I arrived and told the front desk guy that I was there to pick up my car and he told me it was going to be 10 to 15 more minutes so I sat at the waiting room. When 15 minutes past, I asked for status of my car "do you want me to have the car just pulled out with all the parts loose"? I was taken back by his rude response and asked about what parts. He told me they had take some parts off to inspect the car. This good bro said go to Pep Boys, they will help you, this has happened to me and they'll give you a jumper. So I went into Pep Boys, the dudes were super chill and nice, they gave me a jumper for free, they just asked to hold on to my id and credit card. This has caused much confusion as the spin off of retail resulted in all of our accounts to be deleted. In a nut shell, I had a warranty issue with a battery that I purchased from sales. Since they deleted all accounts they no longer had my purchase and warranty record. I arrived 15 minutes before opening on a Saturday morning and was greeted outside by the service manager, explained my situation, was handed a service form, filled out and was taken care of promptly and in a very cautious and professional manor. Do not come for diagnostics or repairs. I've been going here for years for my oil change. I've spent a lot of money here on tires, service, etc. And I would've wasted quite a bit of money had I not went with my gut and went elsewhere. Recently, my check engine light came on. I came in to get it checked: they said my secondary air injection pump was out and needed replacing along with a few other things. For just the air injection part and labor it was going to be about $900. For a few reasons I decided to go get a second opinion elsewhere as I had been warned through previous reviews. I don't know what kind of diagnostics pep boys ran but they misdiagnosed completely. I ended up going to Fitzgeralds on placentia. They did a thorough check. Walked me through all the details and explained everything in a way I could understand. The secondary air injection pump WAS WORKING and a hose was just disconnected.... There were other issues that needed repair. Save yourself the headache and the money, do not go to pep boys and read the reviews! They seem to be pretty spot on. read more

Do not come to this place for any sort of engine diagnostic or repair. I had a bad catalytic converter for the notorious PO420 code, these guys insisted that "cleaning" the engine and other random things would help the issue. Behold my check engine light still came on only three days after the service. When I went back, they refused to refund me and offered to replace the converter for an additional 2k... I was confused as to why this wasn't offered in the first place instead of this "cleaning". These guys are not honest and feel no shame in offering half-baked solutions to problems. I told him how is it possible to do a proper oil drain, and filter change in this short timeframe? he said if you don't like it take your car somewhere else. After the 3rd, my car had so many of its lights on alerting me something was seriously wrong with the vehicle. I had to take it to the dealership and they found 108 faults with the vehicle. I went in for a battery change out and an oil change $499 later. They charged me $121.80 for battery removal in labor...what a joke!!! Daniel was the service manager. I have been going here for years and never was a problem. Daniel told me that it was because my battery is below my seat and that is why they charged me $121.80. My wife was towed in to Pep Boys needing a new battery. They were able to start the car and then say, "oh the engine light is on, so that's why you are having trouble." She informed them that was new and they said they would run some diagnostics to see if it really needed a new battery and then proceed to charge her a few for that, mind you this is a free service at most auto parts stores. Also the date on the battery was 4/18, it's 10/23, not rocket science that she needs a new battery. They then informed her if she could make an appointment next week they could run full diagnostics for $100. She said well can I at least get a new battery today? They said yes and after an hour she was able to pick up the car. They then said oh and we cleared the code so your check engine light is off now. She asked what was the code and they were like uhhh we don't know. You should just drive it 100 miles and see if the light comes on again and then we can help. Hello you MF idiots! The scrape and dent left was a pretty decent size. I asked to speak to a manager and they came out. The employee was trying to move his car so the door wouldn't line up when the manager came out. The manager ended up writing everything down on my work order and said she would review with the GM. When I called back a few days later to check in the denied the whole story and said none of this ever happened even though I had pictures to prove.. Would not recommend this location. Other Pep Boys locations have been nice though so I can't say it about the whole company. This happened a few years back but helped me to make my decision not return. read more

They kept promising a short turn around but in reality very incapable of following through and didn't get my car until Thursday. They didn't fix anything but of course find "more problems" that they probably made. Trying to charge an extra $900 on top of the $1000 that was already quoted and I reluctantly agreed to originally. When refused they said the car needs to be towed. How? I drove it in. So, they were incapable of putting back to its original operating condition. Chumps. They couldn't even put the car back together for days because by their words "only one person can do that here." Real top notch team I assume. When I refused to move forward they tried to charge me $250 for not fixing my car and holding my car hostage for 5 days. Took my vehicle in to ONLY have the starter replaced (after having it worked on multiple times recently I knew exactly what was wrong with it) hoping this would be relatively simple. 4 weeks later the vehicle is still there. At first they told me that the starter they installed was faulty. They attempted to get another one but were told that the new one is delayed. Over the course of the next 3 weeks I will have personally followed up (in person) for a status update after being reassured multiple times they would update me on the vehicle. After 4 weeks of trying the employees still do not answer the phones and I literally have to go physically to the shop just to talk to someone. What a waste of time. This was not my first choice, but after trying, unsuccessfully, to get my oil changed at two other places (they did not have the correct oil), I went to Pep Boys to buy the oil myself...only to find that the store had closed. Since service didn't seem busy, I asked if they were able to do the oil change. They said they were and had the correct oil. They told me the service would be completed in under two hours. I told them I would walk next door to get coffee and would stay nearby, waiting for my car. When I returned, almost 2 hours later, my car was where I had left it and no work had been done. I asked how much longer and I was told it would be another hour. As I type this, I am looking at 7 cars in service bays (5 up on lifts) and no mechanics. None of the cars are being worked on. So, I towed my car to a mechanic on the 22nd of this month because my car wouldn't start. They said it was the starter so I spent $325 for a brand new starter they said needed to be replaced. Three days later the car broke down on me while drive. Again, I got my car towed this time home and later to the same mechanic to get them to fix the problem. The owner of the auto shop told me her would take a look at it since I was a "returning customer" turns out it had nothing to do with the starter that I had spent so much money replacing but the distributor. I was beyond frustrated!! Why on earth did I spend money on a brand new starter that apparently I didn't need. The owner gave me an estimate and said it would cost me $400 to fix it (which according to him included the family friend discount.) He was clearly trying to just get money out of me. I didn't have that kind of money so I decided to shop around for the part. I called here and Jonathan picked up. He was not only incredibly helpful but he even told me I could get the part for half the price and he could show me how to put it in the parking lot of Pep Boys! I got my car towed there and he not only helped put the pieces of the distributor together but he explained everything to me. He helped me put the part inside my car and even took the time to make sure my car started and examined the engine for me. He even told me to consider changing other parts he could see would need to be replaced soon. What could have cost me $400 ended up costing half the price. On Sunday April 3rd, I dropped my Jeep off in the late afternoon to have my brakes worked on. I realized it was late and that they probably wouldn't get to it that day which was fine. The guy at the counter was playing video games on his phone when he told me someone would be with me shortly. A different guy that checked me in told me they would give me a call Monday morning when they started working on it. I didn't receive a call on Monday so I called them late afternoon that day asking for an update. They tell me that no one could look at it that day and they promise they will on Tuesday which wasn't the end of the world. Tuesday, I get off work early. Still never receiving a call about my car, I decide to stop by in person around 3pm. There were two mechanics at the counter, the one I was speaking with and the one playing video games on his phone still. The one helping me went to check on the status of my car and his coworkers in the shop were flipping him off and yelling "F YOU!". He comes back and says "they still haven't worked on your car, I promise we will Wednesday morning". I'm getting frustrated at this point because no one has been communicating with me and it felt like if I never called or stopped by in person to check on it, they never would have called me. Anyways, it's about noon on Wednesday now and I call to check on my car since I STILL haven't received a call once. They tell me "it's all good, the brakes are fine you just had some loose lug nuts on your wheel." I ask "The brakes are ok?!" He responds "Yeah they're all good!" My fiancé picks my car up for me and when I went to drive it, I could still feel no brakes and hear them grinding. I take my car to a different mechanic a couple days later. They tell me I need new brake rotors, new shocks, a new drag link and I have a leak coming from behind my steering wheel. I'm sorry but thats piss poor service. Your mechanics straight up lied to me. I could understand not diagnosing the shocks, suspension or the leak, but saying my brakes are all good when it was metal on metal makes it apparent that no one even looked at my car after it sat at your location for 4 days. The thing I'm most confused about is that it was just a brake replacement? Don't you guys do that every day? What happened at your pep boys location was extremely unprofessional and negligent. Why even lie?! I don't get it. I left my fiancé stranded at home with no car for 4 days hoping my own car would be fixed but it looks like getting it off your hands was more important than just being honest with me or actually working at all for that matter.
