Want to pay good money and leave feeling ripped off, frustrated, unsatisfied and still hungry and worried that you might get sick ? This is the place for you! Peking Dragon is one of the worst Chinese restaurants I have ever eaten at over the hundreds of different ones I have dined at. Panda Express ( which also is mediocre) blows this place out of the water for 1/4 the price. Not kidding, Panda Express is 10 times better quality ingredients. CONSIDER THAT THOUGHT SEVERAL TIMEES before eating at Peking Dragon. I can't believe that they paid off fake reviewers to get the same level of review as The little kitchen Asian cafe which is like 5 times better. You can always tell restaurants with fake reviews because it's always a mix of 1 and 2 star ratings and 5 star with no 3 star. Truly awful . I can't even cook Chinese food and I can assure you I could do a much better job. Soggy moo-shi low quality meat and you may as well order it as a vegetarian dish because there was less than 1 ounce of meat in it. Seriously possibly only a 1/2 ounce they were slivers of beef perhaps each one double the width of a standard toothpick and only about 10 of them. You couldn't possibly be cheaper about it. What is wrong with these people? How can they serve this and not expect people to be annoyed? This was moo-shi? Really , REALLY?! Limp wilted low cost white cabbage - also shredded too small so it just turned to liquid . This was More like an bad shredded omelet soaked in dish water with table Scraps than Moo-shi. Think about that, and look at it if you make the mistake of ordering it. They only gave 4 pancakes instead of 6 , And usually at most restaurants you have to buy two more because there is enough to make 8. In this case 4 was just enough. Dish was so runny the pancakes just turned to mush- they didn't use a high heat and overloaded the pan so it steamed in its own watery juice .low quality cheap eggs too. The tasteless ones chickens produce from low cost feed. The hot and sour soup was simply disgraceful- it was more like egg drop soup with white vinegar dumped in it . It's as if these people never ate at other Chinese restaurants of ANY quality level . It's not even brown, it's light yellow. We thought the waiter brought the wrong soup! It has super low quality grey pork ( seriously blanched grey...not even sautéed brown) which tasted awful, not for human consumption, and so little tiny pieces. The soup is mostly cheap eggs. With some tiny bay shrimp tossed in...the lowest quality shrimp you can buy...funny thing is SHRIMP DON'T BELONG IN HOT AND SOUR SHRIMP! It just messed up the soup more. For comparison you could go to Sam Woos in Irvine and for $17.95 you can get a delicious Peking duck special. We left disgusted and annoyed that we ordered dishes with meat and just got fed egg soup and soggy omelet in moo-shi pancakes. I wish I could run a Mercedes dealership and have the owner OF Peking Dragon come in and stick a Mercedes badge on a cigar smokers a 375,000 mile Kia Soul and sell it to him for a brand new Mercedes price. That's how you will feel after eating here. I'm sure the owner doesn't read these reviews, but he should go to the little kitchen Asian cafe and at least order their hot and sour soup ( which is about a 7 out of 10 and same for their moo-shi) get a cooking education man! This Chinese food Should make the owner feel ashamed of his heritage. I really said that EXACT QUOTE walking out with my Thai friend. She said if she served food like that to her friends in her house they would never come over again, AGREED. I bet I get tons of compliments from other unsuspecting diners who try this place. I wish I had read the yelp reviews. First hint was the place was empty on a Saturday night with tons of people in town. The staff is kinda annoyingly stupid .... but that was nothing compared to the food. I don't care if the staff is annoying if the food is good. How the heck do places like this stay open for decades..... stupid tourists, that's how...and maybe people with old tastebuds. It's pretty pathetic to be thoroughly beaten by Panda Express, in every respect of value, food quality, taste, and health. I heard about this place from a friend.... and it's one of those places where its actually better than what someone said, they said "it is great food..." and truly its the best Chinese food I have ever had. I went there on my birthday this past year and want to make that a tradition from here on out..... great value, some of our favs: Sizzling Rice Soup, Mushu - very vegetarian friendly.... In my humble opinion, this is the best Chinese food in Dana Point. Service is friendly, and we couldn't believe how quickly we got our food served. This was the first time we've eaten in. Normally we take out food and it is ready quickly as well. We had the fried garlic chicken and the beef with green vegetables. Both were outstanding. We had plenty left over to bring leftovers home. We noticed that other diners were ordering the shrimp with walnuts and seemed to really enjoy it. We'll have to try that entree next time. read more

This used to be my favorite restaurant. In fact I was there on the first day they opened. Yesterday I had lunch there with my family. The garlic fried chicken was so spicy, it was almost inedible. The other dishes were bland and tasteless. It was also very warm. It took a few tries before the air conditioning was turned on. I believe just opening a window would have done it. Very disappointed. My family has raved about this place for years. While my husband and I were visiting family down south, we decided to have lunch there. We arrived at noon and the restaurant was busy. We were immediately seated and a greeted by a waiter. There was five of us, so we decided to order the five person dinner. Everything was DELICIOUS! Best egg rolls, I have ever eaten. Other than the fact that I felt like I walked into a retirement home at meal time, this place isn't too bad. Dislikes- we were sat at an awkward round table 1/2 in a corner and 1/2 in a walkway- we all faced the wall and everyone that passed by bumped into my chair and the neighbors. The Hot and Sour soup was not prepared how it usually is at other Chinese food places- they add pork and shrimp and veggies- the rest of my group really seemed to enjoy it, but I was expecting/ looking forward to my usual. Likes- Kung Pao Chicken and Walnut Shrimp, both were very yummy. I would recommend this place despite my seemingly bad review. Peking dragon is a fantastic family owned restaurant. My family and I have been coming here for years and this is still, to this day, my favorite Chinese restaurant. I even have my husband hooked on this place now. The food and service is consistently top notch, and the owners are very kind, friendly people. I've been going to Peking Dragon for over a decade and I will say, the physical restaurant is tired: the plates and utensils show years of use and the decor is very dated. I've been to Peking Dragon countless times over the years and have yet to be disappointed with the food or service. The prices are a bit high, but you do get large portions. Our typical order: Sizzling Rice Soup - by far their best soup. Always tastes amazing. Garlic Fried Shrimp - very large shrimp, tasty (sort of sweet) garlic sauce Braised Green Beans - tons of flavor. My only minor complaint about this dish is that it can be a little too greasy. Came here with the Wife the other night after a Wine tasting cruise at the marina. We weren't looking for Chinese, but the Wife spotted this place and instantly had a Kung-Pao craving, so she made a u-turn and pulled in. I don't see what was so appealing about the outside of this place to her, it looks like its part of a commercial strip-mall. Just plain and unappealing to the eye. Whatever, hopefully they have some good grub. We were greeted with beautiful smiling faces, and a warning to "Use the spoon!" if I wanted a jellybean. I did not, and we were seated right away. Right away our Waiter appeared out of the blue like a Ninja. We ordered hot and iced Tea and some Sprite. They DO NOT serve coffee here. Wifey went to the bathroom, and the Waiter took our order. I didn't have to wait long because our food was served before my Wife made it back to the table. So it is painfully obvious that this food was ladled out of a steam tray or something, because it took less that five minutes to get our food. We ordered a Kung-Pao Chicken plate that was good. Not spicy enough to be called Kung-Pao though. It didn't look bad, but the presentation was lacking. It LOOKED like it was ladled out of a steam tray as well. It wasn't bad, it tasted alright. LOTS of chicken, good portions. But a bit more bland than I am accustomed to as far as Kung-Pao. A little pricey for what you get as well. We also ordered a plate of Dragon Peking Beef. This dish TASTED better, but LOOKED worse than the Kung-Pao. It had a little more heat, tasted great, and the beef we got was tender. This dish was great. But it looked like slop, ladled out as well. Nothing fresh here. The staff here is very polite, and always hustling. Seriously, the servers and such are all over the place, its like crouching Tiger, hidden Dragon up in here. Oh no....no...no..pass on this place. The food was terrible. It was the day after Thanksgiving so maybe the good chef was out Black Friday Shopping. The meat looked grey (like in the pictures....guess I thought mine would be different???) The chicken was all minced up in what should be a nice regular cut chicken dish. It was no good. The best full service Chinese restaurant & bar anywhere. The entire menu is spectacular, the quality is outstanding, freshness is in every bit, any menu item is available for to go, even the soups. The War Won ton and Sweet & Sour soup is fabulous, the house fried rice is like eating a meal with all of your favorite ingredients, you have to try the chicken egg foo young is truly amazing. The chef will accommodate your individual tastes; no onions, light sauce, crispy noodles. Writing this review is making me hungry and puts a smile on my face. Went to Peking Dragon on a Tuesday night for a birthday dinner. We ordered a lot of food, so much so the server actually commented on how much we got. We ordered paper wrapped chicken and sizzling rice soup to start. For our entrees we ordered orange chicken, mongolian beef, crispy honey walnut shrimp, braised string beans, mushroom and bok choy in bleack bean sauce, bbq pork chow mein, and combo fried rice. So yeah we order a lot of food between the 4 and a half of us. The food came out rather quickly and was piping hot. All the entrees tasted good, but my favorite was the braised string beans. Its such a simple dish but so tasty at the same time. The beans were still crisp and not over sauced. The ambiance was nice, nothing uber fancy. The crowd that night was rather mature, if you know what I mean. I felt as if we went to eat in Laguna Woods. But that didn't bother us, we were with good company, so the crowd was a moot point. The only down side is, this place is kind of pricey for what you get. We spent more than $30 per person. *ouch* Would I go back? Yes. read more

This is our family must go for special events or just because we are craving delicious Chinese food. Wait staff are courteous, but not very talkative. I suspect their English isn't perfect. Food always comes out hot, fresh and fast. Best of all, nothing is ever greasy. Our favorite dishes are vegetable egg fu young, Mongolian beef, and sweet and sour chicken, but all of it is good. While the restaurant is casual, you can dress up for a date night here. The restaurant is clean but the decor is 1990's contemporary (not a personal favorite, but it works n the space). The large open windows around the dining areas create a breezy and light filled experience. This place is always busy, so try to get there when it opens (around 4:30 pm) if you want to get in quick. We have years of fond memories sitting at the tables at Peeking Dragon laughing and eating together and plan on many many more. read more

Made a reservation for 6:45pm this evening When I approached the front desk to ask how long for my reservation the young lady at the desk said I don't know... And ignore me I asked again few minutes later and she said I cannot see the future! I seriously that was the answer.. I had my family with me so I decided to stay and wait.. I 50 minutes later I was seated Waited another 10 minutes for anyone to approach my table.. I kindly ask the busser a polite young man to get someone I like to order. Finally the server after another 10 minutes took our order. We ordered some appetizers and Entrees to share, well much later they delivered the wrong appetizers and had to wait once again for food.. I starving at this point! Finally we got our main course and guess what absolutely terrible two of our dishes were cold and the other warm.. Spoke to the owner about the experience and her answer was well we are very busy.. Unfortunately they lost my business.. What a waist of time and money! read more

It was a disaster on Christmas Day. We normally do not go out on Christmas Day but heard that Peking Dragon is great on Christmas Day. So we made reservations 6 weeks in advance for 6pm. We arrived about 20 minutes early. When we checked in we were told it would be at least 2 hours after our reservation time. It appears not only did they overbook the reservations they allowed walk-ins to push out reservations. Couldn't even get food to go. Without having reservations anywhere else our options were limited. We were weren't going to wait so we went home and had a great dinner anyway. They've always had great food but I can't see myself ever going back. There were no apologies and no effort to make things right. read more
