I never come here for auto service, just for parts only. Had a bad experience with service and according to the reviews it's a common complaint. The staff inside are great. I was there last night, the manager Justin helped me with what I needed. Was very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. We started talking about my truck and showed me he really cared, did not treat me like a money spending customer but more like a person who was interested. These floor employees are the best which is why I only shop here for all my auto needs. Ask for the coolest Manager in town who can bench press a car....Justin. ;-) read more

By far the worst service department I've ever had to deal with. And Manny their service representative was rude and a complete waste of my time. I called in advance to get a quote of the work to replace my break pads and nothing more. They quoted me $146 over the phone, with the cheapest break pads they have, which is fine because I drive a beater. I show up to my appointment to have Manny attempting to sell me on 200+ for the break pad change. I let him know I talked to the phone service rep and was quoted the 146, and expected that price. He gave more attitude, slapped his monitor around to show me the line items as if that was going to automatically explain everything. Turned out he was selling me their cermaic brakes which I had not asked for, charged for an inspection, and a resurfacing also of which I didn't ask for. Now I know that this is the way pep boys does things, and how they turn a profit, but I could get the same work which should be STANDARD at any local autoshop for 126... which would be the case, had local shop been open on saturday after 2 PM. Along with the dishonesty on the phone and in person, and the straight rude service by Manny their service rep, ive really had it with this local pep boys. After being dissatisfied multiple times at this location ive just had enough of their terrible service. read more

I had to go in to get my headlights bulb replaced, Alex came in and helped me right on the spot without me having to leave the car and come back in an hour or less. I am on here on behalf of my mother who does not use yelp. She made an appointment for 9am last week for today (Saturday) . She arrived at 7:45am to be sure to get her work done on her truck before anyone else arrived as she was informed that if other cars were there they would take them before her appointment. She gave authorization to work on truck. At 2:30pm she called to see progress. She was told that the mechanic did not work on her truck and said to come back Tuesday. The point of the appointment for today was because my mom works in LA and is only free on weekends to do work. She asked if they would work on it tomorrow (Sunday)and was told no they would be to busy. So instead of working on the truck a $3000 job, they mechanic was lazy, parked the car and did quick easy jobs today. We will not be going here ever again! And are informing our family and friends of this lazy service! read more

It's easy to see that the manager, Mike, really cares about the customer. I came in for a front suspension issue that my local Pep Boys in West LA diagnosed as a control arm issue. I bought the parts online to save some coin and came to this location since it was close to work. Mike didn't hassle me for bringing in parts and diagnosis from two other places, he just trusted the homework I had done on the issue and proceeded with the work. I balked at the price, since it was going to take a little more time than I expected, and Mike found me a coupon for 10% off. Much appreciated! On top of that, he drove me to my office that was 10 minutes away! The repairs went well and solved the issue. Mike and Pep Boys exceeded expectations. Bring your car to Mike! I went into the store and scheduled an appointment for 2 days later. I told them I was going to drop the car off the night before. the next afternoon after dropping my car off I find out they didn't check the drop-off box and didn't know my car was there. Then they call and say they didn't have the Mobil 1 oil I needed (it was on the shelf in the store). I had to argue with them to get the oil change after they discovered they had the oil. Couldn't provide the correct alignment sheet to show they did my car, Didn't check the air pressure in tires. Wanted to argue with making it my fault I had problems. If I could give less than one star I would. I'm a very considerate and patient customer and was just met by unnecessarily rude staff. I was told that they couldn't fix my tire and that a tire would have to be replaced (when it is a standard (less than 1/4") repair for a tire). I understand policy, but was offered no explanation or guidance, just an annoyed employee that could care less about customer service and being helpful to anyone. Gonna hit the road now, if I die on the way, thanks Pep Boys! You were truly helpful and exemplary of what a store should be! I came Pep Boys to get a set of tires and Sal noticed a bolt was missing from the calibers which caused the calibers to pull away from the brake. My husband came to this pep boys to test his battery and buy a new one. He was told by an employee and service manager that they are too busy to help him. He went back to his car and it wouldn't start. He asked if they could jump start his car so that he can go somewhere else. They did that they were too busy for that as well. So now we are sitting in the heat for 45 minutes to wait for AAA to show up! I will never shop at a pep boys ever again! They were also rude about it! read more

Horrible service and got ripped off. My mom paid 90 something for my oil change. 2 weeks later found out it was not done correctly. I'm inhaling fumes and have to go somewhere else to look into the what's causing it. Oh and only about a quarter left of oil in when we checked. read more

I went into the Cerritos Pepboys for air conditioning repair at 8:20AM, they have lots of vehicles pending from the day before, so I can totally understand my car is not checked in until 2:00PM. Mike, the office manager gave me a call and told me the AC repair will include throwing in a condenser and compressor for the whole AC system, and will turn out to be $2054. I called off the repair and told Mike I will pick up my vehicle and paid the $50 checkup fee. When I went in, Mike told me to check out pepboys.com to buy used parts for cheaper price, bring those parts to the store and they will do the repair for me. It will be cheaper this way and I don't have to spend $2054. On my way out, a very helpful staff, Johnny, told me somewhat the same thing to get cheaper parts "in the store" and they can get the works done for me, which will be cheaper. He invited me back to the store to have a better understanding of the needed parts and prices for each. I was so surprise to find out a few things: 1. I don't need to buy the used parts online with Pepboys, they have all the used parts in the store 2. Joey told me I don't need to repair my condenser because it is not broken. 3. The labor cost and parts all turned out to be less than $1,000 Mike, the office manager, gave me incorrect information on the quote so he can send me on my way on their busy day, telling me to buy used parts online and return to the shop which in fact, they already have all these parts in the store, and intended to rip me off if I would agree with $2054. I believe it was more of sending me away instead of trying to rip me off, a day wasted with unnecessary back and forth. 2 stars for the Mike's handling of my vehicle, and already rated 10 stars for Johnny on Pepboys.com who have been helpful. read more

Came here on June 4 for battery check and Matt was very helpful and informative on what to do. After testing the battery it turned out it needed replacement and he looked at my vehicle history and was able to find out I still had a warranty and able to save me $65! Staff and service are always great here and highly recommend this place. Very clean and friendly staff. Some old faces were gone and manager Mikeal said they went to the other branches. The guys here are amazing!!! The other day I came in just as they were closing. I had had a very long day starting with picking my car up from a sketchy auto shop in orange county to having to ultimately having to get my car jumped in the parking lot of my Dr's office. LUCKILY this PepBoys was super close by and I managed to catch them before they closed and the guys here were patient enough to hear me out. They took the time to check out my battery, coming to find that the other sketchy auto shop in OC had killed it to the point that they couldn't even pick up a reading. They were low on mechanics at the time but they still made time to replace my battery for me before closing!! They did it super fast too which was so nice because it had been a verrrry long day. Also, they totally saved me because I work extremely early hours and if they had turned me away I definitely wouldn't have been able to get to work on time the next day so thank you soo much! I waited for 45 minuites to get a battery test done because Manny did not know how to operate the battery tester. I kept on asking him how much longer until he asked his supervisor to do it for him. I felt his supervisor's pain after overhearing their conversation that he has been working there for 25 years and still don't know how to operate the battery tester. Kudos to his supervisor for being patient with him. Good thing the test only took 1 min. Bad is that I could have been done 44 min. ago. I have been a customer here for 17 years and have seen the decline in the quality of service. I wish management can do something to improve it's service. read more

We were provided excellent customer service by Alex and might I add very prompt service. Our truck was finished well within the time frame of when he advised it would be finished! Came to get my battery checked this morning and apparently I had to get a new one! It is what it is! After everything was done I paid and left. Opened my truck and there's grease from the guy getting in and out so I went back in and asked Jose the nice guy that was helping me if he had any wet naps because there's grease. This guy over heard and with AN ATTITUDE asked me what grease? And I said who ever that was working on my truck left grease, again with ATTITUDE, he said show me. I showed him and he said I'll go get something went back into the store and he started talking shit in Front of me and in Spanish. News Flash you don't have to be Hispanic to understand Spanish! Just because I'm Chinese it doesn't mean that I don't understand and it's freaking RUDE to talk shit about a paying customer that just gave your store business!!! So this ass goes and tell the guy that I was making a big shit about nothing and the guy that was working on my truck apologized for leaving the grease.
