I went to Pete's on New Year's Eve eve with a friend and her husband. They had ordered a seared ahi appetizer and shared. The fish was tender and served on a bed of spicy mango and red pepper salsa...super good with my dirty Absolut martini. Bar didn't have the goose, which I found odd, but enjoyed the drink nonetheless. The bar is nice, service was great, atmosphere a little noisy, the place was packed. We both had the salmon, served over pasta with a light lemon garlic parsley sauce. It was good and plenty. I ordered a glass of Chardonnay to go with my meal, and tried "Pete's" wine...surprisingly good...and I didn't feel ripped off like in some places. Really, should one glass of wine cost $18? I've been here twice. The first time the food was barely passable and the soft drinks were plain awful. How hard is it to mess up a soda from a machine? When I mentioned it to the waiter, he looked at me like I was talking in a foreign language. Trying to find the waiter was a trick as well. These people pull a disappearing act as soon as you order. The second time I went I gave them my name, and they said it would be 25 minutes. Half an hour goes by waiting. When I asked them how much linger, they said my name was crossed off. Was disappointed. Beer selection is good, wine is not.... Stay away from the house wine.... Ordered the Ahi appetizer and have to say that it must be frozen and not well thawed prior to cooking.... Parts of the seared appetizer were quite crusty while others were way over cooked. Diane had the sirloin salad and overall it was very acceptable.... However, it could be cut in half on the salad size and would be perfectly acceptable. The Twisted Knots were delightful and I would personally offer a variety of dipping sauces vs. just Ranch and Marinera. The in-house beers were acceptable and the bar was full service. We ate at the bar and our waitress/bartender was proficient but not overtly friendly at all. The overall vibe was locals looking for a drink and "fast" " general" food. I couldn't wait for this place to open to give it a try. I felt bad they were delayed in opening due to the pandemic. We ordered about a week after they opened through door dash. Our order was missing 1 item. The food we did get was pretty good. We decided to give it another try a week later. This time we got a completely different order. Our name was on the tag, but it was someone else's phone number. I'm sure the person who ordered this was not very happy as it was a full rack of ribs and a steak. (our order was a small pizza and burger). I tried to give the restaurant a call and the number I called didn't even ring, it just said that a voice mail box had not been set up yet. My boyfriend and I went here for a birthday. The service was fine, waitress was friendly. I got the steak flatbread. Tasty but each toasted slice had one tiny piece of steak. My boyfriends fish and chips, he said looked and tasted like he DoorDash it from Dairy Queen. Just tiny dark pieces, not flaky. Pretty pricy for what you get. I dunno what people are complaining about but this place is good! I have gone many different times over the last few months and the food is great every time. They have a could of ciders on tap that are good and it's always jam packed. This is one of the better places I've found in Redding and their onion rings are awesome! Want a salad? Come here! Friday afternoon I ordered clam chowder...honestly it should be called Potato Soup! I also had the buffalo chicken salad and the tiny bit of avacado was hard but the biggest disappointment was with the very small amount of chicken served. Wow! What a fantastic experience our family of 6 had tonight! This was our first time of eating at Pete's and it was memorable! Our waitress April was friendly, attentive and competent providing excellent service. Everything we ordered was delicious. We had chicken wings, burgers, seafood pasta, ahi tuna, sweet potato fries, garlic fries, shrimp and more all of which was super yummy! Came into this place with my girlfriend and her friends for one of their birthdays . The food was decent .not anything to write home about . I got the Pete's burger. Asked for medium rare and got well done . Not a big deal though . The waitress was really nice as was everyone else in the building but a few things to gripe on .Waitress got my drink order wrong and the fries where also cold . I went to Pete's on Friday night expecting to be seated outside but this restaurant was offering indoor dining. Hoards of people waiting at the door, inside the door and shoulder to shoulder jam packed at the bar, only one or two people masked. Bartenders, wait staff wearing masks below the nose. I was at the restaurant for an hour, 3 different waitresses came to our table to ask us for drink orders. After ordering dinner and drinks we sat there for 35 minutes. No water, no drinks and lots of staff wandering around ignoring us. Finally we gave up and left. Very poor service and total lack of COVID 19 precautions. I will not be back. read more

I was so excited for this place to open ..... it is simply horrible. Ordered Hawaiian sliders, he took a overcooked hamburger patty cut it in quarters and put a quarter on the bun. The coleslaw was old and wilted. The meat I had a texture that I cannot even describe. It was a mushy and grainy like sand. Pisswater Pete's is a new low and just another bad brewpub. Ordered an IPA, got a lager. Ordered the house burger, got a sponge used to soak up a spill of rancid grease and cherry syrup. When we first tried this place we thought we found a new great place to eat out in town, however, the last couple times we have gone it has really been off. The Parmesan-Garlic wings, which were our favorite, didn't have either parm or garlic on em and the next time they were just fat and chewy and because the carrots and celery they are served with are all wet the wings are sitting in a puddle of water adding to their sogginess.
