    01. MEATBALL BANH MI
    Jinny C.

Small, unassuming sandwich shop that will surprise you. I got the famous banh mi meatball sandwich and it was perfection. The bread is soft and well-toasted and the meatball and pickled vegetables have a great balance of flavors. They don't skimp on the meatballs either! I had high expectations since the meatball sandwich won "best meatball sandwich of America" back in 2014 and it did not disappoint. They have a stamp card for customers and I suspect I'll be filling that out soon with frequent returns. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The shop is small with some counter table seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There seems to be a lunch rush but it wasn't too slow[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    10. SALAMI, HAM & PEPPERONI

Was craving a sandwich and stopped by here, which was well worth it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a cozy sandwich shop with friendly staff and fast service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I got the salami, pepperoni, and ham sandwich with aioli sauce. The sandwich was very filling with crunchy bread, fresh cold cuts, greens that were not over shinning, and aioli that gave the perfect bite each time. It was the first time I had been in here and will not be the last. Definitely will have to try the famous banh mi next time.

    05. PROSCIUTTO, MOZZARELLA, PESTO & TOMATO (without tomato)

Pane Pane is conveniently located in the heart of Downtown Seattle which makes it the perfect grab-and-go lunch spot. I tried the prosciutto, mozzarella, and pesto sandwich and thought it was decent, but nothing spectacular. The bread was pretty dry, most likely because they only put pesto on the sides of the bread. It was also pretty pricey (close to $20 after tax and tips) but the portion was fairly big.

Sweet local spot for fast affordable sandwiches. A nice break from fancier options near the downtown hotels. We had a BBQ chicken bahn mi and a turkey sandwich: both were well-filled on soft, crunchy rolls. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There are just a few stools for seating inside and the walls feature promo posters for local events, so you can plan your weekend while you eat![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Great sandwich shop! I got the turkey/avocado. My sister in law got the turkey/avocado/bacon. They were tasty for sure. They have a chipotle mayo sauce that really made them great! Wonderful service. Outside the establishment was a lot of sketchy folks doing drugs so that was the only downside. Not sure I would take my kids to eat here with the people outside slumped over doing the fentanyl bend or the guy pacing back and forth with crack pipe hanging out his mouth. We basically got our food and kept trekking back to our hotel. I feel bad for the businesses having to deal with this as I'm sure it deflects customers. Bathroom was closed. I assume to keep the homeless and drug users out! Unfortunate for paying customers since it's hard to find clean bathrooms outside your hotel.

This sandwich spot will seriously knock your socks off, and without breaking the bank! I opted for the Turkey avocado bacon Swiss and enjoyed every bite. I love the banh mi style baguette bread too. The staff was beyond kind. This is a total hidden gem, right between 3rd and 4th on Union. I can't wait to try the rest of their menu!

Finally moved back and got to try it. I've had my eyes on the Fast Eddie ever since I heard about this place because it was one of the most recommended sandwiches. The ambiance was alright. Pretty dark imo but maybe because it was just after Christmas and they had their holiday decor up. Also the bar area was closed. I was a bit confused on where to order until I realized there were kiosks by the front counter. It would've been nice if one of the workers actually had said something to me. Anyway, onto the food. I got the Fast Eddie with fries and it was alright. The meat was bit dry. Yes there was the au jus to dip in and it helped quite a bit, but all the flavors just didn't mesh. It was basically an ordinary french dip. The fries were okay, but the jalapeno aioli was great! That made everything better, but not enough to save the sandwich. Not sure if I would come back, but I would definitely try a different sandwich. One that caters more to my taste buds

Really good sandwiches!…read more I was visiting Seattle for work and during my break, I decided to go to the Armory for lunch. This was certainly a great choice, the food is excellent! I had their Philly Cheesesteak, which was awesome. Everything is cooked to order, so there is a slight wait after ordering, but it is certainly worth it. There are also seats and tables outside of the spot for you to eat at, it's shared with a few other restaurants. If you really want an exciting time, eat there while a Zumba is going on! Located in the Seattle Center Armory, along with many other food vendors, Big Mike's Sandwich Company is serving up huge cheesesteaks, chopped cheese, and other East Coast-style subs. For $25, I picked up the cheesesteak and fries combo. Not a terrible price for the portion. Waited about 10-15 minutes for the sandwich to come out. You order on a tablet here, and then they call your name. It's a small storefront, so you really have to stay nearby to hear your name being called in the large space that is the Armory. Not much interaction with staff. Plenty of seating throughout the Armory, though shared with other restaurants. The food came out piping hot. Obviously, they cook everything fresh to order because the inside of the fries was like lava. The fries were thick-cut and seasoned to perfection. The sandwich was good. I thought some pieces of the steak were a bit tough, and the roll seemed a bit over-steamed or possibly stale. A good sandwich and decent portion, nonetheless. I'm still going 5 stars here. I think Big Mike's is a great choice if you want a hearty, meat-filled sandwich and you happen to be in the area. However, I think you could be happy with another dining option in the Armory, too. My kids loved the MOD Pizza nearby. While there isn't anything wildly unique going on at Big Mike's, they are still pushing out great sandwiches at reasonable prices with a no-frills ordering process.

We ordered the Meatball Sub and Eggplant Sub with marinara sauce. Both sandwiches were flavorful and satisfying. The meatball sub was hearty and comforting, while the eggplant sub had a rich marinara sauce that worked well with the sandwich. We were especially disappointed that the Cubano was sold out, as it was one of the main reasons we stopped by. The only drawback was the price--at around $20 per sandwich, it felt a bit expensive for what you get, especially considering it was just a 6-inch sub, even though the quality was good. We visited during a FIFA World Cup match, so the line was quite long, but it moved steadily and efficiently. No complaints there. The atmosphere is casual and straightforward, with indoor seating only. Its downtown location near the stadiums makes it a convenient spot for a quick meal before or after an event. Overall, a good sandwich shop with quality food, though the pricing keeps it from being a must-visit. I'd still come back to finally try that Cubano.

Their bagels are fabulous as is their lox. For those, like me, who can unhinge their jaw for an authentic pastrami or corned beef masterpiece. Go with the "Ding sized" sandwich. They'll make a smaller Seattle sized version as well for those who don't treat deli as an indulgence of rye and meat piled high. I wish they'd add kreplach to the menu (sorry Vance. I know my litany is old!) but I keep discovering new deliciousness here even after being a regular for nearly 4 years since my recovery from a life threatening illness, that I recovered from in part due to making regular stops here during my post surgical recovery. Just today I had the blintzes for the first time with their in house made cherry compote and sour cream. Amazing. Keep up the amazing work!!! My recommendation for newbies. Get the pastrami on marbled rye with gribenes and mustard. If you're feeling extra indulgent ask for a schmear of chopped liver, if you're keen on said. You won't regret it!

Bonus: this spot is kosher! Potato Latkes (5/5): These latkes are thick boys and fried up so they're piping hot when they hit the table. Because of their size, you really get the contrast of the hard crunch on the outside with super fluffy potato inside. So good we immediately turned around and ordered more. Chocolate Babka (2/5): This was truly the only miss I've had here. Unfortunately, the babka just really dries out after it's been sliced, which is a shame because it's just gorgeous with generous swirls of chocolate inside. Reuben (5/5): I really thought their pastrami couldn't be beat, but the brisket is dare I say better? Just as tender and feels a bit less fatty, so it's a little more crushable. Tip: go for the seeded rye over the marbled rye; something about the marbled rye just falls apart a bit more with the juices of the meat, though it's still delicious! Black & White Cookies (4/5): I expected this to be cloyingly sweet, but this was actually scrumptious with some fresh lemon flavor in the cookie itself. Absolutely massive as well.
