The food was not that good. The bandeja paisa does not come with chorizo and the piece of steak that they give is very small. The maracuya drink had a weird after taste, it did not seemed fresh. The beans were very bland. I don't think I will be back to this location. I read in other posts that the owner was rude but he seemed nice when I was there so thats why I'm giving 2 stars. read more

This place is so so. The empanadas are good but i ordered a bandeja paisa and the sweet plantains were hard and not sweet at all, the beans are pinto beans and were much too salty, they should use kidney beans instead which taste more like the colombian cargamanto beans. I also ordered a dessert called dulce de nata which is like a milk custard and instead they gave me a slice of mozzarella cheese with arequipe (browned sweetened milk). I thought it was more like a Juan Pollo Big Mistake I wont be going back. They never indicated the rice would be white rice or the salad with the dinner special was green salad not potato salad as I was expecting. Wish I didn't have to give this place a star. Came here with my pregnant wife because she's been craving empanadas. We found this restaurant because of this app and noticed their promotion of two free empanadas. We came in excited to try out this place and as soon as we came in, we felt a bad vibe from the older guy at the counter. It's a hot day and with no AC, it's understandable to be grumpy.... Said never by a successful business. My wife ordered a cheese arepa and I ordered the empanadas. Was disappointed to find out they only had pork meat. So we only ordered four so we don't get too full and we can fit in our meal. When the arepa came out, it was bit too burnt at the bottom for her liking, so she gave it to me. Once our empanadas came out the guy only brought out one napkin, one set of utensils and one glass of water! If there are two people at a table it's common sense to bring out two of everything. Went up to pay and the older guy who I assume was the owner was extremely rude about not accepting this deal and then not letting me pay with my card. There was no sign anywhere in the restaurant about only accepting cash. Luckily I had cash in my car... Overall horrible experience. Never coming here again. Would not recommend! read more

I grew up in Philadelphia with plenty of Colombian food places to eat so I was pretty nervous when I moved here to LA whether I could find the same quality or even a Colombian restaurant at all. This place is awesome! Not much to look at on the outside but every dish I've gotten here has been delicious and def does not miss a step in terms of flavor and portions. If you come here and you're not sure what to get I would recommend the chuleta empanizada, try out an arepa con queso, empanada or two, bunuelo, and some chorizo as some side dishes to munch on with your main meal. Service was absolutely awful and we were served a spoiled soup. Drove over an hour and half to go to Peppe's Pollo and it was very disappointing. I love Colombian food and was willing to overlook the 20 mins to wait to receive our drink order and place our food order. After 40 mins the first meal was brought out. Then 12 mins later the second meal came out and then 10 mins later the third meal came out... and the soup was spoiled. It had a bad smell and it tasted spoiled. So extremely disappointed, the owner came over and there were no apologies and he proceeded to charge for the spoiled soup even though we asked him to please take it off the table as soon as it was served. The two of us shared our meal with the third person at this point having spent over an hour waiting for our food. It was so unfortunate but the service was absolutely awful and he was so rude. I understand mistakes happen but as a customer I was dumbfounded at the rudeness and charging us for a meal that was clearly not edible. The empandanas were cold in the middle, the bandeja paisa was good, the sobrebarriga was good and the authentic Colombian soup was spoiled and smelled bad. Very disappointing. read more

Out of 5 Colombian restaurants I have been to, peppes is the only one who has best tasting food. Let's start with their pan de Bono. They are baked fresh every day and they never disappoint, the texture is perfect with the combination of masa and cheese! Bathroom smelled like pee. Man use some bleach there. My empanada had a hair. I just left the food there. Shit if i would have paid after food is served I would have not paid. I was about to ask for refund and heard the owner telling his medical or some health care provider he wasn't going to pay because he wasn't happy with service. Come on man. You own your business and don't want to pay others?? and then we have to hear your personal problems. So guess I will never go there ever again. Please don't pay before you get served. Here we go. I am Mexican and my wife is from Colombia. When I first visited this place, I was shocked by the owner's bad customer service. My wife was very upset about his attitude too because she was so proud of showing me a little bid of Colombia. Any way, the service was terrible but let me tell you, the food is really good. To "Mike B", this is A COLOMBIAN restaurant, not Cuban. Yes, they've been going to different festivals over many, many years. Sorry you were not satisfied, but they are Colombian, not Cuban. Its hard to serve food after preparing for hours and plus handling food, all outdoors. These are professionals and have been in the buissness for over 30 years. Quality COLOMBIAN food.
