We love Pappasitos and the locations didn't disappoint. I arrived a little early to meet some friends. They were stuck in traffic, so I took up a table of 7 for a lot longer than expected. Our server was so nice and understanding. We had 3 adults and 4 kids. We ordered a ton of food and did not leave hungry. The restaurant was clean and so cold. It was a VERY hot day in July, so this was also a nice addition to our visit. Our server was very accommodating to the kids. I always like when they acknowledge the kids and don't treat them like they are a burden. We have a friend who is a sensitive celiac (gluten free). Pappasitos has a specific gluten free menu and the server tells the kitchen when someone comes in with a serious allergy. They provide baked chips (which weren't great, but necessary). We ordered margaritas, ranch waters, enchilada, fish tacos and a few items off of the kids menu for the kids. It was a great experience and we will definitely return. read more

Today was a great dining experience for the most part. I was out checking on projects on the area so decided to have a lunch stop. I came a little before 12, there were quite a few people standing around at the hostess stand. One hostess was on the phone, the other was just standing there staring off into space doing nothing. I asked the ladies being in front of me if they had been helped yet and they gave me a rolled eye and snicker and said no. A manager swooped in and started giving everyone situated which I appreciated. The interior of the restaurant was colorful and pretty similar to the other locations with the Matador decor. I like the stained glass hanging light features in the main dining room. I was quickly waited on by a server who is training a young lady. They were both very friendly and stayed on top of everything efficiently. The iced tea glasses were packed with ice so they seem to have to stop by more frequently than I need to do to refill. The chip basket was overflowing, they probably could have put a little bit less in there considering it was just me eating. Salsa was delicious and had a really nice roasted tomato flavor. I worked at pappasito's a very long time ago in Austin and was surprised to see how much the prices have gone up since then. Even the lunch specials were on the higher end of price. An iced tea for $3.25 seems pretty excessive. I got the chicken tinga enchilada with Verde sauce and a beef taco for $14.95. The enchilada was delicious and the taco is as big as my hand, the meat had a very spicy flavor. The beans and rice we're a little too firm for my liking. Needed a little bit more time to cook. Considering the price and the slight wait time at the hostess stand I gave this four stars. read more

I debated about writing this review. But my stomach is still upset at 1am. We ate here about 3pm earlier today (Saturday). I think when the salsa is watery and no heat is big indicator of what to expect. But we decided to stay to give the restaurant a chance. I know it's been there forever so it must be good. ‍ Right?? First thing first, we were seated by the server station where the chips were kept. The smell of oil was in the air. It was confirmed by the very thin oily tasting chips. Very hard to scoop the guacamole. Not a fan. The food in general was ok. But we were disappointed. We had tortilla soup, burrito, guacamole and flautas. I guess I had too much expectation for these local Mexican restaurants. The food is supposed to have lots of flavour and spicy. IT'S MEXICAN!! Josh our server was nice and did his job. But he didn't offer any options when I was inquiring about wanting spicy salsa. Only tried to explain that it was removed by cooperate. I guess I have to contend with the fact that these local big restaurants are geared towards more of the non-spicy and non-flavor pallet. Disappointing. Soon after we left our stomachs were queasy. This has continued all night for me. I've tried avoiding throwing up. Hoping it stops soon. Will not return. read more

When in Texas and wanting Tex-Mex, Pappasitos is the place to be. The Pappa's chain of restaurants offer a variety of cuisines and experiences. Pappasitos has that Catina-style feel with a variety of Tex-Mex selections. The atmosphere was great. The service was absolutely the best. The portions were extremely generous. Granted it is pricey, but the quality is worth the extra price for the food and drinks. We were there on a Saturday night, and it was extremely busy. It was good to see with such a busy crowd that even the manager was stepping in to assist. He was working hard to help his employees. He was definitely leading by example. It was truly all hands on deck. I love the cantina style and taste of the chips and salsa. The tacos were huge. The shrimp brochette was very tasty. They had just enough char on them without being burned...perfect. Our food was hot and fresh. Stephanie R was our server. She did an excellent job of managing the bar scene, and the many people that were there on a Saturday night. Our order was incorrect a couple of times, but Stephanie was very apologetic and did what she could to try and correct it. This past September however I went out to eat with my cousin for his birthday & this was the place he and his woman decided on. When I tell you that first bite CHANGED MY LIFE . If you're looking for bold flavor, definitely order their hatch chile pulled pork enchiladas w/rice & frijoles a la charra (hopefully it isn't just a seasonal dish). If you like variety, go for their beef fajita w/ quail and shrimp brochette. The only downside to this restaurant, much like Pappadeaux's, is that it is on the pricey side. HORRIBLE service! We arrived at 430 pm to a mostly empty dining room. The host mumbles its going to be a 20-30 minute wait. I looked up in shock and asked why as there are only 2 tables sat. He said they can't handle more than that.we asked can we sit with drinks at a table while waiting, and we were informed that was impossible. I asked for the manager because I've never been told we couldn't be seated with an empty restaurant during an event special. The manager said it was true they can't handle more than two tables at a time. 100% lost a $300 dollar table as we turned and walked out the door. It was a bit busy, so he wasn't as attentive but at one point when our drinks arrived a young man that looked very similar to Oscar came to our table with our drinks and quickly scampered away, before i could see his name tag he was almost inside the restaurant- i called after him and he said- "what?" i was taken aback- surely he did not say "what?" i told him we were ready to order and he said "i'm not your server." i apologized and turned around embarrassed- i asked my friends if they heard the same thing as i did- YEP! wow. Had a wonderful experience at Pappasitos, had a reservation at 8:15 pm walked right in and was seated. Waitress was attentive took our drink order, was back and then we ordered margaritas and sangria she brought it back quickly. We ordered the combo fajitas and we were completely done eating by 8:32 pm. They were super fast with everything. Only complaint I would have is I didn't get to eat my appetizer before the food arrived The beef fajitas were amazing! The homemade tortillas made it 1000x better. Came in for a 6:30 reservation the day before Mother's Day. Yes, they were busy, no, we did not expect super fast service. But were pleasantly surprised when we checked in 10 minutes early and were told to hang out nearby, that they were getting our table. 3-4 minutes later, we were seated. The restaurant is a bit noisy, but with the capacity it holds, that's something you'd expect. No worries from us. Everything started off extremely well. Wait or was quick to the table, gave us a quick run down of the favorites / what they're known for, got our drink order and queso appetizer order, had drinks out quick and queso was also quickly delivered. By 6:35, we had our drinks, appetizer and food order placed. From there, we went WAY down hill. While our waiter was good to make sure our drinks were filled, our food took almost 45 minutes to arrive. Before anyone comments, I ordered the dish "they are known for" the chicken fajitas. My wife ordered chicken quesadillas. Nothing special, nothing over the top difficult to make, especially if you're going to promote your restaurant on specializing in a certain dish and you LITERALLY make that dish the center of your menu... And before you think, "...well, you said they were busy..." yes I did. Directly behind us, a party of 3 was seated almost 10 minutes after us. They ordered (and they were not quick to order), got their food, paid and left the table and our food still had not come out. ANOTHER party of 3 was seated almost 20 minutes after we were seated and they received their food a couple minutes after ours was delivered. When my fajitas came out, someone other than our waiter brought them out, without tortillas. He said he would get them straight away...nothing. Almost 5 minutes later and our waiter comes back around and finally retrieves them...to which I was surprised to find out the tortilla maker was literally right behind our booth. Had it not been for it being the dinner I was taking my wife out for her Mother's Day meal with just me, I would have complained. I would have also told the waiter that my wife's quesadillas were served cold. But, she hates negativity, so we paid and left. The chicken fajita was nothing over the top, especially for the $30 they charge for it. You can get VERY comparable chicken (quality wise) at just about any Tex-mex establishment around AND for half the price. EASILY. Our waiter did comp the queso for us because he said it was our first time in, but what bothered me were the MANY managers / supervisors that walked right by our table several times, never a look, never a care or concern as to what was going on. Again, I understand, they were busy. They had several large groups, but we were seated near the front, near to where 3-4 managers / supervisors were hanging about, all of them seemingly aloof and oblivious. Literally, anytime we have been to a Pappa's chain restaurant(Pappadeaux's is always on top of these things), we have ALWAYS been either greeted mid meal by a manager or visited at the end. Nothing here. For the price tag you're going to be hit with, be sure you stay on top of your wait staff if you go here. Food was getting turned out of the kitchen left and right, non stop, but our poor waiter couldn't get anything done with ours. I chalked it up to he was too afraid to go back and push the kitchen staff as to where the food was for our table, or he just wasn't doing what he told us. I have a hard time believing if he told the kitchen staff that a table seated 10 minutes after us had 3 plates of food and we had nothing, that the kitchen wouldn't kick it into overdrive. read more

Upon walking up to the door, I could smell the food from the parking lot. The closer I got the more my mouth started to water. We walked in and were immediately seated. The waiter came and got our drink ordered and brought the baby some crayons and some pictures. He was a bit fussy during the meal but everyone was very sweet. The service was amazing. The first time I tried Pappasito's I loved it but when I went here I was turned off. I noticed the chips smelled terrible. After that, I noticed the smell in the whole restaurant, and the food tasted like the smell. I was with my boyfriend, and we were feeling queasy after eating here. This is some really good Tex-mex food... for a price. The fajitas were pretty tasty. I wish that the steak was more tender. The fajitas come with drawn butter to put on your fajita or to dip your jalapeño shrimp in (if you add shrimp). Omg!! So delicious, but my arteries were screaming. Lol. The guacamole had a lot of huge chunks of avocado so we basically had to smash up our own guacamole. No big deal. It tasted great. Lastly, the service was great and very friendly. I've never been here before, so when I first got out the car in the parking lot, the smell was amazing. I was thinking I wouldn't like this place, but it ended up being one of the best Mexican-type restaurants I've been to! I went with two other people and we got the family-size steak fajitas with rice, guac, queso, and jalapeño sausage as our sides. The chips and queso is one of the best I've ever had. The chips are thin, less filling, just enough salt on it, and with the queso it makes it so much better. The steak fajitas that I put in my soft tortilla included queso and guac, which was so good! I had the sausage and rice separate which was really good on its own. The steak was cooked to perfection, was so tender and was seasoned amazingly. I was so pleased with this experience. This is definitely one of my top restaurants I'll go to again to when I'm down south in the future. read more

I didn't really get to experience much other than be with my best friend that night. We were seated right away and greeted by the waitress. She provided guac and chips right away after we requested it. I was expecting a plain and small served guac but the dish was huge and it was flavorful! It was addicting and we couldn't stop munching it. Next, we ordered the 4 glasses of margaritas. I drank the coconut and mango flavor. I liked the mango flavor more since they added a type of spice on the rim of the glass. The rest of the margaritas which is the guava and berries were given to my friends. Our food came and I ordered chicken fajita nachos. The nachos were crispy and flavorful to the bite and I enjoyed eating the gooey cheese, topped with chicken cubes and fajita meat. I attended a work dinner at this location today and was utterly impressed with the service. We were in deep conversation over appetizers for an extended period as people arrived intermittently, but our server Dillon was attentive and not pushy. Making sure that when we were ready, he was available and never had an issue empty cup. I have a very special health diet protocol that makes restaurant ordering an adventure, but Dillon was happy to answer all my questions and help me navigate ingrediants and dishes with ease. I mentioned that I did not consume Dairy ( not an allergy but a health preference) and he took note to share with the kitchen staff, as well as, helped me narrow down what I could and could not include in my orders After about 5 minutes, Salome (sp?) one of the managers stopped by to advise me that she was aware of the request about the dairy, had confirmed with the BOH the appropriate adjustments to make and advised what would not be on my plate and what would be. I was impressed by their sensitivity to this and felt like less of an inconvenience based on their obvious willingness to kindly accommodate my request. The full tables food was out around 8 minutes later, and minus one small personal request for extra crisp on the bacon wrapped shrimp there was not any issues with the food. Their delivery was fast and thorough. My meal of Camarones Tijuana with Beef fajitas was perfectly cooked and delicious. The runner who helped Dillon was fast and efficient. I don't expect anything but good service and excellent food from Pappas brand restaurants, but I thought this bust was worth noting as being excellent all around, would suggest this location and Dillion as a server to anyone I know. read more

I felt like this place was alright. It does get busy during lunch especially peak time as we had to wait 20 minutes. If you are in a rush, then do not go to this place as we waited for 20 minutes and then to get the food takes quite some time like 40 minutes for a party of 5. Here are some tips, the first batch of chips were awesome as I they were nice and fresh and salsa was awesome. Their guacamole I was a little disappointed as I wish it was more smashed up as you got an avocado in there and some onions, tomato and lime. We did get another batch of chips, but these ones were just plain terrible and way different as they were overcooked. So I stopped eating the chips. Price wise, you are going to be paying quite a bit. I got one of the cheapest meal on the menu which was the famous burrito and it was okay you get refried beans and rice. The burrito is sprinkled in sauce and has just beef in it and that was it and nothing else. I asked for guacamole on my burrito, but did not get it, but I would say the beef was very good and tender which was a plus. My manager ended up paying for the meal, so that was a plus so I did not see if they charged me extra for the guacamole even though they did not give it to me. Overall, here is my take the food is pricey for Mexican as dishes can range from $13 to $29 dollars depending on what you get and you feel it is more of a fine dining Mexican place. Atmosphere was nice and it gets crowded at lunch. If you are planning on getting in and out do not plan on it and plan on staying there for 90 minutes. read more

We always go to the Richardson location because it's the closest to us, and it is ALWAYS busy... But for a reason! The staff is always very kind and attentive, never hesitating to bring us more chips or tortillas for our fajitas. The fajitas at Pappasito's are AMAZING. I highly recommend going for Fajita Wednesday (it's so cheap)! We went for my birthday this month and I kindly asked the waiter to not send employees to my table to sing to me (I get so embarrassed!), and he accepted... BUT, he went out of his way to still make it a memorable birthday for me and let me wear the birthday sombrero and lit a candle for me to blow out with my free ice cream! So fun! read more
