Airport sometimes gets a bad-rap, however, the food spots in Daniel K. Inouye International Airport reset the standard of airport. food. I frequently fly-in and out of HNL. This time around I flew out of the Central gates and was craving a heavier meal. We opted to sit down at PGA Tour Grill and try some of their offerings. Fortunately for us, they were offering a new Birria-styled tacos that were so 'ono. The portions were good. The meat was cooked well and tasty, and their sauces were delicious. I am definitely grabbing this again the next time I am flying out of this concourse. The food and beverage staff at this airport are one of the friendliest and kind staff at any airports I have dined at. Thank you to the staff and team for their excellent service and delicious food. Stopped by The PGA Tour Grill at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (Honolulu Airport) with a little time to kill before a flight, and honestly, expectations were set exactly where they should be, this is airport dining, not fine dining. That said, for what it is, it does the job. It's basically a quick stop spot for a drink or a bite before you get on the plane, and that's exactly how we used it. No complaints there. One of my homeboys is vegan, and credit where it's due, the vegan options were actually solid. Not an afterthought, which you sometimes see in airport spots. The regular menu also had a decent amount of variety. If we weren't watching the clock, we probably would've ordered more just to try it out. Staff was friendly enough, especially considering how busy this section of the airport gets. But yeah, the ambiance is what you'd expect, constant foot traffic, announcements, noise everywhere. You're not coming here for a vibe, you're coming because you're stuck at the airport and need fuel. Prices are airport prices. No surprises there. There are probably better places at HNL than this but it was close to our gate and we like to try new places at least once. The place is set up like a cafeteria but you have to wait to be seated. We were confused because the menu is online only so we had started our order from the QR code but then a waitress came and took our order. The food is prepared in an open kitchen and everything seemed fresh but the options are pretty limited and under seasoned for our taste. Friday, I arrived around 4:30 waiting for an inter- island flight. I walked up to the bar. I was immediately told, instructed and directed where to sit. I also noticed that she would not move when the other bartender needed to pour a draft beer. Jen made a mean face behind her back. I also noticed the same behavior after a manager left the bar area. This woman seemed to mock not only her coworkers, but the management of this establishment. I am a regular and a local and don't understand this type of behavior from someone who is supposed to be there for customers service. I will never frequent PGA tour bar in the airport as long as this woman is behind the bar. I have never been more humiliated as a customer and frequent traveler. This woman is disrespectful not only to her coworkers, but to the management itself and she does not have the best interest of customers or this establishment at heart. Stuck at the Daniel Inouye International Airport in Honolulu for about eight hours due to cancellation of our return flight on Sunday, September 10, 2023, David and I obviously had to eat during our long wait. Luckily, Hawaiian Airlines provided us with $20 food vouchers each, but finding non-fast food, healthier fare was quite a challenge for us. After scouring online directories of the airport for eateries and perusing their menus, we decided to go to PGA Tour Grill. Perhaps we were super exhausted and hangry which affected our sense of direction or ability to read directories appropriately - we walked past Terminal 2 at least twice before realizing that we had to actually turn into a hallway into the terminal to find the restaurant. PGA is tucked nearby the staircase closest to Gate E2. We arrived shortly before 5 PM and were seated almost immediately. The restaurant is small to average in airport eating house size. Table and bar seating are offered in the dining room with an open kitchen and view of the cooks busily preparing plates. Several TV screens showing news and sports are above the bar and kitchens. During our short visit, the area appeared to be tidy and clean. PGA's menu is not vast in selection of food, but the offerings focus on incorporating healthy ingredients, which was exactly what I was looking for. We both ordered The Power Salad ($16.99); one regular, another with added Garlic herb steak. Normally, I'm not into any dishes with quinoa, but this salad, also with arugula, marinated tomatoes, garbanzo beans, avocado, & herbs, was delicious. The added meat for an extra $7 was tasty as well. A healthy and yummy choice it was, I highly recommend this plate! For the prices, though, portions could have been a bit more generous. Service was friendly and attentive. Our waiter immediately asked us if we had to be out quickly to catch a flight. We had plenty of time, but I appreciated the considerate inquiry. We never got to try the food here, as we left before ordering. I have several food sensitivities, and as the server told us about the "philippino cooks in the back" he would "have to try and explain them to", we lost interest. We couldn't believe how the server acted, and that was not the first time he had confronted us in an ill manner.
