This place sucks.. Seriously , the place, service and food. We're not into eating fast food hamburgers, so though this highly talked about place might be good "from California".. Wrong we had to pop A FEW tums when we got to the car. The young girl, with no personality, at the counter suggested the combo. After paying and getting to the fountain drink area found that one machine with 6 other flavor options was out if service. Talked to a manager, kid, about any other options and noticed Lemonade on the menu. Said he couldn't give me that and would cost more. The burgers were nasty and the fries were cold and soggy. I think whoever thinks this is a good burger place obviously hasn't eaten at a lot of burger places. I went here and ordered the cheeseburger combo with a lemonade. And I wanted an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie, but had to make sure it was big because if I pay $1 for a cookie, I better get my whole dollar's worth. First thing is a server brought out my lemonade in one really small cup. I told him this wasn't much at all and was it really all that great since I saw a sign advertising it back at the beginning of the drive thru. He assured me even though it comes in a smaller size than their regular drinks, that it was really good. I tasted it. It tasted okay for fresh squeezed, but honestly I've had better and I've drunk a lot of fresh squeezed lemonade. The burger was barely the size of my palm and quite flat despite the hunk of tomato and lettuce in it. Why? Maybe because of that paper thin patty with a small piece of cheese, perhaps? What was that secret sauce they were talking about? It sure didn't give the burger any secret or special taste! And those fresh cut fries were so small and fell apart so easily I felt like I was going to put more fingers in my mouth than fries when I picked them up. I have never seen fries fall apart like that...they should have been chopped hash browns. You'd have one hell of a time trying to dip these into ketchup, and unfortunately there were way more of them than there were supposed to be. Any time the fries are larger in size than the burger it's not a good thing. The oatmeal cookie, though still not all that huge, was the only thing that tasted good to me. However, I literally felt like going to McDonald's to get a quarter pounder value meal. I feel I could have gotten a way better value for $7. And I have one thing to really say about my experience here: in the near future when I see this place, I'll say "I've been, but I ain't been back!" I think they've got to reexamine their business model. I ate at P Terry's on N Lamar one day, meeting a friend who raved about it. The burger was okay. I was puzzled and intrigued by the tiny potato slivers they serve as french fries not sure if I liked them that way or not. Hadn't been back, mostly because of location. I live northwest. Three years later... I was leaving an appointment nearby, was hungry, and saw they had recently opened off Mo Pac so I thought I'd try them again. The drive through line wasn't long but the the wait was. Finally, I got my cheeseburger and fries. Yun! Off I go. Now I know I'm not a fan of the french fries. They are like potato toothpicks and you have to down a handful to get that yummy french fry potato goodness. Hard to do if you like them with ketchup and you're driving! And they get cold very quickly-yuck! Kind of like those potato sticks in the can. The cheese burger was forgettable. Nothing really bad or really good about it Kind of dry and flavorless. Did I actually eat a burger? I think so. I had a bag and a wrapper... I'm going to come clean here and confess my favorite cheese burger so far in Austin that is reasonably priced and always satisfies me. A weird space time continuum issue occurs here. I walked in and all of a sudden I was no longer in a P Terry's. I have been a patron of P. Terry's for a long time but this one feels weird. Maybe it is the size or maybe its the large crowd inside the store. But fear not the quality is still great and the service is still surprisingly fast. I have not gone through the drive thru of this location so I am not sure if it moves quick but the inside counter does a good job. My only knock is the major congestion that occurs around the soda machine. I would recommend separating the condiment and soda lid section from each other. read more

I came here with quite a large order, and P. Terry's definitely delivered. I came around 6:30PM, so the drive-through line was incredibly long. As a result I decided to come in and order, where the line was only a few people long. My order was comprised of a Double Cheeseburger, a Double sans Cheese, and a Single Cheeseburger with a side of fries and a variety of drinks. The burgers were perfectly made to order, although my nephew's single cheeseburger had so much lettuce he couldn't fit the whole thing in his mouth. His cheese was also melted off to the side of the burger, which made it hard to hold without getting cheese on his hands. The fries were crisp and a little salty, but overall pretty goodThe strawberry shake was thick and cold, definitely delicious! Their iced tea lemonade was also very flavorful, and they even call it an Arnold Palmer, which I found amusing. The bathroom was very clean, although the sink space was very, very narrow. My wait wasn't very long, but when I walked outside I didn't see any of the cars I had seen walking in so I'm not sure I chose the faster option. So dang good. And I'm so excited - this one is the closest to my house - no more day trips for P. Terry's (kidding, of course, but we used to go to Barton just for the Ps). The burgers are great. The single is just enough, unless I am so starving I want to eat my own shoes, then a double for sure. And I don't know what the special sauce is - but don't miss it. I do like the fries, while limp, they have this lovely brown color that I think adds a little flavor love to the mix. Now, let's just discuss actually getting in there. The fastest way would be to turn right off the access road onto whatever little street that is. I didn't do that - just coming off the Mopac, I wasn't sure I could make it AND I thought there would be another entrance straight away. Nope. Not so much. I was nearly to the critical, so starving I'd eat my own shoe stage before I finally wound my way around the lot and got in there. I do like the wideness of the drive-thru. The increasingly poor decisions of P.Terry. With the new location along a very traveled Mo-Pac service road, ignoring this hyped burger joint is no longer an option. The very attractive Modern designed building and convenient location pushed my expectations up much higher than normal. The building went up and opened for business in record time, more a testament to the efficiency of the architect and contractor than P.Terry, and this is where faults start to form. Its as if P. Terry owners decided to put someone else in charge of making decisions based on style or ethos rather than customer service, common sense and eating establishment. Once the gloss the architecturally pleasing curb appeal wears off, it's a string of rather irritating poor decisions. Getting in the parking lot itself is a chore, the concrete formed patio is not inviting, an un-shaded sandbox for kids? The creative person who pitched this idea could not possibly have kids; sand and food do not mix. Its also right next to the parking lot, toddlers are sure to wander/fall into the path of vehicle with no barrier in place. The inside of the building is stark. Yes its nice design, but feels incomplete. The drink station in the middle of the restaurant is very odd. The bathroom looks as if belongs at a campground. There is very few booths, a hallmark to the 50's modern design this place is attempting to emulate. For a brand new building, the drink station seems already old compared to newer designs. Can not serve yourself lemonade - it's slightly more than a soft drink, and leaves only one non-carbonated drink for kids. Did I mention stark yet, the simple menu of burgers and fries practically have no flavor. I get it, its cheap, fresh fast food and do have great prices, but its just completely ordinary. I guess there is an off-menu grilled cheese we were told about by a server, after we paid -when we specifically asked at time of order if there was anything for kids and were told "no kids meals". I'd like to give this place a better review, but really all these poor decisions and lack of any personality beyond the architects exterior vision, this place is simply cheap, meant for drive through only. I appreciate the attempt to attract new customers with the dine-in experience, but P. Terry, you've got to more effort into it. Does not need to be lavish or loud, but a little personality can go a long way. Overall impression: an ordinary burger stand that gave a popular architect a small budget to give the building some curb appeal. Best decision P. I'm writing this review in retrospect as at the time I had no idea of the journey I was about to undertake. I was simply looking for a coworker or two to head out to lunch with and P. Terry's was a last minute decision. I have to admit that when I was first introduced to P. Terry's I was pretty underwhelmed. I couldn't initially get past trying to compare P.T. to the likes of Mighty Fine and Phil's Icehouse, but I was absolutely doing it a disservice. After my initial visit I did some burger introspection and realized I had it all wrong - P. Terry's was fast food and should be compared to the McDonald's, Whataburgers and Wendy's of the world. And when looked at it from that point of view, is one of the top burgers in all of Austin. That's not to say that it's the least crappy burger in the sea of turd burgers. In fact, for fast food it really stands alone. It's amazing the quality of ingredients that are delivered as such an incredible price. I can see why they're spreading all over town and truth be told, even ignoring my price, P. Terry's could still possibly be a top 5 burger. The fries are decent, but at the moment don't seem to stand out in my memory. I want to say they're much better than most and probably should be considered in the top 5 fries list. The shake unfortunately was another story all together. I had high hopes for the shake, but was pretty let down. First off, the color was an unnaturally neon pink and the flavor wasn't much better than something I'd get from your typical fast food restaurant. From my experiences, this is definitely their achilles heal. All-in-all I've come to really enjoy P. Man oh man, what a great surprise after a road trip. We stopped here for drive-thru upon arriving in Austin with hungry kids. The burgers were great, the fries were PERFECT & the milkshakes incredible. The burgers are smaller in size, a perfect portion for most people but if I were really hungry I might get 2. The prices I thought were great, 5 of us ate burgers, fries & drinks (3 shakes, 1 root beer & 1 excellent lemonade) for less than $37! Service was fast and friendly. First of all, no kids meals. Really? Secondly I had to repeat my order three times AND confirm it at the window for them to get it correct (a dry burger, a bacon burger, and a bacon cheese burger), not a difficult order. And their fries? Unsalted, soggy, and GREASY. Seriously it's like their cooking method is boiled in grease, not fried. Lastly, my sons burger (the plain one) was undercooked. Not just pink, but BLOODY. I checked mine and its just as bloody as well. You may like your burger cooked that way, but I don't. And I'm certainly not feeding it that way to my 1 yr old son! The hamburger was just ok. I found it better than Mc Donald's food however I much prefer Dans or In N Out burgers. Big disappointment. Fries were cold and soggy, and when I went up to get a fork for my bunless hamburger, I had to wait for an employee to chew out another employee for wanting to take a break. (Really? Very unprofessional and quite annoying. Can I just have a fork please?) Also, who in the HECK planned out the parking lot/driveways? There is one way in and one way out -- behind the building. If you pass it up on the Mopac frontage road you have to turn in to the parking lot of a bank-like building and then weave your way through to get to P. Terry's. Baaaaaad traffic planning. I had been to P Terry's down south and was excited when I saw a P Terrys opening near my work. It is a little tricky to get into; but, the drive thru was empty, so I decided to stop Thuraya could be a bit more friendly. She kept asking, "Anything else?" She was a bit curt and made me feel like I was wasting her time as I snatched my credit card when I went to pay. Service was quick at the 2nd window. When I got my food, it was hot and fresh. My burger was a tad bit small. It did not have much of a taste. The veggies were fresh and crisp. The burger meat was a good combo of beef and fat. I did not have issues biting into soy "fillers" when I ate the burger. I did get quite a bit of fries. They were hot, but soggy and had a weird taste to them. I was not sure if that was the oil they cook them in or what. There menu is simple, which is good. They are offering a breakfast selection, which I thought is a great idea. I would like to see them use biscuits and not hamburger buns for their breakfast sandwiches. Compared to other burger places, it could have been a tad bit better. I went there for dinner with my daughter about 5:50 tonight but the dining room was closed so we went to the drive thru I and ordered a solo double grilled chicken burger add pickles for myself, and a plain "bun and grilled chicken only" burger combo with a shake for my daughter. They took my credit card and ran it without giving me a receipt which is always sketchy to me. They brought her shake out first (without a straw) and when they brought the bag with our order, it didn't have any ketchup for the fries (which were old, greasy and mushy). There was cheese on her burger (no big deal) so I sent it back to recook. While waiting I started on my burger and noticed there was only two pickles, a flattened tomato, and a LOT of greasy, drippy white cheese. Really disappointing experience! Covid is not an excuse to give half hearted customer service and crappy food for almost $16??? I want to support local business but I think we'll be going back to Whataburger or DQ the next time we get fast food. read more

Garbage. My girlfriend and I walked the dog there one night about an hour before close. I wait outside with the mutt, and she orders us all some food. 4 burgers (yes we ordered the dog a burger, whatever you're weird) We then walked home ready to grub out and relax the rest of the night. Not one burger was done. Each one was pinker than the last. We call up there, but there was no answer as they had already closed. My girl took pics with her phone and we chunked them. We went in the next day to explain what happened. After my girl shows her the pics, we then were lectured on how we should have came back up there. We explained they had already closed at that point. "People are still here cleaning up after we close." Yeah, but they apparently can't answer phones or make a sub-par burger. This location is so perfectly close! Lunchtime is a MADHOUSE! Though it's much bigger than the North Lamar location where I normally go, it fills up fast. Still plenty of tables and even commuter tables as well. I don't like how the condiment/soda machine station is smack dab in the middle. The long line usually wraps around it and it's hard to get through without saying "excuse me" like 10 times. Aside from Chick-fil-a, this is my other favorite place for fast food. The fries were super yummy, not too greasy. The lemonade was fresh squeezed and delish! My daughter had the veggie burger. I took a couple of bites...I needed to test it out. The flavor was good, but the texture a little mushy for me. We ate inside, boy it was freezing cold in there! It's fall why must you have the thermostat set so cold? The whole interior was kind of sterile. The table low top tables need some rubber on the legs. Every time you move a chair on the concrete floors it sounds like nails down a chalk board. If you're looking for greasy fast food this is legit. It's the perfect combo of greasy but then they throw super fresh lettuce and a crispy tomato on the burgers which makes it awesome. Been a big fan of PTerry's for a long time, It ended since I went to this location...As I placed my order and went to the rest room while I waited one of the employees was in there taking a nasty. After finishing he left the restroom with out washing his hands and headed to the kitchen to fulfill my order. This is outright disgusting! Visiting Austin for work and a friend of mine recommended that we eat at P. Terry's. Didn't have much of an expectation, but they said they preferred this over In & Out, and possibly even Shake Shack. The burgers were pretty good and definitely fresh. The fries were awesome. Definitely better than the cheap cafeteria style fries you get from In & Out. I would say the service was pretty average as they forgot our orders. My friends and I were sitting there for a good 20 minutes waiting for our burgers. We didn't really say anything, but the manager still came by to apologize and gave us free cookies, so that was really nice of them. For a quick meal to go that isn't McDonald's, I would definitely come back, but nothing out of the ordinary. read more

Desperately craving meat after a breakfast and lunch filled only with Round Rock donuts, we headed over P.Terry's to get our iron and protein on. Even after reading some of the reviews, I wasn't expecting a full on fast food place. Instead, I had pictured more of a notch or two above. Maybe something closer to a Smash Burger. Nope... Fast food. The difference though was the fancier ambiance and decor. Super cute but I'm drawn to that 60's throwback style. Ordering at the counter was a cinch even though we had the "trainee." We sat down and waited for our number to be called. Kiddo got a grilled cheese which consisted of a slice of cheese on a hamburger bun. Hubs and I both had the cheeseburger combo. Mournfully regretting not getting the double cheeseburger, as we unwrapped the small-ish burger. I'll be honest, I was so hungry that I inhaled the burger. My tastebuds have no memory of meeting their tiny friend. However, my mind and tummy were at peace knowing that the food was hormone free, antibiotic free, fresh and from local farmers. The fries were plentiful and we could have shared one serving. Chocolate shake was good. All in all, we'd totally go back for another round. I have finally tries this and well I am less than satisfied. The appeal of the building is fabulous. Gives the feeling of an old burger stand. The food.. Eh. I had the #2 combo. The burger size was ok for me, but more along the the of a jr. Whataburger. The fries- I can't even give a decent description. There is an odd sweet but not flavor to them. They appear to be fresh cute with skins on them- they are more shoe- string with little potato grease receptacle. Fries can make it or break it for me. They break it here for me. I'm not as blown away by this place as many of my friends and my little brother. It's funny, I even have a P. Terry's sticker on my car that he stuck over the Ford decal. I do wanna like this place but here are my complaints. 1) they don't have a gluten free bun option so my choices are a lettuce "bun" which gets hella messy with mayo, which there was an excess of today...or eat a burger with a fork(not doing it unless I have to) 2) I just honestly didn't think the chicken patty had all that much flavor. On a positive note, I do like the fries & the place is incredibly clean. People are nice too! I had eaten at the one south a couple years ago, before my family went gluten free, and I remember liking it. With buns I recall it being more of a 4-star experience.
