This is one of, if not THE best Paneras in Richmond- attentive customer service, friendly staff, and comfortable/relaxed layout. Yes very busy during lunch but that is true for most all Paneras. Earlier this week I tried something new- phoning in an order as I had my young kids with me. 2 kids grilled cheese, yogurts, milks, and cookie. Unfortunately I did not know phone orders are taken at a central call desk, not store based. The corporate employee taking my call hit the wrong button and sent my order to a different store on the other side of town. When I arrived at the Summit Panera, they had no record of my order. So I had to re-order, verify my name, and re-confirm the previous cancelled order. The manager on duty was extremely helpful and made sure my order was taken care of as quickly as possible, despite the time being 12:30pm and during the height of the lunch crunch. Successful customer service is not always getting everything perfect but how you handle the problem. read more

I love this location. Like every typical gal I love Panera Bread to start but not all locations are equal. I worked next to a Panera in Midlothian that was so small and with nowhere to park...it was the pits. This Panera is the best because it's a large restaurant so there is always somewhere to sit. There's plenty of parking. And the food is always made to standard. The staff also remember your name after you've been a few times which is always a nice touch. read more

What can I say, its Panera! We've purchased bread from here, A-OK. The pastries are not exceptional, but my son loves the chocolate chip muffie top and the cobblestone is ok. The bear claw, somewhat disappointing. I like the bbq chicken salad, my son the chicken noodle soup and my wife the frontega chicken sandwich. The Panera's in the Richmond area are pretty much the same, but that is a half click south of those I've frequented in other areas. For some reason, they all under-cook the sandwiches. For drinks, the hazelnut coffee is among the best and my wife likes the carmel latte. From a personal perspective, I like non-chains better, but when indecision reigns, Panera is a decent alternative. read more

There are Panera Bread restaurants just about everywhere. I find myself eating lunch at them on a regular basis when I am on the road and not in a major city like NY, Boston or San Francisco. I think the biggest attraction is that Panera offers the opportunity to eat healthy as long as there is not fear of carbs. Since most of the Panera's I have been to are all about the same this one is no different. There is always a line at lunch but it moves very fast and most of the time the order is up as soon as it is paid for. The last couple of days there has been some confusion at the pickup counter. The selection of soups has not been to my liking but they are currently serving the Southwest Tomato with Corn. I usually get the Chipolte Chicken sandwich as part of the Pick 2 option but today I got the Italian Sandwich. I am going back to the Chipolte Chicken next time. read more

* Sad face * My first visit went perfect. My order was correct and tasted good. I did the rapid pickup and I barely got to sit down before someone asked me was it my order. Everything was in the bag that I needed including napkins, utensils and extra dressing. Everything was packaged cute in boxes which worked out well as I was able to save half for lunch. Soooooo I decided to try it again two days later. Nothing was the same. The sandwiches seemed smaller and came poorly packaged in some paper that was ripped so tuna was falling into the bag. The sandwich was half cut which I figured wasn't a big deal until I realized why. It was a brick!!!! The bottom half of the bread would not cut. Thinking maybe it's been a long day, maybe I'm a little exhausted, it might be me, I sawed through it. Despite my better judgement I decided to bite into. Needless to say My poor teeth hurt for hours. I tossed the sandwich and ate the salad which was decent. The service the second time around was ok. That's all I'll say. Overall I cant say I'd recommend. I'm not sure if it's really bad and I just had a good first time experience or vise versa but I'm hoping that was just an off day. Only 3 days left in VA so I probably won't be back. But I will say their pumpkin pie bagel is Amazing! read more

I've had a couple of disappointing experiences through the drive-through over the last month. Not sure if they get overwhelmed or what but my order has been wrong a few times. The last two times I've emphasized my order trying to ensure it's correct and I guess shame on me for not going through the order before I drove away. I had the wrong sandwich the wrong oatmeal and sweetened tea's instead of unsweetened. Considering how expensive their food is I would hope The orders would be correct at least. read more

I am deaf so first thing I get is a extremely rude server who actually refused to take my order because I told her I was deaf. I told her I had a laser pen and could write it down but still she said something derogatory towards me and refused and got another server. Who then looked like a deer in the head lights. She also refused and got the manager. I deal with ignorant people all the time but this is one of the worst yet. The manager took my order no problem apologizing the whole time and through in a sticky bunn. I told him this is not how to treat any customer with a disability or for any reason. The bagels are top notch and I love the honey walnut cream cheese. The spinach and artichoke soufflé is amazing. I even enjoy the cookies when we get them. Now that I am on a health kick, I have found two different salads I really enjoy: the spicy Thai chicken salad and the green goddess Cobb salad with chicken. Panera Bread has totally failed since the pandemic. At the Regency location I ordered Modern Greek Salad. The greens were wilted - the second time the worst. We decided to return to the one on Broad Street. Ordered the same and was terribly disappointed. The "fresh" apple provided as a side is visibly rotten at the core. Sometimes I order sandwiches other times I cry when there are no pastries and it's only six pm. My life is so hard

I have visited this location 5-6 times in the last year and each time the seating area was dirty.. sticky tables, trash on the floor, the tile floor obviously in need of a mopping.. At first, I thought I must be here at a particularly busy time, however, on 12/26/16, I decided that this place is consistently dirty. As Matthew B described in his posting of 12/24/16, it was in the same condition on 12/26.. tables dirty, dried food sprayed over the seat/sides of the booth I was sitting in, trash spilling out of the cans, dirty dishes stacked to overflowing on them... Although the staff is always pleasant and helpful, if the management of this location permits this kind of obvious lack of cleanliness and care in the seating area, what's going on in the kitchen? Regular ol' Panera. Nothing to see here. I have never figured out why they give you a buzzer/pager to tell you when your food is ready. I have never arrived at the counter with my pager in hand and had them know exactly which food is mine. They always just randomly place everyone's food sacks up there, and we have to do an awkward shuffle looking through bags to figure out whose is whose. Not the most efficient process--why do they even bother taking my name when I order? Or giving me a numbered buzzer? Opportunities for process improvement abound here. read more

Eating dinner with my family at the West Broad location can be a hit or miss experience as I learned last night. Our party of four placed our orders without a problem, but it all went downhill after we were seated. It was not very busy crowd-wise, so we were a bit surprised when it took nearly 30 minutes for our food to arrive. To make matters worse, there were several items missing (chips, pastry). When I took my receipt back to the order desk and explained our order had ben delivered incomplete, I was questioned by the order clerk and treated as if I was being dishonest. One of my favorite items at Panera is french onion soup which was delivered without cheese. Instead, the soup bowl was covered with small croutons that quickly absorbed most of the liquid. Our first time visiting this location and it was not a great experience. We arrived a little after 9:30am and they did not have any souffles or bearclaws...even the couple in front of us had to modify their order due to items not being available. I ordered catering for a work function. I custom ordered bagels. I was delivered the wrong bagels. When I called in, the manager was very abrupt, unapologetic would be an understatement. She claimed they have the right to sub out when they are out of an order. I ordered the day before. I asked if they were out of plain and blueberry bagels already at 8:50am. She said yes. I did not believe her at all. Out of plain for the entire day? When I told her that we most likely would never order from them again, she just said "fine" and hung up. Pretty unreal for the manager to be like that when I was calm and politely stating my order was wrong. Do not go there as apparently they could care less. And your catering order for events is not what you will be receiving. read more

Usually I love Panera, but today was horrible. My husband and I got Panera to go early afternoon. I got the pick two, one of my items was the chicken frontega panini. There was the tiniest amount of chicken and it was burnt on the bottom. My other item was the chicken Alfredo pasta with extra chicken I was charged for the add on, but again there was a tiny amount of chicken. My husband called and the manager was apologetic and offered to remake it; however, we were both on the road we didn't have time to go back since we are in process of moving. I've ordered from other locations and I have never had a bad experience. Today, however, was awful. Panera is known for being extremely quick and fresh. I waited a little over an hour for my order, and I then had to leave because I was late getting back to work. I tried calling the store to no answer. When I got home about 4 hours later, I find ants all over my front porch swarming the food that was left there. Somethings gotta change at that location. All of the other locations have delivery down. Normally, I would go into the store if I wanted to eat there. But today I was pressed for time and apparently Panera wasn't. read more

The service is quick and the folks are super nice. Original Review (3 stars) I love Panera Bread, I really do. I go here probably on a daily basis (especially when I was on a diet, I'd get the Chicken Noodle Soup and Half BBQ Chick Salad) and it helped me. But this location has issues after issues, and it's beginning to get very annoying. For the time that I've been to this particular location, and only 3 months, for a week or two, their toaster broke, so I couldn't get my bagels toasted. Then now, the internet or phone is out for a week so they cannot add or look at your rewards. Seriously, I have never experienced issues with any other Panera Bread. This type of stuff is just unacceptable!! It's always something wrong with it!!! Changing this particular Panera Bread from 1 to 3 star, since the manager there was so awesome. We came at 9:30 and their sweet tea was out, and they actually made another batch for us!! read more
