I came here for dinner and at that time there were only 3 other tables seated. Not a lot of people, so we got seated promptly. The servers and front desk are friendly! But if there is a wait, they have giant menus that you can view right as you step through the doors. I ordered the classic beef pepper rice. I thought it wasn't worth it. It does come out sizzling hot and oil will be splashing, so don't wear something too nice. This is all very pretty, but I thought the plate lacked flavor. The food is usually good, except it's very bland. You definitely need to use their salt to season the meat. The problem is the service!! Their staff does not want to be there and it shows! I'm not sure if they have a bad work environment or what, but the staff is usually unfriendly. Could be the reason why the restaurant is usually empty now, when it used to be very busy before. Upon entering it looked like a restaurant because there was a wait to be seated sign. Since I didn't want the full service I decided to togo my order. I ordered the shrimp pepper rice and the seaweed shake salad which both came out to $20. While waiting I decided to just go ahead and stay to eat my lunch. When my order came out I was disappointed to see that it was more like shrimp fried rice. While I was okay with my order not coming out in a sizzling plate, the order I got looked completely different from what is advertised. After a few bites I decided to ask a worker about it and she mentioned "togo orders have a big difference than sit in orders". Yes, I can clearly see that but why? I wish they didn't mix my food before putting it in a container. If I wanted fried rice I could make it at home and if I wanted nearly $20 fried rice I would rather go get the shrimp fried rice from din tai fung. Sigh. The portion sizes are HORRIBLE. It's 80% rice and 20% protein. I ordered salmon, but tell me WHY the salmon was so small I couldn't even find the pieces around the skillet. I was having my car serviced at Norm Reeves Honda and we were getting hungry so we took Uber to this restaurant. We got here right around the time that they opened and we were their first customer. We ordered: Beef Pepper Rice (Jumbo), Kimchi Beef Pepper rice and the chicken past which I forgot the name of it. My brother liked his jumbo Beef pepper rice which he said taste the same as what he remembers from years ago. His only complain was that there was that much meat. My order was a lot and I couldn't finish it. The last time I had this was in 2018 when I went to Singapore. And for my brother was before that when he was living in the Philippines. The prices here are somewhat average based on what other restaurants would charge. The place was clean. Service was fast. I think its good that we do not live close to one of their locations or else, we will be here often. Compared to other Pepper lunch I've been to including the Alhambra and Irvine locations, I would say this location is the easiest to get seating. Food quality is consistently good since I normally just order the original pepper beef which sometimes may be a little salty but not to the extent of overly. Service is pretty quick turn around, just order at the front and the table number cards are already on the table so you just pay and they'll tell you what table you can sit at. I would say the few times coming to this location, it ranges from 30-70% capacity which is great since other two locations sometimes has a wait for open tables. Don't forget to yelp check-in for a free side while it's available whenever you read this. Fries were very crispy like double fried which is good. read more

If you love sizzling plate - you'll need to try this place out. Location has ample parking but can get busy at times. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon around 6pm. There was no line or wait when we got there and I ordered the beef sizzling curry rice so did my eldest son, my younger one ordered chicken and beef pepper rice. It's self service so you order first and I have my kids reserve our seats. We were a group of 6 and we were able to find a table. It's clean and have enough tables but I docked a star as there were 2 tables not available -- they have a sign that you can't use it I believe there's a leak or some AC problems. I loved my order, I think if you don't order with curry you'll have to use the sauces that they have in the counter. The dish actually comes like a bit raw and you'll have to cook the beef on the sizzling plate. I checked my son's chicken - they cooked it of course but the beef you'll have to cook and turn it before mixing the sauce or curry with the rice. Price point - with drinks it'll be around $18-20 per person. If you order the premium steak or combos some of them are over $30+. read more

Unfortunately add ins were extremely stingy for the price. less than 10 green beans for $2.00 and at max a teaspoon of kale and less than a tablespoon of cabbage for $2.00 more- on that day and time the Man's bath room had no paper towels and soap was empty and at ordering machine receipt printing paper was out. Overall... increasing the add on portion sizes and insuring at the minimum that restroom supplies and receipt machine paper are better maintained could would have made our experience much more pleasant and desirable to return. My wife and I took a close friend here for lunch Friday the 19th, our friends first time, 3rd time for us. OH BOY HAS IT CHANGED! First of all we all ordered the sizzling curry, the beef didn't even look real, it looked more like something you'd buy at Costco. The curry had hardly any flavor,and the corn was ICE COLD on top of the rice, not only that, the restaurant was dirty! The young lady behind the counter was using the same filthy rag wiping off tables and touching everything with the same gloves on then preparing food orders with the same gloves! Then we couldn't believe what they did, right in the middle of lunch rush hour, a young man from the back comes out with a ladder and a REALLY FILTHY duster right in the middle of the food preparing area, goes up the ladder and cleans an A/C vent on the ceiling which dropped dirty crap everywhere! Then when he was done he move the ladder away and left the duster laying against the food prep table and continued to work. Then the young lady picks that same filthy rag up and starts wiping all the dirt from the vent off the food containers and tables and never rinsed out that rag. Me and two other people got here first before a big party and sat down first, yet the staff wanted us to move to bar seating (which have extremely uncomfortable seats) due to their bad planning. We sat at a table meant for four people, which is fine with three people. They even have a table meant for big parties. Only redeeming quality is the food. Ah Pepper Lunch. How I wanted to like you more. Mi Padre saw the restaurant after going to Jolibee with his crew and suggested we go after a day of chores. When we arrived, the ordering iPad kiosks were all down so they were taped over and it immediately detracted a little. The overhead screen menu goes by too fast - so I can see how it's ok when the iPads work, but when they don't, it's hard to settle on a plate. The staff couldn't be nicer when we ordered. The gist of this place is that it has a Japanese teppanyaki style feel, but utilizes a Korean style bibimbap sizzling bowl. To a western audience, the tartare-style red meat (raw) might be a bit intimidating and kind of a turn-off. That's where the concept of the sizzling plate falls a bit short. You might like a bit more rare, but be a slow eater. Or you might not want your food overdone, but it's dependent on the plate timing. There's definitely a wow factor when the food comes out, but it's at the expense of having your meat at the temperature you want. Also there is a LOT of food on this menu. I would recommend scaling back and concentrating in the quality and consistency of a couple rice dishes. I would cut the pasta dishes entirely. The rice dishes were better than the pasta and this specific kind of cook doesn't yield the best noodle flavor. My wife got the aglio e olio with seafood, but without a chef controlling the flavors, there's a lot of room for bland noodles. I did enjoy my two meat sizzling plate (I appreciated the corn and saffron in my rice), but my dads kimchi beef may have been the best choice. There's a wide gap in quality and sometimes less is more. Not awful, but I was hoping for a little more quality and stronger flavors. When I first walked in, I really was overwhelmed with the amount of choices to choose from their booklet menu. I felt rushed to make a decision on the spot as you have to order from the counter. You place an order and actually you have to tell them where you are going to be seated. To me, this seems rather archaic. I definitely prefer someone taking my order at my table. I proceeded to sit down at my predetermined table. My beef steak and chicken combo came out pretty quickly. It was interesting how they have the splatter guard. The food was generally pretty good, but the portions aren't very large. I was still a little hungry after eating the food that was presented to me. I think cooking your food in the pot is a novelty, but you definitely have to put in work to do this. I met a friend here for lunch. I had seen this restaurant in Japan but never ate there so was interested in trying one of their U.S. locations. Once inside you grab a number and use the QR code on it to order and pay at one of the kiosks in the entryway. Take a seat at a table and your food is brought to you. I ordered the Chicken Karaage Sizzling Curry. My lunch was delivered in a piping hot pan. A pile of rice with corn kernels on top along with bite-sized pieces of chicken atop thinly sliced onions sizzled in front of me. They put a paper border around the dish to help prevent it splattering on you. I removed mine once things cooled a bit. A gravy boat of curry accompanied my meal. I poured the curry over the dish and stirred, mixing it all up. Delicious! Oishi! The chicken was tender with a slightly crisp exterior and the flavor of the curry was perfect, just as you'd have in Japan. I loved my lunch although next time I'm going to get an extra order of that delicious curry sauce. read more
