The food here was FANTASTIC. the vodka penne was so creamy, rich and flavorful! We wiped the plate clean because the sauce was so yummy.The forastale pizza as well was DIVINE. I understand why it's a chefs favorite, one of my favorite pizzas I've ever eaten in my life - ask for some balsamic on the side, it was so good with this pizza. I have come here several times over the years, even before I moved nearby 10 years ago so I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place but, to keep things brief, I love it. The service here is great. I don't know how they always have so many staff when other places struggle to get help. I'm hoping it's because they're paid well and treated nicely. The prices are reasonable for this part of town. Last night, my husband, friend and I had drinks, appetizers, entrees and dessert and still got out of their for $80 a person, which is a steal in midtown. The food is very good. I like their pizzas and their pasta is solid. I'll be honest that it's not mind blowing and I have never said "this is the best X I've ever had" but it's consistently good and when combined with the great cocktails, superb service and fun environment, the whole dining experience is terrific. This is a place where tourists, locals and nearby businesspeople can mix and mingle and feel completely comfortable. The place is almost always hopping and they keep things moving smoothly. The service at the bar is somewhat slow but they are very busy, table service is hit or miss depending on your server but in general it's pretty good and staff is friendly and helpful. As far as ambulance, it is a standard Italian motif joint, relatively noisy and always busy. I don't think I have ever seen this place not packed. We've been there on previous trips to NYC and have always enjoyed the ambiance, the food and the HAPPY hour Mon-Friday. It's from 12:00 to 6:00. Two glasses of wine for $14.00. Can't beat it. Also two martinis for the price of one. We ordered the margarita pizza and I ordered a Pino noir and husband ordered a Michelob light. Love the pizza, as it is a super thin crust which we both love. It was so good! We actually went the next night and I ordered the chicken paillard wth arugula and cherry tomatoes. Very good. My husband ordered the steak skewers and the buffalo chicken strips. In fact, we ordered a round two because one portion was just not enough to share. The combination of the truffle flavor and fried garlic made these crispy potatoes irresistible. Delicious! I ordered the Lasagne di Casa ($28), which had ground beef, sweet sausage, spinach, and a blend of different cheeses. It was pretty standard but delicious nonetheless. I also tried the Pizza Quattro Formaggi ($22), which, as the name suggests, has a tasty blend of four cheeses on it. This pizza was made in an authentic style with a thin crust, and despite being thin, the crust was still easy to chew. For dessert, we got the Tiramisu ($10), which was delicious with chocolate sauce on top and a nice layer of cream on top of lady fingers. The service speed was decent and the staff were average friendliness. The place has lots of seating inside with a lively atmosphere. There is some nice decor with lots of framed photographs along the walls. It was quite busy on a Saturday night, but we were still able to quickly get a table without a reservation.
