Gave it 2 stars because I did eat the food. Lol but I was not impressed. Ordered through DoorDash. I had the chicken enchiladas with "lime" rice and black refried beans. The sauce on the enchiladas was watery. Rice also had no flavor and was rubbery like that rice that's already cooked and you throw the bag in the microwave. We also got the Monterey burrito, quesadilla and flautas. More of the same. Low quality and no flavor. I did try the Mexican slaw that came with the flautas. It was tasty and the only thing that tasted like maybe it had been made today. They gave us a bag of chips. We all were able to have 5 chips each between the four of us. Is it Mexican? Is it Latin? Is it all American? Mannn, idk, this place is confusing. It's like it wants to be a high end Latin restaurant while still playing all American Country Diner music. Basically, all the records you hear blaring are from the 50s classic rock Americana albums they play on the TIME jukebox informercials. Music CLASHES with the pictures of indigenous Latin American kids hanging on the walls. I guess the idea is if you give people strong margaritas they won't care about ambiance? I will say though, the margaritas ARE strong, probably the strongest in the area if you're trying not to venture off too far. Food is semi decent. Best queso EVER and their margs are on point. I usually get the chicken flautas or quesadillas. The guacamole isn't table side but it's still really good and fresh but honestly I go here for the queso... it's white queso with chorizo in it and it just has tons of flavor and is not bland at all. Beef Championes ( may be spelled wrong) didn't taste the same and they don't serve other side dishes which used to come with it. Prices have gone up but quality has gone down. Went with my wife for a Saturday night dinner and what can I say? Wow! Why have I not been here before? The locale is in an upscale development off 380 near Stonebridge Drive. It's a brand new place. We went in and found a very clean and modern restaurant with a nice bar. They did a good job on design. We were immediately greeted by a young lady who took us to a table in the main dIning area. Server was prompt and took our order of 2 margaritas. He brought chips and salsa until the drinks arrived. Timing was pretty quick. Margs were perfect and wifey and I had another. I ordered the taquitos and she had enchiladas. This was authentic with Mexican cheese, lots of veggies and extras you wouldn't find at all the other places around. Owner and host checked on us. This place is a hidden gem. Try it! We did and now it's our go to for Mexican. Two thumbs up. read more

I so wanted to love this location. We used to go to the former one quite a bit. I was so excited to see a new one going in with what appeared to be a rooftop patio!! We could see the rooftop happenings from the street! So on a 75 degree afternoon a friend and I popped in for an early patio dinner. Sorry sisters - the rooftop is owned by the Keller Williams realty in the same strip center for their private events. Not Petra's fault - but if you are looking for a patio vibe, this isn't your spot. They have a few outside tables on their level in a fenced in area......but by no means the place if you are seeking an awesome patio experience. Beyond that, the food is OK. Service is OK. I have no "negative" feedback for the chips, salsa, and veggie tacos we shared. Our server was polite and attentive enough. As other reviews have stated, wooden booths are not terribly comfortable. First of all, we used to frequent the McKinney location about 9 years ago. From what I remember, we really enjoyed ordering dinner to go on occasion. This new restaurant is very nice, clean and well appointed in a beautiful building. The chips and salsa were really good. The salsa had a great flavor. Also, we had the guacamole and it was fair but we added a bit of pepper and salsa. It was pretty good after that small addition. My husband ordered the Chicken Mexicano and I had the Chicken Los Cabos. The chicken with veggies were served over rice in a bowl. Both of the chicken dishes were very dry and lacked flavor. Again, we added some salsa to improve the flavor. The veggies were decent but the chicken was just so dry. Maybe we will order the tacos if we try again. read more

I love this restaurant! I have been twice-once for dinner and once for lunch today. I went with friends for dinner and had the Shrimp Salad that was suggested by one of the ladies that has ordered it several times. It was absolutely delicious and so fresh. The shrimp were perfect and the dressing was amazing! The chips are SO good along with two salsas they serve you. Everyone loved what they ordered and we had excellent service! Today for lunch I ordered the GUAJILLO CHICKEN TACOS and my hubby ordered the FLAUTAS and they both were EXCELLENT! Home run both times for food, freshness and service! My family and another family we are close with eat here almost every week together. I get my favorite meal with the salmon. It always fresh, lots of flavors. I enjoy the slaw and the veggies with it. Food is good. The reason for the 1 star review is that none of the employees are wearing face masks. Covid 19 is on the increase. Management and staff are part of the problem. Manager replied to my review and says that my 1 Star review is not warranted. The staff is wearing gloves but not changing them from table to table. Hardly sanitary during a pandemic. I would think that any restaurant would strive to be better than their competition and the claim that you are doing what is required of any restaurants in North Texas rings hollow to me during these times. Now that the governor has closed all bars and cut back restaurant capacity, I wonder if you have decided to change your tune? Also on the table is another complete shut down. Great place! Amazing food, and nice atmosphere to meet with family or friends! Chips, salsa, queso, and guacamole were all a hit. Bartender made delicious margaritas and had a few variations that everyone liked. I drove up from Dallas to meet some friends there, and the Sour Cream Enchiladas were worth 50 minutes in rush hour traffic! A little warm to sit out on the patio, but I would totally come back here in cooler weather just to enjoy that food outside in a cool breeze. Definitely coming back! Went here for lunch. Our first time here after saying we would go for months. Holy crap! We thought we had died and gone Heaven! we LOVED the place. It's small but kind of feels like home. Owner operated by a lovely family. Lori, owner, greeted us like we were old friends. Took us to our table, then sat down by me and chatted. They brought the plate out and first thing was the aroma of this hot, tender, absolutely KILLER pulled pork Then, the other stuff on the plate was to pile on the pork taco. Mexican slaw, carmelized onions, slices of avocado etc. The meat was hot out of the skillet and very moist. Comes with Charro beans. Hubby got the chili relleno and said it was the best he ever had. We both LOVED this place. To top it off, we ordered churros. OMG! 4 of them... HUGE! Just the perfect ratio of cinnamon and sugar. Comes with strawberry sauce and caramel sauce. So disappointed! Tried the new location on University for the first time and it's not the same at all. The tortilla soup used to be my favorite lunch! It tasted great and was loaded with toppings making one cup a nice hearty meal. The new recipe tastes different now, and has none of the toppings! I had creamy both with 2 bites of chicken and some melted cheese. No rice, no cilantro, no tortilla strips, no avocado, and no fresh tortillas on the side. Time to find a new go to. :( After the response from the restaurant I did go back and order again. This time my soup did come with more toppings, however they were already mixed into the soup instead of being on the side to add in on my own like they were in the past. Petra's TEX MEX. I got off my car and immediately got the faint sound of good music, but I couldnt distinguish it. As I walked towards the restaurant the music got clearer. It was some good Mexican music to set the tone. We were promptly greeted and ushered to our table. Menu isnt extensive but it has good variety. I got the tacos al pastor and opted for a 3rd taco. The music and menu made me think this place was authentic, until I got asked, corn or flour tortilla. Oh wait this is TEX MEX. I say corn, and question if I made a right decision since Al Pastor is traditionally on the very Mexican side of the Tex Mex spectrum. Emma our waitress was amazing. Very sweet, attentive, and did I say sweet? Our food quickly came, and wow. I immediately questioned my decision on the third taco. I was greeted with 3 normal sized corn tortillas filled with meat, pineapple pieces and an avocado slice. If you know Al Pastor, you know its thin slice pork meat on a spit, or a trompo as you Texans refer to. This meat however was shredded. Very similar to carnitas. I take a bite, and Wow. True Al Pastor flavor. I have really struggled to find TRUE al pastor flavor in much of Texas and Southern California. Of all places, I really didnt expect to find it here (no offense, the place is great, just not in a tex mex joint when all the mexican places dont offer it to this degree). Had a terrible experience tonight. Ordered our dinner. Included queso and chips. Get home and no chips. Call them and they say "swing back by". Well..... it's not that simple. It's a 15 minute drive each way. Drove back for chips. Asked them to replace the queso which will be cold by the time I return with the chips for the family. Manager told me she "takes it home some nights and heats it up in the morning and it's good". Get home with the replacement chips and queso and the chips are stale. Soggy. Chewy. Call back. Ok, coming from Prosper side, have to go way pass the restaurant to do a U-Turn, so started with a disadvantage. Not sure how many Mexican restaurants don't include chips and salsa with an entree, but they don't. They were nice about it, but build that cost in, we don't want to see it. Then you many need to evaluate your value, I'm talking about carry out Tortilla soup. It was tasty, but you use the smaller container that doesn't make sense. (Either does putting the 4 tortilla chips strips in advance). The sour cream enchiladas were tasty too, but not sure of the value here either.
