiter went on break, because he was gone for a full 45 minutes before he returned to take our order. When our food arrived, it was barely room temperature, and tasteless. I think our food had been sitting for a while before our waiter brought it to our table. Chang's and have had good experiences at other locations, specifically Las Vegas at Planet Hollywood Casino, but we went as a family here the other night and two things stood out: - This place could really use some support for their servers, with people dedicated to water service and refills. On a Friday night when the place is busy, there is very little attention/service since the servers are slammed - The price seems like it has creeped up. Maybe inflation, supply chain, whatever, but the value isn't there any longer - The Crispy Honey Chicken is no longer legit. Very little flavor/taste...used to love this dish but the way it was prepared seemed different and wasn't great. The food and drinks are consistently good. My husband and I split the spicy tuna roll for starters. It was delicious. The spice was present just enough to add flavor without overpowering the roll. For my meal I had the Korean glass noodles which is sweet potato glass noodles, onion, mushrooms, bell peppers, egg, and a sweet spicy sauce. You can have it as is or add beef, chicken, shrimp, or a combination. I went with shrimp. This meal is full of flavor and just a touch of heat. The veggies add a crispness and the egg shrimp and noodles are all perfectly cooked. It is a very satisfying and over all healthy meal. For dessert we went with the Great Wall Of Chocolate.
