My friend and I went to this location after spending a day painting an office space. We were hungry as heck. We asked for ketchup. We were given no ketchup. Let me ask you a question. How are we supposed to eat our fries with no ketchup? Answer: with tears in our (fr)eyes. A P. Terry's location that is take-out only should include ketchup with every order of fries. It's basic human decency. To ask for ketchup means you REALLY REALLY want ketchup with your fries. Honestly, I expected EXTRA KETCHUP, and when I opened the bag to find none I was flabbergasted. P. Terry's is a terrific local burger chain. I love their late hours. It's nice to know you can still eat a tasty meal at 11 pm. This store has lots of indoor seating. It's very clean--staff are often cleaning windows and wiping tables. The staff is beyond friendly--they interact with customers like we live in a small town in the country. Their cheeseburger tastes a little better than average. The cheeseburger at In-N-Out is much tastier. The veggie burger here is one of the best veggie burgers in Austin and comes out fast. It's also one of the cheapest veggie burgers. A lot of people order their lemonade and milkshakes. Maybe I'll try those someday. This P. We drove up to RR to go to IN-N-Out, well too cold and too many people and to many cars to even try to eat here they even had 5 policemen directing traffic, so we then drove to P Terry's on Mopac near Parmer Lane to eat. They were busy but no wait or long lines, yippee ka yah sports fans. This is one of their newer spots, we braved the cold wind and went inside to eat, it nice and clean. Since we had never been here before we studied the menu, it didn't take long because it is very small basically burgers and fries in various forms with some shakes and cookies added. The wife ordered a single burger and fried and I ordered a double burger with fries and we both ordered lemonade for drinks. I thought the burger was very good and the stuff on it was very fresh and get a load of this potato heads I liked the fried, what? The lemon aide wad good as well. The wife thought it was OK. I remembered something of a secret order items like the other new place but did not remember what it was. The service was great! I suggested to the wife we try the peppermint milkshake but she said we did not need it, bummer no shake for me! Yum! I heard they have a good veggie burger and this place is SOOO close to me, I wonder why I didn't make it there sooner! The veggie burger was really delicious (a soft bean patty)...I ordered it without cheese...Their french fries are the real skinny potato ones. They also have a great oatmeal cookie for $1 and they always have an amazing seasonal shake. P. Terry's kind of reminds me of the Austin version of In-N-Out...It's cheap, too! I hate writing bad review but tonight was the most disappointing meal I have had in a very long time. I had not been here in quite a while (probably a few years) but as I remember it P. Terry's was sort af an Austin version of In 'n Out. The cheeseburger in my combo was so small would have made my 2 year old granddaughter laugh! I thought only kid's meals has burgers this small. The "fresh" veggies were almost non existent, and not "fresh" and the burger certainly did not taste good at all. Very rarely do I have the chance to eat some P. Terry's. I like the simplicity of the menu and I also like what they serve (obviously, I'm a fan). This trip was different though. I indulged in their egg burger with sausage and a wheat bun. I'm wondering if it would have tasted better with a regular bun. The sweetness of wheat with the egg and sausage was....interesting. The best thing they serve has got to be the milkshakes. They are just a few notches lower in viscosity than ice cream, very thick and creamy to say the least. Great burgers, especially for the price. Treated a friend to a burger - and STILL came out to a total of $4.50? Amazing! (Now to convince her to pay me back by taking me to Uchi...ha!) With the deluge on mid-range burger joins (mostly chains) in Austin as of late (P. Terry's, Five Guys, Mighty Fine....and Shake Shack is on the way), it's pretty hard to stand out. I dunno, maybe they could give you a neck massage while you wait for your burger? P. Terry's is solid. Like In-N-Out Burger, the menu is small with only a few choices: reg, double, chicken, veggie, one kind of fries, shakes (and breakfast). Our burgers were delicious. Cooked well. Pretty dang good burgers and fries! Service really is quick and they have never messed up any of my orders. I've only been serviced via the drive thru so I can't tell you if it's clean and decorative on the inside. I order the same thing every time I go: hamburger combo with lettuce, tomato, pickles, bacon, and special sauce. My food is always piping hot and tastes fresh. Their shoe string fries are sooo good and well seasoned, never too salty. They definitely give you enough fries for 2 people to share. Make sure you try the milkshakes...My favorite is the root beer but I like the banana milkshake as well. I came in with minimal expectations and was pleasantly surprised by what a contender this is to the incumbent North Austin high-volume burger champ, Mighty Fine. I'd call it a blend of Mighty Fine and In-n-Out: high quality ingredients, basic variety, some unexpected surprised (diced grilled onions, whoo-hoo), and some minor disappointments (iced tea was very watered down). I had a double-double and was impressed - came out very hot, didn't like the fact the meat was on top of the veggies but there's probably a reason for that. Lots of cheesy goodness and juicy meat but not to the point it was messy/greasy (ahem, Five Guys). I don't think most people like MF's fries, though I do, and PT's are similarly polarizing (kinda limp/dark, skins on, mildly salty). The one thing that stood out to me was how inconsistent my experience was with many of the reviews, so I'm guessing consistency in general has been an issue for them. P Terry's, one of Austin's long-standing local burger joints. Opening till midnight is always a plus, especially for students! Let's just say that I would definitely come back for their Chicken burger, even though it's kind of small and costs almost $4. It's easy to overcook chicken in a patty form but the ones here were juicy and tender. The addition of the swiss cheese was a major bonus. It also "tastes healthy", for what it's worth. Their regular beef burger was average, nothing too special. I'm not sure if it's done on purpose but the lettuce and tomato in my burgers were ice cold, causing the bottom bun to be ice cold as well. The temperature difference between the top (hot patties) and the bottom (ice cold veggies) was kind of off-putting. Their fries were definitely below average, meh. Overall, I would put this place above Elevation Burgers but under In-N-Out. The portions are also kind of small too. I've placed a few large pick-up orders (with 24 hours advance notice) for my company, and this location has dropped the ball two out of the past three times. Nothing like walking up, saying "I'm here to pick up my to-go order" and being greeted with a blank stare by the manager. Awesome. Great austin burger joint, the food comes out quick and it's cheap!! This P Terry';s is fairly new and spacious lots of room to sit and it has a sand pit outside for the kiddos!! The food is always hot and fresh and they have their own special sauce much like in and outs but I think it's a little better to be honest. The menu is similar for the in and out fans it's very simple and you can customize. I don't believe there is a hidden menu or atleast i dont know if there is, I just usually get the double burger with cheese and add the jalenpenos and bacon please!!! They have fresh shakes and lemonades for you and giant cookies for dessert!! Can't go wrong with a giant cookie :) for the healthly people swap out the bun for a lettuce wrap!! The fries are the shoe string fries and they come out in a little bag much like mighty fine or I guess mighty fine is much like P Terry's since they have been an austin staple forever. If you really want the P Terry experience go to the one on lamar and barton springs and sit outside on a warm summer day. Not bad, I still prefer Hut's, but I like the fries here better. They are really thin and not greasy at all. I love the veggie burger here and I like to add bacon to it. Is that wrong? I actually prefer the veggie patty to the real thing. Not a bad value for a combo, about the same price as the "clown" down the street but the ingredients here are fresh and you can tell. The shakes are awesome and the cookies are really good to. The atmosphere is really nice here and the kids love the sand pit outside. I guess I was expecting something good, and I was really disappointed by the low quality food. I had the double cheeseburger with bacon. The burger was cold. The cheese was not melted. The bun itself felt like it just came out of a refrigerator. There was a huge piece of lettuce on the burger that was bigger than the entire rest of the contents of the burger combined. My partner had a chicken sandwich with bacon. They left off the bacon and he had to take it back. He didn't seem happy with his meal. The fries tasted like they had been sitting under a warming light for about half an hour. They were rubbery. I observed one of the employees filling up the ice dispenser for the drinks. She had two buckets of ice that were sitting on the floor. She carried one up the ladder and dumped it into the dispenser. She then used the side and bottom of the bucket, which had been in contact with the floor, to push the ice around in the dispenser. She repeated this with the second bucket. I'm a native Californian so of course, I'd love to see In-n-Out but until then - I'm still a Mighty Fine fan. I was so excited to see this being built and opening... and well, I like their fries. Their burger was good, but I'm a regular sized person and their normal hamburger left me hungry for so much more. It was TINY. My poor husband looked at me like I was trying to starve him! The flavor was good, but the burger was tiny - no bueno. I ordered my usual vanilla shake (my go-to at Mighty Fine and In-n-Out!) and I just wasn't impressed... Really wish I could have loved it. We are convinced that the people who run P. Terry's have a time machine. Where else can they get such delicious organic ingredients and turn them around for so cheap? 2 double patty meals and 2 large shakes for less than 20 bucks... I think its almost 30 or more to get an equivalent meal at Mighty Fine. I'm glad P. Terry's has an eat in location up north. Its so much better than taking it home. Be careful when you put a lid on your drink though- there's 3 different kinds of lids and they are not labeled. I always grab the wrong one of course. Such a waste! Okay, so I used to frequent this place. I was addicted to their 'p scary' (for those that don't know, it's a halloween specialty that they make year round. Kind of like a secret menu.) However, lately they don't take pride in what they do. The burger is always falling apart (unlike the first several times I've ordered it), the fries always taste like frozen fries after the air touches them for about 3 minutes. The only thing they've got going for them is a lot of over-hype. Tonight, they go through and forget to charge me for bacon on on the p scary. It's an understandable mistake. However, instead of handling it the right way - the management decided to make sure I got charged that $1.60 instead of taking the loss. Additionally, the manager felt it was appropriate to get defensive (I didn't say much, my mind had already been made up nor was I talking in any derogatory tone), throwing a lot of excuses my way as to why the mistake happened. Then, to add insult to "injury" they decided that it'd be acceptable to offer me a $1 cookie, except it wasn't an offer. The cashier basically shoved it in my face, even after I had said no thanks then wanted to ask if I was certain, I didn't want their crappy little offer. Here's why this is comical. That bacon ran me $1.50 on top of what I had already paid and it costs them $.25-.50 to even process the payment. So, they were willing to take the loss but instead, decided to make me go through the effort of pulling my wallet back out of my pocket (after putting my seatbelt back on), charging me twice (cause I love a having numerous transactions pending) & then not providing me a receipt for both transactions. Here's what really happened. They lost a customer worth an easy $3000/year to them. I do not support companies that provide horrendous customer service and you shouldn't either. EDIT: This very inept manager, whom wanted to make my burger because her staff "didn't know how." (all of whom were on staff and there last time I ordered one) put freakin pickles on the burger and that was THE ONLY ingredient I told them NOT to put on. read more

I don't understand the hype with this place. I have gone a couple times now and I don't think I will find myself returning. The dollar amount is great. It is not an expensive fast food by any means. I find it on the cheaper side of other places. The shakes are pretty good and the burgers aren't terrible but fairly small. I am not a fan of the fries. They are soggy and just not enjoyable. My husband and I have always been fans of P Terry's. Their burgers are delicious. However this review is more for the staff at the Mopac location. I'm 8 months pregnant, and totally forgetful! We went in tonight, and the guy who helped us at the counter (Mike?) was really nice. The whole staff was still up beat despite it being late, and the place was clean and well kept. I left my iPhone 5 at the table, and didn't discover my mistake until almost 2 hours later... I called it twice, and an employee picked up. They had my phone and had kept it safe for me. Thank you thank you thank you!!! I would have freaked out for sooo many reasons had I lost it for good! I don't think I would ever have a reason to stop going into P Terry's to eat, but now they have an even more loyal customer for life! read more

I visited this burger stand at busy lunch time 12:22 pm on 8.27.16. My order was taken quickly by a nice lady. She explained the menu to me as it was my first time visiting the burger stand. I was in line from the time I placed my order until the time I picked up my order less than two minutes. The service was fast the staff was friendly. I will definitely visit again. I have gotten food to-go twice from here now. Both times I got the veggie burger and fries. The first time, I was not very impressed... for me it seemed like the cheese overpowered the burger and not in a good way. The fries were not all that warm and didn't really leave an impression. My boyfriend and I ended up not finishing them, which is UNHEARD of for us. We both thought everything wasn't that great and a little pricey for what we got. We decided to give it another try a few nights ago, and added a strawberry shake. This time I made certain to taste the patty and it was decent. Not bland, not dry, not too mushy. But for one reason or another, it just gets difficult to eat towards the end. Again, might be the cheese for me. The fries were warmer and fresher this time, so we had no issue finishing them. The shake was a good size - the large is pretty seriously large and I would say it's a decent value for the price. So right now it's kind of hit or miss for me. P. Terry's is fine when you want a burger for super cheap, fairly fast and don't want to settle for the Clown or the King. To be honest though, I don't see what all the raving is about. Once I ordered a burger and the lettuce/tomato was so ice cold, the whole bottom of my burger was cooled against the hot patty. I've read other reviews of people complaining about the same thing, so I know I'm not crazy. I went again when I was in a rush to get to work - same problem. Ice cold veggies ruin an a-ok burger. Second, I do NOT like these fries. I've tried P. Terry's (this location specifically) multiple times and have yet to get tasty fries. Super thin, dripping grease, just all around no good. My personally preference is Mighty Fine, but alas, no drive-thru. Due to my own laziness, that means multiple visits to P. Terry when I don't want to drive down to MF and go in to order. However, I think I'm done with temperature deficient burgers and greasy fries. read more
