My cousin and I had a delicious meal at Patsy's this summer. We ordered the fried green tomatoes for an appetizer, and they were very flavorful! For the entrée I ordered shrimp and grits. I've had shrimp and grits at many restaurants along the east and gulf coasts, and this is definitely top five. My cousin ordered the strip steak and thought it was good. Unfortunately we did not have great service this visit, but hey restaurants get busy, so I wouldn't use this service experience as a reason not to return as the food really was very good! read more

Robin is a talented chef and creates the most memorable and unexpected dishes always with the freshest locally grown and raised ingredients. Delicious! We have come to Bethany Beach three years in a row, and always visit the same highly rated restaurants. Patsy's was by far the star. Our server - Mike - was great - excited about the menu and recommended superb dishes and very good wine. Of the four entrees that our group ordered, three were especially good - Cuban pulled pork with plantains, Red Snapper whole (amazing) and blackened Mahi Mahi on a bed of veggies with a light tomato broth. So enjoyable to experience a restaurant that consistently brings its A game. For dessert, the tres leches was incredible/ A+. The peach cobbler was also very good. Enjoy! read more

The best restaurant in Bethany, and one of the best anywhere in the area! Sit on the porch and get a champagne mojito and amazing food. I've had crabcakes, softshells, lobster, tuna tartare, and more here and everything is always perfectly prepared. So I've gone here for the past 5ish+ summers when in the area for vacation and other times would have given 4-5 stars. Not sure if we were there on an off night or what but was extremely disappointed in the whole experience. Got there and sat at the bar for drinks while waiting for our table. Got my usual favorite the caipirinha and it was... Warm. So odd. For dinner we started with the conch fritters and corn and crab chowder there's your two stars. Delish! For dinner my fiancé had the underwhelming skirt steak (on special) and I had the blackened shrimp watermelon feta salad (special also). Steak and shrimp were both over cooked and over seasoned. Salad wasn't tossed properly as all the dressing was blobbed in the middle. And on top of that service was dismal. Waitress seemed to be annoyed to wait on us and it wasn't even busy! Anyway sorry to say we probably won't be going back. Sad that an old favorite had to turn into something disappointing. read more

This place is incredible! I was sad when they were all out of the rockfish special so I ordered the Softshell Crab BLT and it rocked my world! The andouille sauce was divine and everything tasted very fresh! I have a small appetite and I never finish my food when I go out for dinner, but I was ready to lick my plate clean at this place! I tried my friend's whole tempura snapper and it was so delish! The creme brule was ok. I'd rather have one of their chocolate martinis for dessert! read more

Alright food. I had the panko crusted eggplant and my husband has the LBT- a lobster and B and T. Mine was pretty good and he said his was a bit bready and lacked lobster. Would we return.... Maybe. Arrived with 9 people for dinner Tuesday night and were seated in this charming, eccentrically decorated restaurant in a matter of minutes. The menu includes a bio of the chef that brags a bit about how good she is, so I was a little concerned that the food wouldn't live up to the hype. I was wrong. It is great. Among us all we had the best calamari any of us have ever had, in a really interesting Asian dipping sauce, so different from the traditional marinara. Also had spicy guacamole and chips and fabulous fried green tomatoes with pesto and goat cheese that even my 13 year old loved. Delicious French bread was provided and refills willingly brought. Our server, Bob, was highly enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the food. He advised in everything from drink selection to helping the kids choose between peanut butter pie and chocolate cake for dessert. Every time we needed him, he was right there at our service. All 9 of us for something different for dinner and all of us loved it. I can't remember everyone but I know we ordered the tuna, soft shell crab, shrimp and grits (mine and delicious!) a salad with shrimp, steak (cooked perfectly to order) and mussels. It was all perfect and we were all really happy. After fighting over the French fries that came with daughter 1's steak, the kids settled on chocolate cake for dessert and were so delighted with it, they took pictures to keep forever ( silly kids). Some of us, having read the reviews of the key lime pie ordered it and reported that it is just as good as everyone says. Thanks, Patsy's, for a great, great, meal. read more

Bethany local here ... Patsy's is great, a little pricy, but great! The dining area is small, make reservations in season. Parking is the typical in-town competition, so add the park mobile app to your phone. We went for the Thursday fixed menu special, which is probably an off-season thing only. What a deal! Salad, choice of three entrees, and two desserts for $23! Since we were a party of three, we each got one of the special entrees. While we thought the crawfish pot pie was overly salty, we loved the lobster mac and cheese and the Old Bay fried chicken and waffles! I'm not a huge mac and cheese lover, but even I had to admit it was fabulous. No cheating out on the ingredients here. Quite a lot of lobster. The Old Bay in the fried chicken batter was subtle and just enough to be a good finishing back flavor. The waffles weren't just drizzled with maple syrup ... oh no ... it was a surprising and creative blend of maple syrup, what tasted like sweet Thai chili and shavings of scallion. Loved it! For dessert we, of course, order both choices; warm brownie with vanilla ice cream & key lime pie. Both were wonderfully and amply-sized. I understand that the non-prefixed dessert sizes are enormous. Our cocktails didn't disappoint either. The ruby red martini and the apple martini were delicious and very high octane! We switched to their beers on tap and a bottle of wine from their good selection. Service was relaxed and friendly. We were there in October of '16 so there were few patrons. The staff had ample time to interact with us in a non-rushed manner. Very friendly. Patsy's is now on my list of places I recommend to visitors. read more

Based on the other reviews, I really wanted this to become our must stop at Bethany. Unfortunately, it didn't work out that way. Our waiter, although very nice, forgot half the specials and we felt left out after we ordered listening to another waiter talk and talk about the specials and what the chef could do for another table kids. Our waiter then spilled a drink, while another accidentally bashed his elbow off my mother's head as he walked by. The environment has so much potential but they have too many workers bumping into one another and trying to squeeze by it's almost comical. Last but not least was the food. A good meal can cure a multitude of sins. Regrettably the food at Patsy's did not. I would say it was creative but nothing to make us return. read more

The food here is fine, better than average even. And our server was lovely. But don't come for a restaurant experience. In summer, they want you in, take your money, and then they kick you out. We had a reservation at 6:00 p.m., and when 7:45 rolled around, the manager came and said we had to haul it. Take your $40 after dinner drinks and sit in the back yard if you like, or pay for them anyway and leave. Mind you, the convo with my girlfriend right then was going great, things were looking up, and then bam. Things could literally not have gone worse from then on. The crazy thing is, we'd been thinking of having every meal during our vacay at this place, just to avoid the hassle of finding another place. Nope. No way. Guess I'll just have to try the rockfish somewhere else. Or maybe not, because after this, I don't think I have girlfriend. Eat here if you like. Make it snappy though. read more

Our group came in early on a summertime weekday before the crowd. Terrific attentive service in a Key West looking, 20+ Table small restaurant. Quality service from an on-the-ball staff. Steak, Cuban Pork (mmmmm moist, almost BBQ-like) crabcakes, fresh seafood, presented with flavor & finesse. Get in by 6pm & you'll be glad you did! Everything was exquisite! Drinks, appetizers, and entrees were enjoyed by all!! We shared two appetizer specials: fried green tomatoes and grilled peach halves with goat cheese and prosciutto. The flavor combinations were out of this world. For entrees, we had the crab cakes, the scallop dish, and soft-shell crabs. Verdict: one of the best crab cakes in the area! The scallop entree with the coconut rice was bursting with flavor and the soft-shell crab was pan seared which was even better than the typical fried version. We went to Patsy's last night for dinner. There were 10 of us. We were looking forward to seeing our dear friends from home (Maryland). We've lived in Millsboro, DE for going on 8 years now. Having friends come to town and finding a great place to eat with them that has great service, great food and great atmosphere during the peak season, sometimes is a challenge. When we were trying to decide where to go, our friend had googled "top restaurants in Bethany" and Patsy's popped up. So our destination was set! Upon arrival, we waited in line as soon as they opened at 5:30, as they don't take reservations. They promptly set our table inside for 10. They had a great list of specials, and the waitress went over them all with us, but it was so loud in there, we had a hard time hearing what she was saying. Poor girl would've had to actually yell to make it any better, but we all had the specials list in front of us, so we knew what she was trying to say anyway. It actually got comical after a while. So anyway, we ordered our appetizers which included the Mexican Shrimp Cocktail, calamari, smoked bluefish pate' and grilled apricots with prosciutto and balsamic reduction and conch fritters. I know it sounds like a lot, but there were 10 of us, and we were starving! Oh, and hot bread a couple of times as well! We then ordered our dinners. I got the seared tuna special with a seaweed slaw over a black rice cake drizzled with an aioli sauce that was out of this world! The tuna was cooked perfectly medium rare. My husband got the crab cakes with the granny smith apple slaw, which I had to taste, and it was fabulous! Others got the eggplant (2 diners were vegetarian), NY strip steak, Cuban pork, Softshell crabs (huge and meaty, and looked awesome!), scallops and fish tacos. There wasn't a bite left on anyone's plate! Some got the cobbler and key line pie for dessert, but I was so full, I just couldn't do it, as much as I wanted to! They raved about the desserts as well. Our server was wonderful. I wish I knew what her name was, but every other server in the place was just as nice as the next. They all had a little chit chat with us at one point or another, which gave an inviting atmosphere to the whole experience. Its not a big place. It has charm, it's beachy and it has perfect service. I highly recommend giving this place a try. It is on the pricey side, but if you want good food, you get what you pay for. Patsy's had a wonderful menu with a variety of fresh summer items. We ordered the chef's special; a flash fried whole snapper. The fish was fresh but lacked much taste and the accompanying sauce was salty and strong. Other dishes we ordered were not stand outs for the price. We ate here for the first time tonight and really enjoyed it. The crab cakes are pretty incredible. My husband (from MD) said they were some of the best he's had. I liked them with the apple slaw. My halibut was very good and I enjoyed that it was a healthy option with the quinoa and olive tapenade. Save room for the homemade key lime pie dessert. It was excellent. Very sad experience from service to food. While seated promptly, it took 10 minutes to get water after I waved down a hostess. Many minutes later our waitress arrived who very quickly reviewed specials. She did note that the special soft shell crab was small and suggested crab cake. Crab cakes had little taste and my husband's special pork was dry and tasteless. At $30 per entree you're better off at a fast fish restaurant. The lattice work with the view of another restaurant's detritus doesn't help but good service and good food would have negated this. read more

We arrived at Patsy's on the late side last night when tables were beginning to clear out - no wait! Despite a near empty restaurant, after ordering, we waited 70 minutes for dinner to arrive. The soft shell crabs - a signature dish - were very over cooked and basically terrible. They had obviously been sitting for a good portion of the 70 minute wait. Our waitress Kate was very professional and seemed apologetic. I hope she carried my message to the chef that the soft shell's were overcooked and rubbery. No compensation offered other than an apology! Probably won't go back. read more

Our family loves Patsy's! When we're at Bethany Beach, we go here almost every night. We've tried most things on the menu and everything is delicious. This Key West inspired restaurant has a relaxed feel and very friendly service. Try the Cuban pork or any of the seafood specials, the gazpacho, and the amazing key lime pie. This is always a date night spot for my husband and I when we visit Bethany. The salads are always fresh and delicious. We both enjoyed our first taste of wild boar at Patsy's and it was mouthwatering and cooked to perfection. Sunday brunch is always my husbands favorite when we get our chicken and waffles which are sooooo yummy. We both crave this during our visits to Bethany. Extremely disappointing dinner. We waited 1.5 hours while tables all around us were promptly being served. Had to request bread three times. Skirt steak special arrived cold and very tough, mostly inedible. After a detailed discussion about having shrimp grilled and unseasoned on my salad, shrimp arrived way too spicy for me to eat at all. Most disappointing was that no one cared at all at the dismal food and service we received. No one apologized. There was no effort to offer a complimentary beverage, dessert or any modification to our outrageous bill. This is the first time I have ever posted a negative review of a restaurant. Ever. After reading positive reviews and what seemed like a doable option with children, we were excited to try this place out. Well, if you have the kids with you, hope you do not run into the same hostess that we did when we tried to get a table. We politely asked how long the wait was and she looked us over with our kids and gave a vague - it is VERY long. i asked, about how long? I can't tell you. it'll just be a Long time. and gave us an obvious look of- we don't want you coming to eat here tonight. to be fair, it was a crowded night, but let us decide whether we want to wait it out or give it a go in a crowded restaurant. taking our name and giving us an estimated time would've been fine. we might've decided on our own we didn't want to deal with the wait. read more

Went to Bethany a beach for the evening and came across this restaurant. Now, let me preface this with the fact that the food was very good and our waitress was also very nice... However, everything around us was a complete shit storm. When we arrived, we were seated quickly inside the dining area. We then waited at least 7-8 minutes (using the timer on a phone) for any of the wait staff to even acknowledge our existence. Which, if we had been in a corner table, may have been slightly better. But, we were literally in the middle of the dining area and approximately every 5 seconds (dead serious) a server was walking by us. Eventually, a waitress came to our aid and apologized by stating that the (teenager) who sat us did not alert the staff. We ordered and our food was great. However, in between our appetizer and main course a group of 9 came into the small dining area and literally SURROUNDED our table and then proceeded to be loud and obnoxious about wanting to be sat. This fiasco went on for at least 5-10 minutes. Then, when the obnoxious, rude people were sat they continued to make rude remarks, including griping about the fact my fiancé ordered a whole fish. I literally could not believe the wretched behavior of this group of people. So, although the food and server were great, not sure I'd be willing to take a risk to go back again. When I'm spending $100 on a nice meal, I expect a certain grade of experience. read more

Had the worst experience at Patsy's tonight. We arrived at around 6:15, and were one of very few tables outside. The waiter was inattentive at best. The tables that were seated after us were served a significant amount of time before us. By the time I got up to ask for the bill, our food finally came out, after the waiter quite insincerely apologized saying he can't control what the kitchen does. I've been a waitress and you have to advocate for your tables. Also, he never came by to explain the delay. I had to ask for bread. We were there for an hour and 15 minutes before we were served. We've counted Patsy's as one of our favorite restaurants, but no more! We go to the beach once a year and look forward to positive experiences. We were so disappointed! read more

A local friend suggested that my friends and I try this place when looking for a place for my birthday. It was very quaint and crowded, so did not accommodate a large group well. The food was OK, and the drinks the same - definitely doesn't live up to some of the reviews on here. I probably will not return here, which is a shame because the location is great. We had a great dinner here last night. The food was well executed an the service was friendly and attentive. We tried the gazpacho, grilled peaches, soft shell crabs, and cioppino. Although I usually don't care for gazpacho with big chunks of veggies vs. small dice, the ingredients were all very fresh and it really worked. The grille peaches with goat cheese, prosciutto and herb salad was delicious and the ingredients were in good proportion to each other. The soft shell crabs were local and cooked perfectly with a flavorful lemon aioli and delicious slaw. I don't usually go for slaw, but it was light and went really well with the crab. The cioppino, although not spicy, was very flavorful and a ton seafood. The broth was very good and brightened with fresh herbs. read more

It was horrible..I wish I could give it zero stars. The service was horrible only checked on us once. We sent to meals back, but the lady didn't even ask why. The bartender was un sanitary, and didn't know the proper amounts. The bread was cold. Didn't refill our drink. To many servers. Waited a longtime for our food. Overpriced.
