Today it was the regular managers day-off and Mark Guitirrez who was at the service desk should have just stayed home. I have been bringing in a fleet vehicle to this location for going on two years for regular oils change every 3,000 miles. He got irritated because he had to check the vehicles odometer reading. I am never asked for it, ever. Then he said, "My computer won't let me continue unless I fill in the details.". He then asked for the name of the fleet company and I pointed to the car keys next to him at his work station that the name and company phone number is on the key ring. He didn't look at it and kept repeating himself. Then asked for a company representative name for authorization. I stated, "If you call the number someone will answer and give you the authorization." He then rolled his eyes at me and said with a big smile on his face, "Well this 'fat boy' is not going to service your vehicle today.". He place the car keys to the left side of him on the counter and to me to come back with information he asked for... I am appalled that he never called the fleet company and used the language towards me. I am sorry the regular manager was not in today to assist me, who is very, nice, professional and excellent knowledge of communication with fleet company's authorization for work. This place use to be my to go place for automotive maintenance until the service manager Luis accidentally broke a bracket from my Buddyclub n+ coil over suspension on 05/14. I purchased four 225/40/18 tires to replace my 215/35/18 tires but before having them installed I requested Luis to check if they would fit. Luis checked my car and told me the tires would fit and that's when my nightmare with Pep Boys started, the tires were too big and they all rubbed on the fenders so Luis adjusted the height on my coilovers using two pry bars and in the process damaged my left rear strut. A horrible mattress sound(urky urky urky)could be heard when driving and the rear tires also rubbed a bit on the fenders so I had to get them "rolled" for $60.00 out of my pocket. Luis advised me to drive the car for a week and if the noise didn't stop to come back. I went back to Pep Boys a week later for Luis to inspect the vehicle and he saw the broken bracket and told me he would replace it with a new one and I told him I wouldn't accept anything less than a authentic Buddyclub part. Weeks later he tried deceiving me with a universal brand bracket. I went back on 05/28 to have new rear tires installed because my rear tires were a bit damaged from all the rubbing on the fenders the week before. The technician was a bit rough mounting the new left rear tire and after it was all done I left at 6:00pm went home and didn't go out, the next day I walked to my car at 08:50am ready to drive to work and I noticed my left rear tire completely flat! I went to put air in it and I had a tire shop near my job take a look and they told me the rim was bent! they showed me how it could have been bent in the mounting process because the bent was the same size as the mounting bracket. On 06/03 my rim was replaced at no charge by Pep Boys because I called Claudia from Pep Boys Corporate. Even though my rim had been replaced I was still waiting for my suspension to be replaced because to this day my suspension makes a loud noise while driving and the passengers in the back and myself fear that one day the rear suspension will give out on me. Today 08/25 the service manager Luis told me corporate office denied my claim for the new suspension. If corporate office wanted to take responsibility for the mistake Luis did they would've submitted my claim to their insurance company and I wouldn't be driving around with a f***ed up suspension. Pep Boys is operating in the U.S. not some third world country and I would expect them to play by the rules. My advise to you Yelpers is to always keep an eye on what the techs are doing to your car and don't throw away your receipts. read more

I was satisfied the last time we came, especially since we got the "shake down" experience w/a pushy auto parts clerk from O'Reilly, then came here and got what we wanted at the price we can afford. However, this time we got a really pushy auto parts clerk who was trying to get his commission by trying to talk us out of what we wanted to purchase, lying and showed us that his grammar school education didn't get far by reading a coupon we gave him that was very clear we were entitled to a discount ("you can only use this if you spend $99 only.....then hesitatingly read...."or less" on item)......yeah.... Not only that but he kept insisting what we wanted was bad, wrong & dangerous...ironically I've purchased the same brand forever & a day, but apparently driving one year on the valuegrade brand from LA to Palms Springs all the time, I never got in "danger" as he put it, Also told us they didn't have them, funny I looked them up online and their website said they had them in stock.......lol Schmuck! Well we got one of two items that we were looking for (this is all based on our budget, like the whole world is going through at this time)......so when we went to the register we asked the Cashier if she could check to see if they did have the other part that was cheaper & she said she'd have to check w/him...we said nevermind he really didn't look hard enough (actually I saw his screen, they were there listed, but he kept lying to us & said no they weren't).......She saw how unhappy we were and pulled out their circular & gave us an additional 20% off which ended up being the price we would have paid getting the cheaper brand (oh lucky us!).... Second time at this location, and the service is just as bad as the first. First time i came to get my brakes inspected and they tried to convince me i needed 2k worth of work and parts and managed to leave the wheels loose with dangling censors. Turns out i just needed new pads. Second time i came to get my a/c inspected and a flat patched up. The patch looks bad, i thought it was a cigarette stuck to my wheel. The a/c, well they managed to get my glove compartment stuck, couldn't open it and blamed it on a "freak accident", that they can't be blamed for. Now I have to find a locksmith. If you come here make sure you know how your car started before you left it, inspect it before you drive away and better yet, go anywhere else. read more

I took my vehicle here about a week ago to try and get an oil change. A worker (Jay) tells me they can't do the service because my oil pan bolt is stripped because the car is old. He also tried to say it was stripped by whoever worked on it before. He quotes me to replace the bolt and pan. After leaving the shop, my car begins to leak oil in my driveway (never had oil leaking before that visit). I filed a corporate complaint and no one from this location contacted me within the 24-48 hour Pep Boys protocol. Corporate then escalated my case as a lack of communication report. No one responded that same day per the Pep Boys protocol. I call corporate again who confirmed that, still, no one is responding to the complaint. I call the shop location afterwards and a manager (Richard) answers the phone. He tells me he wasn't able to speak with the mechanic for days. That was never communicated to corporate nor myself the entire time I waited for a response under the company policy. He further tells me that my "stripped bolt" was hard to remove. He also tried to tell me my car was already leaking oil which, again, my car has never leaked oil. He did tell me they went above and beyond to cover their end which is exactly what it seems like because this doesn't sound like customer service at all. read more

Online it said I could pick it up so I bought and made an appointment. I then had to cancel that appointment because something came up. I called to cancel my appointment and the lady that answered said she had to see if they even had it in stock. Turns out it wasn't in stock and they can't even order the tire because they don't even carry it on the website. So I'm fine with that just refund me. She said " I don't know how to refund you. And I don't know who you should talk to about this. There should be a number to call but I don't know what that number is" that pissed me off. How do you know absolutely nothing? Team member Joe (tall, big guy) was great! I got my car towed here since my tire was completely flat on my 2015 hundai sonata. A nail apparently got me and it was too close to the wall to patch up. Anywho, I spoke with him and he was very fast and friendly. Great people skills! They checked out my tire but couldn't fix it. Joe went above and beyond calling several places to get my tire but it's on back order everywhere he called. I even called local spots and they didn't have it either. The cleanest and friendliness automotive place outside of a foreign dealer. Immediately when I entered the energy and vibe from the woman working the front desk was so awesome!! Customer service is A+ here and it's appreciated that they are able to maintain reasonable prices but yet buy quality items for your vehicles. I had the absolute pleasure of being helped by Thomas. To preface, I bought aftermarket rims and wanted them installed. I literally went to FOUR other places before, and got so goddamn annoyed when every single one of them tried to push some bs on me. I know for fact I bought rims that fit my car exactly. Seriously, it's not hard. I knew that I needed new lug nuts and that's it. Every single one of the prior places I visited tried to tell me some bull like "oh it's not gonna fit, you're gonna need to buy our [insert list of 10 things]" or "your rims aren't the right size so you should return them and buy ours instead." This is literally including two other Pep Boys I went to that same day. I just walked out of those. Like I get it, you have to make sales or whatever, but it's annoying when they're so blatantly trying to bullsh*t you and you know every word that comes out of their mouth is complete garbage. This place was different. I was helped by Thomas, who was ABSOLUTELY the most straight-up person I dealt with. He didn't try to push any extra bullsh*t on me, and didn't hesitate to check the rims for me even though I didn't buy them from Pep Boys. He took a good look at them and was like "yeah these will be fine. You'll probably need lug nuts though." FRICKIN THANK YOU, finally someone who isn't trying to bs me into buying unnecessary garbage. Not to mention he was extremely polite and straightforward. I did have to wait a long time to get my car worked on (~4 hours) but I don't blame them at all; I straight up walked in with zero appointment and it looked like their shop was pretty busy. Plus he did warn me in advance that it would be a multiple hour wait, so I wasn't blindsided by the amount of time I had to stick around. I just took my laptop to the El Pollo Loco down the street. Throughout the process of my car being worked on, Thomas would check in with me and let me know what's going on, any issues they encountered (very few), and checked with me before adding anything onto the bill. I ended up needing the lug nuts, and... I believe, tire sensors? Don't remember exactly. But he'd bring the products out and be like, are these okay? And he'd tell me the price, etc etc. I super super super super appreciated his help and input. He also told me I wouldn't be needing spacers. (I originally didn't think I would anyway, but literally EVERY SINGLE shop before told me I would have to buy it, so I ended up getting paranoid and believing them. My car tires literally said they would fit anything with 38-42 offset and the rims I bought were 40. Why the f*ck would I need spacers??) This review ended up being more of a rant about other places, but I just use that as an example of how some places try to push bs on you because they think they can, and I wanted to contrast that with Thomas who was an absolute joy to deal with. I was also helped by someone who I believe was named Jason, who was also extremely helpful and respectful. I have nothing but praise for this Pep Boys location and Thomas and Jason, and my experience with them was a breath of fresh air after all the crap I had to put up with before I found this shop. I'm forever gonna bring my car here for any work that needs to be done. Please give Thomas and Jason a raise; they were absolutely wonderful. read more

Pep Boys has really gone to crap. I usually get my oil done by them always, but the Pep boys by my house was closed so I went under the hood myself and saw some idiot had over torqued and stripped the oil drain bolt under the car. It is impossible to remove. So I called and spoke to the manager Mark, and he tells me that if he's going to look at it, he's going to charge me $50 to check it out and that he may as well do the oil change himself. So not only did they destroy the nut, but he is also trying to charge me to look at it. So I asked him if they can just loosen it since they got it stuck. He then tells me that he owns that store and he will not allow that to happen in his store. I learn a hard lesson in taking my car to get an oil change. They have these monkeys who don't give a damn about people destroying their cars and then charging to fix the damage they made. Never using Pep Boys again. read more

What can I say...I have always relied on the service here at this Pep Boys. I bought tires and brakes here on two seperate occasions. I made appointments for both services. The tire appointment was prompt and my vehicle was ready in a little over an hour. The second appointment for the brake service was way less than stellar. I had an appointment for 10am. They did not get to my vehicle until 1pm. And I did not receive a call to pick it up until 6pm. I thought, like when you make any other appointment, you would get service quickly. Because that is why you make appointments correct? So, here I am back at this store because when the worked on my brakes. They forgot to put the lug nut lock back into my vehicle. I have spent more money trying to get my tire off today than ever. I will not be coming here again. The attitude of the workers here is poor. And are not willing to help. read more

I really don't understand why I continue to come back to the service department at this store, they're always too busy to even say "hello we'll be with you in a second" just wanted to get a battery check! After an hour of waiting, I finally left with no services completed, because they're too busy to perform a 3-minute task and God forbid provide exceptional customer service, I will take my business elsewhere there are many other locations that will tend to you quickly for a simple battery check even if they're busy. Last week when my dad called about my car and why it was taking so long he was told there's nothing wrong with it, however no one called and told us it was ready to be picked up. Came in for a last minute oil change on 12/6/18 less than an hour before closing. I called first to see if they could accommodate me, they said sure, just to make sure I got there quickly. I arrived and my car was taken back to be serviced right away. I was a bit apprehensive given that some of the other reviews were kinda negative, but thank goodness my experience wasn't bad. The gentlemen that helped me were friendly and courteous, I was even told that I could find a coupon online that took off $20 from the oil change. They recommended a few things that needed to be done, but they weren't pushy nor do I feel like they were trying to "up sell" me on items or services I didn't want which was something the other reviews mentioned as well. My car was done within half an hour and I was on my way. It's now been a week and so far so good. This might be my new spot for oil changes, especially when I don't feel like driving all the way to the dealership. read more

Negative 5 as a score. I had my 2010 Range Rover maintenanced here a few months ago. I posted this review on the stores website but never heard back so I decided to also share my review here. So I went in for an oil change and the Land Rover Scheduled maintenance service. When I was paying for my service I was told my oil filter could not be removed and I'd have to come back another day when the master mechanic was in. A few days later I get a flat and decide to buy all 4 tires with alignment at the same Pep Boys. When I show up I explain to the clerk that the spare is on the truck but the flat is in the back of the truck. I say the spare tire currently on the truck because of the flat is to stay with me. It was a brand new Michelin Latitude worth around $250. I even offer to show him but he says it's not necessary and all he needs are my keys. When I return for my car I'm told the oil filter could not be replaced at that time either. The employee now in charge and not the same person I intially dropped my car off with tells me I need brakes as well. I asked for them to do it but they state there's not enough time today. I told him I wish I'd have known this when I brought my car in for the oil change and service. He nicely gave me a 10% discount and told me to come by next Saturday and he'd square me away. So I paid and when I got home to my dismay I see the flat in the back trunk. So they kept my brand new tire and left me with the flat. I've not had a chance to go back yet but I did send an email with no response yet. read more
