Paul's place waivers between 3 and 4 stars depending on what you order. And with a menu as large as theirs, I'm sure there are a couple of 2 star items on there as well. Like the french fries.....As listed on Dictionary.com "Boring -1. causing or marked by boredom. 2. the french fries at Paul's Place" But I digress.... I've tried many things at Paul's Place, but it has become of one my favorite places for salads. Specifically their Gyro Salad. It's a mixed green salad with lots of tasty Gyro meat and Feta Cheese. They have an excellent Greek dressing (not some Italian stuff posing as Greek) and a very good Tzatziki sauce for dipping. The pita bread is tasty since it's quickly thrown on the grill with all the hamburger's, etc...just to get it lightly browned and warmed. For those of you vegetarians out there that always wondered why Paul's Place Pita's taste soooo good, sorry to spoil your fun. Other salads of note are the chef salad which is laden with Ham and Turkey. They have a good ranch dressing that goes well with the chef. The Chicken Salad, is actually a grilled chicken breast on top of a salad, rather than a mayo based chicken salad. Great flavor to their grilled chicken breasts (again due to throwing it on the same grill with hamburgers, bacon, etc..). They have a Greek Salad, which is similar to the Gyro salad, but no meat. Extra Feta cheese and marinated roasted red peppers. All their salads have a hard boiled egg and 1/4 of avocado on them, which is a nice touch. When I'm not fooling myself that I'm eating a "healthy" salad here, I have tried the burgers, pastrami, hot dog, grilled cheese, omelets, scrambled eggs, hash browns, etc...Nothing has really stood out to me as, oh my I have to eat that at only this location. Don't get me wrong nothing was bad, but just 3 stars and kind of unspectacular. The Pastrami has a major flaw in the way it's served. They wrap it tightly in a foil wrapper. This holds in all the steam and it makes the bread absolutely soaking wet. I think if they fixed this, they would have a good sandwich because it was pretty flavorful pastrami. But as it is now, you might as well run it under a tap. I can however recommend the chicken strips, fried up perfectly with a slight peppery batter to them, they are good. Just something else to dip in their ranch dressing. Just like the chicken breast on the salad, you can't go wrong with the chicken sandwiches either. Because of their diverse menu, Paul's Place is a great place to take a crowd. They have outdoor seating which can accommodate quite a few. They also have a drive thru, which isn't that fast since it's all cooked to order, but it's a nice option to have. read more

Warning: Portions are HUGE! For any first timers, basically, you order your food, grab your number, sit down, and wait for the waiter/waitress to bring you your delicious food. What do I like to order here? The chicken quesadillas and onion rings! The chicken quesadillas always come dripping with grease and overstuffed with juicy pieces of chicken and ooey gooey, stretchy cheese. One order comes with sour cream, salsa, guacamole, lettuce, and tomatoes. Onion rings are pretty darn amazing as well. Nicely fried, crunchy, flavorful, absolutely perfect with ranch. Tried the chili cheese fries and they were the worst I've ever tasted. They had almost a nutmeg or cinnamon taste to them. I couldn't even eat half my order they were just so bad. I have been going to this place since High School. The place is ten minutes away from my house. When I am not hungry but want something to leave me satisfied I go for the veggie burger with avocado on a wheat bun, it is so good with the sauce. This place is so great. The hamburger combo is so tasty and just so GOOD. I love the fries from here too. The breakfast burritos from here are so freaking good, and huge, you can easily split it with someone. The breakfast burritos had egg, cheese, and hash browns with either bacon, sausage, ham, or chorizo. And it's only like 5 bucks. And it comes with a really good salsa. This review is basically about breakfast burritos. They also serve breakfast till like 1pm on Saturday that I know of. The service is nice here too, the clerks are waitresses are nice and speedy. Alright, I give up, this is the best steak sandwiches hands down. I tried out all the other small diners in the area and none could meet the quality of this joint. The girl working the drive thru was so rude it was ridiculous... Her name was Andrea and she wasn't wearing a name tag (I'm not sure if any of the employees have name tags here) They charge debit cards as credit so they require photo ID but I didn't have photo ID on me so she says "Yeah. We need photo ID so.." She didn't greet us when we pulled up, saw we were unhappy with her attitude so she was trying to act busy so she can ignore us. When she clearly saw we were holding out cash for her. She finally checks us out, says "Your change" and LEAVES THE CHANGE ON THE DRIVE THRU WINDOW AND WALKS AWAY. The drive through was busy so I went inside to order for Togo. I was the first one in line, I thought cool this would be much faster than waiting in the drive through. Ordered 3 cheese burgers and 3 fries the girl at the counter said it would take 15-20 minutes.. Took 40 minutes to get the food so I opened the box that they handed to me to take to go to discover that they didn't give me 3 orders of fries that I paid for ?! Come on.. Last weekend, I was on my home from a late night basketball game with a friend, and I was extremely hungry. My friend was just as hungry, and so he convinced his parents to drive us to get dinner. Since it was around 9:30 at night, our options were limited, and so Jake, my friend, suggested Paul's Place, which he and his family visited frequently. I had heard them rave about Paul's Place in the past, and so I went along with the choice. From the outside, the restaurant was nothing special. As expected, the parking lot was empty, and there was no line for food. The inside of the restaurant was extremely well kept and it even almost looked like an east coast diner. I asked Jake what I should order, and he suggested the double bacon cheese burger. The cashier was uncommonly enthusiastic given the time of day, and the entire crew was exceptionally personable. As Jake ordered, his dad began to strike up a conversation with the chef and they seemed like they were friends by the way they talked to each other. I ordered the double bacon cheese burger and decided to throw in an order of chili cheese fries since I was not paying. As I made my journey to the soda machine, I noticed the uncommon abundance of drink choices. I originally chose the usual sweetened iced tea, but after one glass decided to examine a weird looking orange drink, of which I do not remember the name. The one thing I do remember is that the drink tasted like an orange creamsicle, and it was definitely the greatest drink I ever tasted. I have yet to discover another restaurant with an orange creamsicle drink. After our complicated drink choosing, we selected a nice, comfy booth to lounge in. The food was delivered to our table almost immediately after we sat down. The burger highly exceeded my expectations, as I thought it would be just like any average burger. Both burger patties were giant and tasty, and the bacon topped it off perfectly. The chili fries were astounding, and they were even better since I did not share them. We cleaned our table, and as we walked out of the restaurant, the chef came out of the kitchen to say goodbye and thank you. Overall, Paul's Place in Anaheim is wonderful. Nothing special here. First time and last time we will be going here. We ordered for a family of 8. Came out to about $100. $12 for chicken tenders and fries. Very very very bland. It's sooo yummy especially with the salsa. the steak used to be really good but I think they recently changed up the type of steak which I'm no longer a fan of. It used to be like sirloin steak, but now it's more like Carne asada. it also comes with hash brown, eggs, and toast so still pretty good for the price. Minus 1 star for the long wait time. I usually go through the drive thru which can take 30 to 45 minutes even with only 3 cars waiting ahead of you. If you do go through the drive thru, prepare to wait!! This area of Anaheim gives off a gyro/felafel vibe, but we haven't found anything worthwhile, and ever since the horrible experience at Sahara Felafel we've been a little gun shy. So I Yelped "gyros" this morning just to see what others had to say, and the top two contenders were Willy's and Paul's Place. I pass Paul's everyday on my way to work and never tried it, and figured the "gourmet" part was a joke. I picked Willy's. Willy was closed. Closed all day sunday, and only open until 3pm during the week. Good luck pulling customers with that sked, Willmeister. So we drove back to Paul's, ordered gyros, which we were informed had "strips of meat" in them when we asked what kind of meat, and took our seat. The interior of Paul's is actually pretty nice for the area, and they bring the food to your table Carl's Jr-style. The gyros (plus mystery meat strips) were enormous, and one order of fries covered us both. The gyros are delicious. Fantastic, fresh-tasting veggies, yummy mystery meat, hot flaky pita, and the yogurt sauce is on the side. Perfect. And not only delicious, but two huge gyros, one order of fries, two drinks and a shake set us back a mere $17. I'm glad Willy buggered off for the day, and I plan to stop here pretty frequently after work, making it just that much harder to buckle my seat belt. Damn my American obesity. Go Paul's! read more

I like Paul's Place, but this time I decided to try something different. I ordered the Greek Chicken Dinner. There was a big portion of Chicken with rice, pita bread, and a Greek Salad. The salad was good. I happen to like the stinky cheese blocks that's always served with Greek salads. I don't like tomatoes or olives though. No problem; I just picked out what I didn't care to eat. I had it with Thousand Island dressing. My Greek ancestors would probably be a little pissed with me. The rice and bread were okay. The chicken had really good flavor on the skin. The rest of the chicken was very, very dry. The dinner was just okay. I've had much better food from Paul's Place. I probably won't have the Greek Chicken dinner again though. read more

Don't bother calling your order ahead for quicker service, you won't get it. It'll be the EXACT same situation as if you waited in the long drive thru line, maybe even slower. When I called to place an order for pickup, I was told 20-25 mins. I get there 30 mins from the time I called, I paid, then stood there for 25 mins waiting for my food. LITERALLY AS IF I NEVER CALLED AHEAD. Never again. I did notice a few things while I stood there watching food be prepared. -The guy at the frying station was wearing no gloves and would package fries by opening up the paper baggie with his hand, using the scoop to pop the fries in and any that fell over he'd pick up with his hands and place on top of the overflowing pile already in the baggie. Same guy also repeatedly touched his mask to adjust it. -One of the girls helping manage the drive thru, packaging the food and managing the register had gloves on but after running back and forth from one side of the floor to the other I noticed she didn't have them on anymore but still continued doing everything above, never put another pair on. -Only one guy had gloves on the entire time.
