I have taken my "little" 80 lb puppy to see Erica twice now for nail clipping, and she has gone above and beyond my expectations to take care of her. The first time I went in, she got a bath too, and Erica noticed a raw area on her tail, which she treated and explained to me what I should tell the vet. My dog also has really annoying nails to clip, and she was patient and so sweet to my dog. Because of that treatment, I'll be coming to Petco more often than I normally would. Thanks Erica! Also, they have honored all of my competitor coupons & ads from any other store. Although they are usually a little more expensive, when I bring in an ad, they are happy to honor the competitor price completely. read more

I took my dog here for training and I must admit I did not have the best experience other than getting to know my trainer's personal life (which I was not interested in). However, I have gone back because this is the onl pet store in the area and I must admit that I have had better experiences with the groomer and I noticed that they fired this trainer (and there must have been issues with the trainer because they offered to let me come back again to retrain my dog). In any event, I've started ordering my dog's food online and I have decided to take her to her vet to get her nails trimmed instead. I just didn't have a whole lot of confidence in these folks but hopefully things will change over time. read more

There is a foul odor as soon as you enter the store. It smells as if it hasn't been cleaned. The people there are also rude. You will notice some of the employees on their cell phone while working. read more

Was trying to buy a 20 gallon fish tank and a gold fish and the girl working there said I can't sell u a goldfish cause it will outgrow the tank...they lost a big sale cause of that and we went to the Petco in Arlington Heights and they had no problem selling me goldfish with a 20 gallon tank! Avoid this location! Very inexperienced staff that can't handle simple return transactions at the register which creates long lines because two staff members need to do one transaction. I was also double charged and didn't even notice! I actually had to come back the same day to make an exchange and when looking over my receipt noticed they had charged me for 2 bags of dog food when I only purchased one. The staff member that was handling my exchange didn't even apologize for basically stealing my money when they messed up. She just laughed it off and told me to have a nice night. Double check your receipts when leaving this location to make sure they aren't charging you for multiple items. read more

worst pet store ever, their employee including manager seem fradulent. very out dated chek out system. they said their cashier computer can't process my payment at the moment and they can't print the receit. As they couldn't process payment I couldn't take things I got. later on I found out that the paymet was taken out of my checking. I 've been calling them everyday since then for reinursement. they are keep making excuse that they don't have any record in the system If there is negative star in rating, I'd ive them minus 5 star. read more

This is an update after dealing with this place a bit more. the trainers actually don't train your dog to do much more than beg for treats. The trainer never answered any of our important questions and always just said we will get to that another session. We stopped going with four sessions left. I figured they would call us and ask where we are. Never did. I guess they just want your $$$ and as long as your dog doesn't bite them than it is a good session. I would expect a much better service after what I payed. So in the end we will be taking our pup to a real trainer not just some store employee. I bring my puppy here for training. The trainers are great. They know there stuff inside and out. The food/toy pricing is pretty good compared to other pet stores and the training pricing is fantastic. I would give this place 5 stars but after trying to return a defective toy one afternoon without even giving a good look at the broken toy Jennifer snapped and talked through her teeth at my girlfriend and I then proceeded to trow the toy back at my girlfriends face saying "fine exchange it for what ever you want." I felt so insulted i couldn't even look at her after that. I am in retail myself and understand how frustrating it can be. She should never talk to anyone that way. If i ware her manager I would have had her apologize immediately. I will continue to bring my dog here as the rest of the package is fantastic, but as stated earlier I would remove one person. I don't like to write negative reviews but this had to be out there. read more

I love this store. I have been bringing my Marley here for training and puppy playtime since he was 8 weeks old. I love how the staff always gives him attention and knows him on a personal basis. Eric is an excellent trainer. Marley and I have been with him for nearly 9 months now. I'm always looking forward to our training sessions. It has helped us so much. Marley has a dominate personality. He is a wonderful yellow lab with lots of energy. Eric showed me how to be the pack leader without any aggressive measures. No choke collars! No animal abuse! Eric trains both of us. The trainer doesn't go home with you, so you should know and understand how to train your dog. Eric makes me understand even if he needs to go over it more than once. He is very patient with me and answers all my questions, even if it isn't during a non training session. I wish that Eric would run a doggy daycare. I would be so comfortable leaving my Marley with him. Marley is an excellent dog due to the help that I have received from Eric. A lot of people in the store tell me how good of a dog Marley is. I tell them that Eric is his trainer. People also stop to watch Marley, Eric, and I during training. They are always amazed. Marley is so happy every time he sees Eric in the store. There are times we just stop by to say, "hi" to him. I am very satisfied with the training sessions from Eric. I highly recommend Eric as a trainer for your dog. He's very good with all kinds of dogs and very knowledgeable. He really knows his stuff. read more

I will not be giving me this pet store my money. In their defense, they specialized in pet supplies - not pets. I do not believe they care for their pets and they should not be allowed to sell them. We went there to look at the betas they have and walked in on 4 geckos in a 10 gallon tank at 50% off where the cold air from the outside was blowing on them every time the door opened. They looked nearly dead and uneaten crickets and bugs had been left in their tank. When we got to the over the betas, there must have been around 50 tiny containers full of the sad little fish. These containers filled up all the beta racks AND were piled on top of the plants display in the aisle. they were flared and stressed constantly from seeing one another and many had fin rot. We noticed a 'clearance section' there too - 35% off of betas that had been sitting in bowls for 6 months. It really hit me hard to see the sticker on a full grown very sad beta's container that read "baby boy" and was crossed out in black. The date on top said he had been there since February, and grown up in the terrible conditions. We were sad and angry that they would order more pets (I found more geckos in the back) when they had not even sold their current stock. This shows incredibly bad management and lack of care and will NEVER be going into that store again. read more

I recently started coming here more and really enjot it. I gave this location 4 stars just because it is a little cramped in there! But the workers are always willing to help me find what I need and are very nice, plus my dog LOVES the doggy ice cream available in their freezer section! read more
