I should have known when I called and repeated my order that it'd be wrong. I ordered a jumbo PMS with jalapeños. What did I get? Pepperoni and jalapeño jumbo. Why was I asked THREE TIMES if they were going to get it wrong?! I get there and it's a packed house - SO many people waiting for their orders. I get it - this place's food is great, I could NOT agree MORE... but a boring-ass pepperoni and jalapeño pizza?? When I clearly said pepperoni, mushroom, Italian sausage and half jalapeño. I ordered online a linguini alle clams with a red wine sauce. To my surprise it came with no god damn sauce. I swear to god they took the noodles out of the boiling water straight onto the plate added the fucking clams and called it a day. Petrillo's Extra Large Pizza has been a staple at gatherings with friends since high school, but I've never actually ordered from here for myself. Called in Friday evening and ordered the Medium Petrillo's Specialty Pizza and an order of Fried Calamari for an at-home movie night. Order was ready in ~30 mins. Pizza had plentiful toppings, but not enough marinara sauce as it was a little dry. My friends and I just added our own hot sauce to taste. Fried Calamari was good and well-seasoned, a little salty on its own - but paired well with squeezing lemon juice and then dipping their marinara sauce. Once I found out about the Tuesday special, I immediately knew I had to come here. A large pizza for $19.45 is a good deal since the pizza is actually LARGE. Normally, it is about $33. For this special, we are only allowed to get one topping, no half & half toppings allowed. I'm glad I chose sausage because their sausage was really flavorful and yummy. The sausage is spread evenly on the pizza and goes well with the cheese. The pizza had A LOT of cheese and the dough was pretty thick. I liked the garlic flavor sprinkled all over the pizza. Quality is definitely better than the big pizza chain shops. I placed my order over the phone and went to pick it up. They told me it would be ready in 30 minutes, and it was. Didn't like how the girl at the register was playing around with her airpods, while I just stood there looking at her for a while, but no big deal... Pertrillo's Pizza is delicious, however the carry out experience was terrible. When I called my order in I was told it would be ready in 45 minutes. Which wasn't bad if it really was a 45 min wait. I waiting about an hour in a half. I understand that it was a busy night, but the 2 girls taking the orders had a very horrible attitude. They were rude to everyone. It made waiting for food not worth my time. I went to the dine in portion to ask if my order was ready, I didn't want to bother with the 2 other girls at the carry out register. If I ever do decide to eat Petrillos again it will probably be a dine in experience, since they were fantastic when I went to ask about my carry out order. read more

I used to live in Socal and this was one of my favorite pizza spots. Specifically the Bianca and I always add ham to it. It has a very unique flavor and the ham really adds something to it. The staff gets pretty busy so it's good to call well in advance and be patient when you show up because they tend to get behind but it's definitely worth it. I've never eaten there but it does have a warm atmosphere and would be a nice place to take a date or family outing. If you haven't tried them, I would highly recommend! read more

Always a family favorite, I decided to over order for a long weekend since we are considering ordering from there for a work event. The pizzas were delicious, though a bit too salty for our taste (hence the drop in a star). We got the thin crust as we always felt the regular was just too much dough, but that's a personal preference. I didn't think my little boys (ages 3 and 6) would finish the cheese pizza but they managed to finish the entire large cheese pizza over the course of a day and a half (3 meals) and kept asking for more pizza. The Petrillo's specialty pizza was delicious (again, salty), and had a ton of toppings. They use canned mushrooms, which I prefer, but my family likes fresh mushrooms. The Hawaiian uses a nice, smoky Canadian bacon. Four days later, we still have lots of leftover after feeding 5 adults and 2 kids. This place has been around for over 65yrs, since 1954. I finally checked this place out and happy with our take-out pizza last night. Very good pizza! A Chicago/tavern style thin crust pizza. We got a medium combo pizza known as the "Petrillo's Specialty". A medium can easily feed 4 adults or more with normal appetites (3 "double doubles" from In and Out consumed in one sitting is not normal ). Just sayin. The pizza comes with a TON of toppings and just is a really dense pizza overall. The crust is both chewy and crispy. I couldn't really taste the sauce, but the pizza was still very good. I haven't been to this hometown gem for years, but I felt like I needed to write a review after such an enjoyable experience. I came in with a party of 5 for a late lunch (aka lunner) on a Saturday. Other than my party, there weren't any customers until mid-meal. We received top service. Our hostess was very attentive to our needs and perkily asked if we needed anything throughout the meal. My table received the buttered angel hair pasta, meat ravioli, chicken alfredo, and a medium specialty pizza. The medium pizza was HUGE and packed with toppings. Our group could've made due with just a pizza. The food was delicious. Pretty spicy on price, but tasty. My group left with pretty much half a pizza left over. We were introduced to Petrillo's by our very dear friend, who lived in the area, during his childhood, he's no longer with us, but fond memories were made here. Had "to go" food a few times during pandemic, it was on one of those visits that we discovered the fire/explosion had happened. Tonight we came to dine in, first time in, what, almost 2.5 years? The place looks nice. Good choice on carpet and light fixtures are crispy clean, colorful and attractive. Like everywhere prices are up a couple or a few dollars. We ordered a three topping medium pizza and chicken parmigiana. The side of spaghetti was delicious with their delicious marinara sauce. Salad was good, were there supposed to be pimentos in those olives, just curious. The food server was unfriendly, she wasn't happy being there, I almost felt like apologizing that we came in to eat, and she was doing her job waiting on us. It was uncomfortable. She seemed pleasant with a couple eating nearby, but definitely was not friendly nor accommodating to us. We did not know her, did she perhaps think we were some infamous, non tipping sloths? Even if that were the case, she'd handled it all wrong. The pizza was over cooked burned on edges and suffering from too little sauce, like an over baked matzo with tomato sauce stains on it. We were never asked how our food was, likely they knew. I want to be clear, this is indeed the one and only Petrillo's in San Gabriel, no mix up there. It was a $70 plus dinner. I left over a 20% tip as I imagine the food runners, hostess and dishwashers get tipped by food servers. I know things have been tough for restaurants, but treat customers well, and it comes back to the business, being personable, only when you drop off the check, is an embarrassing turn off. I can't see going back there until I forget this experience and want some of their marinara, but good marinara isn't hard to come by. This is the Valley Blvd. Petrillo's in San Gabriel. No mistake about that. Shameful, disappointing and a sure sign their reputation won't carry them, dishing out this kind of experience. read more
