    Curry Chicken patty
    Annie L.

Ordered a Curry chicken patty for lunch. Decent size and comes with a hot sauce. Warm with delicious curry chicken spilling out once you break it in half. Shareable if you're not super hungry. A great place to get a patty, get some sun, people watch.

    Jerk chicken plate with salad

Came here for lunch with some girlfriends. It is a outdoor kiosk that you order at the window and pickup when they call your name. There are about 4 tables that seat 2 that are covered/ sheltered and another 4 tables on the sidewalk. We all got the jerk chicken plate at it was so delicious! It came with a drum and thigh over rice and beans, side salad and plantain bananas. All of us enjoyed it and couldn't even finish the plate but I'm sure my husband could have finished it off. It was just the right amount of spicy coming from someone who is spicy sensitive which I'm sure spice lovers would say not spicy but flavorful. Parking was easy if you park at ProPark across the street, about 2 blocks away. Bring your ticket and ask for a validation sticker to make the visit more affordable

Amazing spot for jerk chicken! The meal plate comes with plantains, rice and beans, salad. The chicken thigh and drumstick is juicy and the jerk seasoning has a nice kick. Love the natural sweetness of the plantains and the side salad had a good vinaigrette. A very filling meal!

So many choices at the Farmers market so it's hard to know which to try. I decided to stop here since there was no line and the reviews looked good. I opted for the chicken curry empanada. It had a little heat to it and was filled with stuffing. I was pleasantly surprised. The shell was slightly different then others I had but I'm glad I tried it. Worth a try!

This place has been on my spot for a while and I was finally in the area for a concert, so I stopped by here and tried the beef patty and chicken curry patty. Pastry is flaky, buttery, beautifully colored. My friend and I agreed that the chicken patty is more flavorful than the beef patty. If you are sensitive to heat like me, then you may find these spicy. Nonetheless, these were delicious and the size are well worth their price. Also, congrats as I saw the Peaches Patties stand at Outside Lands!

First time eating here. I had the beef patty and the hibiscus drink. The patty was very moist, hot and fresh. They cook it when you order i believe. Service was fast and staff was friendly. I'll definitely buy a plate next time I'm in the area. They have a patio you can enjoy your food and its right in front of the Embarcadero ferry building. Its about a mile or so away from pier 39.

I had never had Jamaican food and the patties are so yummy! We sat outside to enjoy the beautiful sunshine and people watched while we had our patties. Definitely returning to try out more food items!

What's the best way to reach this business for catering? They don't seem to answer calls, phone messages or respond to online catering requests. I was hoping to cater BHM for a corporate event, but looks like I'll have to look elsewhere?

What a treasure tucked into the corner of Old Oakland! Excellent food! Super nice service! And great vibes! We came to watch Team Haiti play in the World Cup and even with a packed house the food came out fast! We got akra and empanadas to start. Fried and fried deliciousness! And the pikliz, a spicy cabbage pickle condiment was fire! The oxtail is the best I've had, and the vegetarian stew was delicious! I can't wait to go back! Extra huge thank you for the explicitly labeled gluten free menu!

Hello everyone, I have great news, I found the best Haitian Restaurant in the land, T'Chaka…read more This place is amazing, the walls are filled with what i can only assume is Haitian art, the service good. Don't expect a conversation from the young man, he seems to be about business. This particular day the chef came out to greet me and one of my employees who i was rewarding for a job well done. she noticed I had a bottle of her homemade hot sauce on my table, she smiled, a smile that would light any dark room, with glee she asked, do you like hot spicy food. I smiled back and oh yeah, she shook her head in delite, and said I have something for you to try. When she came back with our order, she also included a small taste cup of the hot sauce, the same as i was buying and a coleslaw for me to try, I wouldn't call me a regular there, however, I have been there about 5-6 times, (it is that good, everytime) The coleslaw i didn't give it a any thought, UNTIL, we split it between my friend and I, wow! Spicy coleslaw, to some coleslaw should be refreshing, not spicy, as a Mexican, we put chilly powder and lemon on fruit. So this was delightful spicy, sweet and still refreshing yum yum gimme sum! Let's talk chicken, the jerk chicken is what I always order, it has never let me down, spicy, juicy oh so tender falls right off the bone (literally) cooked to perfection , I didn't do a review before because I almost didn't want to share my favorite place, but, I guess I will, the rice and beans (rice and Pease) amazing flavor! Together it's magic, the hot sauce was great and my kids love it as ofcourse do I, but not for this meal, what this chicken didn't have, it didn't need (4real) the plate also came with a plantain, ( love plantains) and a Griot (I think) a fine meal for sure, enjoyed it sooo much just typing about it wants to make me go and get more, as a matter of fact once I'm done with this review, I am going to go back and get a "to go" plate for my boys, If you like spicy, and you like Great food, T'Chaka is the place to be. Location in the city of Oakland, but it's the good side of Oakland don't be fooled by the internet it is safe and friendly and worth the drive. 5 out of 5 CheeHoos

Everything sounds delicious but the sample plates pack the most punch. I love plantains so having those figure prominently, with delicious rice and plant based chicken, is perfect. The service is incredibly fast and easy, and being at Saluhall, you get to take advantage of other vendors and a full a bar. It felt a little quiet on a Friday night but places like Casa Borinquena definitely make it a destination for me. Go now if you've been waiting. Casa Borinquena is not to be missed.

Definitely go upstairs and explore Casa Borinquena. If you're wondering what Market Street has to offer, duck inside IKEA. There are many seating areas. Yes, in addition to IKEA's viral food court, there's so much more. Saluhall opened with all-vegan vendors but things have shifted back to meat and dairy. Case Borinquena is the last standing all-vegan stall. This is Caribbean soul food and it's so good. If you're looking for a salad or something light, this is not for you. This food will fill you up and leave you wanting more. Loaded Tostones is pumped up with nacho-ish toppings. Served with a thick and tasty mama sauce. I was dunking everything into that sauce. I opted for the side of tostones because I was craving the crunchy plantain. It was crisp perfection! Lulu's Famous Pastelillo filled with vegan beef or chicken was another winner for me. The dough was fried perfectly and I loved the chicken filling flavor. Chef's kiss. Coquito cake is on the menu! If you love eggnog, get this right now. I want to return for the sampler plate. At $20, it's cheaper than a flight to Puerto Rico. Pro-tip: first hour of parking is free!

4496 Broadway Oakland, CA 94611…read more The other day, I got a tip that the spareribs are really good at this restaurant. So I placed a pickup order thru Doordash, and used some credits I had on my account. I ordered for takeout: - Jerk Ribs w/ 3 sides - Sides= Rices & Peas (beans), Coleslaw, Mac 'n Cheese Now, it being Jamaican food, I was expecting something spicy or perhaps exotic flavors/spices. What I got was an order of BBQ spareribs. OMG, those ribs were "fall off the bone" tender. The rice and peas were tasty and moist. The coleslaw and mac 'n cheese were dry. I have ordered BBQ ribs from Everett & Jones, Flints, Famous Daves, and I made my own. These were good BBQ ribs with a mild sauce. Some of the other reviews state that the menu isn't 100% Jamaican food, and they are correct. Maybe it's Jamaican food and American soul food. Then BBQ ribs would be on the menu. If you're looking for Jamaican food, I guess it depends on what you order.
