Came here yesterday as it was our date night. Hubby was getting over a cold, so I did takeout. Plus, storm was kinda coming and going. Ordered (1) Reg. Meat Jun and (1) Meat Jun/Fish Jun Combo w/o rice so I could have one extra veggie. It's enough for 4 meals. We managed to wipe out half of our plates each and threw it into the frig for another day. Food is good, but not extraordinary. And that's okay. Great meal for a great price. $45 and change for two people, 4 meals. What a bargain. My suggestions to them... 1) Cut the meat jun in slices to make it easier to eat. It would only take seconds to do and still add much value. Just my opinion. 2) Give two portion cups of shoyu sauce. One is not enough, especially with the combo. Again, not a deal breaker, but for me, would've made a big difference in my satisfactory gauge. Service was great. They had so many orders and was going as fast as they could. While not super smiley or engaging, they were very pleasant and got the job done. That's enough for me. Waaaay better than it has to be. Get the Pearl Special for $24.99, only $2 more than the two item combo. The potions are HUGE. Our family of three ate the special. Well, my wife and daughter had like 20% then tapped out, I had the other 50%. Then... I forced myself to finish the last 30%, haha. Point is - it was more than enough food. I've been eating KBBQ for 30 years now and this was right up there. I'm honestly shocked at some of the lower reviews, I honestly don't get it. People mentioned wait times. They're making freshly bbq'ed steak, it's not Panda Express with things sitting in heated bins. Ours took about seven minutes, which was fine. Also, our local place, a single entree is $20 for just a little meat. This was like 6x that for only $25. We were here yesterday for the 5x Hawaiian Miles event. If you spent at least $100 at Kahala Mall you would get 500 Hawaiian Miles. The hubby and I went shopping at the mall and got our miles. We picked up dinner from Pearl's. I've eaten at other Pearl's location, but it was my first here. The food was very good. Everything was well marinated. The veggies were fresh and the potatoes were well seasoned. We shared two plates: the mini kalbi plate $18.49 and the regular garlic chicken plate $18.49. While their food is quite good their SERVICE is horrible. They routinely disconnect themselves from their online ordering service and there have been several instances in which they have let the phone ring and ring. I've tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but when I've gone in the restaurant I've seen them COMPLETELY IGNORE the ringing phone. And it's not because they are that busy. I've tried to address this privately via email and have always received the same response; "We will be sure to address the situation". Yet nothing changes. Today was the final straw. Last night I placed an online order for two plates. When I got home one of the plates had NO MEAT. I called and was told they would "replace it". Today I returned to pick up my replacement plate only to be told that they were only giving me the chicken, no sides, no starch. Banchan... Love Pearl's in Kahala as not many places offer the choices to make your plate truly your own, but who doesn't have their own favorite as I do find myself diving into the banchan before the entree itself. Pearl is found in Kahala Mall in the area that's more designated for all things food and they are constantly busy as I noticed that immediately arriving there and decided to wait and shop at another store only to return to the line doubled in size. Very priced reasonable and is super yummy is why many do flock over and as I was craving something from here it was more that I was tired from a long day at work and though do still have some food at home decided to grab their "Vegetable Plate" which is just the side of banchan items and without rice will give me an extra choice making it a great assortment of side dishes as I got both shoyu and mayo potatoes, long rice, choi sum, cucumber Kim Chee. With that I had zero wait and got my plate immediately which made it an easy dinner support with a good amount of leftover for another night, and it's hilarious that there's no pics as this was a sign that I was too tired and hungry but they do have a great assortment of choices and made a perfect addition for the evening. My boyfriend, my daughter, her friend and I came here for the first time to eat dinner. Thanks to my boyfriend, he treated all of us for dinner. You basically order and tell them your sides. I ended up getting the meat jun with corn, potato salad, cabbage and broccoli. The meat jun was cooked perfectly and there was a bed of rice underneath. I even had leftovers to take home. So good and filling. There's tables inside to eat your food. The fountain drinks were Pepsi products so I ended up drink raspberry iced tea. So good. Highly recommend. Don't get me wrong, I really like their food here (especially their potato banchan). However, the tab gets a little bit high if you order enough plates. We recently ordered 4 plates and 2 orders of mandoo and our tab was about $99 and some change. We came closer to the end of the day and the cashier (Precy was listed on the receipt) said very shortly that they were not going to make more potatoes. Super sad news for a potato lover like myself. The staff here is not friendly at all which is partially resulting in the lower rating on my end. They are short and rude when retrieving your order. Make sure you have your receipt, if you don't they will act like they don't remember you (or maybe they don't remember you) and make it difficult to get your order. The ambiance is very dreary. It's very much a come order, pick up your food, and get out establishment. Like I said, food is super yummy for your Korean fix with the great bachan. I guess I can no longer edit my previous review. To sum it up, I found a screw in my chicken order and made a complaint online. The very next day corporate contacted me and apologized. They wanted to investigate this and I sent some pictures to them. They notified the manager at the location so that it doesn't happen to anyone else. I am really glad at the speed at and concern that they displayed. They thoroughly checked their kitchen and ensured me that they will do their best so that this does not happen to anyone else. Been coming to this store when it was on the other side of the mall but not until they moved to the back parking lot side did I come to appreciate their cooking. Now, they're my favorite place to order from here in Kahala Mall. What's to like? I like the variety of Korean dish plate lunch offerings, numerous side dish selections, the amount of food provided for most items, and the easy to access location with parking right outside. I'm usually ordering one of the following: Meat Jun Fish Jun Seaweed soup The first two come with choice of four side dishes; the third is a major soup I guess so it just comes with rice (even though the sign says it comes with side dishes, there's another sign on the counter that gives this exception). My favorite Korean foods are meat jun followed by kalbi, and when I get their meat jun in front of me, I'm in heaven. This deep yellow, egg-batter encased fried meat is flavorful soft and easy to enjoy. The taste is thoroughly yummy so you really don't need any dipping sauces unless you're looking for a spicy kick. The fish jun is a pretty good-tasting white fish (often mahi mahi) that I wish were much thicker slices, for the number of pieces provided is less than meat jun so you might feel a bit hungry after finishing this plate. The seaweed soup has great big deep rich beef brothy flavor and the seaweed has some firmness to it yet is simply al dente tender and soft. Consider yourself lucky if your plate comes with sides! Typical sides available; all are well-seasoned, mostly Korean-style: Chop chae Fried rolled egg Kim chee Shoyu potato Cabbage Choy sum Bean sprouts Broccoli Cucumber kim chee Seaweed Corn (kernels) My favs are cucumber kim chee, chop chae, egg, broccoli, seaweed, cabbage, choy sum. I wish the chop chae was not just noodles only but also prepared with veggies and thin short meat slices sprinkled with black sesame seeds. Considering it's a smaller store and although there are three rows of tables, it does not feel cramped to me. As one enters the establishment, the left side facing the back end is the order counter/cashier, the middle area showcases their many delectable side dish choices so you too can see what you will be getting and how much, and the right side area is the pick up counter. Then, right of this main front counter is the soda beverage machine. Ppl waiting for their orders tend to hang out in this area between the front counter and the soda machine. Me? I just walk back to the entrance area where I can still hear my order number loud and clear. The order-pick up process: place order on left side of long counter inside store, pay at same time, select side dishes if any, wait to the side until your number (bottom of receipt) is called, pick up on right side of long counter. At pick up, let them know if you need chopsticks or a fork (they might ask you first). You'll also be given a knife for meat dishes and a spoon for soups. Napkins will be included. Your food containers will be placed in a plastic bag with utensils and napkins on top. Sauces will be placed inside or inside the food boxes. Before leaving as at any other restaurant, it's a good idea to inspect your order to ensure you received the items and to ensure you are satisfied with the contents. The packing person will usually show you the contents before placing in the bag for you. THIS is the time to inspect! Prices - As expected bc of the Bidenflation and his administration's artifically-caused shipping issues, prices are ridiculously and astronomically high. I look forward to the day when soon this unwanted problem will be gone for good. However, despite the higher prices, this restaurant really does their best to fill your plate to the brim. Pearls and yummys BBQ are just too busy And the quality of the food is going down. When they give you burnt black kalbi and meat juhn that so thick and chewy and you don't realize it because it's put in a big plastic bag with your other orders then it's time to look around and I found a place in Manoa market place in back of longs that serves the tenderest meat jun and kalbi with great flavor and so succulent. This Kahala Mall location serves great food and sides. This time I ordered online Bi Bim Bap without the cabbage substitute for their shoyu potato. I go here at least once a month because it is fairly inexpensive and there are no other Korean BBQ places in the Kahala area. Their BBQ chicken has a very good flavor. The big problem is that the BBQ beef is extremele variable. Flavor is excellent but beef quality ranges from good to awful. On my latest purchase, I bought the beef because they were out of chicken. More than 50% of the beef was gristle and totally inedible. The mac salad is basically flavorless but I have been willing to overlook it until now. read more

Well I originally was going to order Kalbi plate but last minute change my mind to their Vegi plate. It's a Friday so they was busy so I figured if I order their Vegi plate I didn't have to wait for my order . There was about 3 others customers waiting for their order and behind me there was also 4 more people ready to order . They practice safe distancing and also no inside dinning available right now. My Vegi plate consist of 2 scoop of rice, egg omelette, Kim Chee, and mayonnaise potatoes. Next time I'll order my Vegi plate without rice so I can get 2 more orders if vegetables. Food okay! Takes 45 min to get a plate! Thats a long wait. People before me complaining for wait time.

The one thing I gotta say about Pearl's Korean BBQ is that no matter which Pearl's restaurant you go to, I will say the food is pretty consistent. Last week when I got back from Maui, on my way home I decided to drop by Kahala Mall to pick up some food. Originally my plan was to go to the Panda Express, but since Panda's was closed, I had to come up with a plan "B', and Pearl's was just next door, so it worked out perfectly for me!!! Currently, Pearl's has a no sit down dining policy due to Covid-19 (which is understandable), so it's strictly just "take out", which is what I was planning on doing anyways. Upon walking into the restaurant, I was greeted right away, and after looking over the wall menu, I decided to get myself a BBQ Chicken plate. With your plate, you get to choose (4) sides, & a starch, but since I was cutting back on my starches late at night, I asked the girl if I could get an additional side, forgoing the starch. Of course it was not a problem........... The sides I ended up getting with my BBQ Chicken - 1. Long Rice Noodles 2. Kim Chee (automatic!) Da stinker, da better! Yum! 3. Choy Sum 4. Egg 5. Broccoli The food portions for their plates are pretty generous, as one plate makes (2) meals for me. Gina's is my family's go-to Korean bbq place, so I can't help but compare the food at Pearl's to Gina's. My mom and I got takeout on a Sunday at around 5p (an hour before they close) and the wait was about 15 minutes for a plate. I like that Pearl's has a wider range of side dishes than Gina's. The server was quick to take our order and banchan requests. The Regular Chicken Katsu Plate ($13.79) with the Shoyu Potatoes, Cabbage, Mac Salad & Choi Sum. The Chicken Katsu was sweeter and thicker than Gina's. The Cabbage and Choi Sum had lots of flavor which we were happy about, but the shoyu potatoes were HUGE and hardly had any sauce, making them very dry. Overall, the amount of food you get for the price is great - we had some leftovers for the following lunch. They can customize combos for you too, which is not explicitly advertised but lately I've always been getting the Kalbi & meat jun combo with no rice for an extra side dish. As for side dishes, their potato salad tastes phenomenal with the meat jun vinegary sauce and the leftover mayo-sauce from this tastes amazing with the Kalbi.
