    Such a friendly staff

We actually were looking to head to a more beachy seen on Fourth of July... We couldn't find anything open past 2 o'clock ... I am so glad we called Peking Dragon. Not only was the food so delicious. We brought a bottle of our wine and were not charged a corkage fee. The service was outstanding. Everything was presented with a smile. They gave us a little sip of lychee juice right as we sat down, and then for dessert, they gave us each a lychee fruit which was so refreshing and so unexpected.... I would say out of everything, the potstickers, and the ribs were the most satisfying and delicious and flavorful. We also had the king pau chicken, coconut shrimp with candied, walnuts, broccoli beef .. all very tasty... This restaurant is open seven days a week ... great location plenty of parking.. and again just the friendliest staff ever...

At home these are not the usually amazing Peking Dragon Egg rolls

Let me first start by saying, like so many other customers we have been coming to Peking Dragon for over 20 years. I usually rave about it, as it's the closest thing to East Coast Chinese food as you'll get. Again, like everyone else, we loved Shane. He made the experience. But pass that it was the food that really kept us coming back. The new management staff is nice, but they are changing too many things. I had two of my favorite dishes now change. The interesting part was I was told that I was wrong on one of them. They change their Peking duck, from the soft Lotus buns to now , the classic Moo shu wraps. The flavor is still good, but you lose the tradition of the lotus buns, that make for an amazing Peking duck dish. We came in last night, our waiter last night was amazing as usual, we had my grandson with us for one of his first trips out to dinner ever, he seven months old. Jimmy absolutely entertained him the whole night again the food was very good. My other favorite are the four eggrolls at Peking dragon. The pictures are all over yelp. They are the classic East Coast eggrolls. I ordered an order to go, so did not see the eggrolls until I got home for lunch this afternoon. I was very disappointed to find that they are now the standard spring roll type. That is all the flat outside wonton wrap like most low end Chinese restaurants have. They changed yet another menu item for the worst. To the new owners, you purchased a great restaurant, there was never anything that needed to be changed at that restaurant. It is your business and you're right to change anything you'd like. But what's gonna start happening? Is you're going to change customers opinions of Chinese restaurant in Orange County.

    Hot n sour soup

Came to PK for lunch as it was on my list for sometime to visit while staying in Dana Point. It is difficult to find really good Chinese in the area with the exception of Asian Kitchen in Laguna Niguel. Ordered the Mandarin prawns with fried rice with a hot sour soup and side of fried chicken to start. I was served a fried chicken neck bone and a strange thigh bone. The prawns (tasteless) were heavily breaded and deep fried before a spicy sweet sauce is put on top. The sauce wasn't bad, but it wasn't spicy either as I requested. The pot of hot jasmine tea was good and would definitely recommend. Not sure I'd come back.

This place is, without a doubt, the BEST Chinese Restaurant in south Orange County.

Bland kung pao chicken and overly eggy fried rice. If you have no taste buds this is your place.

So do Chinese food, American style Chinese food, more like a Chinese buffet with dishes instead of big metal plates.

I've been to MANY Chinese food restaurants, and Peking Dragon is by far the best there is.

The reviews menus that I saw earlier highlighted the lunch specials, and only stated "except for holidays", if you look at the photo, I posted it shows that they marked "not on weekends" with a pen and not even in good handwriting. So we ended up ordering a regular entrée from the main menu and got a tofu pad Thai. It was average price for food around Dana Point, but nearby San Clemente which is not far has better prices for restaurants. Unfortunately, even the pad Thai was really not very good. It was drowned in sauce, which made it way too thick and so the sauce itself wasn't tasty. If I wasn't so hungry, I probably wouldn't have eaten most of it, but didn't want to wait for something else. The other issue I found with this restaurant that is totally noticeable when you come in is the sheer amount of idols that are staring at you, while you sit. I also snapped a photo of this, which I posted. It actually feels more like a temple than a restaurant so just know that you may feel uncomfortable having a bunch of gold statues, looking right at you while you stuff food in your mouth. Maybe that's common in Asia, just felt a little overboard in OC. The only bright spot was our server, he was nice and he did come to our table to check on us a few times. For certain, if not for him, the rating on this restaurant would've been lower, but service is so important these days and he did a good job so definitely wanted to recognize that.

They have a great outdoor patio that's dog friendly. Friendly greeting when I walked in, and the young man said to grab any table outside. I ordered my go tos, house chow mein, kung pau chicken, bbq pork fried rice, and the sauteed chicken with vegetables. The kung pau was really good, perfect heat. The house chow mein had shrimp, beef, and chicken and those nice thick noodles. The fried rice was delicious! We really liked the sauteed chicken in a brown sauce which had different vegetables than the kung pau. Some places use the same mix in each dish. My parents are old school and they'd always say, if the dishes taste the same, the place is not good. Each dish here had it's own flavor so there is great care in the preparation. The portions are also generous and we took the rest home. The staff was great! So friendly! And it was very pleasant on the patio! Definitely worth checking out! I understand they are under new ownership and I'm glad we visited after this fact. I think we would've been disappointed if it was the previous, judging from the older reviews. Cako loved it here because she laid down and only does that when she does. I don't live up here but I look forward to coming back when I return! Cako Approves!
