Rating this store 4 stars for their great customer service. It would have been 5 but there was a…read morereturn issue... For Christmas my husband both my some Nike sneakers. Unfortunately they were the wrong size. My husband misplaced the receipt and didn't give our telephone number when checking out so they couldn't track down our purchase in store. The associate, Tony, was handling the return said there was nothing he could do. They couldn't look up charges off of cards, like Walmart or Target does. All he offered to take back the shoes without the receipt for store credit for the lowest selling price of TWO DOLLARS What's ridiculous is that there's no way there's their lowest selling price for NEW NIKE SHOES. They don't even sell anything in that store for $2 My husband then asked to speak to manager (Kristian I think was his name) and he just reiterated what Tony had said. Needless to say my husband left the store with the shoes pretty upset. I happened to go into the store at a later date and thought to ask a sale floor associate if it was really true that they couldn't look up charges on a card which he confirmed. I briefly mentioned what had happened and he suggested we bring in our proof of purchase using our card statement and said they might be able to work with that. Doing just that, I returned a few days later. Steven was at the cash register. When I brought him up to speed on the situation, the first time he said was to "call customer service and they should be able to help look up our purchase and email the receipt." Once that was done he could process the return. He promptly gave me the number and guess what?! IT WORKED! It was a short call and the customer service attendant Jakaira immediately emailed me the receipt. Both Steven and the manager Vince helping process the return and it was resolved quickly! Steven and Vince are the reason why I am giving the store 4 stars. They were both so polite and helped return the shoes without an issue. Honestly if it wasn't for Tony and the other manager, I would have given the store 5 stars‍

He unwillingly/rushingly scanned the PINK item and stated "Nope that's all we have is PINK". I asked, so not in back either? "No". I could tell he wasn't dilligently looking so I asked another employee if they had the item in BLACK OR WHITE..he found "THREE AVAILABLE" IN BLACK. As he was on the register he only pointed me back to the area I had already looked. I said I already looked there, he said "ok well then we don't have it, whatever is out is what we have" Long story short I looked online and ordered the item for pickup, about 30 mins later I receive a message that my item was ready & drove back to the store to pick it up. I asked to speak to the manager, and I couldn't believe it was the same guy who told me they didn't have it! We all make mistakes right, but it was just the way our initial interaction went that I knew he was being lazy. Further, rather than apologize he double-downed on his explanation that they only had PINK. Like bro I'm holding it in my hand & it says available online? I realized he only scanned the pink item, so of course it didn't bring up the other colors that may or may not be available. He was like upset I found it?? It's just annoying that I was just in the store and all he had to do was take 2 minutes to assist me. There were more employees in the store than customers & nobody could spare a couple minutes to simply look for an item, isn't that apart of the job? It was super weird bc Dick's employees are usually very helpful. I hope Victor is having a better day.

After an incredibly frustrating experience at the Fairfield Dick's Sporting Goods, I felt compelled…read moreto recognize an employee who truly understands customer service. I purchased a pair of softball cleats for my daughter online. Unfortunately, they ended up being too small. She wore them briefly while sitting in the dugout at practice, immediately realized they hurt her feet, and took them off. The cleats were essentially brand new. When I attempted to exchange them at the Fairfield store, I was met with resistance from management. Anna Pintane refused the return and was extremely condescending throughout the interaction. Instead of listening to my explanation, she lectured me about how cleats should be worn around the house before practice and even told me that if they didn't fit, I should sell them to a teammate or on Facebook Marketplace. I couldn't believe that was the solution being offered by a store manager. The entire interaction left me feeling dismissed and disrespected as a customer. Fortunately, I decided to try the Pleasant Hill location. What a completely different experience. Mike McKensy (store manager) was absolutely wonderful. He listened, understood the situation, treated me with respect, and promptly processed the return of the cleats that were still essentially new. He was professional, friendly, and focused on helping the customer rather than finding reasons not to. Mike turned a very negative experience into a positive one and restored some of my faith in Dick's Sporting Goods. Customer service like his is exactly what keeps people coming back. If you're shopping at Dick's, I highly recommend the Pleasant Hill store and especially Mike. He is an outstanding example of how customers should be treated. Thank you, Mike, for your professionalism and for making what should have been a simple exchange actually simple.

They say that they are engaging their customers... when in reality I felt that I was being viewed with suspicion and doubt as I tried on a pair of shoes and perhaps looked a bit dismayed when the common sizes I was looking for were not surprisingly out of stock. So Because I left the store without buying anything - store staff alerted police to my shopping habits and I was interrogated by a Pleasant Hill PD concerning my lack of purchasing at Dicks... not that I stole anything, just that my image as a shopper didn't match their image of a paying customer?! Since when do sporting goods store clerks determine what is probable cause to detain someone (a mile down the road have you) ? I understand that shoplifting is rampant in this area but that is no reason to treat someone who has no intent to steal in that fashion. Meanwhile the only engagement I had with any of the Dick clerks at Dicks came from me asking questions only to receive half assed Answers. Just a shtty experience all Around. I've bought plenty of items over the years from Dicks but I will never shop there again. As for pleasant hill PD sending out their rookie to investigate the Dicks lead that I didnt buy anything so therefore I was there to yada... yada... yada.... Go solve some real crime and use your brain before detaining me. Next time it'll cost you $

It was my first time buying a gun and I told him that and the way he was talking to me it made it seem like he was trying to make me feel stupid. He needs to learn how to talk to people. But I bought the gun anyway because they were the only ones in my area who had it. Now the pick up process was great. I was helped by I believe his name was PK. Asian dude with glasses and a black hat. He was extremely nice and showed me all the safety tips and how to properly handle the gun. Im most likely never gonna shop here again because of that rude guy who first helped me. Now that I have the gun I want I will take my business for ammo and parts somewhere else. I really hope the managers read this review and tell that guy he needs to work on his people skills. The guy is a complete jerk.

The store was huge, full of merch and pretty much devoid of people. I headed towards the shoe department and spotted the pair I had seen online, although here they were not on sale. I figured I would ask an employee but there was only one working in the vicinity. There was a kiosk that I attempted to use but it did not even show the shoes in stock. I did not have all day to wait but I hung around for a bit longer by the entrance to the shoe stock room and an another employee finally appeared, said 'excuse me' and walked right by me without asking if I needed help. This is probably obvious to others, but if you want to get good service it's best to go to a smaller business! Or even just another large sporting goods store, of which we have several in the Bay. Dicks though, they live up to their name.
