Pei Wei is a step above Pick-up-Stix and about equal to Panda Express in my mind. That said, I've never been overwhelmed with the food which is why 90% of the time I go to any Pei Wei, I get the lettuce wraps. On this particular visit, I got the lettuce wraps which are lite and filling. That said, on this particular visit, I didn't experience one, but THREE mystery bites. I don't know if it was bone or what, but it was a turn off and I'm pretty much done with Pei Wei. I've been to 4 or 5 and most of the staff is surely at best and there really isn't anything on the menu that I like more than the lettuce wraps. I feel like I'm eating healthy when I come here. They have larger (original size) or smaller meal sizes of all their meals which I love! My food was great but the service, not so much. I ordered two rolls for me and a friend on lunch. The girl who helped us out at the register seemed rushed and didn't care to smile or make much eye contact. When we got our rolls the lady dropped them off and didn't mention which was which then said you can get your stuff inside and walked away. The rolls were delicious and it was after a busy lunch rush I assume but there's never a need for that kind of customer service even if you were just busy. I've never come here again after I came one day for lunch. I ordered lo-mein noodles, tried some friends' fried rice and other dishes, and was unimpressed. I was actually both unimpressed and put off by the fact my noodles were drenched in oil, and that I couldn't taste anything but mushy noodles in lukewarm oil. We wanted something that we didn't have in Norcal and since I was our last night; we wanted a sit down restaurant. The place had a nice ambiance but a casual setting. The prices seemed okay and it was an order at the counter experience. Once your order was up, they deliver it you. The entrees were what you would find at Panda/ Pick up Stix, but tasted a lot better. The Carmel Chicken dish I had ordered was not overly sweet, but very flavorful. I opted for the Fried rice and the veggies tasted great. They had the Coke Soda Wheel machines and I like the fact how you can walk up and grab Hot mustard, Chili pepper. Chopsticks, and Sriachi sauce on the condiment bar. There is also the convenience of grabbing your own to go boxes and other items you might need. They do offer some variety of Hot teas if that's your thing. It came out to $60 something for a family of 6 so it's a little modestly priced but it was a lot better than P express and Pick up Stix. I admit to loving me some Americanized Chinese. It's consistent and pretty darn efficient when you call in for 'Take Away'. Maneuvering the parking lot can be a bit tricky, but otherwise, it's cool. The ordertaker/cashier kept trying to upsell me for a $1 chocolate chip cookie. No thanks. Usually go for the Mongolian tofu & vegetables ('farm food' as my friend's hubby would remark) or the honey seared shrimp. Always request the brown rice. When I dine in, I end up making my own Arnold Palmers and adding in some orange slices. They also carry one of my fave hot tea brands, Revolution. Once the Pinkberry opens, I can only imagine how much more congested the parking lot will get. One tip, the lane that runs next to (right side when facing) and perpendicular to PW is a pretty straight shot to the main drag if you're trying to get back on Warner. Only one stop sign before getting to the right turn exit, and nary a pedestrian (or stoplight) in the way! read more

I came here because someone told me they had really amazing napkins...okay, that's not why I came, but that's what my girlfriend loves about this place. This place is sort of a hybrid between a casual fast food dining place (similar to a Panda Express or a Baja Fresh) and a real restaurant. Don't be confused - I'm only comparing the setup to Panda, the food is not like Panda at all. Okay, so they seat you and bring the food to your table, but there is no waiter and you pay before you eat. It's a nice alternative if you don't want to spend too much of a time commitment eating. However it can get busy at peek times so watch out! Anyway the food is quite good. I like their pad thai or sesame chicken - like some other reviewers said, you'd basically need a recipe on how to mess those up to mess 'em up! Unlimited suppy of fortune cookies (self serve) is a plus. What I don't like about this place is that its kind of dark here. This place is great, near our home, so close to so many shops so it's a great location. My husband and I come here often. We normally do take-out, we order online and we pick it up and the food is always packed well. Once we get home we really see no difference from when we eat at the restaurant, the food has great flavor and the portions are perfect. I normally get the Thai Dynamite and Chicken Lettuce Wraps. If you have any leftovers they still taste great when you heat them up the next day. This place is great if you are in a hurry, want flavorful food and yummy leftovers. This Pei Wei was pretty good. I'm not a huge fan of the type of tofu that this chain uses, but I'll eat it occasionally. I got a teriyaki bowl with tofu and veggies, and a fountain drink for just under $10. At first I thought that was a little expensive, but then I saw how big the portions were. I wound up taking half of my meal home with me. "Diner" is certainly an accurate way to describe this place; it's loud and very busy. That's fine if you're just stopping by for a quick lunch, though. I liked the black chai iced tea, and the menu clearly states which foods can be made vegetarian and which can't. So this review is based on togo only. I had to go pick up a large order twice and each time service was great. I got to the register quickly and the person behind it was always friendly. What I've tried: - spicy chicken salad - pad thai The spicy chicken salad was actually really good. The spicy chicken itself was very flavorful and the meat was tender and juicy. I get scared of ordering chicken sometimes because some places overcook it and it becomes dry but this chicken was very satisfying. The salad came with a vinagrette but I just ate it alone with the chicken. The pad thai was ok. It felt like a lot of ingredients were missing. I couldn't taste any egg and there's very little tofu and bean sprouts. I just remember there being a lottt of noodles. The portion was huge for a togo order and I wasn't hungry at all so I brought it home for the bf to have. He thought the flavor was off. What I love about Pei Wei by...Me! I love the hot and soup soup and you can get this huge bowl of it for $5 or less. I love their lettuce wraps...ahhh crisp with seasoned chicken and goodness inside. Pour some of the sauce they give you into the lettuce wrap- you will be happy you did! I love their cream cheese wontons! How can one go wrong with frying cream cheese? The red sauce they serve with these are delicious. For my main course I usually order the honey seared shrimp with white rice. I add some of the red sauce from the crab wontons to the honey seared shrimp and bam- we have deliciousness. I don't eat these 4 items at one time because you know that is a lot of food.
