I come here every few months or so to pick up dog food and this is the first time that a cashier mentions some coupons available in the newspaper ad. I didn't have it so she added them herself from a stack behind her, plus she said that there was a coupon that allowed me to get a free bag of dog treats with my purchase and she ran to grab them. As always Pamela was just wonderful in cleaning up Little Bo. Bo needed surgery and was a mess after waiting six weeks to have her groomed. Little Bo also smelled like disinfectant, which had been liberally spread all over her belly. So our house smelled the same. Tangled and a little matted last week, Pamela brushed Bo out and bathed her so she smelled fresh and clean. And she cleaned the wound and some other areas that had taken a hit for the surgery. This past week Pamela had to do some detail work on the coat, as the undercoat was coming through, and she looked a bit scarey for Halloween. Bo now looks marvelous. It is only Sunday, and already she has lost one of her bows but still has her Halloween Bandanna. We would not go anywhere else for grooming. Thank You, Pamela!!!!! You are the best!!!! read more

Do not recommend Petco at all at this time especially if you buy anything online. They are not taking any refunds and cant give you a date in which they will take a return. Only way to return anything to wherehouse is if you want to pay for shipping out of pocket so be very careful on what you buy they are not running on a hood business model. read more

The place has a wide variety of supplies for your pet but when I went in June 29th, I was in the fish section and I noticed that there was small tiny containers with fish inside of them. I forgot the name of what the fish was but I noticed there was a good amount of what I would call 10-20 containers and I seen maybe 2-3 that had dead fish inside, a tiny containers is not a place to keep these fish in and yes I understand that they might fight cause that is what will happen but they died because they looked like either they had no room to swim, starvation, or another cause of some sort. The conclusion is please take of your pets even if they are as simple as a fish. They need at least a bigger tank for some room to swim in. Beside the fish, everything was nice because I was able to find what I needed for my tortoise. read more

This is going to be a long one!! I have been coming to this store with my husband for years. We've been seeing one of the employees, Liz, for a little over a year and a half. You see her and you just feel...welcome.. like a friend, not a customer. At first it was just for crickets for my beardies, but as time went on she showed me the beauty of all things reptile and aquatic, so when I was gifted a newborn baby turtle, naturally I went straight to her. It's been so easy to find her the past couple months, as she's been gifted the beauty of always having Tuesdays and Wednesdays off, which makes it easier for me (and all of her other normal customers she HAS to have) to find her. She by far has the BEST customer service attitude every time we see her, she's not afraid to be honest when it comes to correct animal care, and she never let's me leave without giving me every ounce of information I could need. My turtle is now a year old in a 75 all to himself, and my husband and I recently set up a 40 gallon saltwater, all with Liz's help. I don't know how they managed to land such a caring, beautifully amazing worker, but she deserves every good thing in the company. I'm baffled she's not working higher up in the system, but it has been wonderful watching her grow. COVID-19 brought down many people's spirits, but Liz has never let it hurt her. Even when it's extremely terribly busy in her area, she always let's me know that she'll be with me as soon as possible, and I know it's because fish people go crazy over what fish they want everyday! I know this now because of the massive tank I've had set up for only 4 months and my want to constantly put more things in there‍ Anyway, this is just a well deserved bragging review about a worker in retail who will exceed your every expectation. This is my pet Oni I had owned for about a 1 year+. If it wasn't for Liz a employee who had helped me in the beginning on everything I need to know about owning a bearded dragon I probably wouldn't kept him in such good health. She helped me understand the responsibilities of owing these pets and made sure I knew what I was getting into before I left that store with him and his supplies. But most recently she helped me with my boyfriend turtle who we rescued from our yard. We don't know what happened but we found it and tried our best to give it a home. But we soon to come to find out he is badly injured. I don't know anything about turtles just the basics. So I took my boyfriend to go see Liz at this Petco. She helped me and my boyfriend beyond what I would've asked for. She made sure we understood the problem and what we needed to take care of the little guy. She helped us tremendously with anything we needed to question that needed to be answer and again she didn't let us leave the store until we knew everything about the health of a turtle and that was very sweet and kind of her. Overall the employees are amazing people but I love to visit Liz with any question I have with my pet Oni and I know I will get the best answer from her especially now that I have the responsibility to nurture a turtle back to health I know I can ask Liz and she will always be there to help me. read more

I also take advantage of going because my fur baby can leave the house and enjoy shopping. We recently took him in for grooming after having a pleasant experience with Jenifer. She is very good at making you feel comfortable and taking care of you puppy. I will most definitely come back and have his grooming at this location and request Jenifer since she was so helpful. We just went to petco and try to buy a live fish, it was about 8:45 and they close at 9. Employee said they stop selling live animals at 8:30 he also mention he could ask if they let him work late. We asked the cashier if this was a company policy and said "no that was the store manager decision " I can't believe they willing to loose a sale and most important a customer due to not wanting to work overtime or stay a little after hours to take care of a customer. Oh well, lost a sale and a customer!! This was my favorite go to store but after this issue will no longer be, I can't afford to drive all the way there just to find out lazy employees and or manager trying to meet numbers so he or she can bonus will not sale you what you need! I honestly don't even know where to begin with this place! Yelp says trained groomers ya right? A little disclaimer my dog is extremely friendly he loves people and would never ever bite so you can see why I was surprised when Petco called me telling me they have to send my dog home because he was being aggressive. Let me also point out they said that he wasn't done but he was being sent home. I immediately knew they weren't telling me the truth. I had to go and pick him up and when I saw him I wanted to scream. I have a husky and when I got him he didn't even look like my dog. They left his head fluffy and shaved his fur including his undercoat (which isn't safe for huskies because they have sensitive skin) I will attach a picture of him before and after. If this place didn't know how to groom my dog they should have at least let me know before taking him, it's gonna take months for him to look the same, there is no way of fixing it!!! I'm completely devastated and furious about what they did to my dog. This is completely heartbreaking, our dog is not just a dog he is our family and now he's going to have to suffer because they completely shaved his fur! Not only did they shave his fur they tried to blame my dog trying to cover up there mistakes! They told me my dog was aggressive and was biting the groomer yet the groomer came out petting my dog how does that make sense?!?Please NEVER take your pet to Petco to get groomed this is animal abuse you can literally Google it it's not safe to shave a husky this IS ANIMAL ABUSE!!! Literally the worst customer service. I checked on their website before I came to the store to see if a particular dog food was available, which it said it was in stock. My husband and I went to get it, but didn't see it on the shelf. So I approached two employees (one with brown hair with a pink spot on the back of her head, and the other had curly brown hair tied in a fluffy ponytail) who were standing off to the side an an aisle talking about their coworkers. I stood there, waiting for them to at least acknowledge me while they talked. When they finally did, they literally just stared at me. No, "Hi, how I help you?" Or "Did you have a question?" Nothing. So I said, "Um, your website said you had Natures Recipe Healthy Skin in stock, but I can't seem to find it on the shelf." The curly haired woman responded, "Uhhhh, noooooooo. I just put everything out." To which I said, "Oh, that's odd your website said it was in stock." And she said, "It's probably a wrong stock count." I understand that maybe she knew for sure that there weren't any in the back, but she didn't check to off, and definitely didn't have to have a rude attitude about it. I only go there for simple things because PetSmart is too far a few years back I took my English Mastiff there to get her nails cut and when I went back to get her her front elbows were bleeding and I asked what happened no one had an answer but I did it's because they drug her across the floor it broke my heart.. she was an older sweetheart she didn't have a mean bone in her body she would probably lay down and let another dog kill her I can't imagine why they would treat her like this even till this day I still cry about it.. because they hurt her and I feel guilty because I should have protected her better read more

***Do not trust**** we took our beloved older pup for her routine grooming and they either dropped or hit her. She has been unable to walk ever since we picked her up. The groomers didn't tell us anything, so I assume she was feeling down but once I saw her try to get up and stumble I knew something was wrong. We called a dozen times and never get an admission or response and now my dog isn't going to make it. I am completely aware that accidents happen but they wouldn't tell us anything. My puppy had an appointment for a cut and they said it would be 3 hours. I received a phone call 3 hours later and they asked if i wanted to pick up my puppy bc his entire face was extremely swollen. When I arrived to pick him up, my puppy looked so sad and his entire face was swollen and hot. Pamela, the groomer, was incompetent and didn't know what she was doing and kept making dumb suggestions, such as leaving my puppy or maybe I dropped him off looking like that. It was ridiculous. The manager and the assistant manager walked in and they were just as useless all they said was you don't have to pay as if I planned on paying for horrible service. I love this Petco location. I have never had a bad experience, and the employees are always very friendly and easy to approach. Maritza is hands down one of the best employees that they have. I am a customer that comes to this Petco probably every other week, and I'm always very pleased. The lines are never long and employees are always welcoming and asking if we need help with anything. Dis-appointment. How i started to describe my "wants" I started with "keep mY maltipoo head full " then other stuff about grooming like a cut and clean (underside and privates). Encouraged by Shannon for $10 more i can get this package with "facial cleaning" special whitening shampoo, paw pads trimmed etc. Fish , line and.. I sunk!! 2hrs later I decided to pay first and tipped included... Mistake!! After pymnt, i saw my and i was not impressed... immediately i noticed that she trimmed the mussel, probably to enhance the 'Facial cleaning' but she lost her cute fuzzy face and she shortened the top of her head( the area between her ears). ALSO, not even any bows like the first time. I recommend 1) to see the work first then pay 2) stress in the beginning AND as final instruction what not to touch. 3) the package is only worth it if it ALL gets done. Love the Grooming salon. My babies always come back looking so handsome. This review is for the store. I was in line waiting to pay for services, and it was a very long wait. There was only 1 cashier open that took FOREVER. Finally another cashier opened up but I was annoyed when I realized that she was assisting the customer cashier #1 was already helping . All because the customer had a German Shepherd. When it was finally my turn Cashier #2 didn't even bother to acknowledge me because she was too busy talking to the customer with cashier #1 who was STILL helping her! Cashier # 2 didn't even thank me or anything until I sarcastically thanked her and reminded her to not ignore the customer she is helping. I had a return to make after an hour of my purchase with the receipt in hand but had such a horrible experience. The "manager" Kristen, shouted and yelled at me that I had to provide my ID or I would have to go to another petco and slammed the product on the counter. I never had such a hard time doing a return even with the receipt. I pointed it out to her that the man infront of me In line did a return without filling out any form of paperwork or showing valid id. I was a victim to a rascist manager who could've carried herself more professionally instead of yelling at a customer inside the store's building. Will never be returning after this harassment. No one likes to feel like they are being ripped off and that's how I felt and then felt very inconvenienced....I went to the store to buy Frontline. First thing is when you go to the aisle it has the cards to pick up to take to the cash register because it's locked up. There were no cards left for the small dog dose. So I pick a different brand and take that empty box to the register to trade for the real one. I ask at the register and the girl checked for me. She added that I should just always come up and check and not trust the aisle. She did have it in stock. She did not tell me the cost until I had already decided to donate and then she said my total was $70 for a 3 month supply! I was a bit shocked since I'm used to closer to $50 but I said ok since i needed it and my fur baby and my little 7 month old baby boy were at my mom's. Since it still bothered me I started price comparing everywhere and in my search I was shocked to see it was priced at $34.99 online at Petco available for pick up in the exact store I went to! I called the store and asked if there was a reason I didn't get the the sale price online. The same girl who checked me out said well you can bring it in and we will exchange it and price match. So I now had to bring my 7 month old son and my rescue pup who is not a fan of stores to wait in line. When I asked the girl why this happened she just shrugged and said it happens a lot. I asked why and does this mean I have to constantly check the website before I come in and she said "yeah probably. " you know when her advice would of been helpful??? When I was in line the first time. I've been in other stores where sales associates tell me to check online or check for coupons or sign up for rewards to get an email...nothing like that from this girl. Other stores do this because they want you to return. I will not be purchasing from Petco stores again. (I told the man behind me and the item he was buying was $6 less online as well). Unprofessional behavior from Petco of Fontana!. The trainer may be a great professional dog trainer, I don't know because he spent the 1st half hour of the class complaining about his "Latino" mother-in law and his "flamboyant" ex-boss. After his rant I asked him if he was a racist and/or homophobic. He replied that he was homophobic. Well at least he was honest, but what does this info have to do with dog training? He said he was having a bad day, an angry bashing day I would say. If I were his boss I would send him to be trained. This is a business not the family kitchen table. Pro up Petco!!!! I spoke to a store manager and she was supportive, though it was hard for her to restrain her laughter. I wasn't amused, but polite. I asked for a refund. I was assured that I won't have a problem receiving a refund. I will not purchase any services there again, including the grooming department (that was another disappointing experience). The store part of this location is fine. Fish tanks should be checked more often, I had to explain to my 3 year old nephew that several fish were "sleeping" - but even he knew fish shouldn't be floating at the top of the tank. The review isn't based off of the store though, because the store I would give 4 stars - it's the grooming section that gets 1 star... would be 0 stars if it were permitted! Once we walked in the door it stunk so badly I had to walk out and catch my breath before going back in. Animal shelters smelled better than this place. There were two older women, one grooming, one sweeping. They were chit chatting about something, laughing and such, and even though they saw us standing there, the continued with their conversation for at least another 5 minutes. Completely rude. The one grooming was being a bit rough with the pup, I felt bad for the little guy (or girl). When the sweeper finally decided to come help us, after sighing like we were bothering her, I asked what the pricing was. She handed me a brochure, didn't say a word, and started walking away. I said, "Excuse me, I have a couple questions." I asked two questions - what did I need to bring with my dog when I brought her in and if it were better to make an appointment or just come in anytime. I got short, rude answers. "Shot records and make an appointment", before she turned back around to walk away. I said, "Nevermind, I'll take my business where it's appreciated" and walked out. Never have I experienced an employee been so amazingly rude and for no reason at all! We used to go to this location a lot for our dogs' food, toys, beds, houses... never again will I shop here because of the experience with the department who is actually handling animals. Been going to this petco since the start of this year, it was great at first until the past 2 days. Yesterday, I decided to go exchange my 55 Gallon tank for a different one and upgrade my 20 Gallon tank to a 29 Gallon -- Note this is with Petco's $1 per Gallon sale. I come into the store and got my exchange for the first tank, while the second tank, I know for sure I am expected to pay a range of $9-$13 difference in cost + taxes. Going up to the register, the employee (won't say her name, we'll just call her Employee 1) does the transactions for me. After a bunch of scans and whatnot, the total comes out to be $17.40, after all the returns and exchanges, I stand there a bit confused as why the total is so high but I pay it anyways. Later that night, I am looking at the receipt and I am 100% sure they overcharged me on taxes. After checking the costs on the full price of the tanks + discount, I ended up with a cost of $33 on the 29 gallon tank while the money I got back from the 20 gallon tank was $21.60. Obviously the price differential is $12-- which is what I should have paid rather than $17.40. So I go back to that petco today, and I meet the same employee, I explain to her that I was overcharged, and immediately before I finish, she interrupts me and says I have to pay sales tax. Right there, I was a little surprised that before she decides to recheck the transaction, she tries to prove me wrong. So she goes to the register, reprints the entire transactions and reads it to me. Immediately I catch what was wrong and that I was charged extra for exchanging a 55 gallon tank. She rang up the 55 Gallon + 29 gallons as purchases and I explain to her the taxing is wrong yet she doesn't listen and keeps saying "You have to pay sales tax", I tell her I know and that the tax is wrong, so she prints me a blank sheet of paper, I write down step by step, the costs of each tank, the differences, the tax, the full prices, and the tax rates. After writing it all, I explain that the difference in the tanks should be $12 with taxes included and that I was charged $17.40, yet again, she says "You have to pay sales tax". Obviously, she isn't paying attention and is not cooperating. So she decides to call employee 2 over, so I explain to the 2nd employee and she understands my situation and that it is probably a machine error, I'd have to call corporate. Then she leaves. So I am stuck again with employee 1. Right then again, she says "You have to pay sales tax", at this point I'm annoyed, I show her the numbers I wrote down and that my taxes should not be $8, and only should be $4. Shes says okay and yet AGAIN she decides to say "Ya have to pay saaales tax". I'm extremely annoyed at this point and tell her the machine is wrong and she needs to do the calculations herself. She decides to tell me the machine is not wrong and it is right. I'm infuriated at this point but of her lack of attention. So I repeat to her what I should have been paid and I was overcharged, and she says "Okay, soooooo what would you want me to do?" Obviously , I did not stand there for literally an hour talking to her just to complain, I wanted a form of reimbursement. She calls up the 3rd employee and this time, that 3rd employee, decides to redo the entire transaction, after doing a bit of scanning,the total came out to be $15.40, somehow less, but still not correct. At this point, I'm fed up, I just want to leave and I'll just take any reimbursement I can get. The 1st employee completely ditches the scene without saying a word just to avoid the situation while the 3rd employee wouldn't say a thing while helping me. I get my reimbursement, leave, and I am sure never to return there again. Overall, staff was extremely extremely rude, refuses to use their brains and decides to read a machine and fails to recognize errors. I would give this store a zero rating if I could, I'm never going back here again. Would not recommend to anyone. The service is absolutely awful and all they care about is getting paid and not really helping the customers. read more
