I ordered a small oat milk horchata. The guy didn't know how to make it because after I left and walked a few blocks away, Hubby was sipping on the coffee while I fumbled for an item in my purse. I finally got to taste it and it didn't taste as if it had any horchata in it. It tasted like a regular latte but with oat milk. I felt ripped off paying nearly $6 for a cup of coffee that didn't taste like what it was suppose to be. I find the Peet's at West Portal to make better tasting specialty coffees and they really care about their craft when they mess up or made you wait too long. read more

The shop changed locations 4 years ago. what a difference. The old one was very uncomfortable and the service sucked. The new location has comfortable chairs. a cool garden on the wall ( Reminds me if the main airport in Singapore) is brightly lit and the staff is attentive. The cafe has good wifi, is clean and the prices are reasonable. I do not work on cafes (cafes are for chill, not work) but I would have no problem doing a meeting here if a client insisted on it. The Marina needed a new Peets and now we got one. I wish they had more food choice but that is ok. I have a good place to have tea and relax when I need to get out of the home office . This Peets location even have a park bench outside so you can enjoy your coffee, tea, pastry or whatever makes you happy. read more

Stopped in for my morning coffee. This was my first experience at any Peet's and I throughly enjoyed it. Very clean and welcoming. The aroma of coffee beans hits you as you walk in the door which is amazing. The atmosphere was a bit loud and the decor matched the ambiance. In my opinion the coffee quality (medium roast) seemed better than any Starbucks or dunkin doughnuts I've been to. I will for sure have to come back and see if it's consistent! read more

Peet's is always a good choice for coffee and tea lovers. I had a cup of their Café Domingo brew, and it was smooth as described. This location is prime and very spacious with a lot of seating available. The Interior space is properly managed and the decor is well thought of with natural light coming from a few roof windows. It can be busy at times, but seeing it flow like clockwork is part of its charm. You should definitly stop by of you're in the neighborhood and in need of a break. read more

Not one to give a bad review but thought it called for it this time. Dropped by Peet's for a latte and there was one person being helped to a multitude of gift cards in front of me. I waited 10 minutes while watching a total of 5 workers behind the counter and not one offered to help me. Not even asking to get my drink started. People started wandering in and given covid, I didn't feel comfortable waiting in line for who knows how much longer. This is hands-down my favorite coffee shop on Chestnut to work/study out of - the baristas are all awesome, the atmosphere is so nice (really tall ceilings, huge, open space, ample seating), and there are a ton of different drink/food options. Open until 9PM if you need to get sh*t done after work! :) Wi-Fi has generally been pretty decent for me (except when trying to stream videos), but this place can get pretty packed during peak hours/the weekend. I've never had to leave because I couldn't find a seat, though -- there's been a few times where I've done the awkward scouting from the corner and rushing to a table as soon as I see someone pack up, but have always been successful! read more

This definitely a nicer Peet's than what I am used to. They have a larger bar for coffee selections, two barrista stations, and a living wall on the back of the business. I will say that this place bleeds ambiance and tranquility . Food selection is similar to other Peet's so nothing new on that front. But I did enjoy taking a seat in low slung leather chair and for a short time enjoyed my coffee experience rather than the normal rush. Thank you Peet's for making my day less hectic even if the product gives me that last bit of energy to complete my day. I love Peet's, and would normally provide 5 stars, but this Peet's, I don't know what it is about the staff. Perhaps because it's really busy, but they do not make the iced matcha latte correctly. Rather than putting it in the blender like it is made, they use the milk frothy to create the blended look. I am sorry but as an avid Peet's iced matcha latte drinker, I know the difference. I have tried countless of times to let this place redeem themselves because it is my preferred location, but they just don't get it and I am forced to send it back over 2-3 times before they get it. I do not have this problem at ANY other Peet's. Please staff, make it the way it is supposed to be made and don't cut corners because you guys are busy, we can tell!! read more

Good news for Peet's is that this place seems to be constantly crowded. The space is really nice (one star for that). If you can find a spot it is nice place to hangout. Bad news for customers most of the staff has the personality of wet dish rags. Was in there yesterday and cashier was struggling to get the order correct. No biggie, but when drinks come out, we are missing one. (minus one star) I mention to the guy making the drinks and his response was it's not on the order as if it was my fault. (minus another star) (there was just one cashier and one dude making drinks at 3pm on a Friday afternoon and the place was getting slammed) I had the receipt and was able to show him and he gave me the drink. Odd part was no apology or hey we are really busy let take care of that. Whole thing was weird. So overall, I'd given Peet's on Chestnut 4 stars if staff had gotten order correct to start or handled mistake differently. Maybe I need to give them another chance, but with so many other options nearby, not sure when that will happen. Yesterday afternoon (Sunday, May 10), I watched as the people taking orders (woman with face jewelry, guy with long ponytail) did not greet, smile or respond to customers' pleasantries. The two Peets' employees were stone-faced. Customers greeted them, smiled, said 'thank you'...and there was coldness in return...no 'you're welcome', nada. Why do these people work in a coffee shop? Why would anyone hire them to work in their coffee shop? It was sad to see tourists in particular treated this way. Physically, this Peets has lots of seating and natural light. The espresso was great. Peets is one of the only places left in SF to get a real espresso (besides some Italian restaurants). The McHipster droids are replacing good espresso with acid water all over earth. Italy and Peets are the only hold-outs. read more

This Peet is like a bi polar Peet. Some day you got the best barista and like today I got psycho one. This barista chick who is obviously having a bad day should rethink her attitude. Totally a hit or a miss with this location. It's amazing how often you think that all coffee place should be a happy place. This is not at all true. Very cool place, in an ultra-trendy (and ultra-expensive) part of town. I had an iced Mocha, and it was fabulous. The service was great, even though they were pretty busy on a Saturday morning. However, it really bugs me that while I'm sitting here enjoying my really tasty coffee and continuously purchasing while I do my work, the two tables on either side of me brought food in from other restaurants, are taking up tables and haven't purchased a thing.
